save before u warp, so if u get a freighter event and its not the freighter u want u can reload save and check a different system. landing on a NPC freighter won't make a new restore point so you can save, warp, if design's good check class, if class is bad reload restore point

Its probably so when you portal to system, the name of the system should show up, so you know you are in correct system. Sometimes, people post/or go to wrong system/galaxy and wonder why they cant find the ship.

You put the glyph in portal and when you're in the system you can verify name en type of the system

If you mean the Living ship, you will need access to portal glyphs.
Complete the Artemis path story and you will get all 16 at the end of it.
The newest living ship, called The Wraith, though is a reward for completing the newest expedition that is currently ongoing.

Upgrades are generally bought with nanites not units for ships unfortunately. Just get what you feel it needs. When it comes to weapons, like with multitools, get/use what you like using. You are also best in my opinion concentrating on 1 or 2 weapon systems, rather than all of them. I personally go for pulse, warp and photon weapons 1st, maybe also solar upgrade for launch thrusters and of course inventory access distance extender. Tbh, I just go with whatever is doing my head in the most

I personally go straight for s class upgrades, as i think, any lower you are gonna replace and therefore you gonna lose most of those nanites. S class can take you easily through to end game

Still a nice find though, your exotic crash site, I've only ever found 2 not previously found ones in over 2500 hours. The issue is you can spend hours and hours looking for a crashed version. I just ended up finding faster ways of getting non crashed version

It will be still attainable, the issue is finding it. I'm assuming that Jason gave some planetary coordinates? Now you know the reason why coordinates are needed and why people shouldn't just mark with a base or comm ball.

You could try going to station and looking through teleport names of possible bases to teleport too, but it could be a needle in a haystack scenario

Hi - Nice find. I have a great workaround for 'Broken Ships' to make it easier. When you put it into storage in the Feighter it removes teh entire Cargo - broken or not .... so put the broken ship into storage and then take it straight back out ... all clean. You still have to fix teh technology bit but Cargo is clear.

I think you need good enough ship to play comfortable: do pirate freighters, sentinel, good enough to explore planets, do some pulsing or jumps. Invest in such ship, later you'll find the best last one. And you will be rich enough to max that ship.

it depends on the system economy, afaik there is no guarantee for there to be S class, and S class can't show up in 1* economy

in 2* 3* and outlaw economy it would be pretty unlikely for there not to be an S class but its probably possible

1. Make sure that the system you're at is 3 stars, which has the highest rate of exotics to spawn
2. Instead of hanging out at the space station, look for a trade terminal building (build and use an Economy Scanner for this).
3. Fly to one, put down a save beacon, and reload save.
4. Every time you reload, there will be 5 ships landing in the landing pads at about 15 secs. If non of those are exotic, reload save. Rinse and Repeat.

Time frame for getting an exotic to land is totally random I'm afraid. it could be 5 mins, to 5 days. Just remember to take a break if you feel tired, but never give up!

Sauce: Me. I've been hunting for exotics since last year. So far i've claimed & sold about 25 exotics, and only 1 of those is a squid (it's blue, which is not exactly my preferred color too).

Exotics are guaranteed in all systems with a space station, and have same spawn rate in all Economy levels.....I have found a few exotics......Exotic ships do not follow the same spawn rules as regular ships, ie as far as I can tell they dont get over rode by solars, always S class, and have own spawn rate.

ok so need help as I MUST be missing something. I am trying to get the sentinel ship and have come across 2 so far. One takes off the moment I approach it. The other just sits there and I cannot interact with it. Both have a redd autophage thing behind it that I feed atlantium and then says "17" and then kicks me out. I thought I can just claim the ship. Do I need to finish all main missions first? do I need a special item to claim the sentinel ship? what am I missing?

I had this issue too. You have to interact with it and remove 3 items then go collect some radiant shards and a inverted mirror. After that you can resonate the brain you took from the ship and it'll take you to a Monolith then you can go claim it

A very efficient way to farm them is to kill the dissonance Walkers until you get a harmonic resonator. It'll take you to a camp where you can place a save beacon and use the terminal there to repeatedly find ships on that planet. Though they will all look identical, just have different classes

both of the issues you mention just happened to me too about half an hour ago

for the ship just fly away i kept looking for a NPC around nearby landing pad. if the ship already fly away ill just reload a restore point and continue searching. when i found the npc i just talk to him and do the normal ship trading stuff. the npc will actually give you the ship for free without needing to do the other stuffs

for the walked through one, it was, i think, the same exact ship as the fly away one so i just igored it thinking is the exact same ship and cannot get it twice

Well posting here seemed to help. got a C class fighting an S class pirate so I grabbed the pirate for now. I thought freighter modules were supposed to be transfered though? Left a sacrificial 1 unit of proj. ammo in the hold of the old one.

Try calling in your ship pretty much next to it, jump in and out to create a save, then reload the restore point. Seem to give you enough time "during" load to interact with the sentinel.

A little addition, freighter cargo isn't automatically transferred, you need to manually do that during the claiming process of the new freighter and obviously answer yes to the question about transferring the base if you want to keep the base.

If you haven’t yet, you’ll eventually warp into a system and there will be a battle going on with pirates attacking a civilian freighter.

When you kill the pirates, the captain of that freighter will invite you onboard. You will be given the option to command that freighter — you can deny it and take a payout instead. The first freighter you accept will be free, every freighter after that you’ll have to pay the trade-in difference on.

Once you own a freighter, you’ll occasionally get a system-warp battle, but often times this will now be against a pirate freighter. At this point, you can either blow that freighter up or beat it up into submission (after killing its engines so it can’t run). You can then accept the pirate freighter for free. It’s always free since it’s won through conquest.

As a first, it might also be your last. An A class capital freighter is comparable to S class, especially with the right tech modules.

I did end up feeding it to reroll stats, but this one is primarily spec’d into trade first time around with a few bonuses to trade, combat, and exploration with a -2% expedition time

I think the next I get I want to see if I can get a C Class with -10% expedition time, I did find one like that but didn’t like the color

yes, just rare; the level of the economy apparently makes a difference, and if it's pirate or not. 3 start = 2%, pirate = 5%, or so I'm led to believe.

@somber osprey it's not hard to get an S class pirate freighter, make them surrender, check freighter, warp out and back, rinse repeat. shouldn't take more than a few goes with a bit of luck

@patent venture I found the best way to get LS upgrades is to send living frigates on missions. But I always make sure to put the living frigate in the first slot

you can also get the inventory upgrades this way too. I'm currently sitting at 14 myself

When looking at inventory range for a starship -- for example Explorer -- the wiki mentions 30-38 for large. And large seems to be defined by the parts that make up the ship. Does that mean, if when you find a ship -- if it's parts catagorize the ship as small (15-19), you will not be able to upgrade to 38 slots? or is the size category just a restriction on the number of initial slots generated?

You will be able to upgrade the ships inventory size to limit dictated by the class

The size tiers refer to the ranges of initial slots a ship can spawn with and those are somehow influenced by parts (usually bigger wings = more slots)

That info was important like 5 years ago, back when game didn't offer any means to add inventory slots to starships

so whatever you've found in the wild, you were stuck with it for good, hence community looked out for ships spawning with most inventory slots

All ships that are not fabricated from machines on space stations will have that label

It doesn't really mean much, the only difference between authenticated and not is the trade-in value when exchaning ships with NPCs

perfect, so as long as I'm happy with a ship's aesthetics -- and I'm willing to invest in the storage upgrades, and class upgrades -- my inventory won't be artificially limited by using a "cool" ship. And the "core" stats are rerolled with class upgrades, but from what I'm seeing they don't really make a huge difference in the grand scheme since modules represent the bulk of the stat points?

Yeah if you do it via the Galactic Core you’d have to jump x amount of times (as the go along in order) so if your required galaxy is say the #240th and you was in the starter that would be 239 galaxy core hops (which breaks every bit of tech across suit ship and Multi tool …. Not ideal however I happen to have a base in the essintem galaxy

But you must have done the void egg missions to get access to them.

If you have, then pulse in a system with the egg in your inventory, and drop when you see a communications, follow cords and go from there

You can get eggs gifted to you in the nexus if you don't have the quicksilver
