love the colors. only thing i'd try to improve personally, if it was up to me, is the angle, so those elements like the flora towards the bottom of the shot aren't abruptly cut off. sometimes increasing the field of view can make it easier to fit more into your shot. but changing the angle can also help the composition look a little more balanced...

The in game photomode has some settings to mess around with, it's better than just f12 imo. You can also set steam up to capture uncompressed shots

whenever i'm trying to get a nature shot or something while exploring, and there's no buildings around, i often will make a hole in the ground, in a spot that the hole won't be visible in the screenshot, and then drop inside and activate photo mode

what also works is going in the water, just floating at the water level will stop storm effects

my advice is usually go where you see the most communication stations or just follow the target sweep

it's sorta unavoidable to avoid the harsh weather. just gotta have the modules ahead of time or the sodium/ion batteries to sustain yourself

Few tips centered around the Anomaly

The game still tracks the normal mode milestones (travel on foot, extreme sols, learning words) - you can visit Ares to get nanites from reaching those milestones

And since this expedition is so relying on scanning creatures, you can give that data to Helios for more nanites

You can use the teleporter aboard Space Anomaly to visit community bases which will progress 2 biomes for the Sightseer milestone (dead and swamp)

And as always, if you struggle with finding a system to discover animals in it - go offline so that game won't be able to download data from the servers to check whether these animals were already discovered

Eystem XIX and Sinpande both are kill 15 creatures.
Enoske II and Awleya-Guchi V have 250-Paraffinium deliveries; get them both and it'll only take 250 for the both of them.

Niatiem-Gac has "take photo on Marsh" which might help finding the swamp if you still need it :P

Oh also Surgansk XII, Emkhod, and Xandrov VIII (Rdv3) have "kill 3 sentinels"

I made two Expedition 5 bases which some may find useful. They should both be uploaded by now, and can be found via any Teleporter.

The planet also has Ancient Bones and someone built a Runaway Mould farm a short distance away.

The location with the 3 types of milk (planet on rendezvous 2 system) is also very easy to complete the dung collecting, and the 2 group animals tasks. Just throw pellets to the ground and the animals will start coming and amassing.

The first system has the arctic/cold planet that we spawned into and another planet that is lush (although the description is something else).

You milk or collect eggs by feeding an animal and then interacting with it after it has been fed. The menu will give you the option of adopting it, collecting a resource (egg or milk or else), and riding it.

Try to find a paradise planet. You won’t have any trouble finding a big group, and just feed 5 of them or so. They’ll follow you and you should have enough to get a picture of 10. You can do the dung samples at the same time

It's only 29ly away from the RDV system there. So it's super close. If you put on the lifeform filter, it will show as red

First space station I went to I couldn’t even do the explorers guild mission as it was too high level requirement for me

If you're still working on this, Korvax systems will give you Explorer's Guild missions, since we received standing with them from another reward. For Gek and Vy'keen systems, just do a couple of their missions, and then the Explorer's Guild missions will appear. It is grindy only if you're trying to do it all at once. You still have three weeks or more of time, so you don't need to. And you can do other things other than just the mission, like scan creatures etc. Good luck

what did you add to cake batter to impress chronus?

cake batter+cream = cream buns, that should work, you might need to feed him more than 1 cream bun though (cronus reaction is sorta random)

i used

milk > cream > churned butter;
churned butter+processed sugar > sweetened butter;
sweetened butter+refined flour+(creature/tall/giant) egg > cake batter;
impulse beans > bittersweet cocoa;
cake batter+bittersweet cocoa > chocolate cake

To add on to this: if you take the destroy sentinels mission early on, you can use the station terminus to warp to a base nearby a sentinel pillar. Deactivate the sentinels and it'll count towards the goal for this mission.
You can also choose to abandon missions, which will give you another in its place. Something to not here though is that you may lose standing with a particular guild (I've had this happen with the Merchants Guild). So be sure to save just before doing this.

Even better: for the destroy sentinels missions, warping from a space station to the a sentinel pillar base counts against the mission total. Haven't tested with bases and space stations in different systems but I'm assuming the deactivation timer would reset anyway.
Easiest place to do this from is the Wutonym system. Look for the base called SentinelPillar CrashedFreighter.
