The only issue that could possibly arise my friend is finding proper host planets for laying eggs per species.

One good tip I've found out is looking up the resources displayed on the scans for each type of planet then searching for them in the catalogue so it marks one as a waypoint!

So if you need like a desert planet, start a search for cactus mission

you can approach them and feed them. then you get the option to adopt them.

not all fauna can be made into a companion. but most of it you can. there are exceptions with some flying creatures, and sea creatures.

depends on what you like personally. there are some that fly that you can ride. like the butterflies. they're so pretty and travel a decent amount. there are so many beautiful ones to be honest. you can also modify them via a sequencer that's in the space anomaly. well, you first have the pet give you an egg which you sequence. but yeah, you can change their size (make giant creatures or tiny ones), their colors too. there are some pins here with some info on sequencing. oh and there is robotic fauna too. huge variety.

Keep in mind, alot depends on the catagory of the animal. My experience with modded creatures (eagles/dragons/skyworms/etc) indicates alot is dependant on how they were tweaked when they were edited in. 2 identical birds from different sources often produce different results with the same ingredients.

I haven't seen slicker skin on that style worm. These two are pretty smooth, but not as big or with the head you're looking for. I don't know that its even feasible with a save editor. Most modded pets are pulled straight out of the game, or frankensteined from existing components.
