Basically a golden reskin of the steam preorder exclusive ship. It comes in S class and with a whole bunch of S class modules pre-installed so it makes expeditions much much quicker. It was the final reward for the first expedition, if I recall.

yeah, since you can't buy microprocessors in the first system (due to it being an abandoned one), you're probably gonna end up having to craft those to install the hyperdrive. You start with the recipe for those as well.

the easiest way to check would be at the anomaly quicksilver vendor since it lists which expedition each thing comes from... you just have to look at whatever is listed as expedition 5. Tho I guess mousing over the expedition overview page in the expedition tab should also list the rewards for each phase there.

Well, you just have to keep an eye out for those while going from system to system. Its either that or backtracking to the known ones.

Most planets will have a rare creature that can get you that much, but you may need to have 2-3 S class scanner upgrades installed that give a bonus to fauna. The station at RV2 sells those if the two free ones were bad rolls for you. You can restock the shop by saving and reloading at the station or teleporting out and back.

you want to install the S scanner upgrades you get as rewards from a couple milestones, then just scan as many fauna as you can when you visit worlds, one will turn out to be rare and hit tht value

aggressive ones will help defend you from predators and so on

If you don't see a landing pad and the freighter is not more less in one piece, it's the other kind of derelicts

Best you can do is shoot cargo pods for some resources, but that can / will attract pirates to you

About derelict freighters

You may find a derelict freighter in pieces with debris, and wonder why you can't land on it. This ia a pulse encounter; the only thing you can do is to shoot a couple cargo pods for loot, attracting pirates.

Derelict freighters look like this, intact but surrounded by space fog. Closer up, you'll see a landing area. Once landed and out of your ship, you'll be on the derelict mission.

You can encounter them by buying an Emergency Signal Scanner (formerly: "Emergency Broadcast Receiver") from the scrap dealer on any space station, for 5 million units. The price increases up to a cap of 30 million units if you buy more than one a day.

For preparation, you should have cold protection, some ion batteries and a decent multi-tool weapon. Use the heaters in the derelict as well, and don't forget to grab the supplies from the blue crate at the entrance.

A system's derelict freighters will always give the same class of freighter tech upgrade at the end, so if you find a derelict that gives an S class upgrade, note its location for later re-use.

You used to be able to get a free Emergency Signal Scanner from Helios ("Groot-Entity") at the Space Anomaly once a week, after doing the mission the first time. I went and got the economy scanner from the anomaly, found a pirate system and bought 3 X class scanner modules. I got 2 that do around 9000% fauna scan awards so i scanned one of the diplo on the final rendezvous planet and got over 400,000 units

Getting Eggs

You need 5 eggs of each type (creature, tall, giant). You can drop a pellet into a group of creatures to get them all to be tame, then harvest their resources. You can tell what kinds of resources they give by hovering over them.

Once you have the eggs, keep them; you will need them for making cakes for Cronus to satisfy another milestone.

The hardest to find are giant eggs (from diplos, long necked brotosaurus-like fauna) and tall eggs (from striders, gangly bipeds that are mostly all leg). The following worlds have diplos: Cutumus Sigma and Sasa 94/W1, both in Bunyagile (R1 system), Inhalce VII in Ogaets XII (R3 system).

No rendezvous system worlds have striders, but there are two systems not far off the route. Prazlich is 24 light years from Bunyagile (R1), Korvax T2 DNA economy, T2 conflict; world Cakieves Yoko (toxic, fungal mould) has striders. Additionally, Hivaleyms III is 15 light years from Ogaets (R3), Gek, T2 beaker economy, T3 conflict; world Izonakr X has striders. It also has a couple of predators though so be alert.

Milestone Tips

For the Valuable Data milestone, you'll need to have 2 or 3 S class scanners installed, and then scan a rare fauna.

You get 2 S class scanners from the Marine Biology (scan 4 underwater fauna) and Ornithology (scan 4 flying fauna) milestones.

If these do not give you a sufficient multiplier for fauna scans, you can also purchase an S class scanner upgrade from the space station in Oprudn V (R2 system). If your milestone reward scanner upgrades didn't give a fauna multiplier, you can always save and reload at the space station to get another scanner module to replace one of the duds.

For the Discerning Palate milestone, you'll want to make several cakes for Cronus. They can all be the same type, but how Cronus reacts to them is a matter of prng, so have at least 4 and you'll probably be fine.

You will have already collected 15 eggs for the Best Laid Plans milestone; as a reward for this, you get 16 Refined Flour, 16 Processed Sugar, 16 Synthetic Honey, 16 Fresh Milk, and Nutrient Processor plans. That's all you need; just build the nutrient processor, make Sweetened Butter by cooking milk into Cream, Cream into Churned Butter, and then Churned Butter plus Processed Sugar for Sweetened Butter; make Cake Batter from Sweetened Butter, Refined Flour and those eggs; and finally make Glittering Honey Cake by cooking Cake Batter and Synthetic Honey.

If you talk to Cronus and do not get the option to present your cakes because other things like creature pellets are in the visible slots, try swapping the cakes with an item in the same inventory (i.e. both in ship, or both in suit) which does appear in the choices, and start the dialogue again.

It takes a few minutes. Its usually more efficient to toss the pellets on the ground rather than hand-feeding each creature, that will attract every creature in a relatively large radius. That's also gonna help to complete some other milestones (having 8 cretaures fed, taking pictures of 10 creatures). You can throw the pellets by opening your quick menu, going to animal companions (paw icon) and then selecting the pellets. On pc you can assign a hotkey to it by using control + number key, say control + 4, with it selected on the quick menu. Then when you press 4, it'll toss the pellets, without having to open the quick menu each time.

More of a bug, if its not intentional. I wouldn't worry about exploits, in the sense of being banned and such. The game fully supports cheating and modding and such, so no worries there. I've never heard of anyone being banned/suspended other than from bad behavior in chat (harassment, racism and such)

Make sure you have 2-3 S class scanner mods installed that give at least 7000% ish bonus to fauna each and just scan everything. You should get it done in a planet or two.

knowing how to reroll mods can help a bit with that in case one gets unlucky with their rolls but I suppose that is a bit beyond the scope of this particular channel

I don't think pets count for that, and anyway you can only have one out at once. Try to find a planet with really dense, large group spawns. The planet for the first rendezvous (check pinned messages if you don't remember it) worked well for me, but most rendezvous systems had at least one suitable planet I think.

if you're at the planet, land near the marker, select the 'renzevous' milestone to make it active, then use your visor to pinpoint the specific location (since while in ship it directs you only to the general area). You probably already have it active, but never hurts to make sure because the visor will not find the location unless that milestone is your active one.

It should. After a couple feedings the creatures start following you around a bit, so you can always use that to merge groups if needed. That wasn't necessary for me, personally, but its always an option. You never know with rng.

The marker under your feet is the 'general' one, not the 'specific location' one I think. Which RV is it? First was a giant archive building, so try to see if you can spot one of those nearby. I don't remember exactly what each of the others were, but its probably listed in the pinned messages.

I'm not sure. For the 'feed 8 creatures' thing I think you only need to have 8 creatures in loading range with the "+" icon over their heads to indicate recently fed. For the group picture one, I'm not sure. I got those both at the same time with my first thrown pellet in the RV1 planet so I really didn't have to pay much attention sadly.

I just got my first freighter. Is it even possible to use freighters during this expedition? I have no frigate fuel, nor do I have the recipe to make fuel, which requires salvage frigate modules to learn.

when you first get a freighter you'll get a mission to use the fleet overview console, then talk to the fleet navigator, then make a fleet command room, and then use it. At that point you get the frigate fuel recipes for free. This works even during the expedition, but there's no real use for freighters during it.

Since you already visited the systems, even if you didn't visit the space station, you'll have it in your discovery page. Middle mouse click (on pc) while hovering over the system name in your discovery page will mark the path to it in your galaxy map.

Yeah I'm guessing it wouldn't work but to be fair I haven't tried. Just bugs me that expeditions were so far always stuck on normal. Survival, at least, is more my speed... I find the normal mode stack sizes excessive, pretty much removing any semblance of difficulty from the game (and there wasn't much of that to begin with)

try to change the cake with one of the 3 random foods that cronus is picking in their dialogue. Or stick it in the top-left inventory slot, that usually works for me. Alternately, stashing all the random foods that you don't want to feed to cronus in your freighter works too.

a way around that is to find an item from the same inventory that shows up in the choices (let's say you have the cake in your ship, then find another food item in the ship that is in the choices dialogue): then swap the two item in inv and your cake will show up

I believe you can clear the milestone even feeding random things to cronus, it doesn't necessarily have to be the cake, being a cake just increases the chances that cronus will be impressed.

once you have the indium one, you can dismantle or package ther est. but they do give a small bonus, so if you have the slots you might as well keep them

Yep. the one that lets you travel to blue stars works for red/green stars too. So you just need to keep that one and you can regain two extra slots :P works for both ships and freighters.

abyssal horror I got done pretty quick but it was luck more than anything, it was just right next to the island where I landed

I had an abyssal horror early in the game, but I didn't realize I needed to get caught, and I kill those things quick

I got lucky on that one. I jumped to 4 stations, and each one had a "Kill 3 sentinels" mission. I still had a secure outpost map, so that was easy

pretty much everything else was very quick and basically done on the way to getting to the rendezvous points for me

I’ve never done an explorers guild thing but the rest of the milestones dont look bad at all

The worst part was that the first station I went to, only had 4 vykeen missions, so I had to do one of those just to get an explorer mission to show up

Discover a swamp creature

oh. well, just scan any creature in a swamp planet (like the one you have to visit for the sightseer milestone) and done

Usually simpler, like Kill/Feed 10-15 creatures, kill 3+ sentinels, take a picture with criteria

there's also some that are for scanning plants/animals/rocks in a specific planet which may be in the system or not

Also, unlike Nexus missions, station missions can stack. So if you get multiple "kill sentinels" missions, you only need X sentinels, not X per mission

What happens to your egg if you sequence it with 100% in all 4 categories?

Just the one that you already have when you start the expedition. It starts with affinity close to max already. If you got rid of it at some point then you'll have to wait for the other pets bars to go down, then feed and pet some more, etc, until it maxes.

are ridden companions ungodly slow for anyone else? Riding a companion 2ku was painful

That depends if you sprint with them (shift on pc) or not. They take a while to accelerate to their maximum speed, but when they get there they're pretty fast. Unless its hilly terrain or if they keep bumping into things and coming to a full stop, so they have to accelerate again and so forth.
