I’ve only sunk about five hours or so in the game so far (bought at launch, been sitting in collection for years..) Finally decided to jump in as the older I get the more I find myself desiring something laid back. Been exploring the planets and scanning all the fauna in the galaxy I spawned. I discovered this gem (dunno how common these are amongst other galaxies), but will be pretty hard to topple as my favorite creature.

the extinct reading is really broken in that it shows minerals and plants in the fauna section, confusing many players

extinction is what the game calls something being removed in an update, usually when a world's sub-biome changes or fauna are revamped (like in 2020's Origins)

Origins was the last time that fauna had it affect them, so you're not missing out on any fauna

I would say they're pretty uncommon, if you find the right planet with the right climate it'll be easy to find some. Also some planets has some where i would classified them as rare because they spawn by two in a perimeter. Colors and flower type will make it even rarer.

All good I will attempt to explain, I had assumed you have used a save editor to create these.

Either way, when you use a save editor and alter the JSON of a pet you are presented with something that displays this information (in the image)

The main seeds I’ll typically mess with is the colour base and the creature seed.

Provided the Colour base is set to true I can use that to get the same colour, if set to false will try the creatures creature seed.

Alternatively, just grab the file for the creature

I mean they use the exact same models as sandworms, only difference is behaviour. Size can be altered through save editor to be bigger than sandworms you see jumping out of planets.

Save edit, or get a player to deliver you one, Flyingsnake is just the ID they are under, expedition or not.

There is a mod that can allow you to tame untamable pets however those pets I have found to work like shit.

Typically creatures will grow into their head size, you may notice juvenile creatures have large heads while a smaller body.

As for the sequencer note creatures have a max size depending on type, if you sequenced the creature and got “inherited” to show instead of increasing that will mean it cannot get larger via the sequencer.

Correct, playing with the sequencer for size you will get the message inherited, this is how you know that you have reached the max size for that creature.

Some creatures can have larger and some can have smaller caps for their size through the sequencer.

For your creature referenced, natural creatures can generate larger than their limit in the sequencer, you may find that creature will say inherited or decreasing when normally increasing items would be used.

You’ll likely not get there through the sequencer, max size will probably not exceed a quarter of that.

You’ll likely need to use a save editor to go above that max size.

Naturally you could get lucky in one that is relatively large.

it refers since tamed or hatched and game updates itself with the actual date so it is an afk growth it doesn't affect if you play while having it active or game closed

Hi! Question on creature finding. Are baby animals normally available for rare solo predators? I've seen them with herds but not otherwise. I retraced my steps to find my pets because the baby version is absolutely adorable and I figured if I tamed a baby one it would stay a baby. Or is there a way to pause growth so that your newly hatched pet stays a baby?

I visit a ton of planets and have only run across those a half dozen times in a year ... they're roughly as uncommon as some of the other 'weird' creatures from what I can tell -- the rarity really kicks in when you're looking for specific colors

(but it's one of the fauna models that stays exactly the same in terms of its shape - no changing sizes of limbs etc.)
