Can be placed by other player in your base if u set permissions for it. They wont be unlocked but u can move or copy them.

Exotic ships have a 1 in 301 chance to spawn as any ship in any star system, so sitting at a trade outpost and saving + reloading every time 5 ships land could get an exotic ship to land in hopefully less than an hour (since seeing more ships faster = increased chances)

You could do so in a star system where you've seen a design you want to get that design

You input those into a portal, to locate a portal you need to find a monolith and answer it's vision correctly, then offer a local race item (a Gek Relic, Korvax Casing or a Vy'keen Dagger) in exchange for the location of the portal

fastest way to get nanites, find a pirate system and buy all suspicius pocket arms and tech, open them up and sell them

it depends what you are looknig for as for how to build ships it all comes with time but its relitively easy if a bit lengthy to explain to new comers

I think a good start might be picking up a sentinal ship, I'll run through the steps:

1. Stock up on a lot of sodium to charge your current ships shields (2000 should do, but more isn't a bad thing)
2. Find a sentinal drone, tend to appear randomly on worlds but can be summoned by farming 3 star items like Gravitino ball
3. Land your ship next to the sentinal drone
4. Shoot at the sentinal drone
5. Get a 1 star bounty
6. Jump in your ship and flee out of the atmosphere
7. Kill wave upon wave of sentinal interceptors
8. Kill the Sentinal dreadnought freighter (there's 4 shield modules on the sentinal dreadnought, destroy those first, then gun down turrets or sit underneath it and keep shooting)
9. Get an item which is red and looks like a round computer screen
10. Use the item which is red and looks like a round computer screen
11. Follow the signal to a crash site
12. Find the sentinal ship
13. Take out all 3 items you can from the ship
14. Start the quest to harvest 3 radiant crystals and an inverted mirror, should allow you to scan for them while looking
15. Get the items then retrun to the sentinal ship. In your inventory there will be a flashing item, use it
16. Follow the new signal
17. Interact with sketchy ancient technology to make the brain of the ship chill
18. Go back to the sentinal ship and fix it
19. Revel in your mastery of the game and rinse and repeat as many times as you like
20. If the sentinal ship isn't what you're after, go to a space station and scrap it for easy 18-40 mil credits

It's advised to package all of that to your exosuit beforehand

After patiently waiting several days for various fleshy bits to mature, I finally acquired my Starbirth Living Ship. Although, I don’t know that I am a fan of living ships. I like the compact look when landed but not particularly fond of the stretching parts when in flight. Kinda wish they stayed sleek and compact.

Then go to that planet and land on it, and seek Dissonance Resonators using your Analysis Visor. You can walk up to them and point your camera at them to see what they will drop, you will need to find one that drops an Echo Locator.
