If you're trying to make them bigger, you really can't once they've already been born/generated, you have one of your creatures lay an egg and use the egg sequencer on the anomaly (next to the appearance modifier) to increase the size of the offspring

Yes, the scene files for each fauna type determines it, as a general rule, "standard" herbivorous creatures are the only ones that have herds.

triceratops, cow, antelope, I think thats it.

Its not on any specific list, as I said, I only know it from individual fauna type scene files

But yes, at Origins, many fauna types were collapsed into larger familial groups, and changed behaviours - prior to then, almost any species/type could be player-predatory and herding, of how I miss swarms of 0.3m tall murder crabs XD

Oh, well yes, but probably not in the way you think - that "rarity" has more to do with the highest number able to be spawned in at the same time than anything else - herd animals tend to always be common, predators rare, but creatures that get "huge" (triceratops, mogara, strider, blob) are further subdivided, small ones can spawn in herds, but large + huge are restricted to pairs and trios, iirc.

Hello Games should expand more with the animal department; I wanna be able to ride my own fish friend underwater without having to use glitches to get one

Actually kinda surprised they havent, tbh - as far as Ive seen, all itd take is code to prevent fish from being summoned on land, as well as prevent them from leaving the water in order to make them rideable just above the sea floor. It wouldnt be ideal, but itd take HG little effort - and itd basically be an unspoken commitement to actually flesh it out later

I'm not, cool. The reason they arent tameable already is because they havent coded a way to make it easy - the companion unlocker mod allows it, but you basically need to improvise a way to catch them so you can get close enough to interact + tame. 🤣

That mod got updated some time ago to greatly increase the interraction range, so you can tame any creature you can see without needing to get near them. But it is hard coded in the game that you need to be touching the ground to interact with any creatures, so the only way you can tame or open the menu for fish companions is by swimming into the ground and hoping you don't drift away from it while trying to look at them, hence why fish companions could be challenging to do

There are some very specific things to look for when trying to find the mechafauna:

• You must be in an Uncharted system (Red, Blue, Green stars, preferably in Red).
• After scanning the system either via Freighter or by landing on the planets:
• Either select the Exploration Guide in your logs to check how many fauna species are on that planet.
• Or look at the hint at the bottom right hand side of the screen after scanning anything on the planet while exploration guide is selected from the logs.
• Or look into the Discovery tab to find the total number of creatures.
  The planet must have 4 animal species.

📖 Did you know?

• Mechafauna can be tamed, ridden, the quadrupeds can be decorated on their chest.
• Creature Pellets can be used to tame them, but only with Automated Feeders. Direct interaction uses an Ion Battery, and they produce chewy wire instead of organic materials.

Definitely do, tho keep in mind the sentinel walker cannot be interacted with, so can’t ride, feed, induce egg or pat, it also causes desync issues in multiplayer.

The sentinel quad is fine unless you want the Orange version.

A save editor can be used to get them and a mod can be used to tame them however the method to tame them is not ideal and rather tricky as they fly high and are quite fast, it’s likely a reason we can’t tame them normally.

@placid crystal if you scanned it you can go into discoveries, find the creature and it’s planet then add that planet to wonders, hover over the added planet and you will be given the glyphs.

Alternatively add the creature into wonders, then hover over it and select “view discovery” it will then take you to the planet details, same as before will need to be applied when discovering the glyphs without being in the system or in the planet.

0.2m is tiny, possibly even a bit below the minimum that the vanilla game is supposed to allow. For a time, the standard dose would in/decrease size by 0.5m, even if you were already 0.0000001 away from the limit.

Those fauna are found in uncharted systems, or systems that don't have any race in the system. They don't always show up, but if you go to one of these systems and find a planet with only 2 species on it, you'd likely have found one.

In order to get one as a pet you’ll either need to use a mod that allows you to tame them, a save editor to force them as a pet or trade/be given one in the form of an egg by a player who already has one.

It’s likely these won’t become available to tame in the vanilla game unless they change the creatures height to which they fly, or something allowing the player to reach.

@jaunty otter only expedition 4 has rewarded a sandworm as a pet the model of that worm is the same as @jaunty forge “Alaskan bull worm” no other expedition has rewarded one since, it’s unlikely that expedition will return so you can’t start it, only other way one could have obtained it was from a twitch drop.

@haughty forge and others, for additional information sandworms “flying_snake” can only be tamed or obtained by a mod that allows them to be tamed, or save editing them in as a pet.

There are 255 galaxies... And going throught the galactic core will send you to a new one... That is the game's way of progressing... But you can also play multiplayer, and if somebody in your group is in a different galaxy, even if it is one you don't have access yet, you can use the anomaly to warp to their galaxy... Once there, put up a base, and you can warp there any time...
