It should be under your customize game settings or something in your pause menu.

Space Combat: Controls how frequently, if at all, space combat takes place. Options: None, Minimal, Standard, Hostile Specifically.

If it is not "None" that it means 3h did not pass.

note that it's not 3h of your playtime. It has to be added to the save's time.

• Meet the time requirement to encounter a freighter battle (3 hours of playtime since the last encounter).

• If using glyphs, use a portal to your desired system.

• Once you are at the desired system, jump to any 4 systems.

• Set a manual save in the last of the 4 systems you jump to (optional) then jump back to the original, desired system.

• A freighter battle should trigger and you will fly towards the capital ship. Upon getting close to the freighter, in the bottom right, the game will tell you how many attackers (pirates) are present. If there are 5, proceed. If there are 8 attackers it is recommended you try a different system. Once you decide to start you have two methods you can try.

Method 1:
• Land at the space station and create a restore point by hopping out of your ship. Reload this save and immediately fly to the freighter and dock. You should see the ships spawning as you approach and the exotic will land shortly thereafter.

Method 2:
• Toggle through the friendly ships to find which one is the exotic. You will have to find the exotic by actually seeing it.

• Kill the pirate the exotic is focused on. Kill each pirate the exotic is focused on. If the exotic doesn't go after another pirate, follow it to the space station.

• Once the exotic is close to the station, land in the station. The exotic may fly a couple rounds around the station. Then whenever the exotic flies in, buy it.

• You can use reloads to search through many systems. Start this method if you nearly meet freighter battle requirements (3 hours of playtime elapsed since the last encounter and 4 jumps completed), but on the 5th jump, instead of jumping to a specific system, it can be a random one. Then at the end, go back to that restore point save and go to a different system.

A space battle can be encountered every 5 warps, but not less than 3 in-game hours and since the game saves automatically on exiting the starship (except on freighters the player does not own) a player can opt to reload their manual save to get a new roll for the ships inventory and bonus.

Yes. If you want, you can destroy cargo ship's turrets first, then go for cargo bays. If you shoot only them, no other ships will attack you (only random pirates may spawn, but they're everywhere depending on a conflict level).

When you have a base established, at a certain point you can summon the broken ship to the ground at your base, then teleport to the space station and scrap the broken ship for credits and a module or two or three that you can sell for nanites

it is a legit question....took me a while to like them. I learned to like using them for immersion when I was building mine bases. I would load different haulers with differnt mats, such as one with ferrite for the extractors and storage. And I would summon the haulers in when doing construction
