@umbral flicker Just because yours is S Class means nothing when traded. Tech, slots, and class are all rerolled to defaults when the NPC takes possession.

So Class is dependent on the probabilities for the system where you conduct the trade.

No black ships. Black in color schemes are basically darkish chrome. As for exotics: Squids can be many colors, but all the others come White, Orange, Yellow, Red, Blue. W/ gold or silver trim.

Since black cockpits are default, it is not used in colour description of royals. They are described by primary colour (red,blue,yellow,orange,grey/white), and trim colour (silver,gold) @storm ocean All Exotics are rare with their 1:301 spawn chance, but no, yours is no moreso than most.

I've come to the conslusion that the ships seeds dont change if you go to the same type of system/race. They change over time, but going to another Pirate Gek system isnt going to change the seed.

@vale lintel System seeds don't change, period. The Solar override at Outlaws didn't change any seeds, they simply flagged seeds that were being used for Shuttles as Solars instead for regulated systems, and additional Fighters/Haulers/Explorers in outlaw.

Exotics are their own catagory. No such thing as an Exotic Fighter/hauler. Exotics are always S Class. Fighters and haulers are up to RNG.

Well I don’t think it will always be the same but you can upgrade the storage with some starship upgrades (found in storage units or at wrecks)

They don't, every single ship has a unique seed which is where SC slots are determined.
For example in any given system every ship will have different SC placement. However, in the same system if you had the same ship twice ie. The exotic one the slots will be the same across both because they share the same seed code (only in the same system, this would not hold true for the same ship 'build' across two separate systems)

Apologies if this has been asked before; I'm a newer NMS player and I recently (and very excitedly) bought my first void egg. I went through the whole quest up to the very end after the singularity core, without realizing that you have to have the main storyline glyphs unlocked in order to input them into the portal for the final step, of which I do not have unlocked. Is there any way for someone else to "open up" a portal to let a player pass through it, or do you have to do it individually? Any help is greatly appreciated so I can snag my first living ship

they strike me as a "fighter with a hyperdrive bonus and better pulse" but fighters still win out against everything on sheer damage.

i kept it but i don't use it, i found a really decent S class rifle with enough slots to max out the mining beam, pulse splitter and scanner and that's virtually exclusively all i use. it's got room for a stun & plasma launcher and i can probably fit one or two S upgrades for that on it and it'll be good enough to be the only Multi i use

Buy a bunch of emergency maps for nav data, then keep using them until you get distress beacon, go there, use maps again.

If you only do distress beacons and leave the other POIs, you will only get new beacons. You will need to reuse the map several times sometimes, ignore the error.

They're better than they used to be. You used to have to glitch them to upgrade slots, and there were no scanners for them. Now, esp with SC slots, they're way more than just pretty space fish that live in your freighter.

Quick question about freighters, when we warp to a system and there is pirate raid ongoing. After taking care of the Pirates, and finding out that the freighter is not an S class. Does reloading the at the space station, reset the raid and the freighter class too?

@plush wigeon First wave=the first round of ships that spawn on a trading post or space station. I believe there are 4 ships that spawn at one time.

Endurance=game update from some time ago (version 3.94. We are currently on 4.06 I believe.) As long as you have the current version of the game (it's called Waypoint) you have nothing to worry about.

NMSCE=a subreddit and separate discord server. The subreddit is r/NMSCoordinateExchange. There you can find coordinates/portal glyphs for specific locations of crashed ships and/or potential exotic ship spawns.

Portal glyphs=can either be unlocked by talking to 16 different travellers found in space stations or trading posts. They look holographic. The recommended way, however, is to follow the Artemis Path since you'll be guaranteed to get them all that way. Plus you have to warp 16 times anyways for the quest, so if you can be patient, you kill 2 birds with one stone.

Outlaw system=a special system that doesn't have a specific race dominating it (the three races are Gek, Vy'keen, and Korvax). You can find them by using the galaxy map while in space, or by inputting specific portal glyphs to get you straight there.

Save beacon=a type of building technology that allows you to save your progress where you're at thus creating a Restore Point.

If in the first wave of ships that land at a Trading Post does not have an S class, simply go to your Options menu, click on "Reload Restore Point [xyz date (time)]" and wait for the first wave of ships to spawn in again. Rinse and repeat until you find your desired class and/or ship.

Iirc, this Squid is 444.5 base maneuver, 445.0 is perfect. NMH Capital system, Euclid.

The only find I have with better maneuvering is my purple Fighter, 444.8 base, afaik it's still the closest to perfect seed ever found naturally, that one I'm keeping for myself til I find better.

This Solar in Euclid has the best upgraded to S stats on record, last I checked.

Starbirth Quest

To unlock Living Ships, the player needs to complete the Starbirth quest once per save.
In order to complete the quest, the player must have the first 12 portal glyphs unlocked.

To start the Starbirth quest, obtain and store a Void egg (3200 QS at the Quicksilver Companion shop) in your suit inventory and then pulse in space until hailed by the Alien fallen host.

To get more Living Ships, the player will need a Void egg and 10k nanites per ship.

I think I'm gonna start floating a suggestion that players dupe their 1st Void Egg, between the amount of QS it requires, the lack of option to target a specific model as one's first, and the ridiculous lengths Switch players need to go to for QS at all, I think most players will appreciate the heads up, even if they decide not to do it.

Sorry, I was one glyph off - I corrected the original message. But, I went and couldn't find it either. Calypso galaxy, Pilshaxb system. I've gone there with a couple of my saves and got the orange squid, but they seem to have shuffled the deck of ships there. I have one on a Survival save I can trade/give you, but I assume you are only on Switch?
