My issue is in that every time I am tryna make it look good, I either hit the limit on parts before then, parts are not orientable the right way or I need to build it extremely bulky in an awkward way so that it never looks good

You can use regular base parts on your Corvette after you finalize your actual build. So fill up your part limit in the editor how you like it, then greeble with some extra base parts.

I wouldn't recommend creative mode as a setting. I'd go normal and then you can tweak things there like turning purchases free or free crafting or whatever if you feel you are struggling. You can always make changes to the difficulty at any time.

At the camp theres a bunch of things to do if you explore and look around iteracting with stuff, and you can get a FREE sentinel multitool and find the location of the ship

Once you find the ship you kinda just do what the game says and gather the materials needed @unreal socket @brisk wraith

After that you can own the ship! they are rly cool looking and they can hover and be recharged differently

Dunno if anyone’s answered you yet, but the latest voyager update brings in corvette class ships, which are ships you build yourself at the space anomaly. These ships also give you the ability to walk around the inside of them, even in-flight, and you can now go for spacewalks. Most of the photos you’ll see in this channel lately will be/will have been people’s own corvettes they’ve made.
Hope this helped a bit, any questions you have, just ask.

that is exactly what I did

thankfully I found a planet that was relatively flat and spacious but all my salvages were anywhere from 500u-1200u apart

take about half an hour to an hour just to scavenge random parts with an exocraft like the bike then trade for what you need if you don't have it already

keep in mind that crucial parts like thrusters landing gear and reactors up your chances when trading massively

That's the icon that indicates a sentinel ship related mission is in that system, check your log for any "Salvage Site" ones

or any missions with that icon
