Refineries tend to be very giving of their inventories.

Either giving your stuff to someone else, or someone else's stuff to you.

More than once I've had stuff randomly appear that I had nothing to do with, and I've watched it just.. eat my stuff more than once.

that's why i made some tricks regarding to completing any expeditions, here's my achievements so far:

for acquiring storm crystal as an ingredient for warp hypercore to build singularity: storm crystal on planets labeled as (Activated Copper), only extreme worlds with extreme cold, hot, radioactive and toxic does.
to purchase at least 8 frigates: sell an A-class starship collected from Twitch rewards for scrap.
someone told me that i have to cancel mission and debrief as it counted as "explored" in order to complete at least 8 frigate exploration missions for a milestone

to recover a broken starship as an achievement for milestone, my most recommended is: if you have nautilon exocraft, you have to install high power sonar with three resources you need: 50 Ferrite Dust, 1 Solar Mirror and 3 Crystal Sulphide. then scan for crashed ship. If you have other starship then fly to closest land that's closest to target, then summon and ride Nautilon to dive closer to target. I already tried planetary chart before but that'll take too long and consume more Navigation Data.

1st is warp hypecore: if you have existing antimatter on hand, also gather storm crystal on extreme planets or planets that has "Activated Copper" labelled, only extreme worlds that has storm crystals are: hot, icy, radioactive and toxic.
2nd is 120 Iodised Cobalt which you can refined after you purchased at least 240 cobalt to be refined via galactic trade
3rd is 3 Crystal Sulphide which is commonly found underwater

any of these three are crucial to build singularity engine to your freighter

I did it this way as well. Very easy. The only problem I had is that I partially repaired the launch thrusters then switched back to my other ship, planning to finish repairs later. For some reason the launch thrusters showed as fully repaired when I summoned it again, so I had to do some fiddling to get that half to complete.

you can also just go back to your ship -> freighter -> fly to sapce station ->use portal to go back to freighter -> activate broken ship -> portal back to space station

that will fix all the essential broken tech

PSA: anyone really wanting to install those color star system drives on the freighter they get as rewards, if you dig up some buried caches, 7-8 of them, odds are you get cadmium or emeril from one, nanites from several. enjoy!

when I take off from a planet I don't pulse right away, I take my time and usually some freighters pop in after a bit, I go over and check them out and when I'm close enough, I see they have recruitable frigates
