outside of expeditions you can fight the deepwater guardian by fishing up a child of helios (which is much rarer than in the expedition's child of arcadia btw)

defeating the deepwater guardian also gives a jellyfish tank helmet

I was having my own meltdown about being thrown away when I noticed the gas cloud that does it shifts around. If you watch from the ramp of your ship from close by you can time it when the cloud shifts away from the thing you need to grab.

It was @remote thunder that told me what to do! Put everything in the slots, save, then return to primary. Remove them from the slots into your inventory, then save again, then return back to expedition via anomoly terminal. And repeat.

pretty much every planet in gek/korvax/vykeen has abandoned buildings - but for example, infested subtype planets have whispering eggs scattered all around, if you engage titan worm burrows on foot it will also spawn biohorrors on the side. rdv3 planet (boiling doom) is such a planet.
