yep, was just searching this channel, it seems that my second thought is correct, there's a max size per fauna/body type - if you gene sequence the same egg multiple times before hatching, increasing its size every time, you will reach a point where the egg sequencer refuses to increase size, can only decrease. to increase size more, you'd need to use a save editor which isn't possible on switch at the time of writing this post/afaik.

He got Grinch feet. The sequencer might fix 'em, might not, might mess up something else... the GeneSplicer bucket is kind unpredictable. Save and experiment.

Second bucket in the egg sequencer. Use a rare enough element or product so that you get an overload. Save first, so that you can reload if it grows something you hate.

Once I'm caught up on tech, finishing figuring out resequencer mutations is on my to-do list - for regular dose, mutation occurs in a very simple sequential fashion, you just need the specimen's full part descriptor hierachy to be able to predict how each generation will progress.

If you hatch an egg from the one you've got, you can take it to the egg sequencer on the space anomaly and add materials to change its size up to the max (you can modify the same egg multiple times until adding material doesn't change the outcome and just gives you inherited, then you know you have the max)
