I dont think HG has enough free money for things like that. Imo its bad idea.
I would not say it's a bad idea at all
If nms starts doing crossovers then they must add a new in game currency that you could buy with real money
Probably make it so that you could buy quick silver
Another bad idea.
Defo
Lol
It would never happen any ways
But never say never they say lol
So HG it would be a money making scheme so you still got the normal free to play but in the computer like expedition has it's own area then Disney stuff can have its own area and is still link to the game but separate like expeditions
Then Disney would have its own store type in game with the computer
You really think Disney would just let HG use their intellectual property like that?
One of the biggest money maker franchises in the world?
And HG would just take it and share the profits?
Let NMS be NMS with its wacky and wonderful universe
If you wanna play SW, pick a game that is actually licensed to be a SW game
Would be nice to have ship headlights/floodlights that come on to illuminate the ground when I’m flying near the surface at night. Akin to that scene in SW Rebels
Eh the reality here is the algorithm no mans sky uses for the world generation is something that should be used in many more games, if they were smart theyd leverage that.
Long shot , but will the Nintendo switch ever get an online multiplayer going ? that’s what I play on lol would make the game much better
I do play on Xbox also but prefer hand held due to my eyesight
I disagree somewhat. I love this game but its Mandelbrot algorithm does one thing that causes the game a lot of problems. Size over Substance. Quantity over Quality. Don't get me wrong I'll take nms over starfield any day, but nms could have done everything it did in one Galaxy and with more variety between systems.
Well HG is leveraging their engine, just with their own games. LNF is using a more advanced version of the NMS engine. I do agree it would be cool if they licensed their engine to third parties, but engine licensing also requires support staff, more deliberate updates, and providing roadmaps for future engine features. That's probably something HG has thought about and decided wasn't worth it
I definitely agree, it would of allowed them to have more region specific missions and events, factions etc etc.
Even expeditions could have had everyone travel to a specific planet to start them which would have been cool imo
I don't think that has to do as much with the procedural algorithrms, but more to do with their implementations for concrete objects like flora and fauna. Like the fact that all animals and plants use pre-made models, which are then tweaked by the algorithms. That leads to an inherent lack of variety, vs. building those 3D models for species from scratch via algorithms etc.
I'm not a big fan of AI, especially when so much of it is based on stolen creative works, but there could be an interesting implementation of flora and fauna in NMS and LNF that uses LLMs to build endless varieties of base models, which the procedural algorithms then tweak
Am cooking my first ever Doughnuts now
Wrong channel lol
Add orbits brah💔
do you guys think that they will ever add like an automation update where they expand on the current automation in the game? maybe add like refineries that can connect to conveyor belts so like for example you can have an activated copper mine which shovels into a refinery > chromatic metal> to storage?
never say never right? though i'm not sure if it wouldn't take a lot of effort to do it - given the state of refiners, for example. it'd probably be easier to just make chromatic metal pop as a mineral resource for hotspots.
NMS shouldn't be about automation, we already had an era where everyone and their mother had indium farms for money
And HG nerfed it heavily to combat that
And BK makes a good point, it would be meaningless if HG didn't take care of all issues plagueing the refiners/ extractors
I think nms should have freighter ports where you are able to station your freighter (which needs a function otherwise it would be useless) and you might be able to see freighters being built in docks. These new stations could be like a normal space station combined with a settlement
It could also serve as an explication to how freighters are built
Please don't hate, but how realistic would planetary terraforming be in NMS?
Sentinels probably wouldn’t like it
Make an update on the settlements, there is so much potential there
"That planet's being terraformed! Sentinel-branded Death Star, destroy it!"
Ooh
Updated planets
Luke there’s weather events and stuff that change planets permanently
Only in systems with players of course
“Oh you took this paradise planet and built a lovely base on it? Now you get a storm out of nowhere that transforms it into a dead rock with aggressive sentinels in mere minutes!” /hj
it would be cool if planets had seasons. very vague idea but it would be nice if weather was a bit more dynamic. when you find a planet with extreme weather you're just at rng mercy every 10 minutes and it would be nice if maybe there were off seasons or something where storms would let up
It would be interesting to see something like that on extreme heat/cold planets. Perhaps the ice could melt a little in the summer, but be devastatingly cold in the winter.
Spring could perhaps make crops grow faster or something, while winter and autumn would slow them down
yeah exactly, i wish planets weren't strictly limited to being frost all the time for instance or boiling all the time. the weather could be as dynamic as it is with day and night cycles and still accomplish a seasons kind of effect
this is also cool but i never farm in this game so thats all you lol
I feel like they probably will do this in the somewhat near future(at least I hope)
we need some more combat mechanics. like maybe a sentinel fortress, or proper cosmic horrors to fight, maybe corrupted interceptors
Yeah, they have expanded on it quite a bit recently, which is nice, bit I would love for combat to be harder without just turning up the amount of health enemies have. Some more variation in enemy types would be nice too, hopefully some proc gen enemies. Also I wish that animals would be difficult to fight
true. they just keel over
I really want derelict freighters to be fleshed out more. The cold and the enemies are mostly just inconveniences unless you’re super early game and they get repetitive fast. Like lean hard into the survival horror vibes and force the player to actually think carefully and check over their shoulder. And then of course buff the loot so that the challenge is still worthwhile
agreed, also the loot is pretty bad. cargo bulkhead is the only thing worth my time usually and the repair kits
i'd like to see more of a use for tainted metal or better loot/ bigger dungeons with that concept
I agree on Tainted Metal having more uses, so far it's just buying some trinkets and refining to nanites
My suggestion which I turned into a mod was making scrap dealers sell ship customisation parts using Tainted Metal as currency
That would give players incentive to visit various scrap dealers looking for the parts they want
And farming derelicts again to be able to purchase those parts
Update settlements: make it, so they can get you money and other stuff, make them more customizable etc.
I feel like there is so much wasted potential there
Fix graphics glitches (like floating planetry harvesters). Expand freighter research so that you can mod your freighter. Landing lights on ships. Make currency floating point. If not floating point, give us more to spend money on.
Make the freighter window height at eye level so that we can actually look out the window.
They just need to add a slider of how much damage is inflicted on the player
This is actually a great idea
Fr
This idea came to me in a dream:
What if we get new sentinel threats in space? Like Sentinel frigate for Rank 4
And for Rank 3, Sentinel fighters with phase beams that can replenish their shields.
Not revamping derelicts will definitely be a missed opportunity. They really are nms chalice dungeons/rifts.
Thanks, feel free to cyberbully HG by suggesting it with caption "a stupid ass modder made it possible, so can you"
That would be great
I mean, they revamped settlements, which I was never expecting
I think more to spend on would be great, I just have no idea what it would be
One time I found a freighter that was the exact model I wanted but it was like 200 mil and I couldn't afford it
Until now when I started selling illegal weed
I expected something more from settlements update. Cant place buildings where we want. Perks dont unlock any unique buildings. I dont like the class holograms above buildings. No settlement looks like from some mobile game. Settlers info is just fluf txt. Cant assign settlers to specific buildings to maximize building productivity etc.
Now we do basicaly same stuff as always but now with building upgrades.
For one we need much more ways to spend units
Imagine if we had rail system we can go on like hyperloop or maglev
Or we can build it as a business
Maybe they should make it that we can buy businesses on planets and in space this would be cool and we need to use our units to buy a business it could be a tech or mechanics business other things ect
we need a giant freighter space port/station like the anomaly. where we can roam the entire station and look at all the other players freighters docked to the station. One big viewing platform to a 360 degree viewing platform
can even have a freighter docking animation sequence
yes, I dont know what to do with my 2.7 billion units at this point
Yeah you can just farm dreadnaughts for upgrades
Whats best way to farm freighter mods without messing standing
I hit korvax a bit hard testing xd
only way to get freighter upgrades without messing with standing is delirects
Wot on earth is delirects
!faq-derelicts

**Why can't I land on this derelict?
**
There are two different derelict freighter events in the game.
Not Boardable, if the derelict...
• is broken into large pieces, like the lower freighter model in this image
• has no landing pads by the bridge
• has shootable cargo pods nearby (it may not)
If there are nearby cargo pods, you may shoot them for materials, which it will trigger pirates.
Boardable, if the derelict...
• is not broken into major pieces
• has four landing pads located by the bridge
• looks like the top freighter model in this image (colors vary)
You may find it just by pulsing on rare occasions. But if you activate an Emergency Signal Scanner (ESS) in your inventory, you'll ensure one spawns. Once it's detected (see example), exit pulse, land and loot. Be ready with life support recharges, cold protection recharges, and ammo for your weapon of choice.
these guys
So for freighter mod farming which method is standard
I assume derelict to not mess with standings?
Buy mt slots for 600mil each lol
Not worth it
That would be cool, it would also be cool if your freighter could get damaged in combat(if it could actually shoot) and get repaired there
I'll be honest, I NEED more upgrades/technology/room types fr the freighter. It feels like the only thing I use my freighter for is scanning systems and long warps
And the pirate dreadnought freighters have antiship cannons, can't use them tho. Very sad
Or be able to have more than on freighter (even if you were only able to store them like the excess ships)
Next update should be focused on freighters
We already got one in the past. But i would like more capital freighter types with diffrent perks for diffrent playstyles and ofc a living freighter.
Same. We have living ships and living frigates. Just missing living freighters
When is the next expedition coming
Fr
Ok
Rerun of all this year expeditions will happen probably around nov/dec
Ok
Make yellow skies and orange sentinel interceptors less common.
living freighter would mean they'd have to design a whole new interior set for "living" surfaces. maybe they'll do that, but I kinda doubt it.
I'm more interested in making the freighters more useful and integral to the gameplay loops. especially bigger space combat scenarios
I like living ship design. They can go in simliar design. Combat scenarios are not my intrest. Best case is they most of the times will only look cool like squadrom.
yeah I'm just saying, if they don't want to half-ass an implementation, they would have to design a whole new texture set for the interiors of living freighters, which is a lot more work than just designing a new freighter model
It's not something I'm interested in, but I always tend to desire gameplay improvements and more depth vs. adding more cosmetics (except for biome / flora / fauna variety, which I'll always take)
An autophage specific ship and freighter.
I think it could be nice to have more features/consequences of negative standing. Like if you have really low standing with a species then folks can attack you in search of a bounty, or entering a non-outlaw system/approaching a non-outlaw space station for that species aggros sentinel ships on the player. On a similar note there could be freighters that more actively attack the player like sentinel ones, but run by living folks who are bounty hunting the player
I've been saying that forever. You should not be able to use any stores in systems where the race views you as an enemy. They should turn you away until you pay your dues or clear your status. Being attacked the moment you fly out of your freighter or jump into system would be awesome too. No point in having the system if there are no consequences tied to it.
Seeing as shooting at a space station summons sentinels, I imagined approaching it (as in can’t pulse jump range) would also put an invisible wall at the entrance so you can’t land to de-aggro the sentinels, then defeating the capital ship “compromises” the shield and lets you land there again
A whole standing overhaul would do wonders. Right now you won't really get negative standing unless you're doing a ton of outlaw missions and even then, they give you a really easy way to reset it to zero. For consequences for negative standing to really shine I'd love to also see that negative standing be a real obstacle instead of something you have to get on purpose
It doesn't exactly work with the set of factions we have right now, but something like sets of opposing factions where you can only have good standing with one at a time would be a good way to accomplish this.
Another could be procedurally generated local factions, some of which could start off with standing in the negative. That way you would constantly need to be gaining standing as you travel instead of just maxxing it out early game and never thinking about it again.
Idk if it’s possible to get negative standing with autophages, but doing so could have them remotely disable the scanner upgrade that lets you see them and use their terminals
Might be a bit much
Yeah this is really the way to go. They should just get rid of race-based factions completely, which let's be honest is just kind of a weird concept, and provides limited gameplay opportunities.
Im -350 something with the Gek lmaoooo
i feel that the liquidators have some insane warhammer potential. like, they just roam around the galaxy like a WH legion, we randomly see them on planets fighting the brood or the bio horrors. they could just be turned into a faction, i guess? or are they tied in with the vykeen, not too sure of their lore
I've said this for a while, hope they add it
"Those are rookie numbers in this racket" 😝
There are games where everything is linked to a "why". Where everything has to do with the lore in some way and either adds to or affects the mainline story. Then there are games like Sea of Thieves, that add content without rhyme nor reason, with paper thin logic. NMS sits closer to SoT than I would like, but it hasn't gone over the edge just yet.
NMS struts that line
I think this game could benefit from some more multi-player content. It would be interesting so see clans of some type added where there was group content. Things like trials fighting massive bosses with multiple people similar to ESO or even pvp freighter battles where it was clan vs clan with say 4 freighters per team and 12 people total that get warped together similar to sea of thieves matchmaking. I also think it would be cool to see a couple galaxies turned into a helldivers type area where players had to team up against an alien threat trying to overtake the galaxy. I think all of this content would be able to be implemented in such a way that if you didn't want to do it you could easily avoid it but if you did it could add so much more potential to the game. Imagine starship racing and all the other possibilities. Still the game is awesome as is.
We technically already ba e civs for as much as that as worth but I do agree Multi-player could be improved upon mor
@safe pasture I was not aware of the civ aspect of the game but it would defintely be awesome to see that concept expanded on
They should have freighter construction yards in orbit around planets
Maybe a place for freighter augmentation
Idk something cool
Yeah just be careful with them
i, who was once apart of the NMS civs aspect of this server but left to LNF, have experience with NMS civs, but do be careful and be warned, do not accidently copy civs, i learnt that the hard way, the Gek-Zuma Empire, should not be accidently copied, they dont take it nicely, they take it seriously, and as i said, i learnt that the hard way, im not being rude, just passing down information to players who want to make their own NMS civ, even if they dont want too, just be warned
150° FOV option
Gotta be an option for everyone (okay maybe not switch, PS4, and Xbox One but still)
On PC it's up to 120° everywhere else (idk if switch tho likely not) maxes out to 100°
I understand it would cost performance but that should be something the player can decide
If it costs performance it could be on every platform except switch
Dont sound bad
If we can modify the distance and position of the camera in 1st or 3rd person it be nice
I think the next update should have something to do with farm animals. We already have crops. Why not some farm animals to make the grind of finding eggs, milk, "honey", "apples", and "berries" less of a hunt and pray? Some of us actually like cooking up food. Or maybe I'm just weird.
Or an update to the conversations with other aliens. Smarten up the AI a bit more so it doesn't always automatically assume you don't understand a word when you actually understand the entire thing. Have more options when chatting with them.
Set up a ranch on a planet with a feeder and the equipment to have the animals put their goods, eggs, milk, fruit, etc.
Just like a mining camp.
What if the planet doesn't have the animals you want? Hence the need to be able to catch them or use our companions as livestock. The stables alone would look cool.
I've been dreaming off this. Something like mount & blade, procedural factions in different regions.
Standing should affect a lot more such as prices, access to vendors/space stations & settlement ownership
Race based factions no longer make sense when everyone hangs out together
I’ve been saying this on repeat for ages. The blurb says you can be a pirate, but you can’t really. You attack ships and maaaybe things cost a bit more, but it’s not like you’re a fugitive or anything. You don’t get attacked on site or refused access to non outlaw stations.
I think more meaning to standing would = more immersion.
I'd also like for them to make learning the languages more worthwhile. To actually help out aliens who seem to need help with something. To understand them. To be able to talk to them instead of the game assuming you don't understand a word. I'd also like to be able to offer to let them move to a settlement.
As a new player from eve i def figured admiral of the black would penalize and was braced for lots of work to fix
To my surprise looks easy
They’ve recently added your actions impacting the universe, with settlements improving the surrounding economy if they are doing well… so I live in hope.
Now that i realize it dont matter, time to murder every single freighter i see till mine is stacked 🤣
Freighter bases are deserving of a bug-fix. I've run into clipping issues when walking on top of corridors/rooms, visible holes when viewing the building area entrance from outside, gaps between the bridge and the base's initial piece, and frequent issues with rooms/corridors not being connected when teleporting in, and refiners destroying resources.
The crew also clip halfway through the floor in the more open areas of my base
That’s the spirit!
You can use your companions as livestock. Just summon them next to a feeder. They just won't produce an egg outside of their normal enviro.
Explore planets to find the products you want from the fauna.
I really wish we can inspect a living ship before paying nanites because always hard to tell what colour it is on serton planets
I hope we'll get some of the NPC autophage pieces for our characters
shoulder gun!
This is not really needed as we already have stuff for this^ it's just a matter of finding a planet containing animals with the needed resources to harvest.
Full on Ai is coming to NMS
This year is the year the game changes with extreme Ai being added 2025 is the year
says who?
Say Sean Murray and the universe and the time we are in now
The game will progress with 75% with Ai lmfao
It's facts but there mite be some that mite not be fully true but I do know this we have to watch it all connect together lol
The year of 2030 Ai will move even further on our planet with 80% Ai running the show
Am a time traveler from the future
NMS isn't getting AI, it doesn't fit the theme and development of the game whatsoever
every thing procedural not every thing asked by chatgpt
Lmfao
yeah, the ML model will just try to lean towards logic. the proc gen RNG gives us beautiful things like infested dissonant worlds with ancient guardians
But why would Sean say i wonder if we are adding Ai on twitter lmfao
Ai belongs in space games
It's part of Aliens and the future
The joke is that a clock does not need AI to tell you the time, and that it's a feature that will more likely than not get in the way
Lol
I was going to say something but my boss of time told me not to lol
ai in terms of NPC AI and enemy AI? sure. but AI for game gen, especially in stuff like NMS is not a good idea, in my opinion
It's about to happen like it or not
eh, we'll see. some might, some won't. the nemesis system would be ballers in NMS, though
Aliens are here and they brought alot of new Ai tech with them
Would yous say this is true or false ?
Sleep on it and I'll scream in your ear when Ai is added lmfao
if it is, it is. if it isn't, it isn't. as long as the game remains something we can continue having fun with
You can bet on that
And ill leave yous on that have a good day am off for a sleep
have a good one dude
His tweet even showed, point blank, his stance on AI: it's too prevalent and its the current fad to put it in everything. AI in game design is only exciting to executives, upper management, the ones who aren't interested in giving you good games, but rather simply games you will buy, consume, and spend. Game developers, the ones who actually are responsible for making the games, care about the art and craft, they're the ones afraid of AI because it is directly putting their role at risk.
And Hello Games, much like many indie dev studios, is basically all game developers, their equivelent to 'upper management' is Sean Murray, and he's passionate about what he creates. He gushed about his new terrain generation, he created NMS while waiting on a call with microsoft because he's passionate about making games. Do you really think he would hand off what he loves doing to an AI to handle?
AI will make its way into game development, it already is, but it won't be a good thing. It will be leveraged by executives to offer you up more and more to consume at a quicker pace. And I bet you anything that the costs they cut embracing AI won't change the recent price hike of games to $80 because 'game development is soooo expensive these days.' The price will stay, the costs of development will drop, and like piggies at the trough we will gobble it all up.
Yeah Ai will not be good
I remember an artist put it best:
Because it can destroy peoples jobs and take over
I want AI to wash my dishes so i can create art, not create art so I have time to do my dishes.
Lol
I think a lot of companies will play themselves by embracing AI. I have a friend who writes for a travel magazine and they want to employ AI. Well the value in buying that travel magazine is getting a real genuine human reaction to visiting those places so that I can make an informed decision about whether to go there. That's why someone would buy that magazine. If they embrace AI to write their articles... then why should I buy their magazine when I can ask ChatGPT for free and get probably a similar article?
What i was saying was only to get people talking and alot could even be true
Well there is a positive spin on this too tbf.
Right now the AAA industry sits there in their ivory tower touting themselves as the 'best gaming experience' and justifying their price because of it
but AI could put a lot of power in the hands of indies as a tool rather than a replacement
now you have indies that could have the manpower of a AAA company through the use of AI.
@devout cliff ask chat gpt where will NMS stand with Ai implemented see what it says lol
That's the more optimistic perspective
ChatGPT won't know, because it's not inside Sean Murray's head, and no amount of aggregated data from across the internet is going to help it inform what is going on in his head.
Ask ChatGPT what the next NMS update will be
I bet you it will get it wildly wrong.
Captain Steve always does, and it's never been right
With Ai it can be pretty good to help with more with creation minds so you git an idea you can then also get Ai to design what your thinking and see what it comes up with compared with your creation
So not only it can be bad with taking jobs but on other side it's good with supporting
There is a world where AI could be used ethically in game design, there is a world where NMS could benefit from AI. But because Hello Games is a company full of developers and artists, it will never replace the value they bring and I would never want it to. I want games made by things that know what it feels like to play games
So 1 we don't want its to take over peoples jobs but it be great for a supporting role
like when Sean Murray says his favourite thing to do is fly up through the clouds. That's the kind of thing i want making my games. Sean Murray made NMS knowing what a thrill it was for us the first time we fly into space and look back at the planet we were just on, because he felt it too.
Am not saying for Ai to create ganes but to help more with people that have creative mind and help with ideas
So it be a supporting Ai role
On a lighter note. The last few updates have shown that HG's goal going forwards is to revisit old mechanics and update them/expand on them. What kinds of things do people think they will aim to improve or redo?
I think the living ships are a no-brainer, because people always say they're redundant because they can't install half the useful technology other ships can
I'd like them to redo how space anomalies work. Instead of being something that you spawn infront of yourself, i'd love space to have points of interest much like planets do: Asteroid fields, pirate listening outposts, the derelicts actually being in space, space battles not just spawning on warp but rather popping up intermittently in high conflict systems.
It's always exciting seeing your freighter warp in above you when you're planetside, or frigates flying over. Imagine looking up and seeing a pirate dreadnought space battle going on!
more space objects being visible from planets would be a neat change
right now you can just see your own freighter fleet, the space station, black holes and atlas stations.
There's a bug where sometimes NPC freighters and asteroids don't get hidden when you land in a purple system and it looks really cool
That sounds amazing. Remember when they started a few expeditions with the jelly fish in the sky, and when the normandy warped in. Moments like that are sooo good.
They did a few expeditions where a space anomaly would be in the sky at the start and it was a small thrill to starting off the expedition.
Ugh. Somebody got ai all over my space game 🤢
So AI coming to the game?
Iv been in this game a week:
people are begging on this discord for more teamwork oriented content in game. Hope the devs cookin stuff up the community feedback seems clear browsing here
It staggers me when people ask for generative AI to be included in NMS, or just games in general
The results are almost always terrible
It takes about 2 seconds to spot AI dialogue or art
Ethics aside it's just low quality
They could add a button to use gen ai and then when it’s on the player has constant sentinel aggro /j
Give some haulers the opening doors we see in pirate stations!!!!
You could just create it as a new customization part, depending on the interior parts you want.. you could add seating for multiplayer transport, or extra storage, or just make it look like a supply ship, etc.
This would make haulers feel more useful, and such large ships become more friendly to multiplayer!
I wish we could build our own space stations. That would be cool.
i would like to get race themed landing pads
that would be cool
The controller binds/functionality need to be updated
I will literally play test it myself
I have over 100 (custom) binds on another game for controller (on PS5) and at any given time I am using at least 40 of them i.e. a functional set up not just to say big number (no I'm not kidding)
@latent urchin As per channel rule: #nms-the-future message
Avoid posting meme in this channel.
Lol this is not that kinda game
I'm just citing that as a reliability thing; someone to consider on such a matter
The game control ergonomics is really not that great
I'm not asking for that kinda of game I'm just asking for it to be a better kind of game type idea you get me?
Larger hangar bays for venator and pirate freighters!!! (Also change the design around them so there's more room for additional ships, and it's not those pitiful turntables 🤣
Also, include the hangar bay as part of the base! Let us build some stuff in them!
Image is just an example^ we need hangar bays that we could actually do something with, not "hold a few ships in a 3x3 layout", no.. what we get is too small xD
Hey DEVS! Fix the F-wing hauler engines! The fins only tilt then you turn right, but NOT LEFT! make it both ways! >:T
I need more spots for everything
Should probably make it a thing to assign ships to specific spots^
Made this post awhile back as well, CMON DEVS, DO SOMETHING 🤣
Not for that..
bugs like this should be sent to their zendesk site. HG doesn't officially read this channel

I want more ship parts so bad man. I recently got really into the ship building aspect of the game and its sad to realize there are only a few engines. i love building fighter ships but all my engines end up being the 3 small ones or the big round one
I don't know exactly what you mean by the distress signals you mention, but it would be amazing if a signal would trigger a multiplayer invite for other online players who are on their capital ship with multiplayer features turned on. then if they accept it'll ping them your location and then they can come to you. this would be a fun way to find other new players you arent friends with outside of the anomaly hub
Oooo!
dynamic shadows according to the sun's movement, while in the freighter
that kinda needs to be fixed
Gib
What can we probably see new implemented into the game in the future i do wonder let's think about it and come up with ideas
Surfboards
Lmfao
Companions on Surfboards lmfao
That's just pushing it now. But, I do want surfboard and wind sailers, with customized sails
Craft our own hot air balloon ship
I feel like it can work since the nomad kinda acts that way, just a tad bit bulky
Yeah mit be cool
the windsailers would look gangsta
maybe some modification to the rig only
I want it to have two modes. Think of Jim and his hoverboard in treasure planet. Kinda like that
I want the option to show the pirates my 150 pirate transporters, and say something like "I dare you", when they contact me in space trying to strongarm me.
At that point I would consider Nms complete
I have wanted to do that since I started collecting them
Aaaaaaaaaaaw man . Dropfleet commander:scourge capital dreadnought freighter looks perfect for living freighter idea.
The inside of a living freighter would be a lot of work tbh
Not that I think HG wouldn’t be able to handle it but it‘d be a pretty huge undertaking I feel like
To me it would be complete once we get updated POI‘s, Fauna and a revamped faction system. Aside from that, everything else is a nice bonus (like proper fleet battles
)
Revamped POI‘s could be several things in one, like more procedural dungeons in the style of derelicts, some tailored to be endgame content.
A fauna overhaul could also be more than what it just says, it could be an opportunity to rework predators and add more of a survival element to the game that way. Since predators can be toggled on or off anyways I see no issue with making some more fearsome ones.
But honestly after everything we have gotten besides that I‘d be satisfied with just some texture updates to the old fauna and making poi‘s simply more modern.
Maybe I have also lost hope for more advanced fauna, I really don‘t think it‘s gonna happen. Honestly if the fauna was on the level of Starfield‘s in terms of behavior I‘d already be satisfied.
The only fear I have is that overhauling POI‘s could mess up planets again. HG have said that they won‘t do another universe reset iirc (even tho that‘d be the only way to fix colliding planets) so I allowed myself to get attached to planets again, hopefully I won‘t regret that.
I want an overhaul to the derelict freighters. More rooms and variety in hazards and enemy types could really make it worth exploring more. I would love an update dedicated to revisiting these because I think the procedural aspects have much more potential than HG explored.
Here are some ideas:
New enemy types, maybe we could introduce ground NPC combat in the form of pirate scavengers who ambush in a random event when you enter a derelict freighter. Maybe it's a Korvax ship and the ship's AI has gone rogue and turned all the Korvax crew on board into killing machines.
New hazards such as rooms with radiation leaks, electrical malfunctions with bolts of electricity that you have to dodge or unstable gravity fields that toss you around the ship. Perhaps the ship was set to self destruct after a catastrophic incident and you have to find and disable the protocol before it's too late. Expanded room variety in general with new room types and new layouts would be a huge plus.
Unique boss fight encounters with different rewards to give the player a reason to keep exploring new freighters. New rewards in general, please give us more potential rewards!
I believe the scrap dealer has never had anything new and is heavily under-utilized. After you own everything they have to offer your reasons to explore these freighters is essentially over. Maybe we could purchase new completely unique ship parts from the scrap dealer that we can't find in the wild to use on building custom starships. Maybe some more unique cosmetics or freighter base parts.
It makes sense that the scrap dealer would have scrap ship parts! we have ship building now, put 2 and 2 together and let our scrap dealer friends sell us ship parts for tainted metal! they have a proper booth now finally so now its time for them to have a purpose
That sounds like really good ideas. Though I do have some thoughts
For the new enemy types thing on derelict. If you want to have a pirate ambush on a freighter, it should possibly have a dogfight sequence before you land on it. Rather than ambush, should be patrols throughout the freighter (if the pathfinding of NPC's in settlements can be worked into derelict freighters, that could work better) that way it won't just be korvax, but a variety
Dodging of electricity might not work because of our walking speed, but radiation leaks in specific rooms, and some fires that you have to navigate through, definitely could work. Self destruct, maybe not (again, speed). Expanded rooms, yes, but for specific big rooms you occasionally find, but are empty, make them multi-layered to add a bit of vertical layouts.
Boss fights should be a kind of rare occurrence but big rewards, but different types of bosses. A pirate boss, has to have their own layout to where there is cover, either for you or them. Bigger bosses are gonna need the massive empty rooms though.
Scrap dealers for ship parts though, definitely makes sense cause where does all that metal go? Gotta make a use for that metal somehow
A multi-phase boss fight for derelict freighters that I came up with
Corrupted AI Core: A massive boss fight where the enemy takes up an entire room. The core is in the center with cables connecting it to components all over the arena. You have to destroy all of the components before destroying the core in the center.
Phase 1: The AI Core is invulnerable, protected by a shield powered by connected components. 10 glowing component nodes (data relays, power conduits etc.) are embedded in the environment. Each component in the room requires sustained multi-tool damage to destroy. The Corrupted AI Core deploys a wave of 6 Sentinel drones and four ceiling-mounted turrets activate, firing slow but powerful plasma shots. Players can destroy turrets or use cover (walls or crates) to avoid damage. The drones will attack the player as well as attempt to repair broken core components until they are destroyed.
Phase 2: After half the components are destroyed, the AI Core’s shield weakens, but it activates a defense mechanism, releasing EMP pulses and roaming energy orbs to protect the remaining components. Every 30 seconds, the Core emits an EMP that disables the player’s multi-tool for 15 seconds, preventing attacks. During this window, players must avoid hazards. 5-8 glowing electric orbs spawn and slowly roam the room, dealing 20% damage and draining oxygen if they hit the player. Orbs despawn after 15 seconds, coinciding with the multi-tool reactivating. Players must attack the remaining components in the 15 second windows that their multi-tool is active, spending the rest of the time dodging. When all components are destroyed phase 3 is triggered.
Phase 3: With the main shield collapsed the AI Core’s weak point can now be damaged directly with the multi-tool, but it has high health and will now shoot at the player. Players must maintain sustained fire on the weak point to destroy it while avoiding incoming fire. During this phase, random floor panels will flash for two seconds as a warning, and then those panels will become electrified, potentially dealing damage the player if they are not paying attention. This is the final phase and the player will then be rewarded for destroying the corrupted core.
I spent way too long on that but this is the kind of large scale multi-stage boss fights that I want to see on derelict freighters
And then something similar with some sort of Alien Queen for infested ones. Also imo leave the Sentinels out of the equation but instead expand on the security ai/drones. No reason for Sentis to be on a faction controlled freighter
Actually, with the Vykeens at war with sentinels and how much they go back and forth, there is possible reason for them to be on a freighter
Maybe so but we already fight them pretty much everywhere else so I don’t think we need them on derelicts too when those already have their own established security system. That reminds me that the turrets could also use some buffs.
What would a queen abomination look like and what can it do?
I'm a simple person. I just want to scare pirates away Xd
me being a dread pirate uh, I guess that's my cue to leave
What, with my 150 pirate transponders, and my fully upgraded infra knife in a supercharged square?
Oh shit flys the actual hell away but seriously? Fully upgraded infra knife? You can do that?
Yes?
Didn't know that was possible, I always thought that it would stay shit, but it doesn't look that way right now
60k damage wuold disagree
Yea I'm getting my pirate ass outta here
Maybe adding space cities controlled by sentinels
Like a space station combined with a settlement
Which would make sense according to the lore
After all where does a systems “manufacturing” happen?
and these cities could also be procedural and be like the ring of kaferene in Star Wars
We need this
LANDING ON ASTERIODS
BLACK HOLES REPLACING STARS
MID WARP ANOMALIES
ET CETERA!!!
I have a list of anyone wants to hear
We need to get Sean Murray to read my list
I want to hear
Ok
I’ll be typing for a while
💀
MY ULTIMATE LIST OF CRAP FOR NO MANS SKY TO MAYBE ADD:
• 1. derelict freighter boss fights with procedurally eldritch beings (and maybe some variated infestations)
• 2. Space bosses. Maybe there could be eldritch beings that randomly spawn while pulsing around and could be a procedurally generated boss so it’s different in each system. Maybe this update could give space anomalies and actually give them some function.
• 3. Space cities. According to the lore of No Man’s Sky the sentinels destroyed settlements when they got too big because of their obligation to protect their planets under harsh rule. Maybe you could find one or two of these new space cities per system which are procedurally generated but have settlement features. these cities can have variated exteriors like space stations and could be anything from a city in between two asteriods, or a huge orbital station looking thing. These places could be an explanation to where a system manufactures their goods, starships, and freighters. These poi’s have new features like setting up an automated way of making goods, or whatever hello games wants to do.
• 4. Planetary ruins. Sometimes you could find a destroyed planet or a mining catastrophe. These new planets could be like the gas giants and be one per system with many moons, and have terrain features that don’t let you land or go into the gaps/cracks in planets. I don’t know that’s a problem for hello games to solve.
• 5. mining stations. Sentinels could have these huge mining stations on dissonant or normal sentinel worlds and it could be a huge proc gen dungeon for a cool reward. These structures could also have a normal variant ran by aliens and could just function as trading posts
• 6. Ground combat with pirates. This is an ambitious thing for hello games but it could be a cool function in pirate-controlled systems?
• 7. Space wars. Could be just two space fleets fighting in high conflict systems.
(Part One)
Yeah this isn’t everything
@cobalt jetty I’m done with part one
Part two is coming soon
It’s awesome
Please add drive able freighters to the list
Like just drive them through space ( ima crash it on purpose with a purpose)
Title update: The Capital update
-
Own up to 3 freighters, a primary and 2 sub freighters
-Primary freighter, able to command 2 new squadrons if needed to help send out on expeditions (can be accessed with other freighters) more inventory and bigger space to build and set up shop.
-sub freighters, can have a fleet up to 15 frigates each to help expand and increase storage safes by 3 boxes each.
-increases ship storage by 9 slots each so that you don't have to put them in archives -
Fleet battles
-if using pulse engine, it is possible to be forcibly stop by a pirate fleet or sentinel ship. Sentinel ship, only 1 or a pirate fleet with up to 3 freighters themselves. A variety of predetermined positions your fleets will come warp to you and help out. A squad you have assigned with you will stay close but squadrons you have on standby will help out during a dogfight throughout the battlefield. (Maybe pathfinding AI can help out knocking down shields) -
Customizable weaponry
- access your fleet weapons to rank them up to S class while being able to upgrade their range and damage individually (change weapons to either lasers, blaster, or torpedoes and increases stats so that the classes scales with them) Add more turrets or docks on combat frigates to increase helpful NPC's during the battle
-
Bigger space to build
-be able to set up shops in primary freighter so that it has a flow of income of both units and nanites, (can only be accessed if you have 4 settlements, all of them at least 75% happiness with a max of 100,000 debt each since you are sometimes given missions that put you in debt to help the settlements) -
Squadron building
-able to build your squadrons ships individually to give and create new allies and increase their damage output
-create formations and command them during dogfights or exploring. Each formations tailored to help take down pirate shields, sticking together, or breaking off so that they can go ham and not get in your way.
A fleet battle could sometimes occur while you're on the ground. Exploring, npc building, or settlement.
I feel like there should be more, but that's all I could think of right now.
I'm glad more people are talking about overhauling the derelict freighters
It's going to be hilarious when the next update is all about a new kite flying mechanic
I also love the ides of space settlements but I'm not sure what they could be used for unless freighter construction became a thing, or they move the settlement mechanic to space
I say overhaul Abandoned/Infested buildings instead; turn them into entrances to planet-based procedural dungeon instances, and set derelict freighters up as sources of mats needed either to enter or complete the larger/more difficult derelict bases.
POI‘s generally need a revamp (maybe in the form of a Worlds Pt. 3^^) they haven‘t changed at all except for the addition of a few new ones.
However what I‘d also like to see is the Exocrafts getting some more love. Worlds Pt.2 as great as it was, was a missed opportunity in that regard. I personally use most of the exocrafts, but moreso for fun reasons rather than actual functionality (even tho some of them do have some niche usecases, but not something you are really reliant on).
The Nautilon treatment was a good start, the new deep ocean planets gave it purpose. Most of the other exocraft however are only built by players in order to complete the questline and are then never used again.
HG could have added more hardcore variations of existing biomes, for example swamp planets with actual swamps which are extremely hard to traverse by foot. Or actual dune deserts with quicksand and hostile encounters akin to a Sarlacc Pit.
I think there are many ways to turn some worlds more hostile in a way that would benefit exocrafts and their usage. But tbh I think that ship has sailed since iirc they dont wanna touch world gen. again, but I still feel like changes of this sort would have greatly benefitted exocrafts.
There are still over 3000 phantom stars per region HG can expand into if they want to do more biome expansion, but I wouldn’t expect to see that for a good while. HG tends to cycle between major parts of the game when it comes to updates - I’d guess that we’ll be seeing some work done on the build system as the next “big” thing to update.
I think POI‘s need the attention much more tbh, they are functionally the same as in 1.0 except for new stuff like Settlements.
They also ought to be the main reason to explore planets but once you have done a bunch of each and exhausted all their lore only few remain worth visiting.
I do agree
Might add the freighter thing and poi thing to THE ULTIMATE LIST
Don’t worry I’m giving credit
Why are there not more achievements. And why haven't they balanced how rewarding certain endeavours are (trade routes are an encouraged thing to think about/set up yet it takes 10x as long as just grabbing some storm crystals).
The biggest problem with Freighters (Crashed and Derelict) and Ancient Sites, etc. are the SINGLE design. Every one is the same. At least make 2-3 variations to spawn at random (liek monolith designs), or do something procedural to assemble them from interchangeable parts.
Doing those has become a chore after 4-5 repeats (especially derelicts, bc, Freighter upgrades) rather than a fun game experience.
I'd also throw Gas Giants in as a missed opportunity. How are they not like every other planet? They really should behave more like water, with increasing pressure the deeper you go. No "ground" per se to land on, either.
Should need to use jetpack or an exocraft to get around on them.
Resopurce deposits should be liek the floaty asteroid ones, etc.
I actually meant the existing Rogue AI bots but i said sentinel drones as a general term by mistake!
I want planetary dungeons so bad, but I always wonder how it would affect terrain generation. The way derelict freighters work allow them to be instanced and loaded all on their own. How would this work in planetary dungeons without some loading screen that breaks the seamlessness of exploration?
Planetary things like crashed freighters, sentinel pillars and drop pods flatten out the surrounding/necessary terrain with their generation, could be something like that
I more so just mean that entire dungeons seem like they would be a heavy load unless they could somehow be instanced all on their own
Believe me I want some straight up Indiana Jones temples with traps and everything I just am curious on what the logistics would be
But at the same time I highly doubt Light No Fire will have no planetary ruins. I feel like some version of most of the cool tech we will see in LNF will make its way into NMS at some point
Imma be honest I can't stand the fact that none of the cool bosses in NMS drop any kind of rewards. I fought the new stone guardian dudes and it was a cool fight in VR and then I was left disappointed once again by getting absolutely nothing. Would be nice if there was like a small chance of getting a piece of the relic armor from the expedition or something
Unfortunately I don't think the game would be able to handle multiple procedural dungeons on planets.
It's why they should just really really flesh out derelict freighters, add in multiple hazards, more enemies, more traps etc etc.
I don't think it would be any more of a technical challenge than the freighters. just a matter of walking down some stairs and load a separate environment for the dungeon, then load the planet when you leave
- Add ocean depth stat to HUD. Right now, it's shown when fishing.
- Expand freighter research.
- CHANGE CREDITS TO FLOAT POINT!!! I'm not happy being forced to spend money just to make more.
- Expand storage in vaults. See #2.
- Make different base-building parts snap together. Like allow a cuboid to snap to deep-sea room.
One thing I always get annoyed about is storage, I hate being inefficient with my storage, but I probably have 10 different stacks of little amounts of items all in different freighter storage containers. Can't we have an easy sort all button?
I feel HG needs to stop focusing on cosmetics and add some actual fun to the game. Dungeons and some PVE would be nice, new enemy types etc, also the only cosmetics the game is lacking is character, not everyone has the time to do expeditions, some of the armour and stuff should be able to be obtained by fighting bosses and you get drops etc that would be nice and give us a purpose to fight
cosmetics are just cherry on top of what HG does
2 last updates were dedicated to reworking some underutilized gameplay mechanics (settlements, ancient bones)
Before that we got overhauled planets, fishing, special combat-oriented expedition, new infestation to fight
HG does lots of things, combat activities are just one of the pillars of the game, the main focus is still on exploration
I agree with the statement that HG could add the fancy armors to drop from enemies, lets say chitin armor from brood mothers, living stone armor from ancient guardian mechs
Thanks for sharing this, I'm definitely not the most technical person, but I always assumed that the only reason they hadn't made crashed freighters into dungeons was because they couldn't.
But if its possible, I have no idea why it hasn't been added already
I'd happily take a loading screen in exchange for planetary dungeons
Since one of the derelict freighter captain’s logs mentions integrating sentinel tech to the ship, and sentinel cannons can be uninstalled from interceptors, let us install sentinel cannons to regular ships—potentially with a cost like jamming them during sentinel space combat
I just want the sentinel cannon to shoot purple lazers 😦
An update to the derelicts would be really cool, such as adding variation in design, layout, and size, adding derelict pirate dreadnoughts would be awesome, and adding a derelict version of the organic vessels, named a forgotten carcass, it could have organic horrors for treasures, living ship modules, and other such things, and a sentinel derelict, with new forms of sentinel and new tech and resources
Call it “No man’s sky: Dereliction”
There seems to be a growing desire for this, which is great.
Would no man's sky dereliction not go hard af?
I had a similar thought to this! Even some simple aesthetic things could vastly improve the variety. Like rather than always cold hazard, why not toxic spores if the derelict is infested? Or fires breaking out and a hazy heat (ignoring the vacuum of space for a moment! say there's an oxygen shield bubble around that particular variety) in others? There could then be both different volumetrics and filters to give the toxic ones a thick sense of greenish luminescence to the derelict or the hot and choking sense of claustrophobia in the fiery ones.
Just those 'small' changes could really mix up the feel of derelicts from one to another.
I hadn't thought of different derelict types tho, and the idea of pirate and sentinel derelicts is an amazing idea!
I'm in shock, I thought it was quite unpopular to want better derelicts but all the suggestions here are so good
If they had different hazards, different enemies, chances of S tier modules and cores, ship parts (and multitool parts when they eventually add customisation), they it could really be a fun midgame/endgame. The difficulty could scale with C - X difficulty derelicts or Derelicts being the easiest (C), then pirate (B), then Sentinel (A), then Infested (S), then Atlantid/Cursed (X)
Oh yes
Imagine autophage ships
They should expand on autophage as a whole
They could add a derelict to pirate bases. You could be made to fight the pirates off and then allowed to land on their base. Then you'd have to fight your way through them to kill their captain. All booty would of course be pirate-related. With different types of derelicts the possibilities are endless
Do you mean those random derelicts you find while using the pulse engine
No, but those could be made into something other than nothing too. I mean the ones you fight pirates around during pirate hunting missions
I’m not quite sure I’ve seen one as that doesn’t ring a bell
Could you send a picture
Go to a pirate controlled sector and take on a pirate hunt from the space station. You'll see what I mean
i hope they add procedurally generated sentient species, like, not space species like the geks or the korvax, but making settlements with more primitive procedurally generated species, i said this on reddit and A FUCK TON of people got mad at me
Helicopter exocraft. I think it’d be nice to have an aerial vehicle that isn’t a ship, like how there’s 4 separate ground-specific vehicles. Let me have an exocraft to fly around in-atmosphere to get places without always having to get in my ship
Upgrade the nomad enough and it basically becomes an aerial vehicle /j
What if for the starfleet update, the pirate destroyers would have the hangar bay at the front HERE instead of up top and cramped??? With the freighter base connected this way??
There's literally a big useless opening there 🤣
Bro I would love for us to have more freighters in our fleets like how the merchant fleets are, or have more then one fleet.
What if you could assign certain ships of yours to your squadron, and they actually use whatever you have set up in terms of technology? Squadrons would be useful!
Okay I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but we need more lore dependent places in the universe
Like an Ecumenopolis representing the Vy'keen home world with a Jedi Temple like structure for Hirk. A ruined planet of the First Spawn capital or derelict First Spawn outposts. We need more cities representing the three races, though I'd imagine it would be difficult since every building in NMS is fully accessible, would be difficult for an entire planet's worth of cities
No Man's Sky: Starfleet
(Hypothetical update)
Additional Space Combat Features (Expansion to Starfleet):
• Frigates can be assigned roles such as striker, defender, support, or disruptor.
• Fleet formations can be selected and adjusted mid-combat (e.g. wedge, line, ring).
• Players can issue fleet orders from the freighter bridge or a remote command terminal.
• Capital ships are now armed with customizable turrets: lasers, missiles, flak, EMP.
• Point-defense systems automatically intercept enemy projectiles and fighters.
• Ship subsystems (shields, engines, weapons) can be individually damaged and repaired.
• Damaged frigates can dock in repair bays or enter stasis for automatic repairs over time.
• Enemy freighters can be disabled and boarded for loot, data, or salvage.
• A tactical command interface is now available on the freighter bridge, showing real-time fleet positions.
• Frigates gain experience through combat and can unlock passive bonuses and visual customization options.
First of all, yes we need more structures to represent those races, but we need also more races
new races might be hard though, they will have to rework the procedural generation logic and the lore as well cause the existing three are pretty interlinked and have a history
Then again they introduced the Autophage so maybe possible
true... but hello games has created one of the biggest games ever so i think that should not realy be an problem, idk
okay yeah it could interupt with the world generation and the Story but i im sure they find a way to do this if they want to add new races
maybe in a new Galaxy or smth
maybe new race, related to autophage. friend of foe
Ooooo! I love this expansion!
No Man's Sky: Starfleet
(Hypothetical update)
Another addition – Freighter Planetary Scan Feature
• Freighters can be equipped with planetary scanning arrays.
• Upon activating the scan, a large searchlight beam emits from orbit onto the planet’s surface.
• Players on the planet receive a visual marker indicating the scan target area.
• While exploring near the scan zone, players can uncover rare structures, anomalies, or unique resource clusters.
• Once the scan completes, the freighter logs the data and transmits a detailed planetary report.
• The scanned data can be sold for high value, as long as the player does not alter or harvest the site.
• Interacting with the location (mining, placing structures, killing fauna) voids its data value permanently.
• Players can choose to sell the untouched data to specialist vendors, or explore and keep the find for themselves.
• Scan cooldown is limited and requires fuel or special modules.
that isnt a "this must be in the game" but it would be cool and another addition to gain untis
yeah a big disappointment I always had with the game is how few races there are. In my mind they should have gone wild with a ton of procedurally generated races. Give us that true Star Wars feel where you walk into a cantina and there's 50 different species represented. Only having three main races for the entire universe doesn't exactly feel very sci fi to me
For a game of this size I still would like a sense of familiarity, like the neighborhood you grew up in. The gek, korvax, and vykeen are each very distinct, and adhere to games themes also, the fighter, the scientist, and the scavenger, trader type, and the explorer being the traveller. They symbolize something, they have a meaningful presence within the games lore, creating dozens of procedural counterparts would struggle to maintain all of that substance, so I think the “limitations” here if you want to call it that are deliberate and sensible.
Yeah I respect that viewpoint, but I also think what HG did by distilling races down to stereotypes is something that we try to avoid in real life, and while it fit their abstracted narrative, I don't think it created an interesting society. The universe is about limitless possibilities in both exploration and societal issues. Those issues being mirrors of our own human struggles is the core of what sci fi is, after all. And if they wanted familiarity they could have put the three races we know into distinct regions of the galaxy, so if you happen to love the Gek you can just stay in that area. And you might see Gek traders and pilots in other areas. I think there was a game design that could server both purposes.
I would love this, but some people wouldn't. Maybe if it was an option in game setup?
This was my take on the freighters of what you can do. I know it's not as much as yours, but I wanted to go into detail of what little points I made on here
While I would love this, it'll fundamentally break the lore
The Vy'keen, Korvax and Gek have complicated histories with each other ranging from hate to neutrality.... If HG added 50 more races then a lot of questions will arise like what were these other races doing during the First Spawn rampage? Which races helped the Korvax during their hardest times at the hands of the Gek? A lot of interactions need to be done with minimal retcons
Exactly. NMS is already rife with too much Quantity over Quality. It doesn't need to muddy the waters further
It‘d also reduce the meaning of meeting the unique traveller NPC‘s imo, we already do get glimpses into what other species could have looked like through them.
What we really need is an overhaul of the factions we already do have. Maybe adding minor factions to them, we already know from the lore that such groups exist, for example the titan worm cult of the Vy‘keen or a Gek group called the last spawn which apparently hunts travellers according to their lore. So many interesting things which offer opportunities for the gameplay already exist in this universe but only in-text form.
Making it possible to encounter such groups would add a lot to the experience. More complext NPC Interactions would also be nice, but from what I’ve heard the NPC Behavioral code is burried under so much Spaghetti that its pretty much not recoverable at this point (I‘m no developer though, so idk!) which is why NPC‘s haven‘t been touched except for visual overhauls.
But a revamp of the faction system which leads to more emergent gameplay would be my dream. For example the systems which are labelled as „at war“ should really have more unique encounters, like proper battles between fleets (ig pirate dreads count?) taking place or on the ground. I also cant get the one trailer clip out of my mind where we saw like 4 or more sentinel dogs marching together in line like a proper military patrol. Such behavior is one thing still not found today.
Add different style cannons to exocraft
It's why subfactions within races would work best.
Give each race 3-6 subfactions each. The autophage are already a Korvax subfaction
We can definitely use a long-barrel tank cannon.
I just want to know also, did everyone enjoy the cursed boundary failure mechanic?
And would you want it added to purple systems only?
I'm a big fan of this and would really like it brought back
There should be some sort of color module that you can insert into multi tools that allows you to change the color of the mining laser
I want more staff customization
Do this for any weapons..
Yeah
Hi! I love No Man’s Sky and wanted to share a few ideas for settlements:
- NPCs could have real needs: food, water, medicine.
- Villagers should take resources from storage and build automatically.
- NPCs could grow families and pass on generations.
- In multiplayer, players could visit giant cities with shops and player-run businesses.
- Maybe even servers where players build trade empires.
Beacon was a great step, and I think it can go even further!
(English is not my native language, sorry if it's not perfect.)
Thats spot on
That´s for real an great idea, i mean Hello Games could combine this with the theoretical "Starfleet" update that would be realy cool and i think most of the people that play NMS would enjoy this update, even if they say "nah that would turn NMS into an MMO" if Hello Games does it right, the update could be realy good.
(sry for misspelling my Native language is German)
I don't think these ideas for settlements are any good, taking care of all settlers would be a ton of work
Sounds really good. 👍 Especially the giant cities and shops.
We can already have automatic production without having to provide respective resources
and you can forget about cities and servers like that, the game at its core was not designed to be a MP exprerience like that
HG provided more work for settlements, but in return we got more utility / functionality out of them
You're right — No Man’s Sky wasn’t designed as a full multiplayer MMO.
But I think that’s what makes it even more impressive how far it has come.
The game already has deep lore, multiple races, ancient empires, and ruins...
But we still haven’t seen any real cities, capitals, or centers of power.
That’s why I think small-scale city simulation (even singleplayer-first) could bring that missing piece of the universe to life — without needing full MMO servers.
and Im talking about technical limitations inherent to the game's engine
the game can barely manage 1 big structure like planetary archive
Yea i know al this just dream and this is really hard to do
we have settlements which are very limited, very pre-defined to make it work
Yea this true but this is just start like first start of no mans sky i think they can do more step by step
yeah
Would a hand-built world work in that case maybe at the center of Euclid, we could have the Vy'keen home planet as an ecumenopolis like Coruscant from Star Wars, since the engine could not procedurally generate that many meshes?
The planetary archives aren't hard on performance because they're procedurally generated, they're hard on performance because they are large, heavily detailed models that take a lot of space in memory and are demanding to load
The space anomaly is similarly heavy despite having no procedural elements, which is why there used to be the infamous stutter when leaving planets on PC.
Didn't notice those big building was hard on performance. It felt the same to me since I'm on ps5
I can only imagine this being done in an enjoyable way if they used new planets for it and then handled it like dissonance, labelling those planets as „boundary breach/failure detected“.
They would also need to offer unique rewards in order for people to seek them out. They could work quite well as some sort of endgame content now that I think about it.
I guess this makes the most sense. It should definitely be a system wide like pirate systems but exclusively for purple systems.
HG have broken the progression of the game in that you can literally get endgame things within an hour of playing the game.
So locking another tier after X(Y class for example) in these systems could be a great progression milestone.
I've always had an idea for really difficult derelict freighter-esque dungeons but with the Atlas Station aesthetic (Atlas Ruins for example).
You could farm Y class reactors/cores for ships and tools, they could even add in a new merchant who let's you convert X class exosuit upgrades to Y with Y cores. So the MinMax farm would be great (farming the best X modules and farming Y cores)
I realised this is just a thinly veiled ad for better derelicts & more dungeons which has been repeated over and over
Already been talked about a bunch of course but a derelict update would be great
Making them harder wouldn't even have to be that controversial, they could add additional, optional floors to visit after you get the existing rewards that have tougher enemies and more valuable loot
Yeah just some deeper sections within the freighters. Maybe even make it so that the deeper you go the more apparent the infestation becomes.
I would actually love some sort of pirate update again, maybe features like players being able to hostile scan other ships maybe raiding/attacking civilians freighters. Thatd be cool
Bountys on players maybe
Kind of like bounty's on ai pirates but bounty's on players and the ai come to claim the bounty
For the derelict update yall wanted . The Void update
(I looked up the update trailers on YouTube and I didn't see them use this name yet, I think)
Gonna try and make it reasonable
-More deeper and varied floors
-multi layered floors
-ambushes from pirates, sentinels, and possibly hostile passengers.
-scrap metals used to buy ship parts from dealers (varied from system to system)
-multi staged boss battles (rare occurrences)
-exclusive rewards from derelict ships that could introduce a new class
-dog fights outside of derelict ships to access it (added point for the ambush thing)
Anything else?
I wanted to simplify it so that people could add more onto here
Definitely planetary dungeons. I'd trade a load screen for them if they were within crashed freighters.
When I'm exploring on foot, a crashed freighter always looks awe inspiring, but there's nothing there. If they were procedural dungeons it would be sick, especially underwater ones.
P-p-pirate?
I'll be thrilled if the No Man's Sky developers add new building materials, like concrete and better roofs, something more modernistic and found every day in real life.
A better building system: easier to make rounded buildings out of ordinary building materials (not fabricated ones) and better ability to rotate building objects ALSO furniture.
Ability to build a base in orbit without using bugs!
I think this will give players many great new opportunities to reveal their architectural talents and allow them to develop their imagination more and more effectively in the best sci-fi game on the market!!

They should bring back the 256th galaxy and make it all purple star system content with the variety of red, green, blue, and purple systems
For a more detailed galaxy
I think it would be cool if your standing with certain races and guilds had an effect on how you interact with them. Like if you had a high Vy’keen standing, conversations with them become friendlier and you have a higher chance of positive reactions to you practicing their language. Or if you have a high pirate standing, npcs are more hostile or you get cargo scanned more often
Caves and cliffs for no mans sky
Bigger better caves
Dissonant geodes
Ancient mines
Repaint ships.
Drivable freighter.
Freighter aerial bombardment can be called in on sentinels.
Aerial bombardment seems a little excessive
It might be, but I can dream
Fair enough
My other dream is for this to become like gta but in space
Might be a bit biased but i think itd be nice to have your current altitude from lowest point/water level on the analysis visor
Make the Nautilon Platform be placeable on water surface and not have to float up 🙏
And make it so wood floors connect better like the stone ones, im a little tired of the planks being stopped by the ugly border
I would like a very simple quality of life improvement. Use of the analysis visor to scan animals and plants from your exo craft and Nautilus
On the subject of exocraft quality of life changes: make it so pressing keys bound to left or right make the exocraft turn left or right…like literally every single other games vehicle system
Expanding exocraft slots and make controlling them a lot nicer
They should make a new exocraft thats something alone the lines of the nomad, but instead its a super fast hover bike
I wish they were more useful, I cant ever see myself using the Colossus as a vehicle and not just for extra storage
For real! I only use the Minotaur and that’s mostly for distracting the sentinels. The colossus just seems to big for much usefulness
Yeah the Minotaur is the only useful one besides maybe the submarine and that's only bc there's only one underwater craft and we dont have infinite oxygen and dont move around as fast in the ocean
Oh yeah I forgot about the submarine. I really only use that for scanning the underwater stuff and even then once I have the coordinates I just fly there and swim down to it
It would be nice if caves were more... more! Imagine a vehicle with a drill in the front to dig tunnels underground
I mean I’ve seen some decently sized caves I just wish you could find more there rather than just cobalt and whatever underground plants are down there plus the very occasional artifact. It just feels very bland
They’d be better with even just some extra decor in them like bioluminescent moss or ruined buildings or something
I actually find the Pilgrim pretty nice, with the fastest booster and tire upgrades it feels like a real racing craft
Jumping after boosting makes it go SUPER fast too, especially if you go over a hill
We already have that
I spent 30 minutes drying to set the platform, it doesnt work
This?
Yes
But underwater
We have nautilion bay for parking natilion underwater.
I like mine at my water base, i can sit on a ledge and laser all the resources in water from it with great view
I feel like I need to make an underwater base for all the stuff I need that’s under water. Feels like every time I get a new upgrade module it has to have something from the sea😂
Oh its actually on a small island in a 98% water area of the planet (paradise), im building a racetrack and underwater portion soon as i finish my freighter base build, finally got my farms setup for all crops on it etc
I never really understood the point of the crops other than to get stuff like solanium and cactus flesh
We can make food that gives us buffs with the ingestor
Maybe a food update that let's us sell crops, farming simulator but in space!
I havent started my cooking journey, but i have 40+ of each crop now growing on freighter floor i made 🤣
And i figure when more of my friends start playing they can get a quickstart on their own from it
I think they should add in the shuttle ships for customization now. To go along with that, more customizable parts to ships, not just new wings, but be able to add different type of wings onto an existing wing or fins
Along with updates to derelict freighters, there should be dissonant interceptors that attack on dissonant planets instead of normal ones
Also a dissonant walker
Dissonant walkers gonna have 4 legs instead of just two, blasters, lasers and cannon
That just sounds like a dissonant quad
Not those little things....I'm thinking like, maybe AT-AT
I don't know if it would be possible, but I think it would be cool if you could walk around in your freighter while warping and also be able to have your ship in first person mode while warping
Could be nice but how?? Example of a collab could be that we have Venator and Imperial destroyer designs as freighters but that would cost a lot for HG since it would be a one way collab... What could be a collab that benefits both HG and LucasFilm??
Darth Vader helmet for quicksilver or something
A Varactyl as a pet/reward from a star wars themed expedition
A multi tool upgrade that shoots and sounds like a DC 15 rifle
The "Fortnitification" of games needs to be put down. With violent insurrection if necessary
NMS' legally destinct nods to other franchises is better than actual crossovers IMO. We have a Darth Vader type helmet already, the Iron Vulture comes with an almost perfect Razor Crest front section, freighters are able to spawn with parts obviously based on Star Trek and 2001: A Space Odyssey
Vy'keen settlements are designed to look like Mos Eisley from Star Wars
The same week Dune Part I came out we got the Emergence update, which added a ton of new titan worm parts including some that were obviously a nod to the 1984 movie
Those are all subtle features that feel like they belong in the NMS universe, compared to the Normandy SR1 frigate which sticks out and doesn't really match anything else in the game
I agree, yes. But no mans sky does nods to other sci fi stuff, not blatant crossovers or paid themes of franchises. (Except the Normandy. I can spot it from planets distance away because of how much it stands out) so if they're able to do ideas inspired by others and put their own take on it, then that's fine
Large scale space battles go brrr
It's a winning formula, that much you cant deny
Add laser sights to multi tools
Add suppressor to multi tools
Add foregrip to multi tools
It would be epic
(Games)
I can and I do. Is it the perfect, soulless, corporate money-grab option? Meant to prey on the easy wow factor of nostalgia while mindlessly, milking the IP cow for everything it's worth? Yes. Do I consider that complete lack of imagination and initiative "winning"? No. Hell no.
Follow the money
Right down the toilet
Or here me out, no mans sky skins in Fortnite
More people coming to this game, they'll have to update and add stuff to keep em around too
Bc at the end of the day, there's nothing to do in this game
But dang if it isn't fun
The defense rests.
Speaking of defense i wish settlement people would fight back and defend their home instead of mindlessly running around during a sentinel attack
When collecting graves items should go back where they were originally
Every freighter crash site should have a minimum of 1 freighter upgrades module
Would really love more power options having to build on em spots to avoid solar panel spam sucks
It's the electromagnetic stuff being useless if my cool base happens to not be near one, for me
The point is it's either em gens or dozens of solar panels and batteries would be nice if there were better options
Batteries are an eye sore
I usually build a generator building that's away from the main base
What about adding past expedition rewards has rare weakened mission rewards
Or maybe a new longer mission type that's like a mini expedition
It would be nice if new players could earn that stuff somehow
Or maybe like extremely rare loot from various activities idk
Again, the ability to cancel a landing.
Insane that's not a normal thing by now
I would really like a platform I can build in my base/freighter where I can display ships that I have in my Archive. I just want a garage full of all my ships to walk through.
I would like it if they added more depth to the random deep space encounters, like the emergency shelter pods, containment devices, listening posts, etc. like for example, if you went to the planet the emergency shelter pod came from, you would find it destroyed or overrun with disease or something, and there could be a quest to find them a new home
More or better in depth control with bytebeat and more sections to work with
What is the lore behind the Living Ships? I ask because with Hello Games seemingly making a lot of content updates improving existing systems, lots of demand to make living ships viable again, the Wraith being a reward from WP2, and us still waiting on part 4 of the void mother ARG... an update to living ships seems a good bet, maybe alongside the ARG part 4 expedition?
And for good measure, a big living freighter as an expedition reward or part of the update.
It would be cool if we had clans in this game or something similar
Wounder if we will ever get living freighters
Official player group support would be cool but the last thing nms needs to to turn into a pvp game so if clans means a big focus on pvp I'd rather never get it
How about this, pvp where upgrades aren't active, so it's just skill. Or where everyone gets buffed the same so its an even pvp
I think NMS has found itself as a very chill audience on the whole, so I don't think there will ever be a heavy emphasis on PVP. Even most encounters in the game except a few are 'opt in' type affairs.
I think if clans ever are supported, it will be more to make things like the galactic hub more officially supported in-game, but even then I think those kinds of communities are better served outside of the game by themselves.
I do think LNF will probably have some kind of clan support tho.
nO
We should have Exocraft be updated to be closer to Starships, having Classes, Procedural parts, and even weapon modules
I'd feel that NMS has been a bit too focused on Space currently, and that's why I feel Worlds Part 1 and 2, along with Beacon are pretty good and even needed updates
But other than that, the ground has been a bit untouched. I'd feel that adding some kind of exocraft garage to settlements, along terrestrial combat between players and NPCs would be pretty cool to see
Hell, we could even get new Exocraft like Hoverbikes, Walkers, and maybe even tanks.
@regal thunder
Fuck yes
Would love an exocraft update rn they suck and I never use them outside the submarine
And give it the skull of the Ocean King space anomaly as armor.
Honest to god must-have, good weapons
Freighter weapons do jack squat when you summon it to help fight off pirates/enemy freighters, most times. Some weaponry that actually pack a punch on board would be a NECESSITY.
Might be going too far, but an exclusive room crafted from the various resources needed to craft the organs for the Living Ship (Qualia, Liquid Sun, etc.). This room could be a fleshy, almost infested-like room that resembles a nest. The feature? It would create Psionic Eggs every 2 days. That is all.
Ngl I'm hoping that the current proceedural parts get a facelift tbh
That's the absolute baseline, and also why I think Living Ships will definitely get a revisit, even if its part of a larger update and not one on its own. Bringing all the new ship weapons and upgrades to Living Ships wouldn't even be much development: the models for the projectiles can stay mostly the same, its just new 2D sprites for the living ship equivalent of each technology.
The fact that aquatic looking ships can't land on water is ridiculous!!
((after that gif in WP2 or was it 1? where the wraith dives for a brief moment underwater, i've always hoped they would be fully aquatic. But as someone said, at the speed ships actually fly, you would hit the bottom in a matter of seconds. So it would also have to slow down incredibly the second it hit the water as well, go into like a submersible mode.))
I agree. We definitely need an exocraft rework. Everything is insane distances away you have to use your starship anyway and majority of using the crafts is just to wander. The radar can detect depots and trading outposts but those tend to be hours away anyways. I'd like to see more exocraft focused content for sure
i wish u could own multiple freighters
and an open to increse base part render ddistance
true
The fundamental problem with exocraft is that it doesn't take too long for most players to get a starship that auto-recharges the launch thrusters. And the launch thrusters themselves can be made very fuel-efficient. So apart from gas giants and the new, really deep water worlds you mostly don't need them to get around and their only real utility is their ability to scan for certain PoIs that starships (arbitrarily) cannot. Couple that with the fact that you still have to get out to scan minerals/flora/fauna and it should be no surprise that most people just don't bother with them.
That said, I don't really know how they would fix them either. I have specific gripes (first-person/cockpit controls are garbage) but the only real way to make exocraft better would be by making starships worse and I don't think anyone wants that.
This is exactly right. Convenience kills necessity. The buffs put on the starships make exocraft obsolete for the most part. Just like the portal system makes pirating impractically easy. A few well-placed restrictions despite the "wahh, we want everything easy" crowd griping, would go a long way to help this game.
Its sort of a fundamental problem with the design of the game, the whole point of No Man's Sky is exploring alien planets but it is super inconvenient to walk more than a few minutes away from wherever you landed your ship.
Exocraft could be fixed if they were used as more of a mobile base. Give them their environmental protection back, allow you to discover things from them, maybe give them large refiners or something? Any sort of functionality that ships don't have would be good.
The colossus feels like something you should build to be able to explore a planet with conditions too extreme to survive on on foot, but in practice it isn't any good for that
Uh am i missing something? My exocraft have environmental protect
All exocraft originally fully protected you from weather, like being inside a structure. When they added the Minotaur, they nerfed the protection on every other craft. Unless they changed it since, the other craft just slow the rate that the protection meter goes down.
The only way I see to make exocraft viable is what they did with water planets. Make certain ones (planets with emiril and indium for example) be so environmentalally unstable you Must use an exocraft
I want our trading to affect the economic status of the system.
They sort of did this with gas giants and the Colossus. Those can even have a refiner now. But that's the Colossus. Painfully slow, and that's before you realize that most gas giants, by virtue of being in purple systems, can have some of the roughest terrain you've ever seen outside of those vanilla "oops all mountains" planets.
The utility of exocraft is also hobbled by the slot-based inventory system. Endgame you can carry your entire life in your backpack. A game where you needed to worry about the mass and volume of items is a game where driving a big truck around suddenly becomes way more appealing. Hell, it would even make the different classes of starship an actual tradeoff and not a purely aesthetic choice.
I think my hottest take here is that portals and teleporters ruin everything. If I could make any single change to the game, it would be the option to leave your starship where it is. Teleporters and portals are just for your person, and if you use them without planning and preparation, you're going to be stuck for a while until you can 1) find a crashed ship and get it working again or 2) build a teleporter and bampf back to familiar territory. Ideally, this would come with a reworked system where starship fabricators are a buildable facility and you could finally, trully, make your own ships if necessary.
Give me reasons to go to 1 and 2 star economies. Right now, I pretty much just go to 3 star economies and (late game) usually purple systems. Unless I am missing something (whitch is entirely possible), I have no reason to go anywhere else, which seems limiting.
Also, I might be in the minority, but I would like fewer exocraft. Maybe just the mech, a speeder-type vehicle (limited altitude flying), submarine, and a large vehicle. That’s it. Additionally, make scanning types universal amongst all exocraft.
More types of point of interest would be nice. There are samme buildings u visit all the time and they arent that interessting tbh. Also better coop interaction, some “dungeon type” locations (like abandonen freighter) but for that we would also need more variable enemies and more rewarding combats
Can we pave roads on terrain for bases, making them kind of like how decals work?
Surely some already talked here about it, but I would like more kind of capital freighters, or maybe bigger ships like usable corvettes. And with that more space battles that includes the battles between freighters (not only the pirate dreadnought), and that the frigates moves all over the battle. Also a more type of starships, or even craft new interceptors instead of just looking for the one you like all over the universe. Also engage in combat with your own freighter would be really fun too.
Use concrete floors for roads
It auto clears terrain as you place too
For context on my idea I encountered a lot of anomalies while looking for a new biological frigate and when looking in multi-player it says "(user) has found (anomaly) in deep space" but really that isn't deep space with all the sunlight. I'm thinking of being able to go between stars with exoplanets maybe even asteroids we could land on. Find new resources or even new fauna maybe even leviathan type creatures that could be peaceful of a mini boss like a pirate dreadnought fight. Idk "deep" space in the game isn't really deep space
Needs shared progress mode for coop
Why do we have 3 wall light colors in a game about trillions of star systems and existentialism?
Just wanted to say it out loud lol. Could have 18 trillion colors but instead we got 18 trillion star systems or whatever
I would like it so you can't just summon your ship to you, instead you will have to find a building with a landing pad or one of those ship summoning beacon things, or walk/use your exocraft to get back.
You could just have that as a self imposed rule
Hey Hello Games and fellow travelers!
I’ve been playing No Man’s Sky for a long time now and I really love the freedom, exploration, and creativity it offers. But I wanted to share some thoughts on how the game could evolve to bring a bit more intensity and long-term engagement.
Right now, once players finish the main storyline or a new update’s content, many of us tend to stop playing until the next update drops. It would be amazing to have systems that keep the universe alive and in motion, even in between updates.
Here are some ideas I think could bring more depth:
-
Faction Wars – Let the three races (Vy'keen, Korvax, and Gek) fight for control over systems. Depending on who wins, the space stations, local economy, NPC types, and planetary presence could change. Players could take part in these wars or influence them through missions.
-
More Dangerous Worlds – Some planets feel too peaceful. It would be great to have more aggressive environments, especially in late game. Infected planets are a great step, but adding new alien threats or mutated fauna could make exploration more intense.
-
Revamp Multiplayer – Multiplayer still feels a bit clunky. Joining friends and exploring together could be much smoother. More shared progression, easier party systems, and less lag would really improve the experience.
-
Persistent Universe Events – Like Helldivers 2-style global progress. Maybe factions fight over entire regions of the galaxy and the whole community can push for control. This would give a reason to keep logging in and participating.
I say all this with huge respect for everything you've built. The game has come so far, and I know these ideas are big – but I really think they could take No Man’s Sky to the next level for both new players and veterans.
Thanks for reading! 🚀
What do you think people??
Lots of good ideas. Just know that hello games doesn’t read things posted here because this is an unofficial server

Literally They can make a more Active universe if they want
They have the necesary tools
I think on foot pirate combat and more threats
Because other than sentinels which are mostly avoidable you don’t have that big of use of all these weapons
Heyy, these look really awesome but lore-wise the first point wouldn't work all that much? But I'd love to hear other takes as well.
Spoilers ahead:
The Gek of the present are descendants of the First Spawn Empire who started a massive WW2 like inter-galactic war and genocided/enslaved the Korvax. ||The Vy'keen, too tired from their perpetual war with the Sentinels were unable to intervene, causing massive bloodshed. The Korvax literally had to use their nanite blood to rewire the brains of the Gek, turning their obsession with war into an obsession with trade (hence you see them always shouting "trade with me"). So I highly doubt that after such a devastating conflict, the three races might be really reluctant to go to war over systems, since even|| relics of the First Spawn era are banned.
Instead of factional wars, I think the conflict level in the economy scanner should be expanded to actually make sense, like have the races break into civil wars or something, have our settlements be taxed or have them fight with a rival settlement that we can conquer. We already have militant groups like the Voice of Freedom in pirate systems, so HG could expand on that. Maybe some of the Vy'keen don't agree with the ideals of their hero Hirk or want to leave the warrior lifestyle to pursue something else. Some of the expedition logs mention First Spawn cultists (probably they are the neo Nazis of NMS), maybe we can fight them. There are a lot of possibilities that work within the world established by lore.
"Event Idea: The First Spawn Awakens – Civil Wars, Lore-Driven Faction Conflict"
Message:
Hey there, I had an idea that I think would expand No Man’s Sky’s universe while staying true to its lore.
What if, in a future update or expedition, we experience the return of the First Spawn’s influence? Not in the form of a galactic war between the major races, but more like internal conflicts – civil wars, splinter groups, and unrest within the factions.
For example:
Some Gek begin reverting to their old First Spawn instincts due to a corruption in the nanite programming that once changed them. This creates Gek warlords and cults that start spreading chaos.
The Korvax, in fear, begin creating experimental nanite-based “restoration” weapons to control or eliminate the rogue Gek – which leads to Korvax extremists forming.
The Vy'keen, caught in between, face a choice: intervene and stop the rise of old enemies, or let the factions deal with it themselves. This causes a split among them too.
All this sparks mini-wars across systems, with pirate Korvax, militant Gek, and divided Vy'keen forming unique encounters and missions.
Gameplay-wise, this could add:
Lore-driven missions, moral choices (support freedom or control?), and consequences that shape faction reputations.
New enemy types and faction-themed battles.
Settlements under siege, taxes from rival groups, or even secret First Spawn cultist outposts.
A growing “tension meter” per system that could lead to skirmishes, invasions, or diplomacy options.
It would feel immersive, meaningful, and exciting, without needing to break NMS’s peaceful core. Just building on the lore that’s already there.
Let me know what you think – I’d love to hear how this could be improved or expanded. Thanks for reading!
@native wave
And this?
What do you think
Community progress style faction dominance is definitely needed. Some form of meta game to keep everyone working towards something.
Hostile planets are needed too. There should be planets that constantly have superheated storms but rare materials (drop pods containing semiconductors but require acid for example). This + aggressive sentinels or infestation would be great. Not every planet should be welcoming.
But do they have the money and manpower? 🤔
Im all for more dangerous stuff if there was a way to heal up better and reduce damage taken and such. I remember starting the game out and being easily taken down without a clear way of knowing how to refill my shields or health in the middle of combat like that
We need more galactic war
Less chill things
Something that keep us playing the game after finishing the updates
I like how chill the nms universe is
Could be more combat improvements without turning the game into a race war simulator and im generally against anything that would make nms more pvp focused
There are 100s of pvp faction games out there pvp is not something the game needs to focus on
Ya they should do something personally I spend most my time hunting for stuff or base building
The combat in this game is boring and repetitive and I personally think iys the weakest part of the game (other than the exocraft sadly they just suuuuuuuck)
Exocraft suck yea
Improvements to Multiplier is another big one make it easier to play with friends or randos
Like im not against the idea of having player groups just don't want them to be a pvp thing
I think it would be cool if you could leave through the anomaly and join a random player not has part of their group but just in the same system has another player
More social interaction would be cool
In terms of multiplayer I want closed group sesions. For performance while playing only with friends.
Good change
Yeahhh this is something that is already sort of pre established in lore, in our expeditions, we already rob stuff off 'fleeing First Spawn cultists' so it is established that the nanite reprogramming did not filter down towards all the Gek. But as other people have pointed out, this is going to require quite a considerable amount of manpower and resources. But considering how much NMS has evolved since launch till now, I have considerable confidence that HG would be able to pull it off
Yknow I'd really love to see a space combat overhaul or a combat overhaul in general. Right now it hardly feels like there's any stakes. Weapons are also reaaally strong.
I think we might get a new update next month. What y’all think?
We need more storage slots for ships and a nicer menu to summon them
Storage slots as in, owning more ships, storing the actual ships
Just being able to store items within ships in cold storage would add 2k+ slots.
I feel like they should rework the vile broods a bit
Like sentinels, maybe have 3 levels of aggression, then the queen comes along, with maybe more tackle sets or more acid spits. Maybe even cause some tremors to throw you off balance a bit
There definitely should be at least some part of the vile brood that attacks you unprompted. Right now the feature feels totally disconnected from the rest of the game and underwhelming because you have to go out of your way to even spawn them
Worlds where horrors and brood-bugs were already spawned and attacked you on sight would be cool. Similar to aggro Sentinel worlds. There could even be a ruins variant where those vigilant watchacallems are patrolling around.
well, all of the world updates has to do with the procedural generation and people might have bases on them. Making any changes to the procedural generation parameters might cause unintentional changes like we have seen in previous updates like terrain being filled in, paradise planets being turned into toxic etc.
Maybe they can be on worm infested planets, the aggressive ones
HG are very careful with how they implement changes to the procedural generation so as not to 'ruin' anything too much. All the new biomes they've added since 2018 (mega exotic, swamp, volcano, gas giant, waterworld) have been implemented without being added to the existing biome pools so nothing gets rerolled. There isn't really room for 'unintended side effects' because they have pretty strong control over what's changing and know what they're doing.
Adding new enemy spawns to vile brood and ruin planets would have no effect on any other planets in the game, intentional or otherwise
Wait WHAT
I thought this was official 😭
Some Gek begin reverting to their old First Spawn instincts due to a corruption in the nanite programming that once changed them. This creates Gek warlords and cults that start spreading chaos.
So fun fact...
The First Spawn aren't actually dead, there's the "Last Spawn" Gek which mightaswell be the first Spawn Gek

Oh in that case then they should go ahead with that idea 🙂
How many years has it been since that war?? 🤔 I haven't read that much of the lore but surely it would have been quite some time
Nobody knows. It's very vague, but yeah: several thousand years ago at least.
Allow us access to "extinct species" so that we can recreate them in fossil displays.
Are you talking about the giant worms that spawn occasionally? They appear in the fauna list as "extinct," and there's already a fossil function
Combat update, both in space and on planet. Maybe living infestation creatures on planets and flying around
Maybe some space police that are like system species authority on foot
Titan worms aren't part of the fauna list. The extinct species aren't what the fossils are, either. The extinct species are from previous versions of the game that ceased to exist when the universe was refreshed during various updates. Basically, they were generated according to old schema that are defunct now and have been cut from the game. It is way more of a mechanical thing than a lore thing.
Ohh
The game marks species as extinct if they fail to generate when the planet is loaded or if the relevant creature doesn't contain the necessary data to be displayed on the discovery screen.
Whenever HG makes changes to the ecosystem generation, it causes some or all creatures on a planet to generate differently, since the game no longer has the files to generate the old versions it has no idea what they were and marks them as extinct.
There was also a period of time when titan worms were scannable as fauna, and during the Adrift expedition they were spawned as actual fauna but because they still don't have all the proper fauna data internally they have only ever showed as extinct in the discovery list
Please change the interior freighter lighting to give us more control. Currently, we get starlight in rooms with no windows. This makes it hard to control the lighting effects.
Please give us double tall rooms on the freighters. I know how to build one currently, but I don't want the outside foot sounds.
I wonder how possible it is to make it so storms can possibly roll in slowly. Imagine seeing the clouds gradually get darker, the wind starts to pick up, trees sway more and more, a distant sound of thunder that infrequently reminds you it's getting closer...
I'm not saying do this in every storm, it'd just be cool to see some storms play out longer. But again, not sure how realistic this is.
Multi tool weapon wheel, so I dont accidentally press the button one extra time and have to cycle through everything again
Isnt that just the sentinels?
But im thinking like when you get scanned by the station system and you refuse to give up whatever goods you have it "contacts system authorities" and the sentinel intercepters show up
I also could be smoking straight meth
The gek aprove your use of pure nipnip
Yeah, that but like system species with guns
the sentinels however...

that would be dope
They have so many multitool guns for, floating drones.
I want to blow some evil vykeen up
like each race could specialize in different types of weapons
korvax could focus on emp style stunning
vykeen would be more standard with maybe a small focus on range
and the gek would be the madmen rocking miniguns and artillery strikes
and yet arent the vykeen like the most helpful (to the player) race outhere? like hey took an oath to help the anomolies
Yeah but they piss me off
They made me kill an adorable creature at a monolith
And they call us pathetic
imagine, a pirate freighter warps in overhead, you see a faint glow, and boom, planetsry bombardment all around you
YES
yeah that does get on my nerves too, thats why one of my suggestions is change the dialogue based off reputation so when you prove yourself the vykeen stop calling you that
Please
and also change it based on your playermodel base, like if you choose a vykeen model vykeen dont call you interloper but maybe friend or even brother or smth, that way it would feel more natural if you want to blend in with the people of the universe
Okay also adding the parts of autophage you can’t use in the character creator
Like the wire covered body and armoured arms
as an autophage main i approve 10000%
and add more variety to the npcs, like; my body is completely unique, there is no other like it
lile bruv ive seen like 5 of that exact model IN THIS VERY CAMP
Yes that happens
I need to get a good pic of my skin ive been rocking for the past like months, it matchs my staff perfecty
Ooh, send in general and ping me
ight
yeah all the photos i have are either of the back or too dark or blurry to see the front
but yeah, i made it to match my staff which im super in love with
Nice
Ur freighter can now farm planetary deposits for resources with an orbital survey and material beam, and you expand settlements to procedurally generated cities thst require planetary harvesting material upkeep!
oh heck yeah, sign me up!!

Guys do you think No Man’s Sky will remain a live service game for the foreseeable future?
... What do you mean "remain a live service game"? It ain't a live service game now, it can be played offline
There's no indication they're going to stop what they are currently doing any time soon, though
NMS is most opposite thing to a game service i can imagine.
One time pay, no mtx , all updates/DLCs free, free crossplay/save
Shared universe that still matches up between players offline
even when HG finally shuts the servers off the community will still be going strong, sharing coords of cool discoveries
Just a small idea. I was thinking about games that would benefit from NMS's procedural terrain generation (especially the purple systems!) and the obvious candidate was Death Stranding. For those who love the delivery experience, having near infinite geographic challenges would be fun.
But then it got me thinking about how DS' gameplay could benefit NMS. I don't think it needs a whole terrain difficulty system, but if there was exocraft hauling missions on planets, that might give the exocrafts a new purpose? Instead of terrain it would be about encounters along the way like sentinel interdictions or pirate flybys, and you would have to fend them off/outmanoeuvre them to maintain the quality of the goods being delivered.
Missions could go between POIs, or be about delivering goods to/from your settlement to reduce their debt or offload the materials being produced?
And different missions could require a different exocraft? The pilgrim or roamer could be time sensitive and about speed, colossus could be about avoiding damage to the goods from falls or enemies, etc?
If the nutrient processor menu had an option to let you select items from your exosuit only like basically all other item select menus in the game instead of only having "all ingredients", "raw ingredients", "processed items", "complex dishes" that would be so nice
Maybe OP interpreted the continuous stream of updates as a sign of a live service game? Because usually once games tell their story completely, they cease to be updated all that much, except in minor bug fixes or graphics improvements, not game changing ones like Worlds.
If we contrast with a live service game such as Genshin Impact, it is also updated for free with major changes to the map and QoL features. But another example on the opposite side of the spectrum is the Train Sim World series where they release a new paid game every year (TSW 6 is expected soon officially).
Imagine a planet that’s like a junkyard, and you could find large autophage buildings, not like settlements but large structures with the powers to create new autophage and maybe get your own autophage companion for your journeys
Like a forge in a junkyard moon
Kinda like Bracca in the Bad Batch?
No clue what that is
It's a planet that's almost entirely covered in ship junkyards
Oh yes
I know now what we need for No Man's Sky!
Ability to remove some limits, e.g. bases!
Seriously, I know there are multiple places where we can't expand, but I really want to create some gigantic bases.
Like in a style of space stations.
Sounds like a really good idea. 😃 Hello Games probably put limits in so the entire surface of planets are not covered in bases and there are technical limitations.
Yeah, I assume you would really, really want to make your base even larger. I'm not a base builder, though. My bases are small, simple, single room, square or rectangular huts made of wood.
Yes, you're right. Because I really want to create some nice bases not only for myself, but for players too, inviting them there and letting them to spend some time there or use my accomodations, if they like.
Palace of All-siah in my view is gigantic construction, museum in which you can discover all about my Nexus Imperium.
We should have parts like the Star Wars B1 Battledroids and the KX Droids for the Autophage in a Future Expedition
Honestly the other races should get more Customization features rather than only the Anomaly 90% of the time
We should have the part count limit removed tbh tho
Maybe not for parts in bases, but certainly parts out of bases
Also maybe we could have the terrain editing limit removed too?
It'd be nice to have proper undeground areas
Also, Ground Combat should be added imo
At this point, I sort of suspect that the lack of ground combat vs. NPCs is a rating thing.
Can we fix this so placed items actually can touch the floor/walls of freighter rooms..? Like why does everything have to hover 3 inches off-
Like what is holding this stuff up 💀
You need to fix similar issues with many furniture items.. you try to put anything on the corner table part, it'll just float above. Nothing will sit on it and it's quite annoying
If only the devs saw this discord
Freighter customization, PvE freighter battles, freighter creation, more freighters, multiple freighters per fleet, freighter weapon upgrades, freighter interior building
We NEED this in a future update
I want new PvE events...like rifts or something where it spews out infestation and broods together fighting each other, maybe even sentinels trying to help you defend against those things
Sentinels will not help player
All creatures we see are natural spawns adhering to the rules of universe
We see the anomaly, the disruptor of the garden
They will not go against its creatures
That's why I said rifts, because they're not natural or part of the universe.
I had an idea that the Fleet that the Captial Frieghters have would be able to be used so that you get multiple bases simlar to frigates
Being able to store 100 starships in my archive and have 20 active ships
Hello Games should really make limits much more higher.
For making us more bases, for example.
But not only this, I really hope we will one day be able to have more that 1 freighter.
I think the limits are mainly to avoid bloated save files
Or a bloated game size for that matter
And base wise it takes a strain away from the game servers as a whole
Mhm
Save files size are not a problem. They barely take any space. Issue is performance and hardware/ game engine limitations.
I'd like to see more custom individual spaceship parts. Similar to the iron vulture.
unique fighter wings, solar sails, explorer cockpits etc. Could hide them in the harder derelict freighters
Thats because HG did an amazing job at optimizing them in general but I'm sure if they allowed us to have unlimited amounts of base parts especially in a offline save...
I'd love to see expanded limits for stuff tho ngl..
No. Max parts per save is 16k
Im aware
Im saying hypothetically if we could have more than that
In practice game starts to strugle even on 8k.
Yup
Thats mainly why bases have a upload limit too to save up on their servers storage usage
Considering uploaded bases are saved to the game's servers directly
Tbh those limits make it so having over 1 base is a bit unviable
I personally plan to have 3 + freighter so I'll have to do a lot of minmaxing to get it right
U can only own 1 freighter
trading for ships is called trading your ship and or credits for another ship
yeah but for other players
Used car lot, but for ships
Honestly
I feel the Starborn Runner and Iron Vulture should be teases for updates to the current proc gen parts
And in the future, the update that gives our current parts a facelift would be added after we get the Explorer, Shuttle, and Exotic Expedition ships in the new Artstyle
Necro but...
I haven't found a blue and white exotic like I've found a blue and white fighter
Exotics feel way too limited
There aren't blue + white exotics, only blue + silver
Maybe, I feel that the rare thing having a consistent design with limited yet still super there variance is nice
I just want more patterns on em tbh
I'm pretty sure it's just textures really
Shuttles are supposed to be the all rounder ship type too, but they're a bit... ugly honestly
I feel shuttles should be more like some kind of aerial exocraft, they're like a jack of all trades planetside, but they're masters of none. And out of their element in space.
Back onto exotics, I feel it's odd that the Squid Exotics exist tbh
The exotics have an set out guideline of being royal and fancy, but then the Squid one's there
The Squid Exotics remind me of an Experimental Sports car than an exotic imo
And also, the Squids typically are more colorful than their normal counterparts
I feel that generally put, we should have a bit more variation in exotics as a whole, and more parts for the "Squid" Exotics
It makes sense that they should be consistent in design with very little variation since they're supposed to be rare
But well... I feel they're a bit too limited and the current version of NMS doesn't really have a high class place that the Exotics in their current form can fit into.
NMS now is much more industrial, and the Exotics feel a bit too high class for NMS now
Imagine we getting class-based ship upgrades like how Solar has the Vesper Sails
Shuttles having a pulse booster that increase pulsing speed when activated but drains more fuel.
Haulers having a commercial transporter that let's you access the trade terminal of a space station/minor settlement/trade outpost from the landing pad itself.
Explorers having a creature locator that marks an undiscovered creature's nearby location on a planet upon being fed carbon
Fighters having a Bounty Locator that spawns a random pirate bounty.
Sentinel Ships having Spoofed Signature that can be used to scare away pirates trying to scan your ship.
Exotics having no extra features but instead having 4 "Reinforced tech slots" where any installed tech on those slots is immune to damage.
It would be really nice, but the reason they haven't added new proc parts is because they can't without it regenerating every single (non fabricated) ship. I do really hope we get to see more ships like the Iron Vulture that can be scrapped for unique usable parts though
I meant as updates to the current parts themselves, not really adding new ones.
It's a model swap so it'd be pretty easy to do anyways, and considering how they handled the Dissonant Planets and Purple Systems, I feel it'd work out if they did decide to add new proc gen parts for one reason or another.
Heck, the game has already done this as the Longnose proc gen part has been facelifted before
Oh yeah, that would work. They've done that a couple times already IIRC. NEXT totally redid almost every ship part and I think they did another pass for Beyond.
Yup, explorers got refreshed with Expeditions or somewhere around that era
I'm wondering about the staff issues too tbh
Since a lot of Staff colors can't really be accessed as of current
As for refreshing parts, HG could do that for mutltitools
The old pistols and rifles looks like some knock-off Borderlands guns
Compare that with the later additions like staves or Atlantid MTs
HG did something with staff assembly in Relics update
My mod that used this mechanic to add a bunch of colours stopped working since
I filled out a bug report but I'm sure HG has my mail blacklisted at this point
I don't think that's a feature, more likely a bug they can't address now
Same with damned titan stripes imprints on ship textures
The standard multitools are weird in their colour variation. They only come with a handful of possible colour schemes, (grey, off-white, yellow and blue, teal and orange, turquise and pink, etc). Would be nice if HG just gave them the same level of procedural paint variation that ships have because that would do wonders for helping people find unique feeling ones
Definitely
I wish the Atlantid and Sentinel MTs also had more variation too
virtually all of the Sentinel ones are the same model, and I wish that they came in different colors
Having an Blue Sentinel Rifle to match my Interceptor would be cool.
Definitely. The Interceptors have a great texture setup where they can have unique colours but also have a very good chance of just loading the traditional sentinel colour scheme instead. Reusing that exact system for the multitools would be perfect
I wish the Sentinel Multitools also were more varied
Imagine if they had the same variable geometry the interceptors had
Hell, what if we got sentinel themed staff parts too
I'm pretty sure some of the Havoc staff comes from the normal MTs
Well the Sentinel MTs are just ripped weapons from arms of Sentinel Mechs, that's why there's only 2 models of them
But yeah more variation would be nice, however it could cause a reroll of existing models
I think I'd like it if the sentinels multitool would not just copy the color schemes, but actually move and transform like the ships when they take off and land.
Would love to see a revisit to POIs on planets as the most out of date content. Most of their features have been usurped: Factory fabrication can be bought at the anomaly, observatories find crashed ships that you can now just scan for. etc.
Would love to see:
- Factories that are sprawling mini dungeons, a few rooms and defences like the ones found in derelicts if you're trying to be frugal with new content, with the terminal at the end.
- Abandoned buildings having a 'tremor' meter that fills as you make noise (walking, shooting, destroying eggs), causing a brood mother to emerge, finally giving the brood mothers more presence.
- Temples with a large elevator shaft that allows the planet to de-spawn and a derelict ship style procedural dungeon of traps and hazards (and if i'm really greedy, the tileset differing for whichever race is the dominant system one.) With a class of 'ancient class' upgrades or the atlantid style multitools as their rewards.
- Procedural ruins with a bit more variety to them, and those elementals that are around bones, that activate if you disturb the ruins.
- small outposts being a hub for missions (ideally with some better procedural ones.) They've started this a few updates ago, but it's a bandaid rather than a proper solution.
- Settlements having a mission vendor for the new and improved missions.
- Archives and Trade outposts having more quest givers with better missions.
- Pirate outposts (yes every game has camps, but what's the harm in NMS having them!) populated with turrets and things to fight, with X class loot if you reach its plunder.
- Crashed freighters having their own procedural dungeons, even if its just an overgrown variant of the derelict tileset with less mood lighting. Vines, shrubs and delapidated rooms, sunrays peaking through in holes. etc.
I think freighters need some TLC. Nothing huge, just some touch-ups to the visuals, and fixing a ton of bugs to do with collision, refiners, rooms not connecting when teleporting in, the gaps between the bridge and build area, and holes in the bridge doorway when viewed from the outside due to the freighter corridors' irregular shape
The insides of the different space station design should look different, maybe differing on the local economy type and dominant species
Also, larger planetary ruins and more variants
I still vaguely remember what the space stations look like before the orbital update
Pirate and abandoned stations still use the old design
They do look different depending on species
Oh same old and boxy
Not those ones. There was a different...look that was in between where it did feel like a hub.
Ohhh, right, I'm a new player so I always thought the old design was in the pirate station
How did they look even before that??
Mostly decor. Gek stations have loads of billboards, Korvax servers have server racks etc
Iirc you get more rusty textures etc in poorer stations but I could be wrong
Space stations and abandoned stations do use the old look from when it launched. The ones I remember when you enter and land, it had stairs, and tables. Hubs and shops were on each sides, ...It felt more wider
Wonder if I can find it
They could definitely benefit from having actually differing insides
Something like this...really hard to find since the orbital update came out
Hmm I honestly prefer the new ones, it actually looks like a busy hub with so many intricate details and moving parts
Maybe if they can implement this look with some new things along with the new space stations, might give it more variety
Most simple quality of life i want in this game....proximity chat in the anomaly
Oh, and also to maybe turn off that..auto flight that if you're too close to the ground, it just lifts you off
I want to thread the needle without slowing down and hoping it goes through
Would be an interesting feature, goated pfp btw
suggestion :
similar to multitools it would be good they make multiple buyable and switchable exosuits that has pre installed tech slots which is specialized for multiple purposes like frozen/heat/toxic hazard protection specialization combat or agility specialization. we could switch to them based on our need. their specializations also can be tied to their skins instead of them being cosmetic.
There's isn't really any point in having different types of exosuits when game allows us to have minmaxed exosuits in all stats
The specialized suits would make sense only if they came with limitations regarding the stats they weren't designed for or inventory limitations
Which won't happen considering how much people rely on max inventory slots
I wish they'd gone with procedural exosuits instead of purely cosmetic customization
unfortunately it's a choice HG can't really take back
I would like 4th sc slot for the exosuit
just wishful thinking
i think exosuit did go through some stats changes in past updates and had backlashes. but i wouldn't mind if they revamp them again for maybe a gameplay overhaul update. if its not for min max players just for casual and new player then this will be so much easy and helpful. like imagine the procedural exosuits with their name tied to specific hazard protection or couple of combined specializations. player could just have collection of exosuits and jump into an extreme ice planet and just switch to their frost protection exosuit with the procedural name : frostborn exosuit . may be they could still keep the default min max exosuits though for the ones who need it. it would take significant time to do minmaxing and its not for everyone.
I still want a weapon wheel for the multi tool
I would suggest few more points
-
monster nest / boss fauna POIs where one of the boss fauna will be awaken if we go near it its better immersion in discovering them as pois than manually summoning them anywhere.
-
Add overall planet map and regional map with poi markers getting populated as we explore and discover like in starfield
-
Divide planet as regions/continents with boundaries visible in the overall map. bind specific fauna spawning in specific regions instead of spawning them all over the planet.
make natural formations, environmental events and anomalies occur or bound in specific regions of planets like huge mountain/volcanos/valleys/ floating islands/ floating disks/ storms / rains / local hazards / cloud density/huge caverns/ (possibly mark on region map on discovery) .
This highly reward exploration instead of populating same structures all over the planets.
Wonder if they should bring back the revolution of planets and actually have them orbit the suns
I wish Hello Games implemented a proper hunger and thirst system given how food is virtually pointless to make (Since it all goes into maintaining life-support systems) and really in general focus on expanding previous established mechanics rather than make new ones
Maybe just hunger system for the survival mode. Since we have recipes out the wazoo
being a space game i wish they make the survival mechanics more starship centric like maintaining/repairing it like the bike in days gone
So true
Are there titles for bad reputation with factions/ guilds. Might be wrong channel
Nope. There are the titles for gaining standing with the Outlaws, which usually means losing standing with one or more of the races, but they don't require negative standing or anything like that.
Thank you.
I feel like NMS needs more dangers on planets. Like if you stumble onto certain areas on planets certain things will attack you. (Besides sentinels)
Creatures can attack you if you got it on high setting to allow this
This is a plain bad idea
Imagine starting a play through, navigating towards your starship only for a monster you never saw existing kill you because... Uh you set foot in such a region
There are dangers on planets and many of them are response to players actions
Like breaking bio horror eggs or coming near titan worm burrows
The scenario you described did kindaish happen during one expedition
But like with all expeds you get geared up super fast due to overly beneficial rewards for milestones
At launch, predators where much more prevalent than they are now. It wasn't that uncommon for players to start on planets that had one or more species that would attack on sight, and it wasn't really a problem back then
But that being said, there's a pretty robust system in place that blocks certain types of planets from being valid starting points, having appropriate warning on planet scan and also excluding those planets from being start locations would allow for more dangers that aren't purely reactive to be added.
Because I think a big problem with the game is that so many combat related hazards are purely reactive, which makes them basically pointless because you can simply never trigger them.
Vile Brood planets are a big example. They have a whole boss fight and everything, but if you don't go out of your way to spawn that in it might as well not be a vile brood planet at all. The planets are literally marked as such from space, so if you don't want to fight the giant bugs you can just not go to them, just like how if you don't want to fight sentinels you can not go to extreme sentinel planets.
I'd like actual farming to be added to the game
With the ability to tame creatures, but not as pets, as cattle.
And more stuff on the agricultural side
So I can just be a space rancher
Would be cool
I hope they fix up cooking a bit. More unique photos, and easier-to-navigate UI
I wish it was more worth it
I only cook to shove food in Cronus's mouth
Idk, I make about 9m in 5 minutes with certain items. And foe me it's just fun to send them to bewbie plauers at the anomaly.
Bewbie
Like irl, cooking is just a fun little thing for me to do when I don't have a goal in mind at the moment.
*newbie
It actually seems like a good idea
I got a few stacks of delicious veggie soups, I should just send them away
For me, it's fun because you know mew players have no access or understanding to food. It's a little surprise for them.
I mostly make doughnuts and salty caramel snakes. About 100-130 per item.
You just have trial/error at the cooking station.
Butt+butter makes an oil that's quite lucrative. Dough and dough makes pastry. Larval core is the primo stuff.
Nms, for me, is the ultimate adhd time killer. I just hyper focus on the mundane stuff 😆
Autocorrect is giving you hell, innit frend
German phone while typing English.
The number of times it autocorrects "have" to "habe" is just the worst.
Am i the only one who feels nms has good foundation for varied and extensive ship and on foot combat but its wasted currently?
A little bit yeah
I mean
I feel that too
Because most ship to ship combat is going around in circles, then cyclotron ballista, then rockets, and wow combat is over
And on foot combat just feels weird
The current weapons feel empty somehow, and they don't seem to make a difference with each one I use. And there's also a lack of stuff to fight, because it's mostly just sentinels, or aggressive fauna, which sucks a lot, because as a space game, we could have much more aggressive alien life forms and machines that aren't exactly sentinels.
But then we go back to this game having surprisingly not enough aliens for a space game. Like, how tf did I go through 255 galaxies and only find 3 intelligent alien life forms that aren't anomalies?
Planetary fauna is alright tho
That was kinda explained in lore how it ended with 3 races. There was more in the past.
Still
It doesn't need to be organic
Like, what about autophages? Those little robots we find on interceptor crash sites. I really wish we had more of them
But I guess that if it's lore, then it's alright. Still doesn't explain why we don't have enough planetary threats to fight tho
There are more of them
Oh
They have whole settlements now! One of the better features of the Beacon update 🙂
Whear
You can buy a autophage settlement map using void motes from an autophage terminal thing in one of their camps
Yes as Ali said you can buy maps from the terminals in autophage camps (I don't know whether you need to have had the autophage visit a settlement of yours first? I imagine not?) You can see what one looks like at the start of the beacons trailer:
Expand your planetary empire in No Man's Sky BEACON. Become Overseer of multiple planetary settlements, and discover the townships of the secretive robotic Autophage. Introducing improved settlement balance, more variety of management decisions, building upgrades, infestations, new base parts and more...including the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, a...
I wonder how feasible ringworlds would be in the skyscraper engine?
Skyscraper is the No Man's Sky engine. Also being reused for Light No Fire
From what I understand, Skyscraper has a lot of its code written specifically to handle spherical planets. Hello Games made the whole engine already so there isn't any reason they couldn't make it capable of handling ringworlds, but I don't think it has really any support for a planet that isn't a ball of terrain
Hence why gas giants are solid
I suspected it would be an issue with the fundamentals of the game, but you could always dream!
With update likely imminent, my mind goes into overdrive!
I wonder what some 'safe' speculation could be?
Imminent? Any announcements have been made?? Iirc HG keeps their cards very close to the chest
Multitool customisation.
Well kind of. Would be something for #nms-spoilers
no announcements, no. just some signals.
Ohh okay I hope we get cities in the spirit of Beacon ☺️
I wish something like Coruscant
I think that would be a tricky one to pull off in the engine!
Safer/Realistic predictions:
- Multitool Customisation of some variety. - Opening up one of the panels for a vendor on the stations?
- Update to some POI's on planets.
- An Expedition.
- Station Ownership in some form.
- Multicrew ships.
- Updates to space exploration (that is to say some existing at all.)
- Update to living ships to make them comparable to other ships.
- More Void Mother Story/lore.
- New models for older creature parts?
Imo no no need for multicrew ships. If u could "stick" to the group leader it would be enough. Something like with horse riding in RDR2 where u hold button to follow other horse.
That would be useful too. however there's some -REDACTED- things that might hint that they may be coming/HG are at least thinking about them!
again it would be a #nms-spoilers discussion!
HG is thinking and trying a lot of things. We can see that in datamined stuff
Yes, that's where this theory comes from!
But ofc until its in game, its just experimentation. so trying to mediate my expectations!
Deff dont set expectations on datamined content.
Yes. I think owning space stations is almost guaranteed at some point tho, mainly because they accidentally leaked it prematurely. So there's an expectation even in the main community that its coming eventually.
Those station override chips taunting us even years later
Owning a spacestation imo would not add anything to the game. It would end up as second settlement. I would like more space station practical features
Freighter port for upgrade and cosmetics/repair etc. restaurants/bar etc.
I agree that it wouldn't be that useful, but i think its likely to happen
What's the point of this? Do we earn units from parking fees
what I would like if they do do it, is to have (like freighters) some procedurally premade interiors
so differentiate each station from one another even if its unowned
This!!!!
