Any, just keep re-dosing it

All growth hormone substances have the same effect if they're able to reach 100%, just keep placing the egg in the sequencer and re-enlarging it until the final egg reports it's size as "inherited" instead of "increased"

Also, gold is one of the most efficient elements for enlarging!

I don't believe any fauna went extinct during WP1, only minerals and plants, but they show up in all 3 menus and show the fossilized paw icon, tricking people into thinking they were fauna

Everyone who gets them either uses a mod that lets you tame them, save edits them into their companion catalogue, or receives an egg from anyone who did the first two things

Their functionality of being rideable, controllable and interactible is something completely vanilla though, if you just suddenly had one in your companion list then it would just work

If you put materials into the 2nd slot of the gene splicer it will have a chance at changing one of the creatures parts, usually it's the head. Not sure if the type of material matters, you can also overdose that slot and get multiple changes

Did you generate these variations? I've been wondering what to feed an egg to get the eyeball face (and other body alterations) ... I know people have figured out what to feed them for color or size, but I haven't seen a guide for what substances produce body changes

I don't think the eye one is normally possible, since it's model is in a different category that I spliced with other categories of parts, including a different head so that the eye is inside of a mouth lol which is super not possible normally

All of them are save edited except the megapede one which is just the expedition worm without any gene splicing, at the max size achievable with growth hormones

Also I don't think gene splicing has any material preference, it just cares about the dose % i think, the more dose the more randomly variable it's parts become

Ah gotcha thanks -- I need to play around with the creature editor tools more, didn't realize you could glitch together parts that way (not sure if 'glitch' is the right term there, but just generally 'putting a thing where the game normally wouldn't')

Me neither - I don't think it's using the 'dog' movement pattern though -- it's more like a t-rex? I suspect they did the 'flower animal' treatment to several different categories of creature ... I hadn't seen one until that one I posted today (and somebody further up the thread found one a while back too)
