You can get anomaly detectors in asteroid fields, you also might actually have the dream aerials crafting recipe unlocked check your curiosities crafting section, you can make glass out of silicate powder in a refiner 40:1 ratio

Also, a better way to get glass is growing lots of frost crystals.

No, you can find them up to S just takes a lot of hunting. You can find S in tier 3 systems. You feed them to reroll/raise their stats I think, and do missions with them to level their rank up
