haven't gone and farmed enough of the unlock thingies
spent all the ones I found on building parts, figured those were more important since I could just warp my freighter into a system after using my explorer

on the bright side, I got a hell of a freighter base, with every functional room, every plant type and 3 fleet expedition rooms

so I got an even different exotic, a mosquito. But hten I re-imported and let it load as unknown, and it works. Something with the latest editor updates

Explorers and exotics can out perform sentinel ships warp drive range. Sentinels get a 600ly initial warp range but only get 5 to 10% warpdrive bonus stat. Exotics start at 100ly, but get a 75 to 95% bonus stat. So when upgraded, a medium stat exotic will probably outperform any sentinel when it comes to warp range. I've not looked into explorers, but they will probably outperform both.

The highest probability is probably a 3* Vykeen system for an S Class fighter. I'm not sure if ships take a hit to stats like multitools in outlaw

speaking of interceptors, found a lil exploit to sorta farm harmonic brains

basically what you do is store up some hyaline brains from sentinel ships instead of claiming them. Usually I do that for low class ones.
Then when you're ready, you can convert all of them to harmonic brains from a single ship mission.
basically you find a ship, get to the part where you have to go find a ruin to convert the brain, then once you do that, store the brain in a freighter storage crate. That hides it from the game so it doesn't think you have one, allowing you to resonate with another brain and convert that one too, and so on and so on. Unfortunately you have to go to a new ruin for each brain, but you get to store up a bunch of finished ones when you're done

and then when you're done you just abandon the original mission

now you got a stockpile of brains to go ship hunting with and if you see one you like you can grab it right then and there instead of having to journey out and back to get that brain done

but if you like the design, i think its worth just focusing on getting the nanites to improve it. My current favourite was B since i was look for specific or similar designs and quite rare to find all of them at the same time.

killing off pirates and sentinels is not that hard once you upgrade everything so I dont think you need max stats in everything.

So these are the same Sentinel ship. B and an S.

Here’s the S when I found the boosted nodes…

(I didn’t get the screen shot I thought I did) and here’s the B (once it was upgraded to S and I expanded the tech slots).

I thought all these where the same locations once upgraded. Seems like upgrading the B in this case is more beneficial than finding an S.

Out of the main 4 ships (fighter, explorer, shuttle, and cargo), fighter has better starting damage, explorer has better maneuverability, shuttle has better hyperdrive range, and i believe cargo ships have better shields. I could be wrong, but that's what I've been seeing. Solar, exotic, and salvaged ships are pretty good all around ships.

Wow Interceptors are absolutely cracked for how easy they are to get. I've just been scrapping all the ones I come across and raking in the units.
A shame Interceptor parts tend to clip through each other a lot. I've been hard-pressed to find one that doesn't have that issue.
Well, that's down the road, I suppose. My Hauler is still plenty good!

I can see them being nerfed, probably made it easy to try get people to come back to nms. Last couple of saves I've started, my replacement ship to noob ship has been interceptor. Like you have said, makes getting units and cargo modules easier

All living ships are S-Class, not sure if those stats are good or not but living ships aren't really top tier for anything IIRC. You get them usually because you like the design and they're cool, not to have the ultimate ship (which doesn't exist, but if it did it'd probably be an exotic given their stat ranges).

If you like the ship though, that's all that really matters. The difference between the crappiest ship fully upgraded and the best isn't as big as people might think, and even where it differs most of the higher end stats are overkill. lol

Fully upgraded, exotics still thump sentinels in almost every category if I recall correctly, however like I said the differences between things are really so small that none of it matters for most things.

Nothing is OP in this game, the balance is just kind of weird, and the numbers don't always mean what we assume they mean (ie; above a certain point, they don't always DO anything).

I'm only using 3 SC slots(Nevermind, I'm blind, it's 4. lol), and the placement isn't the greatest, plus my modules are only nearly perfect, not on the dot perfect. I'm at 2876.9 there, so should be at least close to possible. Would think an explorer would be able to do it no problem in comparison, but I don't like 'em.

They work in any system labelled dissonant. The Dreadnaught AI Frags work anywhere, but will direct you to a Dissonant system (you might have to warp).

Personally I use the positron ejector on most ships. If you make sure the modules that you use are high heat disbursing you can shred through enemy shielding and their hull before overheating. The only downside is the range, you need to be kinda close foe maximum efficiency. But I've grown fond of the stock blaster on the Sentinel ships. If set up right they are just as if not more efficient.
