My first blobby nightmares were about him hunting children around an endless local village hall, hoovering us all up because hoovers were scary too. Sometimes the hoover would transform us into framed picture versions of ourselves and I'd be stuck in the hell of being mr blobby's noncey art on his wall.

Once I had overcome my phobia of household appliances, he took the role of my weekly kidnapper. Yoghurt was for some reason a blobby deterrant, so I would desperately try to spread gallons of it around my grandma's floors but it was never enough yoghurt. Never enough.

My new bunk bed was cool, could store all my barbies underneath behind the curtain. Also could hide a massive pink demon underneath. He would emerge to honk at me like a goose and chant blobby blobby blobby with that horrid voice.

Once I dreamt a completely normal day at school except when I came home he crawled out in his usual clumsy fashion. Stopped playing with my barbies just in case he lurked there.

Monsters inc inspired me to roar at him next time he came, so that the scare floor would shred my door and blobby would have to look for employment elsewhere. Unfortunately this determination forced myself awake into a state of sleep paralysis, worst dream of the bunch.

Enough was enough, I confessed my fears to my mother. While I closed my eyes, she symbolically tore apart my Mr Blobby Annual. She probably thought I was a fucking idot. Luckily blobs had already faded into irrelevancy at this point, and only ever saw him again as a 50p ride on Cleethorpes sea-front. I've not dreamt of him since, but I do still fear he'll be back one day.
