Yeah, I had the same problem. Terrible spawn spot. I did actually manage to tough it out to swim to a larger land mass. But I only managed because of that milestone that gifted two glass elixirs.

On expedition, I found a derelict fighter (using a signal I got from an abandoned station), and I repaired the thrusters and pulse drive. Then I summoned it at a space station, sold it for scrap -- was supposed to get 1.5 million ... it gave me nothing at all (?) The game looked also as if it gave me scrap stuff from it (the icons popped up on the top right) but nothing was in my inventory. Sigh.

Stone Ghosts isn't working right for me. If I use the Signal Booster it doesn't lead me to ruins and I tried trading nav data to get ruin waypoints but neither of those registered as finding ancient ruins either.

You can buy alien maps with your Nav Data on the space station. They will lead you to a Plaque. Then 'seek knowledge of the past' to find ruins.

Nevermind, your method just worked for me. Instead of going directly for a ruin, I went for a waypoint to the Plaques that give you seek history of the people like you said and that registered.

You can change some things in difficulty settings to make it easier on yourself.

Later for the corrupted Sentinel milestone you may need to switch it back up but you will have stronger shield and weapon by then.

You need to kill some of the jellyfishes to get a material you need for the new recipes.

More spawn as your purple meter gets lower so refill it when you need to. You can hide in buildings or take a break in your shop if you need.

I had a similar issue, idk if this will work for you but I logged out and back in, the portal I was at needed its glyphs recharged so I left and quicksilver-ed for another portal, and that one ended up working

So maybe log in and out and if it still doesn't work, make another quicksilver

If you are on a dissonant planet, look for a harmonic camp, find a bunch of salvaged ships, if its not a C class, claim it, if its a C class, take out the brain and refine it
