Afraid there is no other way than grinding the travellers
the pins in this channel tell you how to find stuff like that along the expedition path. no glyphs needed
Not necesarily, you can find them in Vykeen and Gek systems as well
However the Korvax systems should have a higher chance of having the missions for explorers guild
Is there a way to transfer expedition items to other characters?
@lofty vessel , I used other peoples bases to find my beetle. Lots of people named bases things like “beetle planet” and things like that. I just searched the teleporter in the space station along the route
The big rewards are cross save, what exactly are you trying to transfer?
ye i found the pins with it with a beatle base. Almost done doing the missions
i am at rendezvous 1 but there is nothing at the marker and i can't see anything flying around
Use the Target Sweep on your visor
Ok I found it, it just didn't load till like right in front of it
Hey all! How do you get the 200,000 unit creature scan? Is that one of those exotic creatures in rendezvous 5?
2-3 S class scanner upgrades, put them together in a square grid formation.
Then scan a single rare fauna
It doesn't have to be the exotic fauna (those arent always "rare" anyway)
Hey
I'm at phase 3 at the expedition and need to give Iteration Kronos my cake, but all the step tell me is "call the anomalie" and that's it. If i talk to kronos all i can show are giant eggs, refined flour and larva core.
Start with wild or fresh milk, process to cream, then to butter, then mix with sticky honey for honeyed butter.
Then mix the honey butter with an egg and refined flour (from heptaloid wheat) to get cake batter.
Then mix cake batter with sticky honey (or honestly a lot of things will make a cake at this point)
And make multiple, sometimes it takes a couple for Cronus to be inpressed
Also, because i probably misunderstood the initial question, move those other items to a storage container (or your nutrient processor)
also, couple of other tips:
- can save, feed him an item and reload the save if he's unimpressed
- If your cooked food isn't showing up in Cronus' dialog options, move the cooked food item from the exosuit to the starship and back.
Honnied Proto Cake did it for me in one. Maybe I was lucky.
Thanks for the answers @quick herald and @edgy dock - i already bake a cake and i found "my" way to get it... put everything he ask into the starship until he finally ask for your cake 🙂
On my PC save, I stupidly dumped my original companion which was at 95% trust and now only have companions which are at 70%. I'm not making headway fast with gaining their trust. Would it help if I genetically altered a new companion to be more trusting (if possible) or are there other techniques I should know?
IIRC the pet rewards from previous expeditions start at 75%
So maybe use them for a bit of headstart?
Hey y'all I'm new to this game and I'd love to have all expedition rewards, how do I start first?
Expeditions 3 and 4 main rewards were companion eggs
Biological Horror and Titanic Worm respectively
If you did previous expeditions, you can try getting their eggs on current expedition save
They will start with trust at a level 75%
From there work your way with feeding, petting and letting them induce an egg
You can't start the previous expeditions 1-4
Expeditions are a limited time events, those took place in 2021, even had a reruns throughout December and January 2022
You can only start the expedition 5 right now
There is hoping HG will bring back the previous expeditions later on this year, so that new players from Switch can have a chance on these items
But we don't have any solid info on that
Okay so hoe do I start expedition 5?
Start the game - Play Game - New Save - select expedition mode (right most option)
Hmm okay
What Lush world?

Can you redeem the pre order ship in an expedition?
!expairless
check the pins, i think theres an airless planet in a couple of the rendezvous systems
Thank you! Best place to get those at space stations?
yep!
multitool vendors will have them. the class available is random though.
Sweet! Thank you
Hey guys, where can I find swampy and volcanic planet? Near second rendezvous point rn
my game crashed after i got an egg from the pet you get at the start of the game, and now its gestation timer has reset to 24h again, is there any way to speed it up
wait i still have the egg in my inventory, but i don't have the achievement thing
The expedition is really starting to annoy me.. It I'm up to famous explorer I go to the agent to get missions they just say "LEVEL 1 VY'KEEN MISSION" I complete the mission nothing happens am I supposed to select a certain mission I'm really confused and I can't find a list of what missions I am supposed to start and not start. Like what am I supposed to be looking at all I see is a bunch of words but nothing saying "Explorer" or "Explorer Mission" What am I missing???
i think your supposed to take explorers guild missions, but you need standing with the species to do so
How do I check my standing??
Try doing "Explorer's Guild" missions in Korvax systems, since your standing is already increased there. If you're in V or G systems, you need to level up with G or V missions before you will see "Explorer's Guild" missions to choose from.
It should be only two, maybe three, missions in Vy'Keen or Gek before you are leveled up enough.
@toxic gull ty for helping out
how long does the current expedition take? if i started it today, would i still have enough time to complete it?
Its possible to complete it within a week but it depends on how you go about the expedition some people will speedrun the expedition and some people will take their time
how much time is left on it atm?
3 weeks left
so, i should realisticly have time to finish it? thanks sinister, i want the robo-doge
The only mission that probably will take you some time is getting your pets trust at 100% every day you walk around with your pet until you see a broken 💔 icon then fully feed them till the heart guage is full everytime you do it they will gain 5% trust Note: You can do this once every day a better strategy is look for fauna who are near 100% trust when you tame them
I believe the second rendezvous planet is a volcanic planet (the third if not) and swampy planets are in at least a one of the rendezvous systems but I got that one without realizing it.
is there no way to increase the explorer standing quickly? its really a waste of time and the only thing to complete the expedition..
there's not really a quick way to do it. you could jump from system to system and get a bunch of missions to do at once but that's not particularly faster than just doing one mission at a time
the scan mission is one of the worse. better just jumping to next system and try to stack kill creature or sentinel mission.
why create such tedious mission when we are gonna abandon this save and revert to our main save after the expedition ends.
Your pet that you start with has 95% trust
Or 90
Eva, I'm sorry I just saw this. There's plenty of time. As Sinister said above main things you depend on that are timer dependent are companions. But that would take 48 hour wait at most depending on potential past companion cross-save rewards you may have access to. if you need tips for a speed run of sorts, bkay201#1943 can help with some of those
how much time does it take to speedrun the expedition?
I did it in the first week
Its possible to do it in 2 days (well for me in my case)
There's a Xaine's World speedrun guide
@modest hemlock What would you say is a reasonable amount of time to speed run the expedition? YourDeepFear was asking
i think that not counting the 24h for the egg, it should be quite doable under 4h
Aside from the egg thing, the time issue for most people seems to be explorers ranking, and if you stack missions for that every station you stop at, it goes really quickly. Inventory juggling is also an irritant, but again, if you just take the first freighter you get, that goes away.
When Exobiology role
if you'd like the role, you can post or DM us a screenshot of your Phase 5 completion
Coolio
So I accidentally got rid of the default 95% trust companion which the expedition gives you. I notice that most of the companions I have now start at 70% trust which is a lot harder slog to 100% trust. Is there a chance of me finding an animal with more starting trust on am I doomed to slogging from 70% to 100%?
@fresh jewel probably not but someone mentioned earlier that if you completed any of the other expeditions that gave eggs (sand worm and bio horror) that they will start out at 75%
also ive just read they can only be raised a maximum of 5% a day, apparently
hehe roundtable be round the bend
I did and for me the horror didn't start out that high. In fact it started out lower than 70%.
I read that too.
So the minimum you need to do to raise the trust by 5% each days it what? I'll try it on a couple creatures and see if one is progressing faster than another.
feeding/petting and ive heard riding it around for a while
Suggestions for where to find ancient bones on this expedition?
I found a planet early on, but didn't realize I needed the bones, and then lost the planet in teh course of many jumps to different places
if you respond plz ping
there are a lot on the yellow swamp planet i think
@buoyant leaf rdv 4 has a bones planet
in the rendezvous 2 system
and yeah i think 2 as well
You wouldnt happen to have the RDV 2 or 4 system names would you?

there we go ^^;
The bones planet has aggressive sentinels, fyi. I dug for them in tunnels and grabbed them from underneath 😄
Yeah, I tried to get away and then just dug myself aunderground and sealed the hole
dont think the one in rdv4 had aggressive sentinels
fwiw; gijyotapor akyus in rdv4 system has bones, does not have aggressive sentinels
Any documented s class multitool around the expedition systems?
sweet, did not know that
I mean, late for me now but yay for those who do it at this point
i don't recall seeing anyone mentioning it, but you know, possibly! i do recall roar mentioning an a-class space station mt cache, at rdv1 or 2, he wasn't sure
yeah! I've encountered a few a class, eventually bought one of those
putting it simply, just spending a few seconds to a couple of minutes in each rdv system to scan all planets from orbit, is worth it 😄 glad you managed to gather bones in rdv2. curious, did you unlock and try the cloaking device MT tech? i feel that's why they added solar mirror bp to a starter system milestone
I tried it in my normal save. It doesn't last long enough to be particularly useful, was my eventual conclusion.
If you're hiding and think you might be discovered at the tail end of the search, it'll save you. Otherwise, not so much
Fellas does trust go up by 5% each day you have your pet well-fed and happy? Do you have to check in on them each day?
I sold my first pet in the expedition by accident without knowing
It does, yes
I did the same thing
yes, 5% a day, well-fed/happy, you should check on them once a day
will do thanks
Sometimes it goes up pretty much instantly, sometimes you have to derp around for 15 minutes
in a couple of runs, patting a couple of times was enough (after getting the egg, that is - was at 95% trust like.. 10min into the run)
Wasn't for me :/
But I had an aggressive boi
Not at all helpful or protective
Cute though
one of the runs gave me one i believe. kept going around killing fauna that i wanted to loot
same!
had to dismiss
I eventually just did the 5% while doing non-looting things, dismissed, and then did the looting. But I also took several days to do the expedition and you are efficient af 🙃
spamming the "fetch" button quite a bit seemed to help though - did not completely stop him from returning to killing fauna when i wasn't looking anymore
just wish we'd see our hands doing the pointing, instead of getting kicked out to 3rd person and back again to 1st. someday 😄
Right about the same time us non-VR plebs get to see hands on our ship controls 😄
Down to the last explorers guild mission. Now which explorers guild missions stack? Was it sentinel missions?
weird, let me check
do lemme know
and some info on abyssal horror as well, I've never heard of this before and idk how to find one
here you go, re: beetles: <#nms-legacy-ships message> in case it helps
Thanks!
for that you can go to any planet with water. there's a chance of finding them under water. i can share a screenshot of what they look like...
that would help
maybe this is a better shot but this is essentially what they look like when they try to attack you lol
When approached the eye will open and then lean over to look at the player. When the player gets into range, they will emit a glowing beam which will lift up the player and draw them in closer dealing damage and rendering the player helpless. The player can break out of the effect by rapidly pressing the E (or X button on Xbox for me).
A Hypnotic Eye drops when an Abyssal Horror is killed. It will disappear if not picked up within a few seconds of spawning.
hmm got it
i'll try looking into planets with this creature, where did you find this thing?
this particular one was not in the expedition. i'm sorry i forgot to offer this other important tip from bk201:
Abyssal Horrors spawn underwater, often near sunken abandoned buildings, or just in random locations underwater. Nautilon, the submarine exocraft, which can be unlocked by completing the Coleoptorology milestone, can scan directly for sunken abandoned buildings after its sonar tech is installed.
many just focus on kill sentinels/creatures missions
scan minerals, take photo (of the same biome), deliver X amount of resource A (if the amount and resource are the same for multiple missions): these also stack
I just finished the expedition. I am confused about orange vs blue quads, small vs big ones. What should I do to get the big one?
Quads? As in quad servos?
Sentinel which we get from the QS shop…
there was a bug where on regular saves you'd get a different color quad than on the expd save, that's supposedly been fixed
for size, I don't know if the genetic modifier (egg sequencer) works on the quads for size or not, you could try it
oh the quad being smaller in non expedition saves, that was fixed at the same time as the color bug, and apparently the sequencer won't let you adjust the size
it does, I was able to ride the quad in my main save where I pumped it up in the sequencer

Ah, now I understand. So I take it there being two types/colors/sizes (whatever) of quad is probably a bug unless the genetic modifier affects it.

Yes, and they have subsequently fixed it so they should be the same size and color for ones you claim now. I'm not sure what happens to the already existing orange ones.
Wow! Necroed that one, but thinks.
They may have changed this. Since scan minerals and take a picture now sends you to a specific world on a specific star system. Kill creatures and sentinels still sticks but I had 2 missions with the collection of 250 paraffinnium and they didn't stack after I completed one deposit.
no, it does stack
minerals: while each does send you to a specific planet, if you stack them, then go to one of the specific planets - optimally the one where you will need more scans will complete all others
deliver item: only works if you have the required mats/items, start the missions, but visit one of them, and do not select the other missions before reaching the target planet
you will still need to visit multiple terminals
but instead of being still in some other star system or planet, it will pick terminals in the same planet you delivered the first one in
I see. Interesting.
lol the tracking on the egg and milk parts is horrible, its managed to somehow forget that i got over 5 giant eggs, warm proto milk, and claw milk
Yes. I learned that when I moved the milk and eggs to the food processor. Once I moved them back it recgnized them again.
Oof I didn't try that before going back to get them
I'm done with the expedition 5 and have collected all reward except the one with 300 seconds of jetpack flight which starts the moment you claim the reward. Been trying to think of the most fun thing to do with 5 mines of jetpack. Any ideas?

above is the info on Rdv 1
system name and planet names etc
Is the 5% per day cap on companion trust increase per 1) 24 hour period from the last increase, 2) per calendar day in you time zone or 3) per 24 hour in GMT?
24h period in game/since the last time trust increased yeah
Is there a better way to make kill creature and kill sentinel missions spawn? They dried up for me everywhere even if I fly a thousand LY away from the expedition it seems.
Do you get penalized for taking a mission and abandoning it?
just do other missions, even if they're not for the exp guild
that will replace them with other missions after turn in, and usually another exp guild mission will appear
@fresh jewel i claimed the jetpack reward when being on a dead planet.
Was awesome to fly really high into the orbit lol
how can i check my standing with the explorers guild
Try doing "Explorer's Guild" missions in Korvax systems, since your standing is already increased there. If you're in V or G systems, you need to level up with G or V missions before you will see "Explorer's Guild" missions to choose from.
It should be only two, maybe three, missions in Vy'Keen or Gek before you are leveled up enough.
yeah i have enough standing to get the explorers guild missions from all of them, but how do i check how much standing i have with the explorers guild?
only way i know in expeditions is checking what's the highest rank mission i can get (for each respective lifeform). maybe this page can offer more insight on ranks: https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Explorers_Guild
^^^ @modest hemlock, @heady wraith, @cedar lynx do any of you have any more insight on this, specific to Expedition?
The expedition itself only needs you to complete a set number of missions. You can check that in the milestone on the Expedition tab. Otherwise, I believe you can check guild ranks the same way you check ranks with the various races, which is on the Milestone tab on the "pause" screen
yeah, i don't remember seeing the milestone tab in Expeditions. that's why i figured i should ask.
It might not be there, not sure. For the Expedition, though, you just need 16 missions with the Explorer's Guild, doesn't matter what level they are
^^^ @cunning karma
ty so much, Tyndall
oh ok thanks
what happens to our saves once the expedition is over? they just become a normal save?
would doing anything while its still open (besides completing it obv) benefit your main save?
Once the expedition event itself ends, the save will convert to Normal mode (when you open it and save it). Players can continue to play with that save, doing the main questlines like in other game modes. The rewards you get from the expedition (the ones you get from completing phases, that can be claimed at the QS store in the Space Anomaly), those are cross-save and you can claim them in any and all other saves.
ah ok
one of the explorers guild missions sent me to a system to take a photo of a "strange world" what does that mean?
paradise, abandoned, poisonous, empty, and frozen
Try the abandoned, and when you switch missions in the log- the popup will have more details. So switch away and back to that mission if that isn't the planet
yeah i think that was it
there i finally completed the expedition
should i put it in the egg modifier in the anomaly or just hatch it as it is in my main save
or is that just personal preference for the aesthetics of it
oh nvm you can't
nice!
took me 10 hours
that's awesome! you must've stayed pretty focused
followed the speedrunning guide and tried to stick to it as much as possible
You can sequence the Sentinel egg, it just doesn't change much. I was able to change the size and speech patterns but not the color
i tried putting it in the sequencer but all the things were locked
second RV point is not showing up for me. How can I find it?
Can't find the system, or can't find the RV point itself on the planet?
I don't get a marker for it in the system. I am in the right system
don't know which planet
it's on Joycer
I dropped a red/white save beacon on it, it's at -34, -136 ish
sometimes, I had to select something else in my log, and then go back to the expedition and select the RV point for it to show up
thanks. I logged out now but I should be able to find it now
Interesting. Someone set up a base at the rendezvous 5 location and they were on the space anomaly. I just ported to what looked like an unusual planet and it turned out to be the location of the final rendezvous so I've got the rendezvous 5 expedition milestone checked off and I've only been to the second rendezvous legit so far. The eye horror
How many cakes do I need to give Cronus to "impress" him?
You can give him the same cake multiple times, just get in and out of your ship to make a save then go up to him and give him the cake. If he is not completely satisfied just reload the auto save and keep trying.
it doesn't even have to be a cake
any food that has several steps to processing, as long as you trip the rng (once every 3-4 times)
Like what
If it doesnt have to be cake, then the easiest to make is probably Iced Screams. Takes a Hypnotic Eye and a Frost Crystal. The hypnotic eyes can be acquired from the eyeball abyssal horrors underwater (iirc, thats part of a milestone)

I'm struggling with the Terrestrial Snaps challenge where I have to take a screenshot of 10 animals
Does it work if some of them are dead ?
@hoary coral not sure about that. just try to find a planet that seems well populated, find a group and throw out a pellet
dont feed an individual one, toss the pellet to feed the whole group
that's what I've been doing. Wasted around 30 pellets and even if I got 10 or more the snap mechanic doesn't seem to be very accurate
Doesn't recognize all 10 of them
try planets Raymr or Joycer. raymr is in rdv1 system, joycer in rdv2
check the pins if you need help finding your way back to those systems

Okay like
Uh
How many missions do I need to do for explorers guild
Is it 16 mission rep or is it 16 rank
you need to do 1 missions for the explorers guild
Okay I really liked this one base I found in expedition
But I can't remember the planets
It was a giant square ring centered around a landing pad, with a room branching off for a wall of carbon grows and like five antimatter generators
It was literally just called something like "Carbon and Antimatter"
It was very early in the expedition I think
Anyone able to help with this expedition?
Looking for a planet with a beetle and another planet with a diplo
both can be found in the pins
Ty
looking for a few more exotic animals if anyone could show me some!
@stone cosmos theres 5 at rdv systems. 3 in the 5th rdv, 1 each in the 4th and 3rd
check the pins for their names, use a station teleporter to return to those systems
aight yea ill recheck those systems
What kind are you looking for cuz my friend got T rexs
Anyone got any expeditions
?

there's also a pin for beetles from which you can get craw milk
you
ll probably find at one of the space stations at a rendevous planet, bases "craw milk here" and such
that's also a good way to get it done if you are in a hurry
Butterflies, beetles and proto flyers give craw milk
but you will want beetles later anyways (check the milestones)
You guys and gals are all crazy helpful. Thank you so much.
I guess I am too late to start and finish the 5th expidition
I've seen people saying they got it all done in like 10 hours or something like that... I bet you can do it.
Thanks Bones I think I will give it a try tomorrow.
it finishes apr 4, you can do it!
the first, redux, was cut back a lot from the first original
the third I got a bad spawn in which really made it the most unpleasant of the bunch
this one here was a bit tedious for those explorer guild missons, but otherwise pretty chill

Any hints on finding a Deep Space Sentience?
@opal eagle one of the other milestones right before that one gives a detector thingy
Not related to the actual expedition tips, but I'm finding this in the expedition and Im confused: Who is Sean Mark? In the path between rendezvous points, there's several planets seemingly named because of his death, but I cant find who it is on google
as jihiro mentioned, complete Ancestors milestone phase 5, then craft the deep space lure item, use it, then pulse until hailed
The planet names are "In Memory of Sean Mark" "He will remain in our hearts" and "Sean Mark loved animals, especially cats"
No idea
Probably
Nani
Does anyone have the portal coordinates for that grass planet in the first rendezvous system?
I’m trying to set up a base there in my normal play through that I’m gonna be doing soon
@cerulean panther the portal coords of each rdv is listed in the pins
Okay sweet thanks
Does a gaseous sentience not count towards the deep-space sentience milestone?
I just met one and no reward
Sean Mark is Sean Murray's second clone
need to use the deep space lure (obtained from the Ancestors milestone) to spawn it
Where's the swamp planet?
No clue
Actually I lied
If you go to the planet we found where you can get beetle companions (check pinned messages) theres a “Quagmire” planet, just scan on of the creatures in there and boom ur set
Thanks
But I met it naturally without lure. You have to use the lure to get the milestone?
I believe so; I did the same thing and didn't get the milestone until I first used the lure.

a week to go before this expd save turns into a normal one at last
I'm a couple of quests away from the jetpack
I was wondering just now doing all the expeditions, do we have do to do expeditions on a new save ?
I'm having trouble with an exosuit expansion unit. I go to the locker looking thing in a station and the option is missing.
I got it working but I had to purchase a slot for 5k units first.
With this expedition you have to buy a slot for the expansion units to work (for some reason)
Does the rewards you get from expedition go over to another save?
JellyMan, every expedition is done on a fresh save
but the phase rewards (backpack. quad dog. etc) are ones you can claim later on any save, once per save
Thank you apergos, I appreciate the help
sure thing
Can you modify the sentinel companion egg?
@wooden gate theres a pin in #nms-fauna with all that info
Thanks!
I got to rendezvous point 2. Is there anything major to do there?

sorry for noob question but in reference to the post by gunter bot, how do I enable link preview so I can click the link ?

weird that is enabled but nothing to click in the bots post

if you can't see that, may need a restart
It is just a listing for that system and some things you can find on the planets there

go to a few worlds, you'll find them

For the photo mode, does nms know when I take a ss or can I just open the camera option
Like how does that even work cuz stg I have 10 creatures in it
photo mode and if you're on console you can't hold the share button to take it, you have to tap the share button and let the bottom menu pop up to take the screenshot
that's generally true of photo missions
AHH why is this so hard to do
Bro this is so stupid
Any tips to get these animals near me
What worked for me was to drop a bunch of Creature Pellets on the ground. If you go to your quick menu, to the Creatures (pawprint) menu, there should be an icon for Creature Pellets, if you have some in your inventory. If you activate that icon from the quick menu, you drop pet food on the ground instead of giving it to one directly.
That helped them gather up. Then, I went into photo mode, moved the camera around, and spammed shots until I got it.
For sure thank you so much man
I am going to start milking Gek if I can't find a damned beetle tonight. 5 days of searching.

Is there any particular way I should be finding unusual and swamp planets
If anyone needs milk or eggs for the exped (wrapping up soon) I will be sitting at the RDV3 point for the next hour or so sharing what surplus I have
is this expedition's rewards totally cosmetic?
except the sentinel doggo
sentinel doggo is best pet
I wish we could pet other people's pets 🙂
Ooof, I was trying to get one of the Expedition milestone done (Reach Explorers Guild level 16) before the end of the event. Apparently you only get those missions in the space station if you're in somewhat good standing with the system's main race.
Long story short, don't go to town at the frigates and freighters in a piracy frenzy before doing that lol
Haha, yeah
At least, you can hop to a different system to get a different race, which may help
I checked my savegame in a save editor, I was like -186 reputation with the Vy'keen, woopsies
ouuuuch
And just -24 with the Gek, so at least I could salvage that one.
Thing is, in an Expedition save you can't see the info, since the Expedition tab takes the place of the reputation and stats tab (I don't recall its actual name)
Milestones, I think, but yeah
that's the one

in the "Fight like a ukrainian" system

Marshy

@devout hemlock check pinned post for planetary coords lat/long for rdv sites
Finally finished the expedition on PlayStation
congrats!
is there any documented S class mt around the expedition location?
If you look at this
Look at swamp biomes, and you will see
Maybe not, but you can always farm cabinets til you get one
As long as it's a 2 or 3 star system
Yeah I'll go around
Do you know how to farm cabinets?
yep
Oki 👍🏻
thanks:)
How do u find that system? Do u just like search around?
I can't speak for OP, but in that first photo it shows the Limaav-Dolmu system, which is the Rendezvous 1 system, so it's not that far off the expedition path. Probably just came across it while making their way toward the RDV point.
Ahh for sure for sure. Thanks for the help
Anyone know where I can find tall eggs
striders (tall two legged critters) have them
I believe the r3? planet has them, aggro sentinels though.
Is there a way for me to know which system is r3?
yes, there's a list of all the systems that the bot can give but I don't remember the command to show it
Fs thank you
got it, it's in the bot spam channel
Finishing up the expedition? For the next hour or so, I'll be at the Rendezvous 3 point on New Muleighle, sharing extra eggs, milk, cake batter, etc. Good luck out there!
I beat the expedition without having to make an Indium drive because someone apparently made a base at the site of rendezvous 5 so when I ported over it just put me on that planet in front of the portal and I was able to go to the space station to come back later if I wanted. 😅
Just grinding explorers missions left for me. The worst
I have explorers missions and cooking left
I'm leaving cooking for the end
Btw in case you haven't noticed
The egg milestone gives you larval cores
Which can be used to bake some cakes cronus apparently really likes
Is the multi-mission stack completion patched for explorer's guild?
I don't think so
I don't think it was even unintended
Yeah, I do that in my non-expedition saves. (and of course I did in the expedition too 🙃)Can't see why it would be an issue, tbh.
missions are meant to stack afaik
is there a way to check my standing ? I swear i have done over 10 missions for explorer and still cant do a level 4 mission
not while in expeditions unfortunately ^^;
they hide the milestones tab sadly
Why do you have to collect so many dung samples
Also can I just pick up like 10 of the same mission and then complete them all at the same time
Sort of. The "Deliver X item" missions you can kind of stack, but you'll still have to make multiple deliveries. The "Scan X Creatures (or minerals)" are the easiest to stack; flag the one with the most and you'll fulfill the others along the way. I tend to avoid the "Client desires a photo of X" missions because they can be frustratingly specific about meeting the requirements (without telling you explicitly what those are).
And, yeah it's still... a lot, but you can get a good jump on the dung collecting by tossing a bunch of creature pellets on the ground, and hopefully fill the quests for feeding 10+ creatures at a time, and taking a photo with 10+ creatures.
How do you toss them on the ground?
If you have creature pellets in your inventory, access your quick menu (X on keyboard, or down on D-pad), from there choose the Creature Companions menu (pawprint), and then you should get an icon for Creature Pellets. Use it, and you'll toss a food on the ground, rather than feed it directly to an animal.
One use in this way can feed multiple animals.
(and now I've got the Cookie Cat song stuck in my head...)
you can also stack the 'cull creatures' missions (for which bio horrors and the jellies that come when you mine underwater, count)
Cull creatures/feed creatures/kill sentinels were super easy to stack (for me). I hit a few systems off the beaten path and knocked it out really quickly.

phase 3 done, time to finish up phase 2, 4 and 5 and be done with this woo
btw is the bot time more accurate than in-game timer?
bot's timer is based on game file. game's "time remaining" seems to be rounded off...
ah, that would explain things. Thanks for the answer!
so I can safely also do the expedition tomorrow and on monday, right?
best of luck! def let us know if you need help with any of the milestones
yeah, as long as players have started the save file 48 hours before that "end time", you have till then to finish it
just beware of any timers associated with companions and eggs
I finished that early on
same. i've been a slow poke finishing it up myself
egg sequenced, pet to 100% trust done
smort
nice!
since nothing else is time based as far as I remember
the guild missions were time consuming for some too. so make sure to pick up a ton of those along the path with same objective so you can get them done at the same time sorta thing
ah yea I'm gonna do pretty much those at the end, dedicating a day for that
prolly tmr or on monday
as shit, 16 rep? that's honestly brutal
yeah, one of the toughies for many. hence why it's best picking up a bunch of those missions from every korvax system space station at least, preferably the ones that are culling creatures, and save them up till you're ready to do their objectives
I will however not claim the finished up phase rewards
for now
as I kinda did an oopsie with mods and I need to recover my main save from my desktop pc
this will definitely involve me screwing out the wifi antennas, playing it offline once to make the save appear "fresher" to the cloud, very carefully backing up the existing save set, screwing them back in, letting it sync, switching out the corrupted synced save for the proper one and praying it works
and if it works, then I will claim the rewards
ouch ouch ouch
possibly, would disconnecting before launching work? maybe
but I have no idea when Steam syncs the saves
so I want to be EXTRA safe
(if anyone is curious what went down: didn't know a mission skip was included in the package, removed the mod, few missions restart, "wtf", check, oh they got reset by the mod)
hope you get it all sorted
question, what lies in the sea? or something like that phase 4 mission
do I need the horror to catch me first
because I killed one without its ray beam doing things and it didnt count
You need to ||get caught in the eye beam|| and then ||struggle to escape|| (you'll get a prompt for how to)

Keep it well-fed and pet it to keep its affection full. It does take some time, but the companion you started with starts at like 80% so you ought to be able to do it. Just, keep checking on it and don't let its hunger or affection get into the yellow, keep 'em both full or in the green
should
it starts at 90 or 95%
you summon it, pet and feed it to fill the meters once
dismiss
repeat the next day
5% each day, that's it
yes you will make it in two days.
again, summon once each day, that's all you need.

if I don't finish phase 5 then eehhh it's ok tbh, because I finished phase 4 lmfao
Some people have said 10-11 hours, possibly less. Some of it can take some time, esp the explorer mission rep grind. And, as it is ending very, very soon, I want to say if you haven't started the save 48 hours prior to the schedule end time, it won't let you start? (I think...)

he still can make a save!
Yup yup, ought to at least start & save so you can give it a go 🙂
just remember to start the save, summon the "starter pet", pet him till he gets 95% trust and get the lad to lay an egg
checked game and it says 2 hours remaining cuz it's rounding off, but it should technically be 2 hours 58'ish minutes remaining to start the new save
after that, the game will lock new save file creation
Hail, interlopers! I'll be hanging out at RDV3 on New Muleighle for the next hour or two, sharing extra eggs, milk, cake mix, and whatnot for the expedition. If you're on console and can't chat, wave at me and do the "I need resources!" gesture, and we'll get ya set up. Good luck out there!
also sending here, portal glyphs for the beetle planet as it has some kewl flying creatures you may wanna get as a pet on your main save!
I know I will get a butterfly from there once I fix up my main save
had made a save the previous weekend, but had no time to play it
asked cause it's ending soon, good to know that i can still make it
11h gonna be rough xD
How much time do we have left. Also, are there any "time gates" after phase 3?
2 days
Thanks

Phase 5 has you earn 16 standing with the Explorers Guild, so you ought to be doing those along the way if possible. Also make sure you're feeding and petting your starter companion to get it 100% trust
big thanks!
I need to go make dinner, but if you need eggs or milk for phase 3 and you're near Rendezvous 3, i can hop on rq and share
no thanks, I finished phase 3.
is there a particular planet type ive got to go to in order to find diplo creatures?
im stuck on phase 3
@winter obsidian #nms-legacy-ships message
I was offline for a bit, but I'm back at the RDV3 point on New Muleighle sharing eggs, milk, and cake mix, if you're still stuck in phase 3
I hope they do another redux for expeditions so I can get the other ones done on PlayStation.
I'm sure they will

are u still there ;-;
I just switched saves but I can be. One sec.
oh oki ill make my way there just starting the game
ok 🙂
okay im on my way,,,
omg sorry i forgot where it wasahhahaha im lost!!
I'm at the third rendezvous point, on New Muleighle
Swamp planet?
I don't think New Muleighle counts as a swamp planet
oh okaok on my way
omg im. So sorry im so far away and i need to like manually wArp Ahhahaha
No worries, I'm just sittin here watching a movie.
im like over the planet
Wasn't asking
Where swamp planet
What rdvz
The rendezvous point is at +31.63, +45.20; when you get close, you should see my name and can home in.
Raven, I'm still at the RDV3 point on New Muleighle sharing milk and eggs. Not sure about a swamp planet, maybe check the pinned messages
Coming
@solid lark you can also find a lot of the information you need in the pins
Yes
But no swamp
The pins don't have anything swamp
Just eggs, milks, exotic, and creatures
hmm i think the suggestion for that is to visit the Featured Bases on the anomaly. i believe one is on a swamp planet
im here but i cant see u ;-;
You're at those coordinates on the planet New Muleighle?
Ye wait ill send a. Screenshot at the screenshot channel
that's so weird. and you're playing the expedition?
I'm gonna reload, one sec
i was wondering how you guys were planning on doing this...
im in asia so it might be a server thing?
youre almost surely both in different instances
youll need to share friends code and join each other that way
Im in Canada
My friend code is part of my tag, go ahead and add me
oh oki oki
I thought the planets and space stations etc were all in the same instance, that it was only the anomaly that had multiple instances
im joining thru multiplayer
im by no means a MP expert since i never use it but i think theres a limit to how many people can be in the same place
i want to say 32? but idk
@compact meteor I'm adding you
ok
thank u! @compact meteor
You're welcome! Good luck with the rest!
Just kidding
No I'm not
My PS4 fan just decided to go formula 1 levels of speed out of nowhere
So I'm gonna take a break
Thankfully there's nothing super hard left to do
Ah this point the hardest is getting the dung samples
ok. I'm wrapping up for the night soon, but if you're still looking tomorrow, feel free to ping me and we can meet. Good luck with the rest of the exped!
Fairly certain I can crank those out tomorrow
(also tell me how I fed like twenty creatures for that 10 group following and didn't get a single dung???)
I notice some creatures don't give dung which is
Come the fuck on, HG

if it helps anyone here, there's a swamp planet in a Gek system called Hohoeli super near Rdv 5 system (really pretty too) - planet's name is Rysitho V33 (Endless Morass). way i found it was by picking up an explorers guild mission that had me take a photo in a marsh/swamp planet, so the game pointed me to it
@edgy dock what is the name of the rdv 5 system? i havent gotten there yet so i havent gotten a waypoint for it

man the only one i havent gotten is the trust one from phase 2: /
im at like 95% with the first companion anyone know how to get that like 5% done fast?
summon it, feed and pet it until meteres full, dismiss, wait 24 hours
that's the 5%
it's that much every dau
day
and actually you should check the register right after you dismiss to see if it gives it to you immediately or 24h after but there is a 24h wait between increases
dang
if worse comes to worse could i just do the moving windows time forward trick

i wonder if its eggs will hatch into the same thing has anyone tested that yet?
They do
can the eggs be given to people?
Yes
alright, noted
is there anything else i should do in here before it ends now that ive finished all the milestones?
Some people continue to use it as another game, I make sure that I have claimed all the rewards and then once it converts I delete it.
if i deploy a base in this save can i come back to that base on another save?>
It won't be owned by that other save, but yes

I think bases you create on one save ar enot visible to you on another from the same account, no?
Does anyone know what the time-line usually is for a new expedition to begin once one ends?
it really depends
Hmk hmk...
could be a couple weeks, could be after the switch update
https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Expeditions some past history (you'll need to look up the updates that came out in between)
Thanks!
sure!
get your frigates in order, make sure you have a nice stash of nanites, all the usual stuff...
Yea for sure
you know that each expedition is on a new save, right?
Yep
ok 🙂
But the unlocks from the quicksilver vendor are on every save ya?
yes they are
Primo 👌
yes, that's a really nice feature
Glad I came back to this game... been a long time
it used to be you hand to grind for all of those on every save, absurd
welcome back!
Weird
wait they are?
so I can actually use the quicksilver I got from some expedition mission
in the vendor and get something cool?
oh sickk
uh
you can't transfer the quicksilver itself
but if you get a nonconsumable (not a void egg, not fireworks)
then that is available on all your saves. every single one.
get some cosmetic item like a banner or a helmet? avaialble on all saves. a base part? available on all saves. etc.
didn't know that
I thought the quicksilver was useless but apperantely that's not the case! thanks for the info
sure!

that's the one I need to memorize, clearly
you can also type !expedition and the bot will tell you
I just have to remember to type out the whole word
Can you send a pick please
Oh oh found it
Okay it's in a big cluster of gek systems, 160 Lys from r5
yay! so glad you found it. was a nice find, cuz it's a beautiful planet too
There's like four of five other gek systems near it
But the LY is the most important part
I hate PlayStation
Screenshots are so annoying to work with on PS
That's three milestones done there
Aquatic, swamp creatyre, and swamp planey
Update: fuxk
It syncs immediately on steam launch
And unscrewing the wifi antennas didnt stop it from connecting to my wifi
Gotta save edit my save then, to make it appear as if I completed the missions that got reset
sweeet! thank you so much for adding more info in case it helps anyone else
How do I make a cake
if you pin the milestone it should give you instructions, but this presumes you have flour from the previous milestone reward
do you?
if not, go get some: frost crystal -> glass grains -> flour in the nutrient process, or
heptaploid wheat -> flour in the nutrient processor
But if it gives recipe from milestone I'll do that
Still need warm proto milk
you don't have to have proto-milk for the cake batter but you do need i for the one milestone
Ywah
You need all the milk in your inventory iirc
Yesh
You need all 20 milk in your inventory at once for the milestone
unfortunately so
Raven, I still have extra eggs, milk, and cake batter if you want to add me and meet up
I think it still works that if you auto-save before feeding Cronus, you can reload if he's not thrilled

I finished the expedition a week or two ago, but have claimed my 5 minute jetpack ride. Thinking of going to a low grav airless planet and launching my traveler into orbit. Anyone other cool ideas I should consider?
@fresh jewel from what i remember, it doesnt work the way youre probably thinking
you wont continue to go up and up like when you normally jetpack, instead it will be like you hit a ceiling and then your only movement will be horizontal
also you need to make sure you claim that reward so you can complete the whole expedition
its ending in like 18 hours or so
Not to worry. They're all complete and that one is the only reward I've not claimed. I've claimed all others including all phase rewards. On the final page is says it's complete.
hmm i guess i misremembered how it worked xD

yes you can
I did the slowest thing possible, went to all stations and then jumped to new ones to stack a single kind of mission. and then did the one mission for all 16 at once. took betwen 2 and 3 hours, I stoppped to collect graves on the way. you can be much faster and less selective in stacking too
