all the milestones are completed and i cannot claim their rewards

Find a deeper underwater area. There are some larger underwater flora and minerals that don't spawn in the shallows.

There's various factors contributing to RD5 in particular going slower than the others

MTs and ships with all the techs they had, units/nanites/quicksilver. Up to 8 packed tech and 20 stacks of items. The expedition rewards are claimable from any save the moment you got them, no need to end the expedition save.
Every other item you don't transfer gets converted to units/nanites and also transfered to your main save.

For the MTs/ships copy, you need to have nanites to copy them on the main save.

yes thats exactly what i did, sugar dough+ flour from the wheat plants i harvested

1. Wheat —> Refined Flour
2. Sweetroot —> Processed Sugar
3. Processed Sugar + Refined Flour —> Sugar Dough
4. Sugar Dough + something else —> Biscuit

I refined some cactus flesh into juice, then added that to the sugar dough. Came out with cookies called "tooth pickers."

Some people are adding nip nip buds to the sugar dough to get basically pot cookies called Herbal Crunch.

You just need to add something to the sugar dough in order for it to count as a "complex" baking biscuit.

You don't need to grind nanites. Just go with your starter expedition ship till phase 3 or so. And you should have 3k+ nanites

That's the thing. Instead of exploring random systems, if you complete the milestones you should have your old ship with minimal to no pirate encounter at all.

I've done a lot of pirate encounters with the starter ship myself for the QS dailies. But I've done a lot of space combat on my main 460hr save, so being a little undergunned wasn't much of an issue. Do miss my infraknife tho.

Yeah, I know, that's how I did it in previous expeditions. But if I want to fast track it and they give you the option, there's no shame in using it.
