I can’t complete the “In Deep Water” milestone. I’m “swim” floating above water over 60u deep and the counter won’t start. Am I doing this wrong?

Meaning I’m floating above the surface of the water while my character does the “swim” idle animation. I’m not moving, but the timer won’t start

It’s 62+ units deep, so this doesn’t make any sense

doing that, I was then able to use the quicksilver elixer to show me a portal. and that portal took the blood for the breach 3 milestone as needed.

So looks like I'm back on track in the next system... nice!

Does anybody know why my base won't seem to "close"?
It's got floors. It's got walls. It's even got a roof!
And they're all connected to each other.

But I can't get it to freakin' close
so I don't count as being exposed to weather
and subject to a constantly-draining Boundary.

Has that always been the case? I'm sure I've built larger bases than that before.

hypnotic eyes, 2 derelicts worth of salvaged metal, multiple waves of corrupt sentinels, finding an ocean deep enough to just sit in it for a minute

I've completed the 3 non-story phase 5 milestones attempting to beat phase 4, so once these phase 4 things are complete it's a straight ride of dialogue to the end

Fly about a 1000 units (or some distance away) from your current location. Land and engage the analysis visor, don’t rely on the target sweep. Look for a golden wi-fi signal using the analysis visor, there will be two types of wi-fi signals— white and gold.

• Dig a tunnel directly underneath you while you are in the water body.

• Your mission will be completed when you have dug a tunnel 50 units or so deep.

Here's an easy way to do so. Go to any player made quad hunting base, fly and look around for Sentinel quads, blast em with rockets, rinse and repeat. And if Interceptors are causing trouble, enter the anomaly.

The key issue for new players while fighting quads are the healing drones, they can outheal your damage if you don't have enough DPS.

I just made me a minotaur geobay, no need for fancy bases. The cannon with 0 upgrades takes them out even while they heal

The multitool I copied had a stunning blaze javelin, an upgrade that boosts my damage against stunned enemies, and 3 S Class pulse upgrades and ricochet module.

So what I do walk up to them MENACINGLY ゴゴゴ, Stun em with blaze javelin, switch to pulse spitter and kill em in one mag.

fully upgraded weapon of choice on the multitool, get close to them and blam them, after maybe leading the drones away (since the drones can heal), or use ship in the uncharted system, blam them with rocket launcher and take off to space to lose interceptors ... I'm not the expert on this though

I out a tiny base down near a resonator that had a big quad, walked over with a full scatter blaster, blammed several times even when it turned insivible (makeing sure no drone right near it to heal it), then ran back to base, wait for them to not detct me any moer, then save at a save point I had put at the base, reload that save and the quad was back. extremely cheesy but works just fine

Then use the stuns every so often while just raining fire… it’s working quite well so far I only have 3 left to do.

@iron tendonsince you are barely starting, let me suggest some advice for this expedition. Read ahead to the other phases, do milestones as soon as possible, especially before ever leaving the 3rd system. Where you land in 3rd, is best planet for killing quads

Use the salvaged data you get from a milestone to unlock the Minotaur and it's cannon, it trivialises the combat.

Yes, you can copy the new ship back to the main save before you end it and once complete you can get another one from the vender in the nexus for any save.

As long as you're on the right planet just fight sentinels

When you reach alert 5 you'll have killed 3-4 quads

ah ha! anyways if you surf around the resonators, some will have a big tanky quad doggo guarding them, you can whack it and run (lead the drones away first so they can't zip back and heal it)

also it's gonna go invisible as soon as you shoot at it most likely, just fire where it was and wait for it to reappear, with luck some of those shots will have caused damage or even done it in.

you really want to get the best out of your multitool and make sure you have three good upgrades for the weapon of choices, use those supercharged slots etc

one thing you can do if you're having trouble getting enough damage on them before they move on you: get and install a paralysis mortar, then buy unstable plasma at the local space station. that's you're secondary weapon, hit them with that, then blam them with the primary weapon, when the paralysis wears off hit 'em again, shouldn't take long that way, @tight lynx

you can paralyse the healer drones too if they start to interfere.

with care 😄 more seriously: some people use a ship on the dissonant planet in the uncharted system, rocket launcher big quads near dissonant resonators. some people like the minotaur, I used a scatter blaster with full upgrades because I could deal damage faster than the healers could undo it; some players use a paralysis mortar to stop the healers and then do in the quad

it made the fishing nice and easy too (I am too cheap to put down anything but a mud hut ad a save point for these throwaway bases, no actual nice structures unless I like the world a lot or want to uplaod to help others, this expd is far too short for that)

4200 is also really easy to do with the abysmal horror milestone rewarding 1500 + the hadal cores/inverted mirrors awarded + the dissonant planets with shards around.

they give you 5 radiant shards too, plus you can easily grab more of those. and fishing (catch and release) gives you more. nanites are not the hard part in this expedition

From my experience so far I can say that I didn't need almost anything that I have brought with me from my main save. With exception of basic stuff like Carbon, Ferride dust, etc. Which you can easily get in the expedition run anyway.

Otherwise you get all stuff which you need during the expedition.

And as expeditions originally were separate game mode where you had to start new save before the possibility of entering it with normal save was added too, I think that they are still balanced to be able to finish them without even bringing anything from the normal save.

it's not required to bring anything, but it can make some parts less grindy.

Generally, when you start expedition run, regardless of if it's new or existing save, you start on new game conditions, which usually means on a pre-designed planet, on foot with broken ship. The conditions might differ by the expedition. But it's good idea to think what stuff might help you to get faster beyond the typical early-game grind.

Some expeditions (like this one) might disallow you from entering The Anomaly until certain point in, which means that you'll be still forced to get up some early-game stuff on your own, before you'll be allowed to take supplies and clone ship/multitool from your normal save.

Also, cloning ship/multitool costs nanites, so if you plan doing so, it's good idea to save them for it.

no. you need to have the milestone pinned, make sure you do not have blood elixir from going through any other portal on you, and follow the instructions in the lower right tooltip to the letter, otherwise you can get this messed up intercation

General advice for the expedition portals: Don't craft elixirs until the milestone instructions prompt you. Select the portal milestone and craft only what elixirs it highlights for you.

each system has a fixed derelict with a fixed type of hostiles (if you get jellyfish then that's what the freighter will always have, etc) and a fixed layout and number of loot containers, though the contents of the containers is randomized

some are harder and some are easier

you get some items from milestones: biological samples, terrfiying samples, delicate flora, and so on. you can dig up and sell ancient bones (you had to do some of that for a milestone, other planets have these too). scan creatures and flora wit a couple good scanner modules installed.

When I interact with it, I activate it but it doesn’t open. It asks for glyphs but I have none. I tried reloading my save but same thing.

tosss the one blood elixir you have on you. make sure you have materials to make another.

save-exit-reload. pin the milestone again.

then follow the tooltip directions from the new planet or the space station

it should tell yo: craft the blood elixir (of the specific type), craft the elixir of quicksilver, drinkthat one, go to themarker.

wait for the tooltip to tell you about each step, don't do it ahead of time.

There is currently an issue with the Glowing Egg expedition reward. We strongly recommend players to NOT yet claim this reward until Hello Games has fixed it.

Users have reported the Egg to disappear after hatching without a companion being added. Further more, we have noticed having the egg in inventory to possibly cause further issues.

We would appreciate reporting this issue to Hello Games , for increased awareness, seeing this issue patched with a future update.

I was on the brood planet in the second system, but couldn't find hungering tendrils at all. I don't see any vile broods in the 3red system. Do I need to go back?

Tendrils dont spawn on brood planets. They have to be infested biomes
