I got this beauty after farming for 1 hour 40 mins. Took about 28 tries.

I only found one pirate controlled system but it does not trigger the pirate attack.
Only when I jump to a system with high conflict, the animation happens 🙁
The freighter has a scanner that can tell you the system status, but I am not sure if it unlocked for everything or just that one. I don't wanna waste 8x upgrades.

Right now I am jumping blindly hoping to get into a pirate controlled system.

From time to time, Sentinels on the planet get some bug or something so they do not stop looking, I have to enter the Space Station for the game to "quit" that action.
I would assume raiding a freighter will set the sentinels off until you can board it?!

Yes, of course I was reloading after each try until It became an S-Class. There are numerous guides about it on this discord or on google/reddit. Everyone who decides to farm an S-class freighter do it that way. Otherwise it would take quite long, maybe even hundreds of hours to find just one. Chances are also depending on the system you are warping in.

How exactly does the game track the 3 hours and 5 warps? Is it 5 warps after three hours have passed or will it trigger as soon as both criteria have been met independently?

I think that's just when the game forces an encounter; I've had back to back to back fights happen just trying to travel long distance.

So far ive had little luck forcing an encounter. Every time i find one, i complete it, check the freighters classes, and then reload to last restore point, after which nothing happens on warp. Except one time, where all the ships despawned as i tried to enter a freighter

Only when you accept the ship or the reward, I dont even leave the ship til I pull out my scanner and look at it

Then dont accept reward, just reload without even going on the freighter

So I have not really been ship hunting frequently myself, but I've found this cool fighter a while ago and I'm wondering if this was a good role.

I initially found a B-Class version, which after rerolling for a while seemed to be above average compared to other B-Class iterations of it.

However I also managed to snack an S-Class, it has good base damage but its shield stat is lower than that of the B-Class version. Would upgrading the B-Class one result in a better S-Class than the natural one? Or do the core stats of its B-Class state not carry over at all and it's instead randomized what becomes of it after upgrading to A/S-Class?

Above average B-class doesn't necessarily translate into above average A and S-Class when upgrading right? Anyways, have some pics for reference, maybe its a good roll after all? The low shield stat is just putting me off a bit

It's shield stat being lower is because the B-Class one has a shield upgrade installed

While the S-Class version does not

Also, you have placed the pulse engine in a supercharged slot and still have the rocket launcher installed, both of which will inflate the base stat readings

Despite all of that, I wouldn't worry about stat variances like that, an S-Class fighter will always do S-Class fighter stuff with upgrades installed

at least the damage potential seems to be almost maxed out for s-class base so thats already something ig

One thing to note is that the "Damage Potential" on the ship's overall stats is very misleading, and really only goes up when new weapons systems are installed which makes no sense

And the individual weapon "DPS" stats are also kinda misleading when comparing between different weapons since a 10,000 dps photon cannon does the same work that a 50,000 infra-knife accelerator will do

If you have multiplayer enabled, somebody in the instance may have grabbed the ship already, just disable multiplayer and try saving/reloading

Also, if there is a player base near the crash site, report it using the quick menu so that it disappears, them being near it can make the ship "take off" for some reason

All the ships are comparable in performance, both of those types have alternate fueling methods - the sentinel can hover while the living ship cannot (not a game changer)

It took me longer to unlock the goddamn intergalactic scanner than finding the freighter lmao it makes things so much easier.
It sucks that you must waste 5 salvaged frigate module to unlock the matter beam first, and then another 3 with the intergalactic scanner.
I had 7 so Minotaur to the rescue.

I expected to take forever to find a Class S so I will keep playing for fun hoping to find a S30 or even better S34, there is a ton of C34 lmao
If I don't find it within a 1h or 2, I will just use all the cargo bulkhead I have.
Coz of the scanner, there is another system controller by pirates a jump away, plus I have earned around 99M units 💸

I found infra knife so weak 😅
I couldn't fight pirates with it until I tried Cycloton Ballista.

Pirate shield goes down faster than I can blink, the sentinel beam does the rest. It's awesome against shielded ships.

With the pirate freighter, 5-6 shots with the Cyclotron Ballista and the cannon is down. It does heat fast tho but worth it, I couldn't get infra knife to do half of the damage it does.

True, Cyclotron are on supercharged slot and they aren't even half of your setup 😅 but does a good damage, "dog fight" with infra knife was driving me insane with pirates, not anymore with Cyclotron.

you need the Q-Resonator tech upgrade for the infraknife to be good, the one upgrade straight up triples its DPS by adding two extra projectiles per shot

it goes from an underwhelming anti-hull weapon to probably the best pure dps weapon in the game

I had it but as the description goes, it says it is weak against shielded ship, and indeed dog fighting pirate ships was stressful asf with it coz the shield does not come down.
Cyclotron takes it down easily without requiring Class X mods, I only have it positioned into supercharged slots so it is easy to be replicated by other players.
The bonus is that it goes hard against shielded target, without shield it almost takes 1/4 damage per shot ( that little circle that shows the damage taken).
I will look at infraknife again one day haha

I wanted a freighter for two main reasons, its scanners and to call Minotaur within extreme weather planets so I don't have to build a base every single planet I land.
Looking closer, I can also have my storage in there, I waste so much time flying back to my base coz I ran out of space or because I need something that is within one of the storage. Those annoying problems now are gone with the freighter.
I will just focus on unlocking all the "engines" like there is one that is 800ly jump or something.

you can do these same things with the corvette and an exosuit module tbh

the freighter has some unique use cases for doing stuff like dropping it in a star system and letting it farm gas for you, doing frigate missions and mass scanning a planet

but you can have storage pods on your corvette

and you can get an exosuit module that lets you summon your exocraft

freighter is probably better for doing stuff like farming/growing plants too if you don't want to have a static base, but yea

TL;DR: Collecting forever-free Frigate Salvage, Freighter BulkHead, Spaceship Augmentation (Mining tool and Exosuit slots) from the Guild.

This has to be the easiest non-hacking way to get free-forever all the above, but it has a high initial cost before it is all free.
I have been playing since 5PM, 0:30AM now lmao
I will try to make it short:

1. Go to any Space Station teleport, go to the Stations menu and take note of the 3rd Station at the top, go all the way down and warp to that station, I have 50x stations.

3. See what donations is required, I used all my near 40x Exosuit charts, dozens Salvaged techs, all the crappy I have been collecting these 100h of game
4. At first you mainly donate, those upgrades require Master or Exalted rank. Exalted rank is no joke, 40x donations and takes foreeeeeever.
5. Master rank is easy to unlock and you will start redeeming those things for free.
6. Once you reached that 3rd station you took note, repeat to collect from the guilds you could only donate before.
7. Repeat until you have collected from them all

There must be a a day or week cool down but it does not matter, jump to another system you haven't been before, visit the Guild to collect free Frigate Salvage, Freighter BulkHead, Spaceship Augmentation (Mining tool and Exosuit slots)

When u travel to a pirate system and trigger a pirate dreadnought battle, if you destroy it before it surrenders fully u can get a S class upgrade.

Alternatively, you can also destroy npc freighters in non pirate systems to get S class upgrades

The meaning of the game is what you give it, really, if you feel a sense of satisfaction by collecting things, they let you collect them, if, however, you feel a sense of acomplishment by doing it the "right" non cheating way, then they provide that experience too

Like, for me it felt really great to craft my own staff, hunt down parts and make my corvette and everything.

But I spent a long time searching for a white sentinel ship and couldn't find it, so I eventually gave up and found the coordinates for one on the internet. would it feel better to have found one myself? Yes. Does it still feel great to ride around on my white sentinel ship? Also yes.

I also really want the wraith living ship, I'm hoping there will be a rerun of the expediton but, if there isn't and I'm still playing, next year, I may use a save editor

It would feel much better to run the expedition but it will still feel great to just own it.

For this reason, why would me possibly owning the ship through save editor make someone else feel worse in a mostly single player game? Even if I'm playing in multiplayer, people are unlikely to ever see me in the game and, even if they did, we probably won't interact in any meaningful manner and me having a beautiful ship, or one min/maxed through "cheating' won't affect anyone whatsowever, so, why do people care?

If you care so much, then just feel superior in the knowledge that you got your things without any cheating and be happy.

Now, if the game was heavily multiplayer or pvp, then we'd have a problem with cheating.

That's hard, if you're doing the first time mission, then, when you finally have everything, you can avoid saving the game while doing the last part of the quest, then approach the ship while flying and check out it's model, if you don't like it, you can reload and try again if you don't leave your ship, I think this works.

I also heard that you can refuse the ship as many times as you want until you find one you like, but I'm not sure, haven't tried, you can try if you're feeling risky or have extra quicksilver.

But by far the easier way is to finish the first quest, then buy a second egg, pulse in space until you start hatching the new egg. It will give you the location of a new living ship, ignore that and look on the internet for the coordinates of a living ship model you like.

Use the portal to reach it, then go to the living ship quest and re-start the quest with local resources, it should move the living ship to the one in the sistem you're currently on.

Sentinel ships with 4 adjacent supercharged slots are probably the best right now, but the difference isn't really that great, you can use pretty much any ship and reach almost the same level

hey guys, I have hopped back in after a few years and my freighter is all messed up. I had a pretty extensive build out before, but now there are invisible walls, and all sorts of things in the way. I was able to build a bulkhead, travel outside and put a bulkhead on one of the upper floors, but I'm not sure how to reconnect (or if I should even try to reconnect)

is there any way to get back to a functioning freighter?

Maybe try and replace it with a different freighter, it will cause your base parts to reload. Hopefully that might help

if your talking about the planetary corvette part spots then go to a planet with salvageable scrap modifier. cruise around in your corvette and exit the seat while in flight and look around. if you find one mark it and just light it up with your corvettes guns

otherwise if you need a specific part you gotta trade for it at a space station

This is semi-accurate, you can't claim them until you have gone through Ghosts in the Machine which leads you through your first freighter battle. After that the battles will spawn regardless if you accepted it or not

Yes, as all crash site classes are deterministic, so if you go to one that you know is S-Class then it will always have an S-Class ship

Yes, regular ship crash sites can have solar ships

regular crash sites can contain all of the types of starships found normally piloted by lifeforms, which includes Fighter, Explorer, Hauler, Shuttle, Exotic and Solar starships

each individual crash site will have a specific ship from that system though, at a specific class, all predetermined

which means it is all able to be catalogued and shared with others online in places like https://nmsce.com/, https://www.reddit.com/r/NMSCoordinateExchange/ etc

That is true, though the ones with crash sites will usually list their class in text or icon form in their image

though for interceptors this is less useful, these are the S-Class Sentinel Interceptor ships that I have found at the very least, mixed in with a bunch of other favorited junk

Im at work right now but i finally got the Sentinel Ship i was looking for! Ice color with Tank treads and full wings 🪽. Then i searched for S- Tier upgrades and nearly maxxed that out too! I just need to do more quick silver quests for Polo and Artimis figures to max out Mobolity (accidentally bought the expensive trails) 😅. But for now my S Class Sentinal can shred dreadnaughts in an instant.

Are you sure you disabled multiplayer beforehand too? NPC freighter positions are not saved, so saving and reloading should make it go away always

which is why it would reappear!

i change the slot for technology from normal to Supercharged, so that give me the specific capability.

like when i need fight i use all sc slots for weapons.

The Titan Stripes looks like this, and isn't available on Solar ships. None of the exclusive paint jobs are available to use on Explorer ships too
The 3 exclusive paint jobs also have a different pallet of colors, which are less saturated and replace the bright yellow colors with black and dark grey

You could build the Storage Containers aboard your freighter, which allows you to access them from the freighter inventory when on-board or in-system if the Matter Beam is installed!
