I thought about that more as an optional thing you could do if you wanted, not that that is the whole game or you are forced into pvp. Minecraft isn't a pvp game either, but there are many formats for content where players gather resources and then fight each other. For streaming and getting the game popular that would be perfect. That's what I'm thinking about here.

I have a suggestion. So I have been watching the alien franchise recently and thought it would be so cool to have like alien pathogens or parasites that can attach themselves onto your ship if you find a new building/structure on a planet called an alien crash site. It would then crawl on your ship and find a place near your base to manifest and grow, or IN your base/freighter. From there it basically grows and grows until it resembles something of the xeno-queen and lays eggs. It is up to you to try and kill the alien but your time is numbered as you need to stop it before it reaches full size. This would be S-I-C-K
That could get very annoying very fast.
It would be rare
To balance it
Out
It would still be annoying and would have to either have some great rewards or some equipment to prevent it from happening.
It would you would have to run ship diagnostics to make sure no foreign bodies are on it
That sounds even more annoying.
How many?
It had better be more than you can normally achieve in a certain amount of time.
It would be
Again, it's just a cool little idea not to be critisized but to be acknowledged
So if it takes 20 minutes to clean out it would give me, say, 20000 nanites?
I suppose I don't know
Maybe a bit less
I can make 10k-20k from 20 minutes of sentinel farming, so it had better be more than that.
suggestion: add some kind of building or feature that allows stellar extractor cores to be automatically harvested after a certain breakpoint (one perhaps set by the player)
Here's an idea for our mighty rocks :
For now, rocks are boring, theynre just the same assets over and over again.
My idea to counter this would be to procedurally-generate shapes for rock.
Basically a rock type would generate (for example one nammed "Issemite" (took the last name I saw)) , Instead of having this rock have a pre-defined assets, the game would make it a rock type and then generate randomly a shape and a size for every rock of this type (but they would have all the same color), you would be able to find a big square of Issemite, or just small rocks there and there , or any shape. Kinda like asteroids procedural generation but with more types
Ideas:
Of course - gas giants with FLYING FAUNA IN THEM
Fauna should have more intelligence - like walking around, eating plants, when it is rainy maybe hiding somewhere etc.
Batter Flora: that means more assets, FLORA CAN GENERATE REALLY BIG to add a unique planets where we feel small, better detailed textures etc.
Redesigned space stations, form outside, please.
Bounty hunting missions on players - will add adrenaline and will make gameplay more interesting, for example, the player was detected to be selling some suspicious items from black market, so you are notified about his last system location etc. And you will receive some rewards from killing him etc.
Space fight improvements, many of them, space fights should feel dynamic
Multiple crewed ships, something like millennium falcon, size between freighters and regular ships
More player pvp, in anomaly make maybe some device where players can wait for players which are willing to fight, and nexus chooses system where fights will begin
Clan system, it would be really cool
Expand multi-player max player count - from 32 to 128 maybeee (you can do this team, you have done incredible things already)
This is for now. Please those improvements will attract so many new players, so consider them.
I think we really could use multiple freighters per player now
The star harvester can mine a different resource per type star
so in the endgame you could have one freighter per star type mining in real time
And use a support freighter you can still call in to use exocrafts
while the other freighters mine resources across the stars 🤔
ALSO this is what Gas giants can do
Maybe the star extractor could mine unique resources if in a system with a gas giant?
So for those unfamiliar, these are the star / stellar extractors
I think it'd be super cool if they now added gas giants, so with gas giants present in a system you can harvest unique resources 🤔
They seem bugged for me. They dont extract anything. Timer goes down but i dont get any materials
For me only the first 3 in the room worked over night 😅
So I got about 1000 Sulphurine
but the others didn't
But I think this is a super cool idea (if I can say that myself 😇) how gas giants could work 😄
Dont need them anyway because i got my stasis device farm bases
I have bases with oxygen harvesters for sulphurine etc
but these always bug out for me and are empty 😛
I builded farms with extractors for every gas needed with 50k storage
ah the Beyond extractors?
I think these work
Yeah before Beyond you also had the portable extractors
these never worked reliable for me
Never used the portable ones :p
Soooooo... If this is 3.9, what the hell is 4.0 going to be?
hopefully the update which adds paintable ships
cause common we can paint the massive freighters but not our smaller ships
like even the collosus is bigger then most ships
Can we please get merchants on freighters? I dont want to go every time to the space station to sell modules
Hopefully exploration update, it is needed asap
i would LOVE a large scale multiplayer update
My idea for a multiplayer update are Player guilds / factions, and then you can build your own Citadel / Space Base that's shared with your guild inside the anomaly
so you'd basically get an instance in the anomaly which is unique for your current guild
which is somewhat like a Freighter base I suppose, but shared between your guild
Nice
Hopefully something will come out of that
Would make a cool update
What if this terminal opened a UI with all your owned exocrafts, viewing their inventories and installing / upgrading tech from within the freighter?
Will probs suggest that
Maybe the super formulae implementation?
I sooo want to fky my freighter around now
I know it'll probably never happen but
the super formula honestly seems like a fable to me at this point
Ok suggested the multiple freighters, and managing exos from the freighter thru that room
Whats the super formula?
A rumor that NMS had a way to do much crazier planets for exploration
but the engineer who made it, copyrighted it and then it never got into the game with copyright issues
but the copyright now elapsed, so HG can legally use it again if true and they want too
but should be taken with a grain of salt if the super formulae rumour is true to begin with
but a lot of sources mention it if you Google it, so maybe?
You have any site that i can read about this more or something?
No but you find plenty if you Google NMS super formulae
I just googled it
I did know what it was
Just not the name lol
I hope it gets implemented if its true
Also suggested my gas giants idea to the Zendesk 😛
What is the gas giant idea?
Add gas giants mostly cosmetically to star systems like asteroids
BUT
with the Stellar extractor from the Endurance update in a freighter
you can harvest unique resources from them
This thing automatically harvests either of the 4 resources depending on the star color the freighter is parked in
So being in a Gas Giant system would add a unique resource being harvested from them 🙂
Tbh the extractor doesnt seem to be very worth it
Is there an option to collect them simutaniously or is it only one by one?
One by one, but can build as many as you like
i kinda wish this game would allow you to name your save files, it would help with organizing them so much especially when i wanna clean up some old saves so i dont delete the wrong one
did you Zendesk this yet?
no im goin to after i finish eating
i submitted a zendesk ticket
Nice
Idk if its just me but I think that having the ability to soundproof a room would be amazing. Slightly annoying that I hear the roar of my miners on my freighter all the way through multiple walls/doors into my other rooms
I think in general the sounds of the new rooms are all to loud and could be lessened a bit 😅
Remember pepole. you can send NMS ideas and feedback on the same zendesk site as bugs reports ;)
I know, ive been doing that
yea i have i just tend to forget
animals on freighters
just have a customisable room type you can put them in
maybe even a shallow pool type room for fish
I want my petting zoo gosh darn it
I want gek to be able to wear the gek helmet
Did Hello Games ever mention if we will be able to paint our ships in the future? Since we can paint our freighters?
I kinda want to be able to build an "exocraft bay" on my freighter that has static versions of each exocraft in it
first person animations for rifles, unless they already exist
yeah
in first person last i checked you hold rifles with just one hand, theres no unique animations for that
something like that
In one of first trailers there was a planet with only floating islands. I think gas giants in NMS should look like this.
All of player who are still holding on will notice that the version number is approaching 4.0, and given our past experience, we have reason to believe that this will be an amazing change.
Personally, I'd prefer a custom system, like allowing ships/vehicles/cargoes to be truly customizable, but any other improvements like visuals or planetary exploration or space combat would be perfectly acceptable of me.
I saw a nice survey template a few months ago, maybe I can use it and see if we players have changed their opinion after the last few updates.
What's your think of NMS next Big update direction is you want most:
【space battle/exploration
】
【ground exploration (terrain/flora and fauna)
】
【coop or online content/expedition
】
【economic system/trade market
】
【faction/NPC interaction
】
【custom content
】
【buildings, produce and farms
】
【main story plot
】
🍔
I want to tick everything 😅
Maybe a good one would also be a toggle to turn off radio broadcasts from npcs, like frigates
Indeed
If not multiple we should be able to switch the layout so you can build a new base and switch back if you dont like it
i want immersion improvements really
and I came up with a lot
make underwater drain your life support and moons your cold hazardous protection, make your life support drain when you're not moving too, make hazardous factors drain your shield gradually instead of distinct hits as if you're getting kicked, stop your starship from tagging along with you unexplained, add bigger teleporters which would be necessary for warping between galaxies (and which you would use to bring your starship with you when teleporting), add custom video and audio effects to living ships, add a really distinct video effect for using teleporters and portals in comparison to hyper jumping, make it possible to make hyper jump in ship in 1st person
it unfortunately doesn't seem like something which would be the point of a big update, but I can still hope
Underwater already drains oxygen, and if you do that it ruins the oxygen rerouted
Rerouter
it drains it from your hazardous protection, not life support
it makes no sense
it makes no sense that you use your life support from beginning on moons (cause it generates oxygen) but underwarer you use something else
it makes no sense that you're using your life support more on the moons than on some other hazardous planets considering you breath the same.
Instead moons actually should drain you cold hazardous prorection a lot since they're, duh, really cold - similar to derelict freighters
and it makes no sense that you're not draining your life support when you're not moving. You're still breathing
all of this should also go to immersion improvements, because this just mildly breaks logic and lowers down immersion into this sci-fi world
I’m not saying it’s a bad idea, I agree but then the oxygen rerouter tech would be rendered kinda bad because how it works it uses life support when you are out of oxygen and if it’s already draining then it’s not good for it
well, it really doesn't make sense as of now
even if, at worst, it gets removed, it's not that bad outcome really
but it can also be reworked into something different
Maybe, yeah
What do you mean by “bigger teleporter” if you can warp to different galaxies via the regular portal
such as: underwater pressure drains your life support faster since it's also used to rebalance inner pressure; so you can install an upgrade tech that would process carbon dioxide (or any other gas your species exhale) for breathing again, thus improving your life support system sufficiency underwater
and by the way i came up with this mechanic by an example of rebreather from subnautica
yeah, and I feel like that's a bit of overstretch
The galaxies are, like, really far from each other. But yet as soon as you get to the new one you can use these small teleporters to come through that enormous distance just as easy as between systems.
So I thought it would be fair if players would need to at least build a bigger version of teleporter which would be able to connect to teleportation networks from other galaxies.
It would use more advanced material, showing you need to be more advanced in the game to build it.
And it also nicely ties with my idea of stopping tying your starship to you wherever you go - it doesn't just spawn itself like in a sandbox if you use a teleporter, but you can use that bigger one to fly your ship through it and bring it along with you
Like the big anomaly teleporter
Uh-huh, like that one for example
it would also tie in nicely that the anomaly has intergalactic teleporter in it, unlike space stations
It should have a mechanical portal system, or something like that, considering that it already seems to have a portal pedestal and all
considering how different the freighter refiner is from the large refiner, it might be nice if it could did some different things, either by being 3 refiners in one, or by being faster
makes sense
It seems unquestionably more advanced than the base version
we still don't really have any speed upgrades for refiners and this could be one
and let's not forget the freighter version now costs a (unfairly difficult to get) salvaged frigate module
For the 3 refiners bit, basically have it so that each terminal is a separate refiner, or by putting it all in the same UI
Well, non-modded anyway, and it doesn't help that if the base unloads, the internal inventory resets
So you can't leave it running overnight, the game has to be active
lmao yeah, that's actually wild
i mean it's probably because no man's sky seems to have something against local item storages
or automation/bulk processing
though..
nah, they made support for ore and gas extractors, so I guess they could as well make it for refiners, at least the ones put on your base
At that point, may as well have it so that you can hook refiners up to the same supply pipe, and automate a recipe for supply depots
hmm...
well, I guess that would be quite a needed addition for survival players
those stack sizes make me cry when refining
on a side note, so does the quantity selector for the refiner
Nothing like holding down the mouse button for 5 minutes because you want to refine 10 of something, rather than 1000
What if they add technology slots to exocrafts?
My Minotaur inventory is all tech slots but 3 lol
The frigates you call back and repair if they suffer critical damage still have old / legacy interior and corridors, would be nice to have that updated
i want actualy negotiate the ship price instead of checking the price and buy it or just pay the diffrence.
Artifacts being placeable objects (procedurally generated of course) would increase their gameplay value a lot more
Have you reported that on the ZenDesk?
So I noticed that of the upcoming quicksilver rewards 7 of them are just different types of grass, update to flora (and potentially planetary generation) confirmed?
Upcoming qs rewards? Datamined?
Oh the companion app?
I thought the big cranes in the revamped freighter dock was kinda hint to a ship customization feel
!mobileapplink
Do you have this?
Oooh they look cool
I agree, they also seem much more distinct than what is genned currently imo
Yeah, new types of grass would be great
I'm hoping this is confirmation of an update to flora generation, much needed I feel
I think we only have two on paradise planets
Not only would that be great, it might keep the proc gen guy quiet for a bit lol
Yeah and usually we have two different identical bushes in different colors lol
I got a hecka suggestion: HATS
A flora update is definitely needed
Data display unit build piece looks incredible, I love it
It better have a flat hitbox so I can put posters on it
And the flaming barrel, finally!!
The more I've been thinking about it, unless they add new types of planets, they should be able to update the procgen for flora and fauna and whatnot without resetting anything
Didn’t they do a flora overhaul with NextGen?
I'm fairly confident they could reset the undiscovered planets by regenerating the seeds without touching discovered planets
And again with synthesis and origins yeah
If they needed to do a reset
Navigation archive looks... Different
The jellyfish is cool though
It would just depend on if the update to add new planet types would need to change anything on existing planets for any reason
I think a “flora” update alone probably wouldn’t have that wow factor. So hopefully it’s flora and fauna or something
And we get 4 posters this time, awesome
Probably wouldn't
I love the posters and sadly the new freighter halls made hanging them almost impossible! Lol
I think this whole idea of a reset can be easily avoided while still adding the features
Posters were a great addition
I would love to eventually see an update where planets are more diverse on an individual level, like having a jungle on one part of the planet and a desert in a different part, that would absolutely require a reset and I feel like it's inevitable but probably not soon
I don't mind having single biome planets
Otherwise you've got everything in one place, which would somewhat kill exploration imo
I don't mind it either but if we had like 32 different biomes instead of like 8 then it would be awesome and you would only have a few biomes on each planet
But that's why I say it wouldn't be anytime soon lol
Maybe like 20 regular and like 12 anomalous? Given time I could probably think of that many unique biomes
Agreed, maybe the cross biomes could count as separate biomes to prevent Interference with existing planets
Also because if its random, hot and cold mix planets don't really work
Cold at the poles and hot around the equator? Could work
Yeah, definitely could
I would quite like to sit atop a grassy paradise mountain and look across a flat, expansive desert, so abrupt biome changes would be good to
I think the way we get there though is by slowly adding more and more planet types and then one day resetting to mix them all up into cross biome planets
Maybe for the 10 year anniversary lol
Perhaps
But I'm still firmly against a reset
If there's any way to not alter existing planets, we should do that
I'm not against it honestly, I just think that it would have to be absolutely necessary in order to justify it
I think eventually this game will be so ridiculously complex that only vets like us will fully understand what's going on with updates lol
I couldn't justify that to myself tbh, the amount of time I've spent on my builds is depressingly high
I always like to think how nms will be when the devs consider it finished, 20TB with a brand new feature every system
Although it won't get to that point lmao
With the way the game is set up being a literal entire universe, I can't imagine there would ever be a time that they "run out of ideas" honestly, there's always something new that can be added
I mean, we're only 4 years away from 10 years of updates and I cannot begin to imagine they'll be done by then
In a hundred years when Sean's brain is preserved in a tank of brine, a robot dev will click the update idea button and that'll be what 10372.38 is
And this time xbox will get it first!
I could see 4.0 being inspired by The Outer Wilds. That would be awesome. Shattered planets and stuff
I'd definitely like to see multi-biome worlds with different kinds of fauna in each.
I think some super unique and rare planet features like that would be cool
Give you a reason to hop around a whole planet to zoology hunt.
Ever since the clone wars arc in the citadel, shattered planets and things like that are on my wish list
@mental jacinth yea I saw the devs said they focused on biomes per planet to have a reason to explore the galaxy
But truly I have wanted that
Oh shid. Another gek friend.
Well, I mean more a reason of having the basic biology and framework of a planet and then you can just modify the climate based on angle from the sun and a precipitation map.
That way it's not like you have every biome on one planet.
But variations of existing biomes.
I mean even as is I get super focused on planets sometimes haha I’ve travelled kinda far in my 250+ hours but yeah I kinda go where the wind takes me
A frozen world might have a taiga biome, a tundra biome, frozen lakes, etc.
Yeah kinda like an Elite Dangerous approach
I’ve kinda seen NMS as a more accessible “pop” version of Elite Dangerous
NMS is focused on exploration and creativity. But I wouldn't mind a melee combat update. Lol.
Gimme a laser sword.
Similar approach with the updates and universe sim. Main difference is Elite is in our universe and NMS is it’s own thing
A science and research update would be cool too.
Anyone remember the mobile games "Alchemy"? Where you combined random elements to create more complex reactions and reagents that evolved into even more? Yeah, that would be cool.
Maybe add that alongside an industry update where you can have big manufacturing plants going, but you now need to do resource management not only on input materials, but manage the waste products.
In before that's literally just adding Factorio into NMS.
Lol.
That’s basically refining tho
Yes more complex automation
Shattered like the Minecraft farlands? Or shattered savannah?
I want more variation, let the planets breath a little, planets with water and the only terrain is floating islands, multiple layers of plautos, a planet with great flatland and also huge mountain ranges, the tech is there but the planets generate too strictly to the rules
mmore indepth trading between systems to encourage growth in the system, like trading basic resources between systems result in more lucrative trading opportunities in other resources
The level of procgen complexity in the new NPC freighters makes me think they could make some pretty nice large procgen ground structures and dungeons if they wanted to...
I do wish we could enter the world of glass in the future
A tiny but neat feature I just though of was to see your mileage on individual ships
i really love no mans sky, its really near and dear to my heart as an amazing space exploration game. but please please please optimize the game, i have an rtx 3060 graphics card and 16 gig ram, yet sometimes the game will barely run at 50 fps. and dont even get me started on the vr version, probably get 20 fps there if im lucky at all. either way its a nice way to go if i want a headache lol. if my pc is able to run a top of the line vr game like half life alyx without much issue, it shouldnt be impossible to ask for atleast smoother fps in nms no?
it isnt too bad if im in my starship out in space, but hoo boy the moment i go into the anomaly or my freighter does my fps drop
Shattered as in actually shattered
Broken apart
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Suggestion goes there
@hollow sleet
We gotta pump in HG some ideas so updates will keep em coming.
Combat Scenarios against factions or space battles - anomaly pvp ques
"Queue"
Petition to show navigation data in the cartographer's menu.
My biggest thing is planets are still too similar I think we need one more really big proc gen update!
That too!
yeah, they already added more variety at one point but it still feels too similar, maybe that's just because we played unreasonable hours though, proc gen has limits... maybe they need a different kind of variety, like minecraft. The biomes are all the same but they connect in a way that feels special somehow.
And what does the space station override do?
Nothing atm, most assume that’ll eventually be a way in taking control over a space station.
Speed up the door animation in the space stations. After all this time, they're still too slow.
Next update should focus on polishing, bug fixes, patches, and QoL
Agreed. I sent that suggestion on Zendesk once.
space battles between pirates, sentinels, and freighters should be more complex and unpredictable.
Ocean biome update and a forest update.
Give us really big, deep oceans to explore the abyssal depths of.
And then give us forests that are dense with foliage and true jungles.
And then add predators that stalk and hunt.
Wham-bam.
I'll take my check now, Sean.
who knows what 4.0 could bring!
Kind of wish, ship customization was in the game, would have created a cool hauler ship, but I got the ones I like, it would be cool if you could have more than one freighter,
It would ruin ship hunting, but you could create a workaround
Do you think that 4.0 will reset or add new universes? Yes/no
The theme of NMS 3.0 is to add more kinds of ground and planets, but maybe 4.0 will focus on other aspects
Dear Sean, please fix ships not aligning to the landing pads; they’re all floating a foot above ground. I think it’s gotten worse in this update
I feel like Portals could have some kind of rework. I was looking at the old trailer. Made me think of a setup where you could enter through different mini portals, and end up on worlds in a different way.
I found it interesting that there was the big portal structure. and there were a bunch of mini portals all around it.
Maybe a way to enter different dimensions? Idk throwing some crazy ideas out there.
Also something with mineral variations. Have the crystals, take different shapes.
All this talk of V4.0 in the #NoMansSky community right now .... imagine if Sean pulls the ultimate troll and V4.0 ends up being just a small bug fix patch or something! 😂
What happens when the universe resets, is it just the universe or is it your ships and your progression aswell
Just the universe. You keep all your personal gear like ships or progression, but presumably bases would go this time because of the nature of free building. We haven't had a major universal reset since Next, after all, and that's definitely on purpose
Thank god, if i lose all my stuff id definitely just quit
I think most would find it demoralising, for sure!!
I wouldn't worry about a major reset though, not even Origins did that, and that was probably the best chance we've had for a reset in years 😔
Ive lost a diamond pick in a minecraft world and called it quits lol
there is a few glitches where when you restart the universe you could lose your current starship and it resets to a starter ship
also sometimes you glitch out your tool and could lose it
Capital Freighters should have a second hangar bay on the underside of the ship, along with the opportunity to access the entire ship that you see outside. As in front to back, you’re practically going to be walking around a city. Teleport terminal locations would be a must, with location choice.
As for the extra hangar bay, it would also allow users to own an additional five starships.
—————
Covered hangar bay buildings for bases would be great! Instead of landing pads, why not give the option to have an indoor hangar bay that fits up to five starships, and has automatic docking/takeoff procedures like the freighter hangar bay? Only single door, armored, and also snapable with base parts!
Also, add customizable or varied laser cannon turrets for bases to fight off sentinels, pirates, or other players.
add stairs back for freighters?
This is the most requested thing I see on Discord, Reddit and Twitter tbh
You'd think they would know we didn't have stairs
I'd like to see settlements expanded and you can actually build your space empire. Go to war with the locals in a system and kick them out. Expand big capital ship space battles.
Is the new community expedition active? I see that theres rewards for the new expo in the quick silver store
+1 and also more than 1 settlement at a time.
You could use the frigate command center to send your navy on missions to secure outposts or quell insurrections. I mean just go full Empire with it.
Lol
And can I use my old expo save to play the new expo?
um, you know you can press c to decrease amount of item you hold by two times? that brings you to 10 very quickly
sorry for the late response tho
Not in the refiner, as far as I know
That only works for item stacks
For refiners, you have to manually twiddle the recipe still
You have to make new save each expedition
Expedition will start probably after twich drops end.
btw I support the idea of wider customization for the playermodel
wdym? are you talking about choosing how much of an item you put in the slot for further refining?
I can absolutely use halve key when doing that
No, I mean when choosing how much of a given recipe you want on the right
their original idea of portals (as explained by Sean in interviews back then) was that it would take you to dangerous worlds for basically grab-n-dash missions. the galaxy at that time was a linear progression, so that the outer rim where people start was the most chill, and as you travelled towards the center things would get more weird and more dangerous. so portals jumped you further towards the center, but they were hostile places you probably wouldn't be able to survive long on. don't know why they they gave up on all that
Couldn't make it more dangerous without making it impossible, maybe?
I really wish we had Exotic Frigates and Freighters to find. One thing I was disappointed with the Endurance Update. I know it's bad to complain or wish for things but yeah.
Either that, or it would be very boring
As soon as you went past a certain distance from the galactic core, the danger would effectively cap out
Topic Settlements
Wild take but:
It would be really cool if we could turn off the plants (grass and stuff) inside the Settlements. In addition, it would be cool if we could change the soil in the area of the settlement, or if we could draw roads. That would make the settlements look a lot more like cities.
What do u think?
It's a neat idea, and could definitely go on the long list of things that the settlements need
well, i'm assuming back then that upgrades were gated to how far out you travelled. so portaling to a closer world could be a way to gain more advanced tech earlier, but with risks
Finally found an ocean that was deep enough to build a decent underwater base in.
But now it makes me wish for super deep abysmal depths.
Abyssal
Autocorrect
I'd also love to have some damn turrets/defenses for my settlements when Raiders attack and Sentienels attack, hell defense installations for my own houses and bases too.
yeah I would like pirate gangs to attack from the ground, and have us be able to build defenses. the air attacks get really annoying after a while
I think freighters should have a add-on to the hanger bay a fighter bay so when your freighter is attacked your crew can get in a fighter and defend your freighter
Isn't that basically the squadron/combat frigate system?
Yeah, they are, so much of the time
Whenever I get attacked by pirates, I've usually destroyed them before the frigate gets there lol
It probably doesn't help that you're usually attacked either by a small handful of pirates, or small waves of pirates in a swarm
and the gap in the swarm is long enough that the frigate and squadron leave
It's not as though there's a horde of pirates descending on you that you have to do battle with, or a pirate freighter
i don’t know, but if the question was “do you want”, i’d answer yes
because that would mean they have changes big enough for a universe regeneration
it sure did add a good amount of new things to see, but I have to say they were quite shallow otherwise. I hope 4.0 will flesh these features out further and make exploration deeper overall
Hello games could easily pull inspiration from games like Subnautica, Journey to the Savage Planet and Starlink Battle For Atlas in terms of exploration and creature discovery
I’ve enjoyed NMS since launch, but something has always felt missing from scanning flora and fauna and it has pretty much been one of the features left untouched
it would be nice to be able to customise living ships maybe, since its so annoying to get new ones
Or just ships in general
ships are tools to get from point a to point b, to explore, and exploration is lacking tbh ngl
true
Although we also spend a lot of time looking at them, so making them look nice would also be preferable
i want a junk ship
something made of scraps that falls apart over time
the ships do look nice though
Jet pack attached to a hyperdrive, and parts of derelict freighter
they look wayyyy better than at launch
only thing i’m surprised HG haven’t added regarding ships are multicrew ships
Some freighter building feedback:
The freighter building area should be made much more free.
I deleted all the freighter modules in my freighter and yet I couldn't build starting from the freighter's door, only from some floating door that somehow didn't get deleted (please allow us to delete the static door and build directly from the freighter door at the back of the bridge)
Other than that, the freighter build area needs to be expanded. I built a corridor and accidentally blocked my path directly in front of the bridge door. I can't destroy it or rotate it because I have to stand inside its borders to build at all.
I think a better solution for both these problems is that after you buy or claim a freighter, the captain you bought/claimed it from asks you if you would like a blank slate to work with, and if you say no the freighter is kept as is with its natural look, if you say yes it resets to just a 3x3x2 (lxwxh) chunk of corridors so you can easily add to it.
How about a way to really make your own ship
Also that does sound very neat
I guess that would defeat the purpose of ship hunting tho. If you could just build your own ships from scratch.
Next update should be a total edit and renewed world gen like more realistic
aren't you still allowed to build up vertically as many floors as you want? or did they take that out
it’ll come sooner or later in one form or another. people really want ship customization
no im locked inside my ship
there's a freighter corridor that's in the way
i can't rotate it bc im technically standing inside it's borders
even though im inside the ship
yikes. is it possible to build a teleporter where you are?
other ways to get quicksilver, or add more interesting missions to the nexus. been trying to get fun stuff to add to my base but doing dousins on dousins of the same quests kinda drains you, if i had the ability to exchange units or nanites into quicksilver that would be a big help
Combat scenarios (space wars or land wars) and/or pvp ques in the anomaly that spawn you somewhere to keep you away from people who only want pve
I just want the settlements to have no grass around them except maybe some garden areas.
It seriously immersion breaking that there's houses separated by super tall grass and flowers everywhere with no pathing
Its really pretty dumb that on low gravity planets you take the same fall damage as anywhere else. It would not be a hard code edit. I hope this gets updated to make low-g planets more appealing to live on
Laylaps regularly scans things like normal Sentinels. What if we would autonomously discover what Laylaps scans if undiscovered?
Fun fact, the only reason I don't take out Laylaps is cause the HUD keeps telling me that a hostile sentinel is near by
wonder if well get an option to mod exocrafts in the freighter, like a new hangar or a room, that way i dont have to go to a planet everytime
I think the settlements have much bigger issues than what the grass looks like. They offer no sense of the settlers being distinct personalities. They should have been like Animal Crossing towns, but instead they are just superficial aesthetic built on top of mobile timer mechanics.
the game would have been better without settlements than it is now in its current form.
Animal crossing towns in NMS would be fucking dope.
was hoping for a more Fallout style settlement system
I’m sure HG will improve it down the line sometime
but i kinda tire of these shallow features being added, then everyone hopes for overhaul after overhaul
it’s cool they strive to release content every couple months, but it’s also not such a great thing for the content they release.
multiplayer ships would be cool, maybe they could add it to freighters or maybe it could be a rework of the frigates but I imagine it like this:
You and a few friends are in control of your ship (Star Trek style) and you have a captain, pilot, gunner, mechanic etc.
These would all be multiplayer roles and you could rock around the galaxy with pals. A way to do it single player would be great too
I think it's sort of a problem that afaik they've never had an actual Game Designer at the company, it's just a bunch of engineers and artists trying to figure out the gameplay mechanics. And I agree that they always prioritize what gets a feature out the door fast, which makes it look like they are always delivering something great but it's always a bit superficial
I mean there is a “game designer” and defacto afaik it’s Sean. Someone has final say and had the initial seed of the idea :p
A bunch of “engineers and artists” isn’t a bad thing, and ultimately every game designer was once an engineer and/or artist at some point.
They are building on the same basic framework, and while some of the updates are “superficial” at it’s core it’s similar to the space games of old: exploring/trading/fighting.
Historically yes, but these days a lot of game designers graduate with that kind of focus and they're not really programmers or artists. I don't actually think Sean has much hands-on game design focus with NMS at this point, I think the head honchos at HG are focused on their new game now. And I only point out the Game Design aspect because there's been a lot of features that were just built really badly and then eventually they would get overhauled or replaced. It feels like not much thought is put into certain features
A lot of the literally superficial stuff is welcome af though. Prettier graphics, base building, customization, structural placement (asteroids).
I would imagine there’s probably a team assigned to each area, like derelicts was probably a whole team that focused just on that aspect. Cooking as well.
Those teams are probably all “pros” in their specific corner, which is why things can get wonky and bugs show up most where stuff overlaps.
Also Sean is a cofounder of Hello Games so he is one of the head honchos.
The designer credited according to Wikipedia is Gareth Bourn
By superficial I meant features that should have more depth, but end up feeling very shallow in terms of gameplay mechanics, such as the settlements
I know that Sean is a cofounder. Which is probably why he's working on their new game now, and they're leaving a separate team to handle NMS
Yeah it’s similar to a common critique of Elite. Games as Service have this structure though where the depth comes over time. It’s a form of early access and community game design
not saying that’s the best idea, but with something as large in scope as NMS or Elite it makes it much more possible. Otherwise you need to build like crazy capital beforehand and it will probably die in development hell
If the NMS we have now was released at launch it would’ve been mind blowing, and that’s what the promising trailer essentially showed.
It also probably would’ve died before it ever came out, considering how long it’s taken to get it to where it is now.
sounds about right
I'm just saying on a feature level, at this point, with a nice amount of money in the bank, they should spend more time to do a feature right the first time. HG is very good at technical improvements, but they don't sweat the details when it comes to game design very often. Or their priority is just on making people log in every day rather than on figuring out a way within the gameplay mechanics to make people do that naturally
less mobile timers, more exploration surprises
that being said, I thought they did a good job with the ground combat overhaul (even though I hate the Sentinels as an enemy). and they did a pretty good job with the derelicts. so they can do some good game design when they want to
Maybe we need to report that in the Zendesk
with Derelicts being one of the strongest features in the game, i still think they could add some more enemy variety to them. Some larger, more difficult enemies you can hear on different floors
Better this way, than spend a year only on the settlements, then letdown if players didn't want it. If it's good they can choose to spend more time later on.
I would love to see them take that Derelicts design and make other dungeon spaces based on them, like cave systems, pirate bases, etc
I would appreciate the integrity of the developers who put more time and attention into the details of each update rather than how they may do it now to please the players quickly
yep i think it’ll lead to planetary dungeons
would be cool in caves as well
I may be wrong, but it also feels to me like they improved their proc gen for building interiors with this freighter update, some of the NPC freighters I've seen are quite complex
Yeah. I was hoping for a big alien at the end of derelict freighters. Or something that is stuck to the wall and is just this eldritch monstrosity.
i gotta check out more npc freighter bases. this is one thing i’ve hoped for with NPCs and bases on planets. Imagine all of the base building parts in a procedural pool that would generate on planets for NPCs
That sounds pretty epic
would be good incentive to explore on foot more often
Yeah. I mean an idea for the Planet dungeons, sounds pretty simple. Just use ruins. And then add enemies from there.
And add rewards an such
the ruins realllllly need an overhaul at this point, still using the limited parts from 1.0
yes much potential there
Question. Did the sentinels update make it so that the big walkers have a better spawn? Meaning. I remember from one of the trailers. One of them was dormant. Sitting on a planet. And then became activated.
i've never seen a dormant walker, good question. though wouldn't be the first time a trailer showed features before they're released
well way back in the day i remember there were some dormant walkers at sentinel factories i think...
I think it would be pretty cool seeing a sentinel ship, drop off walkers. Or just being on a high alert sentinel planet. And seeing dormant walkers scattered. Just to add more to the immersion.
That would be cool instead of them just appearing out of nowhere
Can i please get incoming storm looking something like this?
In cold planets add ice rocks hitting you
In hot planets add flames etc.
There is flames with firestorms
if they did this, i would hope they’d make storms local as well
Then maybe add super exterme temp. Like 1500°C that kills you fast if not in cave/exocraft/base
Archaeology Overhaul Concept

Google Docs
Archaeology Overhaul Concept No Man's Sky Content Update Concept ─ Introduction Archaeology in its current state is interesting, but feels like a bare-bones (pun intended) concept that could be expanded on. Implementing the following ideas would make archaeology a much more interesting and lucr...
that's maybe a little too extreme, you'd have mere seconds to get to safety
You need seconds to dig a hole anyways
Or summon a ship
Thats what extreme planets are for. Bigger challenge and risks
Is the main story basically done? Or do we think that they will add more?
we keep hoping they will...
What if they let us purchase past Expedition Rewards but for really high amounts of quicksilver
How about both
why dont they just give me the stuff if i ask very nicely
What if we can set prioritize Rewards on expeditions that would probably make getting dream area for people without the Leviathan a lot more possible
I just don't like timegated stuff
I wan some of the rare trade items to be able to be used as decorations in a base
imagine if someone can invent a laser brush/paint tool 😮
hope they add more ship parts and assets in the pool for more combinations and variety
anyone else think that it would be nice if inhabited systems were rarer? not concentrated in one place like elite but if there were large uninhabited areas of the galaxy and inhabited areas got busier the deeper into them you go
similar to how asteroid fields are post-endurance but on a galactic scale
could also have more separation between korvax/gek/vy'keen controlled systems
Did u know that u could Cover the whole area with plates? It's not the same but it fixes the foliage problem u're talking about.
Do you think it's possible for them to put in unused assets? Like things from the early trailers.
Like this
That very much exists in the game already.
Yeah its on one of rhe ancient ruins
I know I know that is a huge one.
But imagine. There would be a mechanic in pirate-systems if u attack ships on one point a Cruiser jumps in hot. With 3-4 fregattas as support. U have to fight all of them (best in a team). If the Criuser/Fraighter is down, u have to enter the ship, just like the abandoned Fraighter jet. Goal is the bridge. When it's done u get a nice reward. Nothing to fancy maybe some nanites or something like that. I think it would be cool to have some harder longer tasks/missions. Also most of the mechanics pretty much exist, so it's huge but not totally unrealistic.
Since every update has been focused on overhauling existing features instead of adding new shallow stuff.. I hope HG will eventually get around to overhauling the standing system to where it actually matters
Yes I mean we have pretty cool stuff but I also think improving existing mechanics is a good very welcoming thing for me :D
Oh right. Duh. Forgot lol. I guess it just looks odd to me. Seeing them, just seemingly not on typical ruins. Seems like they are more scattered.
But yes. I agree, I want the standing system to matter more.
discounts for items or ships if you have a high standing with that alien
add stairs back to freighters
^
Apropos stairs I wish there were ladders for the "normal" basebuilding. I mean it would if we could place ladders on walls etc.
I've tried usingladders and on more than 2 levels they are a complete pain in the ass, did they at least fix that before screwing up freighters?
not on topic but a vykeen helmet to go with the gek and korvax ones would be cool
I wish the leaked elevator made it to the update. Feels like they had trouble with it and compromised with ladders.
I doubt they happily threw away the elevator concept
My current dream update is an overhaul to your hirable wingmen. allow them to land and explore on foot with you!
Imagine not just using teleporters.
I want flyable frigates or freighters
for me a multiplayer update bc at the moment it just seems thrown in, it isn't very fleshed out
true. nms has so much potential for multiplayer that isn't being utilized.
When the game releases on switch there should be cross-save
I don’t want to grind for everything again just to play away from home
How? It seems pretty fleshed out? You can do everything. With a friend? What else is there?
I think they mean multiplayer starships and stuff like that which would be unique to multiplayer
Like two passenger starship, one pilot, one gunner (and alone the pilot can shoot as well)
Maybe it could be a separate type of ship, Like when they added Solar Sail. a type of ship with always 2 or 3 Seat/cockpit
Or just a freighter that can move? And players can control guns
I hope they do a cave update soon. Underground creepy crawlies, tentacles and stuff. Some eldritch underground beast, maybe even core of a planet kinda thing
I want caves water and mountains updates
I want deeper caves and oceans
And bigger/taller mountains with special kinds of ecosystems on them
Have you played Starbound? They had a sweet archaeology thing where you could find pieces of skeletons and then form them into placeable items for decoration! That would totally fit this game.
Yeah I made a post about this in here yesterday haha. That would be sweet
I also still want gek players to be able to wear the first spawn battle mask (the GEK head one)
Make some of the exocraft able to carry passengers
The weapons and things for companions actually doing stuff and not just being cosmetic would be great
There is multiplayer but no co-op besides kinda crappy nexus missions
Everything is co-op except missions what are you taking about
Taller mountains!?!? I had one planet with a mountain that took like 3 minutes to jetpack to the top, I think mountains are tall enough lol, if anything the mountains should form ranges with plentiful flat space in between them, but I agree
Only 3 minutes?
That's barely a hill compared to what we have here on earth
I want REAL mountains
The mountains are so fn tall already
I want some planets to have mountains that can reach several tens of thousands meters tall
Everest size mountains
I want megaflora, world trees and such
I've seen easily 200m tall trees for sure
World trees should reach Upper atmosphere
It would be cool to have some elden ring sized trees
I want DEEP oceans too, make it so I should actually need to upgrade the submarine to reach the bottom of some of them
I want some terrains to be so I need exocraft to cross them reliably
I just wish they could reverse that so we could have deep oceans...
Beat me to it @mortal quartz

I hope the stellar extractor cores you can put on your freighter can help gather Tritium and Di-Hidrogen at some point. Being able to get you ship to gather it's own fuel just seems to make sense in the grand scope of things.
But gathering tritium is already free, just a little slow
I mean both are "free" it would just be convenient. Maybe make it a second room and give my starboard side a higher industrial feel.
Maybe add a third layer to freighters, one that goes down from the main floor so my upper deck can have my captain's quarters and my upper management, mid deck would have my research, my catwalk, storage areas, and my other star trek things and have a lower deck for tech and machinery.
Let us explore our entire freighter, not just what we build
Ooooo yes. And for criminy sake let me sit at the captains chair!
Add a mechanic to our hangar that lets us customize our ship's paint finally. Add some new thruster colors. We can paint everything in this game but the dang ships
dear Sean please stop calling in the Sentinels because we happened to hit a ship or a station during a pirate fight
Not sure if i'm gonna phrase this correctly, but more 'civilian' looking helmets would be nice, a lot of the helmets look so war ready. Or just more head cosmetics in general tbh
less "aggressive" is maybe what you mean?
Prediction for 4.0: allowing you to actually complete all of the missions in your log.
Yes, none of them really look very friendly
Give me derpy or cute looking helmets
I want a hello kitty helmet
how do you suggest stuff on their zendesk?
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
ahhh tyty
no problem!
Any thoughts on revamping the electricity and logic systems to have "redstone"esque functionality?
I never have high hopes for suggesting stuff, feel like stuff always goes under radar, but hopefully this gets in
i'd kill for new headwear
honestly they've implemented several features I've sent them over the years, but yeah it's sort of a black box. but I think visual things like headwear probably has a better chance because it doesn't require as much engineering effort
what did you suggest that got added, i'm curious
Well I'm sure other people submitted similar things, but a lot of UI improvements early on after 1.0 like skippable animations, trading amount sliders etc, the ship flight model where you can use brakes to powerslide, ship combat features like shields and specialized weapons, NPCs being able to walk around the space station, dynamic missions (though they are more simplistic than what I suggested), making ship types more specialized, etc
damn, gives me hope for the helmets
bases in space
one thing that I think does help, or at least used to, is making a reddit post about it, because some of the staff does read the subreddit and that can help gain visibility and help them understand the community desire. although it can backfire if the community doesn't like the idea
sadly not a big reddit user so think that ones off the table for me
Since the update has anyone bothered datamining it to see if there's anything else in the works or hasn't been released yet? I was really hoping for some new parts to the Freighters or even an exotic-like Freighter.
check spoilers
I just realized I put my messages in the wrong channel oops
I really hope that 4.0 is a big unifier for all these little features we've been getting.
All of these gameplay loops just feed the money machine, but there's nothing really to spend your money on, and that's okay.
But having something else that connects the settlements, and the freighters to each other and to your normal gameplay loops would be nice.
I suggested the idea of an empire system. With your settlements being your industry, and your fleet being your force.
The settlement builds the fleet, and the fleets make room for more settlements.
Wish its possible to salvage and ride sentinel starships..
I agree, NMS now has a lot of little parts that are lovely but really do not affect each other. maybe need an update to tie everything together, like factions systems or other interacting mechanisms.
The idea of faction system still appeals to me, although it was be already proposed by many player, but if the three main cosmic peoples were separated, let them have their own ground base, city, preferences, armies and diplomacy. This may greatly enhance the dynamic changes of the game.
Than dominant race of one galaxy could be changed by player influence, which would be a cool change, and even if you factor in other mechanics like pirates, it would make the entire universe much more dynamic.
I've felt for a while that deeper dynamic missions, combined with much more active NPCs with their own goals and combat potential, would help. and maybe tie that into larger faction systems that control territory. they kind of teased at factions with the pirate systems but it's basically superficial and doesn't impact the global state
well, it's going to be a big change and it will take a lot of effort...but I think it's mostly a program mechanic change without requiring too many new art content, and it would be worth it if Hello Game is willing to work in this direction.
It would definitely be a big change for HG, since they currently store no persistent state information about each star system on their servers, and you would need that in order to map who controls what territory and other changes. but definitely would be cool
I have an idea for exosuit rewards based off real spacesuits. Sounds like a good idea?
sure, although it's clear that Hello Games doesn't update the in-game custom outfits very often
There isn't a lot of customization in the game, whether it's costumes or vehicle skins, it's a fact that the last costume update was on Halloween 2021.
If not in the long-term development opinion (those parts that require a lot of developer input), the best update I can come across in 4.0 would be a real customization system, including a combination of ship and cargo ship parts, of course maybe not, anyway for now We can only rely on guesswork.
I don't think adding the possibility to change the way your ship/freighter/multitool looks should be added to the game. This would make shunting for ships/freighters/multitools irrelevant and people actually find themselves enjoying it in doing so. Because there is nothing like getting your S class Fighter after 3h of reload. As for the customization now, I think is doing perfectly fine
maybe having a ship built could be an option. Not full blown customizable but, one time, costly custom build mechanic
at least color changer would be appropriate but I agree with most points that hunting is the unique experience.
is cross-progression a bad idea?
Nope. I would love a cross-progression/cross save/account system
Although it would increase their networking costs quite a bit
There is no reason why players can't assemble and modified the parts of the spaceship. In terms of game mechanics, the difference between many spaceships is some small parts. There is no reason to check the space stations of more than a dozen galaxies for this little difference.
Logically speaking, where did all the space station ships come from? Wasn't it produced by industrial assembly? Spaceships are not animals, they are industrial products, and there is no reason why players can't make their own modifications at the manufacturing plant.
All the problems are game programming, whether hello game can let this function be achieved.
I agree that it's all cosmetic, because the performance of ships in this game doesn't depend on looks.
So I dont think implementing this system is a priority over more planet types or other functional updates, but if possible, there's no reason why it shouldn't be implemented.
Searching for it and spending hours over hours is what is going to make the ship special. If everyone can just make it it wouldn't be your special ship then, would it?
They were made by different species that we barely learn the language of
It would really make ship hunting useless. The small details make the ship what it is.
They should focus on planet bioms maybe and more fictional stuff. Not ship customization and so. Shhip hunting is a thing thats why people like it because you can be a SHIP Hunter and it makes you feel special
Having different NMS classes like "Explorer", "Ship Hunter" ,"Bounty Hunter", "Trader" makes the NMS universe feel somewhat real . If everyone can be good at everything then it really defeats the whole point
Then make it so you have to find a ship with the parts you want. You scrap the ship and it gives you a choice of one part that you can safely take from it.
The paint for starships is specially made to withstand re-entry, so that can have some kind of path towards getting it or make it pretty expensive but I feel it should be a one-time purchase each time. If you can't get or afford the paint, the colors won't match unless you found a matching part or you can just store the parts for later until you get the paint.
Installing parts should take some amount of time (like waiting for car repairs) with paint taking a lot less time.
To incentivize finding ships instead of customizing them, your ship class is defined by the average class of each part.
If you take an S-Class ship and put a bunch of C-Class parts on it, the class will lower and so will the stats. Even if the class doesn't lower, if one part is a lower class, the stats will dip. So upgrading the ship class will now have the cost divided into smaller pieces to compensate for upgrading the parts themselves unless the ship is made of a single class of parts. (TL;DR All S-Class parts would be necessary to get the highest stats possible on your ship.)
Maybe have a long grind to where settlements or freighters can first create the paint and then build ships and ship parts.
Give a bit of feedback on these ideas because I think ship hunting and customizing could both exist if it's done right.
the minute differences between some ship types as it stands renders a lot of them similar enough to not matter, imo. for me, video game vehicles and guns and the like gain that "special" feeling through both discovery and usage.
my first favourite ship was a 30-odd slot fighter from 2016. it wasn't my favourite design, but i found it crashed, fixed it up and took it through until Next. a player's emotional connection to something comes from more than scarcity or uniqueness. having a bespoke ship that speaks to you could be the avenue to making that ship "special" for some, as it may motivate them to stick with it, improve it's utility, and make it their own through actual gameplay
a lot of people simply use NMSCE to get their ideal ship, especially if their ideal is one of the fan favourite styles. others get an egg and stick with whatever LS they get, 'cause they liked the mission change and "growing" their own ship, even if they result was still random. others use the customiser bot to do the work for them, and others still might just main a Golden Vector. none of these were "discovered" by the user using them, but they're all still someone's favourite. are they any less special because of it?
thoughts on starships with interiors?
Ship for 4 players could have some interiors
I think needs to be an update to multiplayer (add console chat, other QoL features), and there needs to be an overhaul of how the galaxy map is displayed (give us a cursor to point to a specific system)
I really wish they would add more to the lore. I think it would be great to use expeditions to tell current event stories about the 3 races and the factions/guilds within them instead of expeditions being personal quests
more varied gravity and weather on planets would be cool
like the iridesite log says it's used on ships to escape higher gravity planets
generally the game following item logs would be cool
Maybe having storms. Affect your ship. Be a thing?
emp bursts resulting from storms would be neat
also toggleable base damage would be amazing
like meteor storms damaging your base
yeah i'm kinda surprised space storms aren't a "hazard" at all. at the least it should be some kind of harvestable energy source
maybe they could strike your ship and damage it or send it offline temporarely
kinda like the cyclotron ballista
i think it would need some kind of risk/reward element, like maybe you could fly into them to evade Sentinels/pirates, a la Star Trek nebulas
we should be able to paint minotaur sentinel parts
How does No Man's Sky keep funded enough to regularly update their game? It's been 6 years is the influx of new players still that strong?
I tried googling this but all I find are methods to grind units in-game
Still a hugely popular game with 20k people playing every day (That's just Steam numbers). Big streamers like CohhCarnage and other big names like Notch recently frequently tweeting about the game. It wins awards all the time and is known to have one of the best comebacks for a game ever plus much much more so it gains exposure all the time.
On top of that, it's still a relatively small team with other projects too like the fairly popular award winning The Last Campfire, nowhere near as big as NMS but was a big success
More search options in the galaxy map would be helpful. Like applying several different filters at once.
Currently I'm trying to look for a G-type star with Korvax and a tier 3 economy but it takes a long time with the very basic filter features we have now
I'd love filters/search options in the teleporter menu/UI too, just having it be filtered by most recent can be a pain looking for one specific system
Yes please
I wish they would update the UI for the galaxy map. Just give us a cursor to choose a specific system.
I am on PS5
Anyone else feel like the scanner in space should show more resources than just tritium in space?
This is like if you scanned on planets and all you got was oxygen waypoints.. gotta blindly search for the other resources.
i think it's why they keep adding additional platforms. they do get new people on current platforms each update/sale but I imagine the amount of people who haven't tried NMS yet on the existing platforms is getting smaller each year
Switch and especially iPad will open up big new markets for them
Should we be worried?
https://twitter.com/NoMansSky/status/1552046986932666368?s=20&t=7bSrVwnVmCgbWNoIR5Zvgg
More fauna and flora diversity incoming with 4.0?
that would be pretty sick
Yes. You should be worried.
as long as it comes with more mechanics and depth to planetary exploration. much more diverse fauna behavior…hazardous flora that actually affects fauna…storms that affect fauna…deeper oceans that allow for much more massive underwater fauna. if they just add new flora and fauna, it’s going to feel empty.
new worldgen and terrain diversity
What would be cool but maybe a far fetch is the capability to terraform a planet in the sense of changing the climate and etc
I'd like more space battles like pirates owning a Capital ship and assaulting yours
I think it’s weird that you use up life support when you are falling or riding an animal. Because your not actually moving but LS still drains, I have a base on a planet with low gravity so I can pretty much fly around infinitely without using my jet boost that much but my life support actually drains twice as fast on this planet because of the speed of my falling
Rivers in all it's glory would make planets that much more scenic
I feel like I'm in the minority who thinks 4.0 wont be big and mostly just the Switch release
I'm happy to be wrong though
agree, I think that Endurance was the big update. but we'll see
All 3 updates this year have been much bigger than other updates, like HG changed their priorities
Though all of them docused on overhauling and tying old content together rather adding new shallow stuff
2022 seems like the best year for nms yet
It's possible, but let's take into account that NMS has actually regained traction in player community at the last two years
Oh? That's where I came in shortly after Origins but I thought nms regained players a lot sooner
hello games won't risk disappointing the player base when they regain their attention
Of course the best thing to do is to make more substantial updates over a longer period of time, not just some fast minor changes.
Maybe hello games if they have a solid long term plan, they should try to extend the interval between updates time but increase the quality of the update, I would very much welcome that.
if 4.0 is launched in 2023, I would also welcome it, as long as there is enough content.
i'd bet that hello games has a better long term plan than say cyberpunk 2077 or bf2042, but those games are both relatively young compared to nms
I think it will definitely just be the Switch release, or maybe Switch + Mac if they can time it right. If you look at Sean's actual letter for Endurance he doesn't mention "more to come this year" and basically says this is the biggest release of the year
but, they could save a 4.0 for early 2023 I guess
It definitely feels like they have a road map, each update lately feels like it's a foundation for additional content for the next update
well, this would be the best guess, but I'm still curious about what the final finished product of NMS is going to be like.
Because while the recent series of updates have been coherent, I don't see their end goal and direction being aligned and there seems to be no focus.
We've seen improvements to strengthen sentries, pirate and space combat, cargo ship building, which is all good, but it's not focused on any way
i doubt they know, either. half of the features they implement are basically community desires
it will be very hard for them to save the 4.0 numbe for next year given we are already at 3.96 with 3.97 sitting in the pipeline, heh
In fact, whether here, or on twitter or reddit, there are many larger and more specific suggestions and appeals. but in general HG is just fulfilling those small parts, so I can't fully agree with you
Oh yeah, right now I think their priority is just making all the content ingaging and giving it a purpose, as if they're addressing the "wide ocean deep puddle" criticism.
Once that's done, they might move onto exploration focused stuff and such
Anyway, my point is that if NMSs have concrete long-term goals then they have to be quiet for a while to try finish some big one, but if not, we'll see a lot of small updates but uninterrupted, both update modes have their pros and cons, and as long as NMS will not be abandoned, I have confidence in it.
the combat overhaul, the settlements, the planet variety update, those were all long-requested community wants. but of course some of what they implement is what HG wants. but I don't think they have any specific vision. they're just doing what they think is cool until they run out of stuff
In fact, HG is always can switch the way the game is updated at any time, and Sean will notice which is better.
I'm will keorek on this one, i dont think they'd keep on supporting the game for 6+ years if they didn't have a long term plan in mind
HG can start preparing for the big update tomorrow and drop the small update.
isn't a problem, as long as they feel it's worth it.
the long term plan is keep making money in order to fund other games
This doesn't affect the game's update model, even a big and successful developer like Rockstar has the same approach.
GTAol's updates are obviously not the result of a plan in advance, but they do more content with longer intervals, that's not a problem
I'm sure they're adding stuff they think is cool rather than some ultimate vision, but at least now the updates seem to build on top of one another instead of everything being so disjointed like living ship or exomech for example
i mean, you said "i don't think they'd support the game for 6 years without a long term plan" -- making money is the plan. Sean has said as much in interviews. it's a business. of course they want to make a good game, but this is not culminating towards some master vision
maybe the word "long-term plan" I used was a misnomer
I real mean, "give up on quick small updates" for "big updates"
in any case, the "ultimate goal" of the NMS can all be certain that it is definitely does not exist
because in the earliest notions of NMS was "player can do anything in an infinite universe" it was an impossible goal
I feel like small vs. big is more about how features line up for release. sometimes they're able to wrap a bunch of things into one mega update and other times not. It is kind of disappointing to me when there's no big yearly release, but it's not really a reduction in content, they just spread it out
just look at star citizen, still in beta after how many years???
spreading it out makes the most sense for making money tho
you're more likely to maintain a playerbase imo
yeah, especially in this new Twitch streaming world which didn't really exist as much when NMS launched
star citizen except for the space combat system and the spacecraft system, there is no better part than NMS
Not to mention that these bastards are immersed in selling in-game ships for real money, I have completely lost faith in them
twitch wasnt as big when nms first launched, but for instance DansGaming who streamed on launch had ~12k viewers
which is a fairly sizable amount
NMS is not tainted with ingame trading and selling virtual items, which is a positive part
for sure. but I suppose what I mean is this idea of "games as a service" where you're constantly trying to lure people back in, which feeds into social streaming, wasn't as much a thing
well, the biggest downside of NMS compared to Star Citizen or Elite: Dangerous is that NMS it really lacks focus, which is a problem and HG will definitely change that in future updates.
part of it is Sean and HG have just gotten much more savvy about how they keep people playing. some of it is good (expeditions, Twitch drops) and some of it is bad (features with mobile timer gates)
NMS has no focus now, it can fight, explore or build, but the content of each part is not enough.
yea, it gives you things to do but no real reason to do them, no real end goal
as someone who's played elite
that game lacks a particular end goal besides "grind for a bigger ship" as well
That's why I think HG should stop small updates, they should really strengthen the game in one part, become the core, and then add other parts.
i find that these incremental improvements do well enough
Sure, but if it's just continue small updates, NMS will never be radically improved.
I disagree
i mean, look at the game now vs at launch
that is a radical improvement
whether that improvement happens over a bunch of small updates or one large one means very little
maybe so
I agree that they need to really spend some time deepening some of the game systems and tying them together better. They've added a lot but that feature ocean is very wide and shallow
that is part of the issue with procgen. going wide is easy; going deep is extremely difficult
Well, I thought about it a bit and I think what NMS really needs is the concept of bringing together the disparate parts.
NMS has combat, exploration, construction, but lack of connection between them
all of these parts don't really affect the other parts
even adding more content to each section doesn't make them connect and affect each other
What if we had to explore and build our own space station and defend it from pirates?
what the common connection could be is some kind of reward for doing X activity enough, but the question remains what that exactly could be
Or the Atlas?
NMS has been radically improved in every way possible.
Try launching 1.0 straight after current version and you'll feel how even the basic movement feels so much better now compared to 1.0's tanky movement
I agree with the parts, I'm not saying past updates were bad, I just think some major improvements are needed for the NMS in the future
... Outposts 😔
outposts do be kinda lacking
They're useless now since you can get what they offer in the space anomaly since Prisms
I keep wishing for an update that just adds depth and risk to current content instead of adding new content
In any case, it looks like the NMS could be enhanced more in any direction, the question remains what HG wants the game to become what.
I totally agree
I mentioned it before but repairing frigates could be having to do some wire stuff and if you mess up, you have to pay tons of units.
Hacking outposts can be like a timed puzzle etc..
Instead, most interactions are just solved with a button press
although in a sense you are also asking for more content, because the deeper mechanics obviously also need more new content to support
In a way, yeah xD
what differs is the form we want the content to be in
Though I dont call sentinels or freighters as new content, I call it existing content that's been improved and made more interesting.. Even though the way to improve it means adding new content
Yeah
Outlaws was my favorite update and I'm so surprised Endurance took it's place for me.
I'm so happy with this streak of updates focusing on overhauling old existing stuff
amen to that
Oh, another random thing I reaaaally hope gets changed is the space encounters.
Instead of spawning in front of you, it would be way more immersive if it spawned somewhere else in the system and had a waypoint to it, like bounties
I think that would be a cool addition/change
I still expect NMS to make a big update that needs more time to improve, to complete more fundamental changes such as larger-scale battles, faction system, ground exploration, flora and fauna ecology, terrain climate, gravitational space environment, etc. .
A series of small update patterns, due to the time and the part that the developer can invest, can't achieve such improve
When was the faction system last touched? Since Atlas Rises?
very before
Outlaws update doesn't even add a new faction
just when you complete pirate quests that will reduce the favor of other factions
It's ridiculous in the sense that the player is working as a legitimate businessman in one system while attacking innocent passers-by in another.
It's ridiculous that a character can't put on a front for a faction?
Like how the mafia had pizza parlors but still sold contraband and engaged in other organized criminal activities?
but now there is almost no punishment
Ah yes, I'm raiding one faction and doing legitimate business with their rival, I should be punished for such activities?
What punishment would you suggest?
That's another example of "press the button" gameplay, restoring faction.. Just a button press.
Before Outlaws I was imagining like a hard mission or something that would change a race's view of you or something
yes, obviously, the outlaws has only the most basic things, and everything lacks feedback on the player's behavior
Establish a wanted system, players will be hunted by legal mercenaries, legal space stations will not be open to players, legal ground bases will not allow players to enter, until players return to legal status through some hacking methods or paying fines.
Those are reasonable changes I could see HG implementing 🤞🏼
there are many other, more complex ways to improve functionality to make these "high-risk illegal activities" really game mechanics to watch out for, rather than the almost indiscriminate and risky ones that are now.
Negative standing with a race would prevent you from trading with them, recruiting them to your squadron or fleet.
If it's really bad, they could lock you out of their space station and attack you on sight but only in their systems.
Man, all this talk always gets me excited for the next update lol
The best part is, even though I have so many ideas for what I'd like to see, I still get excited over something I wasn't even expecting, and then still go back to being excited about what I wanna see
I want new dungeons
More than just derelict freighters
The dungeons could incorporate other aspects of NMS, such as the language/maths puzzles, hazardous plants, and water.
while i do agree it could include puzzles, i hope they have nothing to do with the puzzles currently in the game. They’ve always felt unneeded and boring. Dungeons could utilize more fun, active puzzles that don’t involve you standing at a monitor solving a math problem.
Math puzzle just sounds boring and like lazy design
"I can't think of a rhyme or pictures
Let me google for a random equation"
i kinda liked the way The Witness dealt with puzzle design and layout. it promoted exploration and the puzzles were challenging and sort of abstract. This kind of system could work on planets in NMS
I could see nms having a puzzle where you push a giant ball
I'd like it iif we were able to sell goods to a station, such as metals or similar, to warrant growth on planets in the system such as more settlements or more lucrative trading opportunities, but could also play into a faction or player empire based system down the line
yessssss
BALL PUZZLES!!!!
I also think materials need more widespread uses. There are a lot of materials that are just straight up useless outside of specific situations.
Hmmm so they confirmed more content this year
Can't see how this wouldn't be 4.0...
Maybe it'll be a Christmas update this year?
Coulde be, but i think it might drop with the switch
Although they did say switch was getting 20 updates at launch so idk actually
Other articles say that Switch will be 'single player at launch'
Switch not launching with updates after Endurance would make it incompatible with multiplayer
and thus being 'single player at launch'?
Maybe
But I've also noticed that the game generally runs worse in mp
So it could be an optimisation thing
so like
people seem to think that after 3.99 4.0 will come
...but it can as well be 3.100?
I'm not quite sure decimals work that way...
3.100 = 3.1
Maybe 3.99.1 but not 3.100
Versions aren't necessarily decimals.
So yeah, 3.99 can in fact go to 3.100. That's however very cumbersome to use and is probably a good reason why most software devs don't pack 100 smaller patches into the same version count. Lol.
I use a Major version, minor version, patch number for most of my projects.
I had a feeling that version updates didn't necessarily follow decimal conventions but I can't ever remember seeing an X.100 for any game title I've played
I feel like I could really benefit from more color variety in the appearance modifier
I never understood why there couldn't just be a color wheel
Semver 🙂
According to The Sims 3 / EA devs it tanks performance
Color wheels tank performance?
Wait, I've been playing the Sims 3 all this time?
NMS =/= the Sims lol
I mean, color swaps are very easy so long as you have the base texture formatted properly for recoloring.
EA said that when they removed the color wheel in The Sims 4, over The Sims 3 😛
afaik NMS has never gone over x.99 for any version, and I think it only hit .99 only one time early in the game's life where there were a ton of bug patches
Are any of the Exotics Ships out now considered a Exotic Hauler? I don't think there are right or is the Squid Exotic consider the "Hauler" If not I'd love to have an Exotic Hauler.
ahhh, now this takes me back to when people would push the giant balls from ruins all the way to portals to try to turn them on... i think adding something like that in would make for a great little nod to that!
exotic variants of existing ship classes would be pretty neat. there's no exotic hauler, or exotic-anything really. they're a distinct ship class which takes most of the stat benefits of each other ship type, but none of the higher inventory tiers
Yeah 😦 I really wish we did. I know I shouldn't be complaining with all the things Hello Games and Sean have done in the six years since its release but I wish, I so wish we had more in the Exotic Family, hell Exotic Frigates and Freighters you know? Yeah I know we have Solar and Living Ships/Frigates now but man do I just love hunting and being surprised by finding Exotics out in the wild.
Regarding version numbers, they could always go the Beyond route and start naming it 3.99A, 3.99B, 3.99B HOTFIX, ...3.99.1H etc
Has anyone ever asked the devs about co-pilot functions?
do they plan to add more customization options? Like faces/armors/color options
How many buildings are in the game now? The ones you find on planets.
Do you think we could use som more of them?
I guess this might lead into cities. But I just remember from the 1st trailers. Seeing different looking buildings. Would be cool. If they added some of those back in. With some kind of function for them.
Idk. Maybe this is just a different art style
They could definitely fit. But i'd see them as just a variation of outposts, temples or archives
i would really like to see some more planet types and maybe some living ships that dock in stations, but you have as small if not a smaller chance at finding one as an exotic
or maybe a new race
Living ships would be cool to see flying around, but not dock cause it would allow you to buy it and render the quest pointless
ye you have a point
that third image, it was originally a trade outpost as you can see from the landing pads up top, or maybe an early concept for what became the archive buildings. but I guess they took it out sometime before release.
one thing that hasn't changed is their penchant for having huge structures with very little walkable areas inside...
looks like the Jawas home
I wish there were more giant buildings you can see from afar like the archives, most planets dont really feel "alive" like compared to earth where in some places you can see so many buildings and people, most planets kinda seem really empty
I feel like higher tier economy systems should have more and bigger buildings
Just feel more populated
Maybe lower tiers could have either less, or poorer looking buildings
maybe have npcs spread more evenly in freighters? ever since i built a 2nd floor theres only a single npc on the first main floor
good idea
Maybe pirate systems have the archive buildings turned into ship ports and markets
I got like 3 guys stuck in my fleet command room and they can't get out
Gave me a funny idea of "Feral living ships"
Like space animals and predators
Not a wish. Just a funny thought
theres two of mine under my floorboards walking outside the ship, 1 in my main area. the rest are all upstairs where i dont really go : P
Hey, that just means they don't crowd you in like mine
I wish the luminescent plants/grass on some planets that light up at night would have randomly generated illumination rather than the set repeating pattern.
i liked it, felt more lively, plus it is a big open space so a single crew member makes it feel kinda empty
good idea tho
I think the combat system needs rework. RN multi tools are the only "weapons" that despite different looks, they all function the same, and you have to pick and hoose weapon mods. I'd like different weapons to have different functions. Also, RN the only reason to use weapons are to 1. Kill enough sentinels to disable them on the planet, 2. Defend yourself against creatures, or 3. Farm creatures. I'd like to see the sentinel pillars go away and the sentinels become a more intimidating faction, to give us more of a feeling like we're warring with the sentinels.
I'd like to see NPCs become fightable opponents. Sentinels are boring imo, just endless waves of faceless robots. Conflict should have a reason for it to happen, because that makes the player care more about the outcome.
imagine a pirate npc with procedurally generated pets that protect them and attack you
i'd like custom sign posts. i don't build much, so the few bases i do have tend to be big. they'd feel a lot nicer if i could properly signpost everything. the mini message modules are scuffed and annoying with their popups, so just placable text plaques would suffice
keyboard and mouse support for consoles? 👀
I don't wanna kill the pets :(
This one seemed to be an early design of a planetary trade station when watching the video. Ships flew up there to those landing pads.
I think archive buildings are now filling their place as the "massive planetary building things"
I wish they would repurpose that model to something else now. Seems very fitting for Sentinels or something
honestly i wish they'd use this old outpost model as the normal trade outpost. it's always bothered me that the design they went with was an open-air outpost that is exposed to the elements of whatever planet they're on
Same. I can already imagine elevators going up there from the ground and clearly separating the trade outpost as different location from the planet itself.
Kinda like how space stations and freighters are their own locations with unique vibe, visuals and soundscapes
Trade outposts could have similar confined feeling of a safe interior designed for NPC traffic and stuff while having quick access to the landing zone through sliding glass doors or something.
hmm... old concept art of buildings. Some of those designs did influence many buildings added throughout the years like boundary failures, archives and holo terminuses
that bottom left one would be a really cool colossal building
Those look really cool
I have like an endless list of stuff I'd like to see, makes me wonder of HG feels the same way and if someone's on the team so eager to finish 5 updates so they can work on that thing on update 6 made possible by previous updates 😄
That's what I'm saying though. Make the sentinels less predictable waves and more like an organized army, perhaps controlled by an RTS-like AI or something.
Also. like I said, I think weapons should be weapons and multi-tools should be multi-tools.
Non-combative multi-tools are great. The mining laser, scanner, terrain manipulator, I like all those mechanics
but the weapons don't feel unique enough.
Other than the shotgun, you basically have either pew-pew weapons or charge-up weapons, any of which can be put on a pistol, shotgun, or organic-thingamabob.
This is going to sound crazy, but one thing I would actually really like is global text chat on the anomaly lol
I want rifles to be rifles. I want pistols to be pistols. I want shotguns to be shotguns
And the only melee combat rn is a slap? Who am I, Will Smith?
I also want grenades to be grenades.
I want sniper rifles. I want non-ship RPG launchers. I want a knife/sword of some sort. Maybe even a bow. I want it all.
Sure more complex Sentinel tactics would be nice, but what I meant was that NMS combat needs reasons that you're fighting beyond "this pirate/Sentinel is attacking you for an arbitary reason". For instance, you strike a trade deal with a NPC but they double cross you and you get ambushed in a meeting. Or maybe you take on a bounty mission to eliminate an illegal arms dealer. Or maybe you join a NPC faction and try to defeat the opposing faction in another system. More conflict in the game needs to be a result of player actions rather than the player being in the wrong place at the wrong time or simply attacked randomly.
it's a good idea, but without spoiling too much, that may conflict with the current storyline.
I'm up to date on the storyline. I think if HG wanted to change that status quo they certainly could, it's their universe after all, we just live in it
how do you do spoiler tags again?
||you could make it that the sentinels gained sentience and wanted to destroy/conquer the Atlas' creation(s), and you have to stop them from doing so.||
So like this may *just be only me but like. I want to specifically see how many planets, systems, creatures, I've specifically discovered.
For example: like a tab of every type of planet and then how many I've specifically discovered. Like "Hexagonal Planets: 18 discovered" and then same for like all types of creatures and such.
If that makes sense.
i think it works as a QoL thing
Ability to dismantle sails on solar ships would be nice
Wait so is this were we suggest ideas for nms?
More just make wishes to the void haha. I don’t know how much any devs see it
I’d like to see some bigger NPC settlements on planets. Like full cyberpunk cities, or at least the ability for the player to build it up. I mean I haven’t done settlements yet, so maybe this is somewhat possible already, but yeah
No mans sky:
Reclamation Update [Name Pending]
A general update for those in the community who enjoy finding wrecked ships and freighters
Change 1: Now on derilect freighters you can find a Hanger section, and by deciding to enter you close off the rest of the wreck
This area may be filled with ship upgrades, and rarely ships themselves.
These ships could be the ones we've known for years or could be unique to freighters
Change 1.5
Prototype Ships
The previously mentioned ships cannot be found flown by npcs and purchased, however can be claimed by you or sold to a Npc
Change 1.6
Collector Npc
A npc who will purchase prototype ships for incredibly high prices, and the higher rarity = more profit
Change 1, 1.5, 1.6 summed
Sacrifice guaranteed high profits for a smaller chance at massive profits
Prototype Ships can be claimed and used, but due to their untested nature may prove dangerous
For an example, long distance warps may damage you on exit, [highest chance of damaging warp drive, may damage other parts as well
Prototype ships have a factory esc look to them, wires visible, plating not installed, definitely safe weapons
Change 2
Sentinel Stargazing
A quest line focused on the tale of a Sentinel freighter, or more specifically a fighter escort
Upon failing to protect its vessel The ship floated in space, running out of power long ago
It later collided midspace causing sections and chunks of the vessel to scatter across the nearby system
The main design of the ship is sleeker, almost like a stealth bomber of our modern world
The ships main upside, aside from its unique design, is the most unique asset the Sentinel interceptor uses
Rapid shield charges, one the shield is broken a long period begins, after this the ship will regain shield power at a unprecedented speed, after this the ship will have a damage boost for a short period, meaning it may be use full to be damaged
Change 3
Standard wrecks
Normal wrecks have been in the game for awhile, however they get old very quickly
Now ships may spawn much more damaged beyond repair
You may explore a short quest line to find the ships owner, destroyer, or its destination
[Seprate msg due to text limit]
I had another section, however I forgot it
More decorative shit, like plates and cups and pots and pans and stoves and ice cream makers.
Give an actual incentive to making food, like cool effects, like increased speed, health and damage.
Maybe even add some negative effects like obesity, which is basically just decreased speed.
Let us buy salvaged frigate modules, like on god, i don't want to spend hours going to different derelict freighters just for one module, they're cool, it's just that it gets old doing it back to back just so I can get a room.
I actually hate that idea, leave them be
Yeah. That's what I know it turned into. But it would be nice to see them repurpose that model. And others into something.
Rn all I want is folding ship and cape visuals to be fixed :’)
I think the cape visuals were fixed. If you are talking about the rocket boosters showing through the cape. Didn't see them. When I was playing today.
Lightsabers would be pretty dope.
I am not a fan of the submarine exocraft
That's why I'd like some alternative water vehicles
Maybe a small speed boat, like the pilgrim on the water surface
Or a amphibious vehicle
the nomad can go on water, but a proper boat would be pretty cool
No I’m just talking about how capes don’t show on anyone but yourself, everyone’s else’s capes are invisible.
proper boat.... fishing update... water rendering... sold!
no, as a choice, if you want to
Deeper oceans, please!
Subnautica + No Man's Sky
Is this artbook still available?
Be able to build custom space bases. Like a space elevator. Also like if that does happen then possibley like a docking hub. Around a planet
Add nexus mission for defeat 5 waves of sentinels in space
This would probably also mean deeper caves so yes please this
Possibly a pdf online
People tend to say pre-release footage looks more alive and dynamic than what we have now. Also procgen and exploration are top wanted features for an overhaul rn. So I think adding some random encounters and dynamic behaviour of (but not only) creatures would really add a lot of excitement and actual sensation to exploration. Edit: (It's kinda what makes Bethesda's gameworlds interesting apart from fixed points of interest)
random encounters (besides the trader ships that land and events in space) on planets would be great as long as they were diverse enough
just wish a majority of HG came together to improve planetary exploration instead of how they’re doing it now with small teams devoted to each update
They need to add a evasive move when fighting sentinels, like a dash or dodge it'd make combat more fluid and its a good way of showing that the jetpack is good for more than just traversal, and imagine u could upgrade the amount of times u can do it before it recharges
pls sean..
You can melee boost in any direction I do it a fair amount in combat. Usually just to quickly move between targets because who needs to dodge when you're a mobile fortress lol
I've never used it in combat lol, I just thought it was something to do when u are out of mining beam charge
Nah, the melee boost is great! Melee+jet pack gives you a lot more control then rocket boots.
Give it a go so l see if you like it. It may not quite give you the dodge you're looking for but it can greatly increase mobility if used well.
I'll try it with full sentinel level
Well melee hold then jet pack
I just wish the combat was like battlefront 2, but I get the vibe they were trying to go for
to be fair look at Minecraft's combat after all these years
🤷♂️ never played either of those.
Anyway hope that gives you a bit more of what you're looking for.
Give the ability to eradicate sentinel forces within your base range.
Either something to place or simple make it that you just have to deactivate the sentinel forces while inside your base area.
The thing we NEED is destroying a sentinel freighter and ending the fight like with a sentinel walker.
I'd like an overhaul on exocraft
Update+rework of them
wouldnt mind a couple new ones either
Well I'd say it's very likely to happen. Given this years updates have mostly been focusing on fleshing out existing features rather than adding new ones
I'd like the materializer to function like a teleport to an exocraft bay on the freighter that you could place down the summoning stations and be able to interact with vehicles. and bonus points for not making me place summoning stations on some planet to use them if they are in the freighter
a ship upgrade/salvage station for the freighter.. it's a chore to fly back and forth to a station swapping ships to do that now
Proper desert/sand planets please. How is this not a thing yet?
My graphic cards would be pleased.
Um something I'd like to see is maybe the ability to have Orbital bombardments from freighters
Add one of the monolith teleporters on the freighter so it's easter to go to certain systems. Even if it requires 10 antimatter
Give us vr nms on Oculus quest 1 and 2 TwT
We can move the base computer by placing a new one it will delete the old one
The quests are not strong enough
TwT
I dunno if anyone else has suggested this, but I think it would be cool if we had more weapons for the exocrafts!
I was thinking something like a Anti-Air/Flak gun for the Colossus. This would be pretty neat for when pirates randomly attack so you aren't forced to retreat/find your ship.
I also think a cool feature to see would be actual battles in systems listed as "At War" or something similar. This idea stemmed from a lil encounter I had last night during my expedition travels, a bunch of freighters and frigates were sorta mushed together in a tight area rather than spread out. But this made me think of like Star Wars battles where there are usually a bunch of ships duking it out!
Finally, my last cup would be hopefully we could choose what weapons are freighters use in the future? Like a choice between AA focus, ship to ship focus, or maybe some missiles/torpedoes! Or heck, what if we could call in a orbital bombardment on sentinels? c:
dunno if this screencap will show but I thought I'd attempt to show it off to give a idea of the space battle I saw
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1001097476398403604/1002452155346731028/275850_20220729005443_1.png?width=956&height=538
A large-scale interstellar war has been proposed a long time ago, but it also needs the support of the faction system, otherwise the war cannot be explained. And the pirate organization's too powerful fleet is obviously unreasonable.
I just use my quest with steam. When I want to play NMS VR. And it works pretty well.
Planets with mesa landscapes please 😍
I'd also love planets with dunes
I’d like a overhaul on inventory so it’s less clunky searching for everything
Ideal NMS Ocean update:
•1000-2000u depth oceans
•On land Sonar mapping to see the proc gen layout(if possible.)
•Multiperson ocean vehicle(if possible.)
•Underwater minotaur upgrades
•Sea pets in an aquarium base tech
•Underwater civilizations with defense systems you have to dismantle(basically dungeons)
•Large deadly sea creatures and/or Underwater sentinels.
•Spots to place Underwater freighters deeper underwater for more depth and large exploration like a derelict.
•Sunken blueprints for alternative salvage data
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
just saw a PS5 version remaster is going to release in october so i really would like to ask the devs to unlock 120hz for PS5 users. 60hz feels uh, sluggish sometimes
exciting that the game is going strong after all these years though. good stuff!
Maybe this is already in the game and I'm too dumb to know about but I'll type it here anyway.
A technology that you can equip on your person to trade with any group member as long as they are in the same star system. I was trying to play with a friend and it became really annoying.
I kinda like that underwater is a natural respite from sentinels, but yes please, making big underwater sea monsters would be awesome.
Good aftoon everyone how are you doing today?
Is this the section of the Discord we discuss story or is that more for spoilers?
That's for spoilers.
This channel is more for a wishlist of features for NMS you'd like to see.
(Also the place to talk about older versions of NMS)
Ah ok, thanks Ditto
No problem!
i just read this and hope not, i am like 90% done with my underwater base lol
but i hope so because it is also dope, the boulder is conflicted
I did already dont worry gleam lol
Yeah ocean is so smol
Never thought about how it could affect ocean bases though
Granted I’m not sure how much you can do with a deepwater ocean base I haven’t actually found a good cave myself

Good old help desk
Hey I could finally see my list of requests
Couldnt find that option anywhere on that page on my phone lol
Some of my old ones are
and others are just horribly typed by 19yo me 😂
I find there's not much variety in terms of planetary hazard levels. A day's worth of progress makes traversing the most severe planets easy . I'd like to see planets or systems that test the most seasoned explorers.
Molten lava lakes, pitch black night cycles with packs of predator fauna, ice mountains hard to climb, bedrock you can't mine through.
Here's one that noone will disagree with, let us own more ships
i did not make a cave, if i was higher rank i would share pictures
I feel like the easiest way to make the galaxy feel more expansive would be a simple retexture of space stations. The outsides are varied enough, but when you enter, they all look the same. If the interior of each station was one of a few different designs, rather than the same design every time, it would feel a lot more polished.
can you teleport to someones freighter if they have the teleporter and you are not in their group from the anomaly?
I don't have any incredible ideas or entire concepts for Hello Games but please, please add some new Exotics Ships into the game, I love hunting for them and sending off my findings to the NMS Community. I'd also like it if there were exotic Frigates and Freighters too.
I would love to be able to filter our discoveries list in different ways, such as showing only planets where X resource is found. This would be a huge QoL improvement
This is why I want deeper oceans
Oceans would be the perfect catalyst to test seasoned explorers
Only thing keeping you safe is a shitty submarine vehicle
Actually we can already filter out discoveries I think.
I always filter all my old ones out as I do stuff
you can search for planets that meet specific conditions? I must have missed this 👀
Sort of
You can filter out discoveries and then in your resource catalog you can click to locate a specific resource I believe
It wont filter to the discoveries but it’ll find a place near you with that resource
Like if you want volcanic planets you select basalt
If you want sea planets you read the map or filter cyto something etc
If you want to check high economy and other stuff I think that’s what galactic map can do
I want to check my cords in the ship.
i was actually going to ask that! genius! btw the should make living freighters, like sometimes you find it when you get the whalesong detected, like the alpha to some living frigates, these peaceful creatures form a symbiotic relationship with you and if you have enough money,it will feed your crew and give you a place to live, while you continue to give them “treats”to maintain their hyperdrive and other body parts that you can use
these giants are super rare, being as rare as an exotic ship
I'm enjoying the current expedition in that you have to rely on the freighter more. To me this seems more intriguing and realistic (i know it's not a realism game, but still). Using your freighter as a mothership of sorts is very interesting, moreso than just magically summoning your stuff anywhere. This brings me to a point: a more difficult gamemode would be interesting. I play on survival mode but many players would enjoy even more of a challenge. Maybe your spacecrafts can only travel a limited distance from your freighter. making the freighter more important. Just an idea. Thanks for reading!
Honestly, we need more varied animals. The most common animals are always the usual dog-like or cow-like, spider/crab-like, and then the diplo.
