Yes, making nanites is pretty easy once you find a method, there are several ways. I usually upgrade ships using nanites instead of hunting for natural S class

It’s not cheating as you aren’t hurting anyone, using well documented methods, like refining runaway mold. You can make a killing using this method if you find a good source, and it doesn’t in any way grief or hurt other players. In fact, if you share a mold farm you can actually help others!

All that i do is using outlaw's space stations. Buying tech and weapon boxes and unpack, and sell those techs. Easy nanos.

Woot! Awesome. So the first two are collectibles you can find on the planet you're on

Scanner should show 'em. The first one ya mine, the second one ya destroy IIRC (careful, may spawn the lil shooty guys)

The third one requires you to "use" the red-lookin'-brain-thing you looted from that ship

That should give ya a "quest", which is a few second flight away

Then ya interact with the monolith there to get that last "harmonic brain" ya need (also check around for a pillar that pops out of the ground for a neato multitool)

Fly back to that crash site, pop in the items, and presto, spiffy ship

Is it possible for a system to have 2 dissonance planets? I've only ever encountered systems with a single dissonance planet until now. I scanned a system for a dissonance planet found it, started hunting dissonance resonators until I got a harmonic locator which lead me off planet to a moon with dissonance.

I'm not sure. The harmonic camp on the dissonance moon have crashed interceptors. I'm not sure about the other planet. Going to hunt down another locator see if I can get a harmonic camp to show up on the other planet. Never encountered this before

Glyph are the galactic coords, they are in reality numbers, i think there might be a conversion table here to get the glyphs out of a number sequence but i'm not sure

Eeesh ... I was using a portal last night that I think bugged. I was abled to enter it and exit and port home with another portal and it would still allow me to input glyphs to reuse it without charging me mats lol. I found two S class sentinels in one run. But then nothing else for the night at all.

Kepting finding sites and comm balls but no ships. I just dont get the 'land and wait for it to land' ship farm method lol

Seems like S class anything aside from Sentinel stuff is all washed over now

Fwiw, I found a YT resource that listed every fighter part from crashed S class fighters! I’ve been using that to build custom fighters. So far, it’s been reliable.
Some of those crashed fighters looked really nice, and I was tempted to repair a few to keep. But in the end scrapped them for the parts.

Number sequence is alpha numeric representing the symbols, i think hexadecimal

So 1 will be 1st glyph on the dialler, 2 will be 2nd glyph on the dialler etc

I just realized yesterday that ships (at least Sentinels) may have various stat rolls under class S, but they all end up with the exact same stats when upgrading multiple ships from the same system. The only difference is supercharged slot placement. It took me far too long to realize that lol

I'm assuming it's just a per system thing, though, and not across the board for all ships of the same type. My original S class sentinel ship had different numbers once I pulled everything out of it and it was just a barebones ship with nothing in charged slots compared to the 10+ ships I checked in the same way that all came from the same system. All 10+ of those had the exact same stats down to the decimal once they were upgraded to class S.

All crashed ships will be completely damaged, besides Sentinel Interceptors which will be clear and usable but require a small bit of effort to make them flyable

You can find them on most worlds that say "dissonance detected", you will first want to roam the planet and inspect Dissonance Resonators (walk up to them and look at them to see what they'll drop) until you find one that contains an Echo Locator, in which you shoot it with your weapon and run from the Corrupted Sentinels.
Then you may use it to locate a Harmonic Camp, a place where you can locate crashed Sentinel Interceptors (you may want to leave a Save Beacon or claim a Base Computer at one)

Instead of resetting, you are best finding a system that spawns it each time you warp in. So its then a case of, do battle, dock and check, warp out then warp back into the system.

Place the upgrade modules directly next to the weapons, and buy 2 more for each weapon

You can install up to 3 upgrade modules of each tech type

So the main infra-knife module + 3 S-Class modules + Q-Resonator blueprint tech

This is the best layout for almost all the weapons, but I do see your SC slots are in the corners so you may wanna just put the Q-Resonator against one of the upgrade modules that's adjacent to the Infra-knife (which should still be put into the supercharged slot)

Put the main weapon module in the sc slot first, then the s or x upgrades next to it to gain adjacency bonus.

Bet, will change that for all my weapons, I had a misconception that you don’t need the main weapon in the middle with the S and X mods surrounding it

If/when you find a ship with sc slots adjacent in a cluster, you still use that same logic that @autumn iris illustrated above in the image - main weapon surrounded by S upgrades. The adjacency bonuses will boost each other and that is how your damage output exponentially scales up.

Yes, use your cursor to see how damage output on the main weapon module fluctuates as you move the S or X upgrades around - a window opens to show damage output

I’ve also heard that the quicksilver trails for ships boost damage along with the figurines

You can play around with the arrangements of the upgrades to give you an idea of how the stats are working.

The trails boost maneuverability, not damage. So cluster the trails around Polo to give small incremental increases to maneuvering.

Ohhh I see gotcha, how do they impact the freighter? I know the freighter has limited modular buffs mostly hyperdrive boosts and expedition times being reduced

The trails only work on your starship. For the freighter, there are combat and science buffs too, all of which apply to the frigate missions only.

The hyperdrive boosts for your freighter increases the warp range only.

If you go around the planet you found it

And do some ship hunting on it then you should be capable of finding a S class version

Any ship type can be S class. So if you want any kind of S class then technically outlaw systems would have the highest chance for them (5%)

You can also find a design you like and then upgrade their class to S at the space station

You need to go to the planet with dissonance detected and find a dissonance resonator to get an echolocator, which will take you to a harmonic camp, where you can scan for a crash site

As long as you claim the crashed ship before someone else shows up no. Your previous ship is still owned by you it's just no longer your "primary ship"

It’s often faster to upgrade a ship to S class using Nantes than grinding to find a natural S class in the wild.
I usually upgrade a ship I like rather than grind for the S

One of the easiest methods is to buy illegal tech, and weapons packets from black market dealers in outlaw stations.
Open the packets then sell the x upgrades to the black market upgrades dealer for nanites

Cycle between a few outlaw stations and you can make tens of thousands of nanites in a few minutes

Another more involved method - if you want to make hundreds of thousands of nanites you need to farm runaway mold

You can find YT tutorials on how to farm mold

I use both farming methods to give me the freedom to upgrade anything I find at will. My nanite bank on average is several hundred thousand at any time.
