ok, collect several (5? 6?) nav data. buy from the artographer that many distress signal maps. go to a planet. open each one, do not clear the wrong ones, if an error, spam the map again, you buy as many maps as there are types, one will have the crashed ship

So you have to completely start over on a new save as a bb scrubling and figure out a way to get'r done. and once you get'r done it saves account wide so you can collect the rewards on main char save. Correct?

When you finish, you can convert the expedition to a normal mode save. Or just continue your normal mode save and use the expedition rewards there

It’s not really a “bb scrubling”… it’s a completely different start compared to normal mode

You start a new save to play the expedition. It won't affect your other save(s), aside from providing rewards that you can collect on those saves.
It lasts for about another two months. You can take as long as you like to complete it, within those two months of course.

Hopped on today after sending out my frigates on a few 5 hour and 22 hour missions and the timers showed 39 hours and 52 hours now. Afaik they are never sold. You need to find a planet that has really crazy storms.

At least when you complete the Expedition milestones you'll be able to convert it to a normal save immediately instead of waiting two months. That should unlock the starship hyperdrives for purchase on the anomaly. Then use those to get to green and blue systems.

Once you have completed the expedition, right after you claim the final expedition reward, , you will be prompted at that time to convert the save; you will not be permitted to opt out. Therefore, if you wish to assist others during their play, do not claim that final reward until you are ready. Note that you need to have done the optional Phase 2 milestone for early autoconvert to happen.
• You will be able to summon the Anomaly after your first warp in the freighter, in Phase 1, if you are wondering why it isn't inthe summoning menu earlier.
• You do not have the base computer blueprint in this expedition. You will only get it after your save converts to a normal mode save. The bases you see on some planets on the route are likely made with the help of save editing.
• Yes, everyone starts out with a strider as a companion. No, we don't know why; you don't need it for any milestone, and it's never mentioned in the expedition.

Expedition 8 - Polestar FAQ (2/3): Getting milestones done

• You get a warp hypercore, needed to build the Singularity Engine, from the "Well-Oiled Machine" milestone in Phase 1. Save it and you won't need storm crystals. The freighter does just fine on warp cells. If you really want storm crystals, remember that supicious packets (goods) drop them relatively frequently, if you have located a couple of outlaw systems and have units to spare. And if all else fails, the planet Eginal E50 in the Rendevous 3 system (Kotanab-Awa) has storm crystals, though you might have to wait for a little while for a storm to hit. Someone has even left a convenient base for your use, "Storm Crystals and Minotaur".
• 🏴‍☠️ Running short on pirates? Spend time in high conflict (T3) systems, and have some valuable items in the ship to attract their attention. Alternatively, once you have acquired the hyperdrive plans at the end of Phase 5, you can encounter a freighter battle every 3 starship warps.
• Need more hyperdrive range for the freighter? Make sure you have installed the "salvaged hyperdrive upgrade" given from the "Engage Engines" milestone in Phase 1.
• You do not need to install the "Amplified Warp Shielding" tech in your freighter; no milestones require you to go to a red, green or blue star system. If you really want to install it, you can buy a C class upgrade for any starship weapon, install and dismantle it for cadmium, and then multiply it by chromatic metal to get the amount desired.
• If you are burning to get your frigate expeditions done sooner rather than later, send them out on the mission and recall them right away; this still counts as "completion". You will still have the limit of 5 expeditions a day to be offered you.
• You get over 16k nanites from the milestones for reaching the five Rendevous points. This is more than enough to unlock 3 squadron pilot slots; don't spend them with wild abandon on other things!

• 🪲 The large refiner on freighters has been known to be buggy and disappear the contents. Watch it while it works and do not put large amounts of anything in. If you do lose contents when you are watching it, please report this as a bug to Hello Games.
• 🪲 If you want to trade in your starting freighter for another, be aware that sometimes your current freighter base may not transfer to the new one. Do a manual save first before any such transaction. Players report that having an item in the old freighter inventory at the time triggers the base transfer prompt after the inventory transfer prompt as a workaround to this bug.
• 🪲 Sometimes freighter base sections randomly disappear. Yes, even with multiplayer disabled. Make sure you have a save point in the first corridor right by the bridge so that you can save and reload in such cases.
• 🪲 The stellar extractor sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Don't rely on it for anything and check and retrieve its contents often.
