What you wanna do is, travel to the system that your freighter battle will spawn. Or have the person taking you warp over to the next system over if you dont wanna chance your freighter battle spawning when you begin warping around it. Make note of the name of the system that your desired freighter will spawn in so that you can keep track of it easier. After that, you just need to warp around that system on the galaxy map, making a save in each system you go to so that you have it to reload once your freighter battle does spawn. Once it spawns, reload your autosave right then and then head directly for the system you kept note of (where your desired freighter will spawn). It will spawn in the freighter battle, then you can just ignore the pirates and head for the station if there is one, land and exit your ship to save, then reload. The freighter will still be there except no pirates attacking. Fly over to the freighter, exit your ship, point your visor at the ground to check the freighters class.

I found an S-Class Experimental pistol version with the same pattern - Euclid, land on planet Ogorgar (not sure what the online name is) and it'll be at the station.

Actually i found this ship by accident^^ but if you learn to use portals later in game, you can visit these places, and get a ship from these screens. usually i prefer my ships to be found by myself, and not use portals to get a copy of a ship someone else found

but now i saw a freighter design i rly liked, and want an S class, so i go with the portal way^^

Ship stats are randomized at spawn within certain ranges based on the type and class, and yeah, those are pretty good stats for an exotic. Maneuverability could be better but 415 is plenty respectable, and 165 jump range is very nearly the max.

NMS ship combat is so easy that those are the 2 main stats - damage and shield strength seem almost completely irrelevant. Like yeah, sure, you might blow stuff up a little faster, but even an un-upgraded explorer does okay in combat.

And with 3 x S-Class upgrade modules on even the weakest damage/shield, you'll do great.

After the battle triggers, just land in the station and create an autosave.
This will make the battle disappear!
But that's ok, just go back outside and find the freighter.
Land in it and look at the floor with your visor, you can see the class that way.
If it's not the class you want, reload the autosave and repeat.
Note: it will say you need to pay for it if you're still entitled to a free one, but it won't actually cost you anything.

It's much faster and easier than it was previous to this update, and probably a bug.

Look at the pilot's name. You can add the same ship, but not the same pilot. If you try to pick them from the same system, the pilot of the ship will be the same dude. You're not adding a ship to your squadron, but a pilot.

You may need to wait only 5 minutes or 5 hours, but usually 1-2 hours (for S class). Btw, you can also go to a trade outpost on a planet - these are generally faster than waiting at the station because you can land your ship on the ground for more NPC landing pads.

Nobody knows - ships are procedurally generated from a seed and a set of parts, so you could find all the permutations of parts, but then there are ship colors to consider as well as the various statistics such as base damage, maneuverability, etc., all of which vary based on the seed.

well an s class is an s class. you can luck across system freighters that are s class by visiting a bunch of em, or you can warp into systems and engage pirates for a capital freighter (which are the venators and the sentinels)

if you choose the latter, its 3 hrs of gameplay and 5 warps

if you find a capital freighter you like, you can land at a space station, get out, and reload the autosave. that eliminates having to fight the battle and the freighter will still be there

just land in it and use your analysis visor to see if its an s class

when you first do the starbirth mission you are greeted with a mothership while you pulse drive in space(with the void egg in your invetory), then afterwards you are given a mission to collect items in order to put it in your ship, though this has an incubation time of 24 hours

after collecting all of the 4 pieces you are then asked to make the choice of hatching the void egg completely

either you want to hatch it in your home system or you can hatch it on a different system

pls do note that various types, model, and colour of living ships vary between planets and star systems

I mostly use one at a time. I will typically level one up to S Class and a lot of slots, use it for a while, then park it and start over with a new ship.

Your are welcome. Once I have a fully maxed out ship, the game gets easier / less fun for me. So, if I start to get bored, I'll park that ship and go search for a new one, then work to upgrade it. To me, the ships are the best part of the game (better than settlements, bases, freighters, frigates). Just my personal preference.

It was an Expedition reward from one of the earlier ones.

If you don't have it, I'd go for a Solar ship - cheap S class, efficient pulse, generally good at everything, and there are some really cool looking ones.

You can't acquire the Golden Vector any more because that expedition is long over, unless another player gives you theirs or we're given another opportunity to do that expedition in the future.

Used to be you could sell your ship to an NPC in multiplayer and the other player could then purchase it from that NPC.

And since we can claim a Golden Vector on each save, I believe that's how they were "given" to people that missed the Expedition.

T2 can still spawn S class, but the chance is quite low. I'd just take the A and upgrade it later with nanites if it's a model you really like.

Hello there. So I have been hunting for a good Living Ship. Looking at the Wiki. Some Living ships from the past had much higher damage potential. Are those numbers still true now? Am I just not hunting hard enough. The max I seem to find is 250.

i got living ship with 301 potential dmg.(with upgrades) but i dont know if you can get close now to 400. probably depends on type of upgrades you have.

is it normal for a freighters class to not change between reloads of a save that youre trying to acquire?

class should reroll every time you reload your save. The only thing that doesn't change is the freighter model.

I got simliar case. Got mostly B class and rarely A, no C class. Imo its bug that can give you cheap S class but in reality its not S. Max Stats are not so good. Max hdr 5.8k when max S can go above 6k ly range

you have to have played a total of 3 hours minimum in game and warped 4 times. then on the 5th warp you'll spawn in on a freighter pirate battle, and this will always be the freighter that appears under attack in this system

so, technically you'll want to have jumped 3 times, so when you spawn in this system you can warp to an adjacent one, then back in for the ship
