All of those tasks can be done either leading up to or on the planet for the first check point (where you get given the blueprint to make your rod)

I found a nice little pond at:
-49.41, +119.12 on Dreato which has been a dream to fish at. All the tasks I listed above where done right at this lake, fish in the middle for the deep sea stuff, use local materials for the skiff etc etc

You might be able to if they are tradable. But another thing about this game is sometimes having something won't complete a milestone. For example when you have to collect storm crystals, you actually have to manually pick them. Just having them in your inventory doesn't count.

My home planet has only shallow ponds, so when Worlds came out, i was left unimpressed by new water and its wave effects dependent on weather.
Until today i fished on deep open waters during storms xD
