Tea 👍 I probably have around double what you have there
I have more hurried somewhere as well
I’m some cabinet probably
put lead in it
Tasty
So I do a similair burger for lunch sometimes. It could just be the photo, but it looks like the egg is really overcooked, and the burger is, well obviously small, but also overcookeed
The egg is just covered in cheese
The burger is slightly overcooked though. Mostly just so it's crispy on the outside
My grandpa nailed how I liekd it, the rim basically just burnt, the burger mid-rare
If the pan is hot enough it'll crust the patty quick enough to not overcook and shrink smaller than the bun. If it was delicious, that is all that matters.
I enjoy burgers anyway I can get them. Smash burger or think, juicy Lucy or hockey puck over cooked. If it's a burger I will enjoy it! Though in all the burgers I've tried, I have yet to have an egg on my burger
egg on a burger is great
i was just talking to someone who said he mixes egg in with the burger
Now that I've never heard of unless turning a meatloaf recipe into a burger patty
Looks yummy

I dunno if I'm weird, but I add a tiny amount of honey when I do that
I wish I could taste correctly right now, looking at your food made me so darn hungry
Cravings n memories 😩
I've always wanted to try durian
Was the cake stinky at all, supposedly that fruit is very smelly
when i was there, they had some big ole durians on the floor. you should be able to find some at an asian market
it does have a strange ‘off’ flavor almost like cheese, but it becomes an acquired taste i’d say.
Interesting
honestly have a hard time remembering what the fruit by itself tastes like. tried it in Hong Kong in 2014
Many people hate durian because of the stench, but the taste is really good
I live in Asia so sometimes I get durian
yep. i honestly don’t remember a bad smell when i had it
Durian's stench isn't that bad tho
Hakarl is where the grossness is at
I (regrettably) tried it a few years back
For those who don't know it's a type of fermented shark
Which develops a shell of ammonia
whoa

mmm
What’s all that sauce.
is this a new planet in No mans Sky?
Perhaps
Cream
Fresh sourdough first with new culture and sourdough pancakes with 3 different kinds of strawberry from the garden
Void spirit inspired me to make burgers today
Those look phenomenal. 12/10 would consume
Nothing fancy
One of the best breakfasts right there
classic breakfast, cant beat it
Im pretty sure classic breakfast wouldn't win against my fist 🤜 🍳 🥓 🍞
It dont get much better than this
TOAST.
the defenders of classic breakfast will stand between it and you, and protect it with their lives stomachs!
Fried eggs on leftover pizza after putting in the oven is really good
I did eggs this morning too over chive potato pancakes and ham steak
It’s not letting me attach photos
Have to have the familiar role to attach photos to messages
Double cheese fries spam burger late night snack 😋
Dessert rice. Strawberry jam, cinnamon, vanilla, butter, small sprinkle of sugar, teeny amount of salt
Not including measurements, because I kinda didn't measure anything aside from the rice. And that was loosely lol
I mean
I guess I hope that tasted good
But that doesnt sound appealing to me
I'm not accustomed to seeing rice as a desert
I'm guilty of making fun of dessert rice
But tbh, like all the ingredients are good, so I'd imagine it actually taste pretty good
Maybe I'll try it someday when my nose isn't broken, I'll make Ceryn try too 😋
Garlic bread grilled cheese with some spaghetti sauce from a jar as the "tomato soup"
Today I made my version of Fideo Loco! So gooood!
Pickled eggs and asparagus.
Homemade brine with water base vinegar basil rosemary salt paprika
Post 20 mile cycle fuel.
Looks really yummy
Mango, coconut cream and sticky rice is yummy.
You probably lost him at coconut
Yep
Today I learned that sieving properly stored flour isn't required with modern food standards - and was mostly done historically to remove clumps caused by moisture contamination, weevils and flour beetles.
sometimes you wanna do it to avoid it clumping is what i was taught
You typically sift flour when weight is important. For example, angel food cake with sifted flour will have a lighter and fluffier texture than one that wasn’t sifted.
Is that an… egg and shredded cheese sandwich?
Egg salad
But. Yes
Cheddar cheese is put on egg salad sammiches normally as far as I'm aware. But I only have the shredded form lol
Well this is the first time i’ve ever heard of an egg salad sandwich so yeah
It's basically the same as a tuna salad one just with egg instead of tuna
If that when helps lol
it usually melted if put on
Interesting
I can understand melted cheese on a hot egg sandwich
But a cold egg salad one I can't picture it haha
Don't usually see cheese on one of those, usually a sauce/salsa in my experience
if anything
the right shredded cheese I can see being good though, and that all that matter for the preson
Salsa seems like a good idea. What sort of sauce would go with egg salad? Always open to trying things that may improve things
honestly any... salsa of any style is always good. Also, if you aren't beholden on egg salad, consider a Korean Street Toast instead and crack and egg on it
I'll have to look that up to make sure I make it right, but that sounds good
basically it a sandwich with egg and cabbage but so good
😋 👌
thank you
Wait, you cook like that?
putting spaghetti on bread like that anyways
Sir, let me introduce you to the United Kingdom
We will put anything on toast
toast is universal
Will I get crucified if I post vegan stuff here?
nope
not crucified, but judged and banned
Why? o.O
just kidding lol
beans on toast 👌
Toast on toast
Yes please. I have two kids who are very picky when it comes to meat so I'm always looking for good vegan/vegetarian dishes to try with them.
Can do! Where do you live? Just so I'll know convient ingredients for you :) I have 3 kids, the youngest seems like a natural born vegetarian, has never liked meat that much, eatch fish and sometimes chicken. The two other will eat anything, including vegetarian/vegan foods and that's what I mostly make for them at home. Us adults are not really vegan, but we eat vegan foods like 90% of our diet, and never red meat.
I'm mostly pescatarian, with the occasional chicken. I eat red meat maybe 3 times a year, and that's being generous. My oldest will eat plain dry chicken, but that's about it. My youngest won't touch any chicken or red meat, but he does eat shrimp. Both will consume almost any vegetable put in front of them.
I'm in coastal Virginia. Trying to come up with complete meals is the difficult part. My oldest is allergic to lentils, which I make a ton of for myself.
A great vegan side is cider poached cherries in quina. A vegetarian main dish.. lemon butter pasta, and you can add some spicy eggplant slices or spicy roasted butternut squash slices in there to sorta imitate meat if you want (but taste good too)
both rather simple to do too, and the pasta one is really fast
@dusty scarab do you use soy or tofu?
I use both. The kids don't like tofu too much but will chow down if I air fry it with a side of teriyaki dipping sauce. Seitan is on my list of things to try. Trying to find more protein centric dishes that can become staples in my meal planning considering my kids and I are big into training various sports.
Lemon butter pasta is basically my go-to when pressed for time. Only problem is it's a plate full of carbs.
look for teff flour and teff grain if you want to up protein and works great for frying and flavoring stews and stuff too
the grain rather
the flour used for Injera bread and stuff
fry up some tofu coated with teff grain, make it nice and nutty/earhty
I'll definitely look into teff flour/grain. If I can turn it into a pasta, they'll definitely eat it.
that I don't know, but turn it into Injera bread and do an Ethopian ginger potato and wrap wit htaht
Kinda same here. I've noticed the brand of the tofu matters a lot too, I've found one good one over here so far. My girls like them bredded, in various ways. Or just shred, marinade and make into a sauce. I have ingredients for seitan too, I don't know why I'm so intimitated on trying it out xD
Brb, jumping into a rabbit hole of youtube videos for teff flour/grain.
see you in 8 hours
xD
My favorite part about books on Amazon is the picture of the faceless model showing the dimensions of the book. But I've saved that for later, thanks for the recommendation.
I've had Ethiopian food on a couple occasions, but not consistently since there aren't any local spots near me. But I loved what I've had so far.
what?
@dusky solstice Halep
yeah?
Ah ok sorry
I'm thrown off because it looks like a combo of kebabs, beef slices, fries, a cheese
but not a normal turkish cheese
'm lik going thru a rolodex in my head for this
Some fries and sliced up bread on the bottom
No cheese
Staying away from dairy a bit atm
We have hundreds of Turkish pizzerias/kebab places around here, like the whole country is full of them. I don't eat any other kind, ever. Best stuff.
I can't place the sauce, it seems like a fusion dish actually not Turkish
so that makes sense
wait, are you Dutch?
Me? Finnish.
OH, sorry!
it resembles a Dutch-Turk dish
I feel like I should be able to place that dish
It isn't "traditional" Turkish in terms of the style, so I'm guessing it from İstanbul
ummm
the sauce is throwing me off so much
Little bit like Iskander but without butter
There is a dish, isn't actually Turkish that sorta like that that called Frit Kebab
but sine the meat looks mixed, that doesn't make sense
If there is some food I miss, it's kebab.
and the colour of the sauce is not traditional for that
I didn't get kofte this time, just lamb doner
you know why it hard to get proper kebab in the US...?
No idea, why?
the secret ingredient is lamb tail fat, which is harvested from a lamb that isn't really in the US
I don't eat kebab cause I don't eat red meat :D
@neon grove so sent the pic to my Turkish ex.... I got close!
Everything else I like I've found really good replacements, just not kebab. All the imitation stuff is not juicy enough.
they literally said it a UK version of a dish they do
which makes sense why I couldn't place it
It actually i guess just in last year or two popping up in some places like that (in İstanbul)
Wish I had a Turkish wife
Also kebab here in Finland is not made of lamb, so even the kebab I love is not authentic.
İskender kebap, but in Turkey it served on Pide (the dish I know) not fries
It's prolly cause lamb here is not so common.
Kebab doesn't need to be meat, it a prep style
the color a bit off too from what I'm used to, but tons do their own sauce
Then I correct myself, the one thing I miss is kebab meat.
Was same in Canada, hard to find lamb kebab
And the lamb wasn't good there
Kebabs are one of the easier things to do, which is shocking
Just the way it's prepared, it's really delicious. And I've never liked red meat much, always was picky even before I stopped eating it. But kebab is amazing.
Sometimes it's family recipes too
it basically ground up heavily seasoned meat cooked on a skewer
exactly, what threw me off the most was probably the fried
I do wonder if I could make similar from seitan myself.
İskender kebap popped into my head at first, but between colour (from what I"m used to and the fries) I was thinking it some regional one I didn't know of
Shish taouk also good
I reckon you could for chicken shish type kebab
I actually loe the idea of fries instead of Pide in that dish though
Chicken is meat though.
Your friend smart on that
I love it served like this with the bread chopped up also
Soaks up a bit of the sauce too
you could make it from Seitan, not sure how easy to get it to hold up though
We have some fake kebabs here, idk what they even are made of, prolly soy and oat stuff. They're just often very dry even if the taste is the same.
I'm twirling an idea of doing it with squash
Few of my friends have sent me pictures of their handmade seitan, from flour they washed themselves, and it looks soooo good. I haven't dared to try :D
And I have the gluten flour waiting. So no washing for me, even though supposedly washing it yourself makes it better.
Idk if I'm even using right words, I'm not used to talking food stuff in English :D
All good, not like we cant understand or figure it out
I always thank people for communicating in English because they don't need to and I appreciate it
Would be a little counterproductive for me to talk alone in my own language :D
Really? Finnish food is depression food really. Like honestly horrible. All the good stuff comes from Russia or Sweden.
And the banter between countries
I find how resourceful people are interesting
We mostly have stuff like.. wheat soup and macaroni soup and oats soup.. like literally watered down goop. Called "velli" and varies with what you combine with milk into it. Horrible.
I was just about to say salad and soup
Our soil is very poor, so not much grows here.
Reindeer though
We got potato, wheat and oat, but even their nutritional values are not the best. You buy same stuff from Lidl here, sooo much better.
Do you have elk there?
Technically reindeer is Sami people food, not Finnish.
Ah sorry
We just steal everything from them.
We have elk and bear, but all those are really had to cook not to be bad.
It's their meat, it's not really easy on the taste buds.
Mushrooms and berries, those are a thing here.
Not sure if we came up with brown sauce or Swedish.. but technically it's gravy.
Lots of sauces are brown 🤣
All kinds of fish are very Finnish too.
Yeah but you know, every country has to have their own version they came up with xD
As long as you don't put raisins in dishes it's all good
Something that I just can't stand
Finland was a really poor country always. We had a few "royalty" that lived like kings, but the rest of the people lived very poor. The city folk are where the disgusting stuff came from, all the watered down porridges. Those that lived in the woods mostly had it good, berries, mushrooms, fish.
But back then it was also illegal to hunt or gather in someone elses lands.
These days we have a law, "every man's rights", that is basically a guarantee that no matter who owns the land, everyone can walk there and gather.
Hunting and fishing is the only things you cannot do on someone elses land, everywhere else yes, when it's season.
@zinc dust are you vegan or vegetarian?
I've been twirling ideas of how to do the kebab for ya, and vegitarian is easier is all
at least without special ordering some stuff
It will work, shoot me with any ideas you got!
I mostly just avoid eating meat. Chicken and fish I eat sometimes, red meat not at all.
if you willing to order some TGase, then your options open up quite a bit, because I think you could do a mushroom one quite well
because you could use that to basically turn the mushroom mix into a solid piece for the skewer
OHHHHH I HAVE AN IDEA
Not quite kebab but would be good and skewer cook
I've never even heard of it and google just gives me transglutaminase which tells me even less xD
if you get your hands on smoked scamorza (a cheese), bread that in teff grain and cook off
the nickname for it is meat glue, it allows proteins to rebind...
so you could turn say a ribeye into pasta
or shrimp actually which made it famous
We have lots of oriental stores here, all kinds, I live in area with lots of immigrants so lot of places here are theirs too.
the more I think about it, the mroe I think Kebabs are the hardest to do vegan/tarian
ton of great ideas, but keeping it from falling apart becomes hard
ujnless you want a more meatloaf ftexture
on the dense side rather
sweet potato, squash, you could pull it off
Honestly, I think just need to ditch the idea of replicating the meat and just going with the feel. Mushrooms could actually work really well.
so, forget about replicating meat because if a dish is good it good
that's what hurts so many faux meat products, trying to pretend their meat
just stand on your own and you good
Funny thing is, I love most of them, cause I feel like "yes, finally meat without the disgusting bits!"
I was always a picky meat eater.
All the tendons and fatty bits, just nope. No thank you.
if you don't mind a dense texture, what might be good is a butternut squash, asparagus, ginger sorta prep of it
Sounds good.
And I don't miss meat like I'd have to replace it. Only need a protein source, it can be anything.
almost like a neew approach to a butternut squash steak
chop up the squash, simmer it in a liquid with a bunch of ginger, cook the asparagus french style (over cooked), blend it all up with some instant flour, and mold it around the skewer and cook until yeah

What did you post?
Five stars lunch right here folks
poor man's meal bruv
Awesome. One of my favorite chef YouTubers recently made a video on making this humble yet amazing sandwich. Great job
what's their name?
Add mayo and salad and I'd go for it happily.
Rate my dinner
Couldn't agree more
Think I got carried away with the blueberries.. :/
Nothing wrong with that.
Kenji
I can't recognize the meal but it looks delicious
perfect amount of blueberries, wouldn't say no to more either
No such thing.
😄
can NEVER get carried away with blueberries
Made chocolate peanut butter frappe
That sounds absolutely delicious :o
It's super tasty
ooo it looks fantastic great job😍
I made that on purpose to look like shit

Looks yum!
Was too! Healthy stuff and junk food (the veggie nuggets kinda are..)
Warning again? Jesus, give me a break
I'll go and never set my foot here again
Don't act upset, you aren't even posting pictures of your food.
Teriyaki
One of those "fancy" instant noodle things
I.... what brand is this? I'm struggling to see where the Teriyaki is. The noodles look damned good compared to many instant, but missing taht part
It's just teriyaki sauce, no meat or anything
It was Nissin brand
I think that's how you spell it
But one of the ones in a box and not a packet
no I know the brand yeah, makes sense
that look good
It was pretty tasty. Not amazing but worth the $1 I spent on it for sure
yum
I make toast
and.....?
Nothing else
I meant, what is your point?
Well stupid, but not random
Okay
leave that crap to #bot-spam please
I’m not a bot
I’m not a bot and I’m not spamming
been enjoying salads lately
That is a tempting meal on lettuce.
that's one scrumptious looking salad 🤤
have you tried Gomaae yet?
I've never even heard of it
Basically it a chilled sesame spinach salad, easy to do, holds for days, and delicious
Lemme guess... czech republic?
Finland.
We have like one struggling Finnish pizzeria franchise, I have no idea who eats there, it's bland and undercooked :D
Welp we have like one good pizzeria left around the city i live in
Pizza hut tried to move to the main city, but just like dominos pizza its overpriced for czech ppl
We had Pizza hut like in 90's :D I think there is one in our capitol city. Dominoes and those never made it here. I love Turkish pizza and kebab.
I had Domino's in the states and honestly wouldn't even call it a pizza by my standards.
Woke up early today and wanted a simple cheese burger
Curious what is pizza to you then? 🤔
Dough, sauce, cheese is all I need for a pizza toppings optional. Do I like all pizza no some just isn't worth the money 🤑
Koreans have an interesting take on Pizza and though I normally wouldn't ask for any of those toppings I'd love to try it
I don't like the thick dry crusts. Needs to be thin, so it will cook in the tomato sauce just the right way in the oven. And so much more spices, also the cheese matters too, some are just dry after dripping all the oils onto the pizza, not my thing.
i dislike when pizza is too bready. If you guys like thicker, deep dish pizza, Jets has a really good one. buttery, crispy crust
but NY style will always be my favorite. especially when you just order a slice and they throw it back in the oven and becomes real crispy
would definitely try a Korean pizza, hope it has kimchi 😀
Yeah, honestly, American pizza is a bit of blasphemy in my country :D It's just too much dough and too little taste. Also too much toppings is a thing too.
where are you
italy?
the deeper dish pizzas can usually handle a lot more toppings but i mostly agree with you. 2-4 toppings is enough. For thin crust, 1-2
nice, have not had Turkish pizza
I mostly meant the amount of them total, not like how many different toppings you like.
gotcha
Dominoes is not a representative of good pizza
^
https://ilposto.fi/en/restaurants/ilposto-hervanta We have a really good Italian place near us too.
Il Posto, Hervanta
A bit better than Papa John’s but not ideal
Wouldn't call that American style either, just cheap ingredients style
Next time my dietician lets me make a pizza, I'll show it off
I've had Dominoes and a couple local pizzerias in a few different states in America and they're just not my thing.
Gotta find the good spots, we have a million restaurants for every style
those look amazing. Italian-style crust is pretty
It could be the difference in dough.
when i looked up Turkish style pizza i found this, and i want the one on the left
Oh, yeah, those are not what I mean :D
It's really hard to show, because each restaurant has their own personal style, so there is literally one for every taste and mood of pizza :D
that’s how America is
you’ll find a lot of crummy pizza, but a lot of amazing ones across the country
Like that's from the site we usually order in from, you can see the difference a bit, though of course those are fancy pictures :D
they look good, definitely more Italian inspired
Kebab in most of those places is to die for, if there is anything I miss that is a genuine kebab :D
Those are pizzas
Never had it
Too overpriced and too small
It's fast food pizza, like McDonald's is fast food burgers, or Taco Bell is fast food tacos - quick and easy, not the best by a long shot
At least it has a good price in america
In czechia, you pay 2 dollars for basicaly a fried sandwich
(This applies to burger king and mcdonalds)
Kfc is a bit better
We don't even have cheap food in McDonalds cause the employees actually get paid here too.
I like making fun of america too
I never mean it
In fact i make fun of all the countries
Anywayz
Has anyone here ever had a baguette from france?
My husband is American, we make lots of fun xD But just between us mostly.
Its my only goal in life because its actualy doable
The differences between our countries are sometimes just crazy enough to give anyone ptsd.
Yeah husbands from america are really tough. They break a leg, you say youl call an ambulance and they are fine again
Damn
Like its true
An european paycheck would leave you on the streets in america
Let's reel it back in to food, or #off-topic-bond-james-bond 😄
Exactly xD
Oke glaem
Im in tunesia rn and they have this sussy sauce here
Idk what its called
Maybye they cooked it badly
But it tastes like shark tornado
So bad its funny
Also they keep burning everything
I wanted sausages and i got basically coal
We have this thing called black sausage, it's like a staple food of my town.
It's a blood sausage, soooo good.
The American will not even try it xD
It may not look like much, but with lingonberry jam, it's so good.
depends on which American you ask, lotsa diversity here
I referred to my American :)
ahh
It's the name, next time tell them it is Paradise Sausage or something
lol
Blood sausage just doesn't sound appealing
vampire sausage
No it's called black sausage :D "Mustamakkara".
Hmm, blindfold taste test them
Mustamakkara (lit. 'black sausage') is a type of Finnish blood sausage traditionally eaten with lingonberry jam. It is available in many stores across Finland, but is considered a specialty of Tampere, Pirkanmaa. Mustamakkara is at its best when bought and eaten fresh at market stalls, to which it is delivered in styrofoam boxes straight from the factories, still piping hot. A typical practice of reheating the sausage is to fry it in a pan.[1]
Mustamakkara is known to have been eaten as early as the 17th century and was generally cooked over a small fire, in a hot cauldron, or in an oven. Mustamakkara is made by mixing ground pork, pig blood, crushed rye and flour, after which it is stuffed into a casing of intestine. The two major producers of this food are Tapola[2] and Savupojat.[1]
--
Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain was one of the celebrities who had given praise to this Finnish traditional food, one that is generally an acquired taste in Finland, by eating as much as a pound in Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations show and saying, "Good stuff!"[4][5]
Oops, the wiki looked a lot smaller, sorry for the wall of text :D
Sounds tasty
It is.
Blood makes me naucious. In all forms.
I can control myself when someone is bleeding and needs my help, but i wod touch any bloody food
Finland was for a long time kinda poor country, and the land barren, soil poor, we have a lot of dishes that use up everything possible. Bone broths, liver stews, even roasts of moose and bear that have a very strong tasting, tough meats. Blood is used a lot, those sausages, we have blood crepes and such.
Chorizo hash and eggs
Those wiener cut things are the best meat imitation stuff I've found.
when you know you know this is an amazing meal!
cacio e pepe?
I woke up at 6am and needed a burger so I made a simple double cheese burger. Started my day off just right 😉
Closer to that actually than the vegan version of mac and cheese it's supposed to be :D
there must be something sauge-like in every cuisine that other folks wuld find disgusting and is considered the best thing ever by the locals. exhibit b (since blood sausage was alredy exhibit A): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokoretsi
"Meat in tube form" as Chef Bourdain often said.
And often the first thing he'd seek out abroad lol...
Made this for lunch earlier today.!🥵
It's an Indian dish. Fish tails.!🥵🥵😍😍
ooh i've never had that. is it spicy?
If it's Indian and it's red, you can bet it's spicy😍🥵
As someone who loves fish, I imagine it's delicious as an Indian dish.
Home made Dough covered in cheese and pepperoni baked until done and drizzle of hot sauce and ranch dressing. I call it pizza some may not but one things for sure it's delicious!
one of my favorite YTubers just released a video from Milan Italy and the pizza he's showing from Italy I guess wouldn't be classified as pizza with some people who prefer a specific type of pizza as pizza lol but maaaan it looks good
big thick airy dough
I suppose Italy, the country that created pizza, has a right to call what ever they want pizza, I'll just call it food and delicious!
Bro wrote 3 paragraphs to say he made pizza
Good looking pizza, tho those arent paragraphs
On mobile it looks like paragraphs
Turning a box of mac n cheese and a pound of ground beef into a homemade hamburger helper
Nummy, the best way to have Mac n cheese
Yesss
I sure hope my personal taste in pizza did not offend you!
Not at all, quite opposite. taste and food likes are all personally subjective. That's what I love about food and getting to know a culture / people from other countries through their food likes. We all have different tastes and likes based on our life experiences and that is awesome to me
oooh i love spicy, especially the crazy ass hot ones
Nice, and on that note...
Some are hot. Most are usually delicious😍😍
Yum. What fish is that? The gravy, esp that oil, looks 'mastt'.
You look Indian. So you'll probably know Rohu. If not, it's a variant of Carp. And yeah, the gravy was super delicious😍😍
@tough canopy Bangladeshi, so we call it 'rui mach', but yeah, it's one of my favourites. I like it more 'bhuna', though.
Bangali?
Made my version of shrimp gumbo for lunch
Omg that looks so gooood!
GUMMMMMBOOOOOOO! I adore shrimp gumbo so much.. wait i HAVE shrimp... Ok, I know whats for dinner now lol
I was thinking of the same! The problem is, I've never had or made gumbo, so I don't know where to start :o
Probably start with the shrimps. Then the sauce with veggies. Add rice in the end I guess
Fish fry>>>>> 😮💨😮💨😮💨🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
I got informed we are having a cloud of potatoes and roadkill plant for dinner.
Super appetising? :/
Mostly funny!
Haha, 'kay.
The fake meat patties kinda look like someone drove over a stump with a car :D
youtube has some amazing recipes on it for awesome gumbo
I'll check that out! I've only recently started getting into youtube cooking videos, they used to be nightmarish to me. But they can be really awesome, specially some budget cooking videos!
this is very very similar to the recipe I use, almost identical to what I was taught https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76JXtB7JFQY
Chef Isaac Toups, of Toups Meatery, teaches us how to make a New Orleans style chicken and sausage gumbo. Isaac lets us in on the importance of taking it slow and enjoying a beer while cooking, while expertly formulating his savory stew.
Check out the recipe here: https://munchies.vice.com/en_us/article/z489zy/chicken-and-andouille-sausage-gumb...
just use what ever protein you choose.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAPH8D2AL8c&list=PLQGGrzFoybiODbgicKUBebtlgZDklbh81&ab_channel=Delish I love her videos, they are sooo inspirational.
Senior food producer, June, is challenged with making as many dinners for two people as she can with a $25 budget while living in New York City. And don't worry: this time she included meat in the budget 😅
Watch June's first budget challenge video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfWTLD1LEB0&
Cast iron story: https://www.delish.com/cooking/re...
I can even find most of the stuff she uses here, we have lots of asian markets here.
I'm testing a poolish fermented dough recipe for home made pizza and it turned out AMAZING with this cast iron pizza I made for lunch today!
My brother in space
Is that 2 hardboiled eggs
A few pieces of raw onion
And fried fish(fish looks delicious tho)
I have a cabbage and some carrots, any ideas? Nothing bland please.
I was thinking of using some for dumplings filler but I can't use all of it on that.
Sautéed cabbage and carrots
fried noodles, cabbage, thinly sliced carrots, strips of pork or chicken
Could do that with soy strips I guess.
I'm in a suburb of St Louis and got it all 2 miles from my apartment 😂
at the asian market, and then what they don't have, the international market like 10 miles out has it
Yeah, our closest asian market is like 500 meters away.
since we one ofthe fastest indian growing populations now, got access to that area too. The issue is, so hard to find picanha without going downtown to the Brazilian place who doesn't like to serve non-brazillians. Local market started carrying it under the US name (Sirloin Cap), but it butchered so bad it doesn't even have the full fat cap
We have three asian stores here, though one of them is.. I don't know how to call it, they have a lot of stuff from African countries as well. The closest one if also my favourite so I usually just go there, the owner and me have a lot of common and she's really nice and always suggests how to cook things.
Downtown, 25 minute tram ride away, are lots more places, there is this ammmmmazing Indian owned market I wish I went to more often, they make fresh pastries there too. To die for.
Oh, I just went to google maps to check the one place here if they have better description on their site, apparently we have a fourth local store here!
Oh. It's Russian.

Such tiny portions.
What's the food in the second plate?
I made homemade bolognese / ragu sauce with mushrooms today
Platted with shaved asiago, parmesan and romano cheese
one bite each plate..
maybe two
Everything here makes me so hungry😫😫😫😫
EAT
Well yea it’s small due to its the first part out of 5 on 2 diff days ^^ The second plate is a cheese-spinach-egg casserole
Looks smaller than it actually was ^^
We had this as main part:
Some chicken filet baked in the oven with bacon and vegetables
As desert there was some pistachio cake
whoa
omygoodness that sounds amazing. i love pistachio
i hope.
those are massive plates
Good lookin Pizzas, Paul
Thanks
After these two tests The 12-24 hour fermented dough is our favorite. The 48 hour fermented was a little too yeasty tasting but still delicious
Made Cajun Alfredo tonight
This channel makes me feel poor
Same
It was! I love that cook. He’s mixing Croatian food on lower class with French food PN high class and that mix is perfect

I do a lot of budget cooking!
I don't know why I love it so much
?? 😂
Yep my hour is mor broken than a tunesian car
Anywayz fun food fact: tunesians like burning everything
Like
On the grill the food was catching on fire and the griller dude was like yea this is fine
Haha
My husband does that too, we sometimes just keep turning the stovetops higher and lower in turn when we cook together xD
I have like 50 dollars rn could probably afford 1/2 of your meal
Damn you have to get into a mr beast video man
Fr
Senior food producer, June, is challenged with making as many dinners for two people as she can with a $25 budget while living in New York City. And don't worry: this time she included meat in the budget 😅
Watch June's first budget challenge video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfWTLD1LEB0&

Damn truth teller
I love her videos
They are such inspiration to me, she makes all kinds of foods with her native twist!
Of course, like most of this things, they do require you to have some stuff like oils and spices at hand, which might cost a bit if you don't have and cannot replace
I cant figure out spices and i dont know why
But people still say that the food is good...
Probably out of humbility
Then just follow recipes! I started cooking freely at home when I was 11 and I just figured out spices on the way. My first experiments nearly choked my dad with the spices, but I figured it out! I kinda smell them and see it if it fits
Ok
Experience is the best
Well i can use curry, salt and pepper
But otherwise, eeh
Baking is easier for me
If you don't miss the taste of spices, no need to use them either. Salt and pepper is enough to bring the best tastes out of practically anything
The pizza I recently made cost less than $5 USD per pizza which is cheaper than most frozen pizza and far cheaper than deliver but I guarantee waaay more delicious. Cheap but a little time consuming just to make the dough. Once the dough is made then it takes less than 20 minutes to have hot ready pizza!
Yeah. Cooking yourself can be more expensive or a lot cheaper, mostly just depends on how you decide to make things. Effort and preparation chips of quite a lot of money.
I'd go back to making pizza more often if I had the room to deal with the dough, but eating up space for 48hrs for one pizza is just room I don't have in my fridge at the moment
I just did prep for food for later, made the dumpling dough, cut up cabbage, onions and carrots and shoved them in the oven to roast, and waiting on water to boil for soy chunks now.
And also for pasta, cause we hungry and need more yummy mushroom pasta ASAP, the other stuff is for later tonight.
I should do mushrooms tonight
I still have enough for a couple dishes, my dad brought us a bucketful. Though I will go buy them anyway if I run out 😅
I can make a broth from the stems and some herbs, roast the heads. Do little chicken or pork meatballs, some spinach, orzo
I buy my meatballs frozen these days, those are the only things I've not managed to do well as vegan versions :D Mine turn out soggy everytime.
But the frogen veggie version are soooo good.
Oh that reminds me that I still need to attempt the mushroom teff meatballs for my vegetarian friend
had an idea for that awhile back
Yeah, I gotta try the mushroom kebab too one of these days, or a variation of some kind!
That's not easy to do without adding some chemicals
hard to keep the mushrooms together for it
though, you chould add um...
For the next week we are eating from cupboards and freezer, I sometimes hoard a bit too much stuff and then it's good to just use up a lot of stuff we already have. Planned a whole week ahead and we didn't need to buy anything :D
That's why the variation, I like roll kebabs best anyway, so it doesn't matter if it's not together at all.
I know what I need to do, don't worry. We already had this conversation here on this channel actually :D
Nice. Man, you and your family love those mushrooms.
Kids not so much, they will eat them if served but never ask for.
Yeah, we are poor so that's what we get to use :D
its small but looks nicer than my big cheapo electric one that the apartment complex provides
Also that is a standard size in my country too :D
may I ask what country?
Finland
I'm in Texas USA but soon to be in Washington State USA
What mixer is that? looks real nice too
That is a stand mixer right?
But we rent and this is a city owned apartment, so it's never gonna be fancy.
The item on the left above the red cutting board
It's a crappy kitchen aid thingy, mistake purchase from a few years back. It's big, it's clumsy, and the only thing really working is the dough bowl.
oooh 😥
I have a 30 year old food processor that I bought used that is like 300 times better, I usually use that one but this one has the big dough bowl.
Someone gave me a pricey looking Kitchen Aid a few years ago when I started to bake a lot. Used it once then went back to my Kenwood one.
Heh, only give them the illusion of options, eh.
Well they can eat one piece of mushroom if they choose to, we put stuff on the table in bowls so everyone can eat what they want.
I only have 2 rules at the table: Taste everything and never say food if bad even if you don't like it.
I even totally sold them on a theory I once read somewhere, that you need to taste stuff 5 bites before your taste buds are used to it and you know if you like it or not. And they also always eagerly try stuff again in a few months cause tastes change.
Dammit, I just ate but watching these food videos for inspiration makes me just want to cook and eat all day long :D
Hahah, that is genius! Nice.
A delicious rabbit hole. Go down into it, Alice.
Mm need some cold coffee before starting game.
We had a Texas special today barbacoa tacos and big red soda. It's a local weekend traditional food. It's good but nothing I'll miss once I move.
I almost feel like I can tell what area of texas you from from that style 😂
San Antonio 🤠👍
wow I was off
I was thinking down in Starr County somewhere
Been here 11 years and so happy we are leaving in 6 months and so help me God I hope we never return. Hate the weather, hate the allergies, hate the drivers, and it boggles my brain how locals think so highly of food that is mediocre at best and even if they try something more flavorful they prefer their blah
yeah that like not anywhere near close to what you should expect for Barbacoa, that like New Yorkers living in Texas trying to make it
Going to miss the friends we have here but won't miss Texas at all
or more like Massechutes trying to make it
I liked Austin, I have friends in Dallas, that about ait
i'm an east coaster at herat
heart*
The bbq Texas style is awesome but because it's so expensive I just make it myself
Everything we've experienced in Austin can be found on the west coast without the hellish heat and humidity
you can do quick pickled red onions in less than an hour start to finish btw
Indeed ☺️
great way to get them when you want them and forgot to make them ahead of time
Even though we don't like Big red soda we are taking a couple cases when we move to let friends in WA state taste it cause can't get it there
I haven't had good ones in years though (barbacoa)
It's definitely unique
if you up in Seattle or Bellingham area you can for sure
Oh really I been away from that area for 15 years things changed
Yeah, international markets are a dime a dozen now
and my cousin I know drinks it in Bellingham
Well then no need to make space for it then hahaha
well bring some just in case, who knows with supply chain issues
I don't think this qualify as tortillas anymore, but that's what the kids are having!
With pinapple.
Got them at the boba shop but, still food. Fried BBQ buns
Fried bbq buns? Definitely an interesting word combo
I've only ever had them steamed but now I'm very interested in finding a place that fries them!
They are one of my favorite things steamed so I can imagine these must be amazing.
Wannabe chicken
I have so much random stuff in my kitchen I want to use, but they are such a random selection, that I can't think of stuff. Maybe I'll try that recipe generator.
This is the pizza I'm used to
“Haaaaaaaaam!”
-Ponyo
Yeah, that's for the kids. I haven't had much pizza since I stopped eating meat, cause ham and kebab were kind of my favourite fillings :D And I haven't done much experimenting. This place is so good tho, that sometimes I just order one with just sauce, cheese and pinapple. Worth.
Might need to start testing. Everyone praises broccoli in pizza, might try it.
nice. yeah i think i’ve liked the times when i had broccoli on pizza
I could see it working if it's kinda roasted, not sure about soggy.
I have an Italian friend who would have a melt down if he ever saw pineapple on pizza. He considers himself a pizza purest. @zinc dust that looks amazing I'd eat the entire thing myself 😊
I like broccoli but I'm not gonna intentionally put it on my pizza. Simple pepperoni and or sausage bell pepper, onion, mushrooms,. Pineapple and ham. Olives maybe, anchovies maybe but that is my extent of pizza toppings and of course not all at the same time
These aren't italian pizzas :) They're turkish.
From earlier today. Family cookout
This will eventually be out and have pineapple on it
Weeee
Well. It already has pineapple. Just not on this side
Does anyone else have a need to "clean the cupboards" and use up all the stuff just taking up space?
would be cool to have a hivemind with the process, helping with ideas of the random mysteries we find :D
we did that this past weekend. We have a couple different cupboards that we store specific things in such as one dedicated to all asian spices and ingredients, another for frequently used spices and ingredients, and another for dried ingredients for baking and such
we went through the asian and baking cupboards and got rid of tons of stuff as it was either expired or what ever the case was.
You could do that in one weekend? Whoa, respect. I probably have stuff for weeks.
Oh, sorry, I didn't fully read, you got rid of it.
Yeah I want to avoid that, which is why I need to start getting creative!
Ice cream slabs are always visually appealing
Sushi sandwiches
That... is genius.
That’s something… new
First time hearing about sushi sandwiches and I’m intrigued
Its basically sushi for people who cant roll their sushi
Its about the same size as an ENTIRE roll, but it definitely felt bigger
you ever see the original sashimi? HUGE. Looks like a filet almost over rice
average sushi roll
The one of the left is a recreation of the edo period
And the right is modern?
a huge part of it though is because back then, they basically brought it with them and was easier to bring big pieces
What nodle called
Chicken shawarma
I would post a blasphemy gif here, but don't remember if gifs were allowed on this channel.
I beg to differ! Fresh egg noodle is best..
Although who am I kidding, the best noodle to me is udon. I LOVE udon
Agreed
Spaghetti and noodles are fundamentally different
The Italian government says so
They passed a law saying spaghetti and other pastas have to be made with a certain type of flour, meaning anything made without that is a noodle
Idk I find that funny
I don’t care what the Italian government says, it looks like a noodle, feels like a noodle, and tastes like a noodle. Therefore, it’s a noodle.
That's fair enough
But.. spaghetti does not feel like a noodle at all, unless you horribly overcook it 😅
The density is so different
You are a noodle.
That is the conclusion
Your father
😕
udon still the best noodle, human family members are not noodles
yes!!!!
I tried to make fudge. It's like the most basic recipe.
And I still failed.
As my mum will keep repeating, I didn't follow the recipe properly.
Fellas, I'm never going to make it as an adult.
got pics?
Unfortunately no. Just imagine a smelly yellow liquid with too much butter in
And it was grainy for some reason
But basically it told me to boil then simmer. So I boiled it, simmered, then realised nothing was happening so I boiled it again :/
It didn't burn or anything, it just wasn't doing what it was supposed to.
Honestly I should never be allowed to cook. My last cake looked like a flat Yorkshire pudding and it tasted stale :(
I feel that. It takes a lot more practice for people like us.
What is this blasphemy about too much butter
@coral mantleyour cooking issues, both of them, sound a lot like what I used to have, so I ask, do you use cold eggs in your cooking? Sometimes eggs can be too cold and it will ruin everything, you can warm them up in warm water for a bit and try if that changed anything.
our eggs are put in a fridge,we never have problems except having to clean them bc our chickens dont exactly lay just eggs…
sooo cold isn’t a problem for us
That's why I said sometimes. Your eggs might not get as cold as others or your room temp warms them up fast enough.
yea,you got a point
That shawarma looks goooood. Hope they gave enough toum.
Some delicious crescent rolls. Or they would have been if they didnt cook for an extra 20 minutes
So sad, but they look so delicious
Kerala prawn curry w/ coconut milk
where's the teleportation device, Donna. gosh darnit!
I partially know what might have happened- you overcooked the chocolate, and that caused it to sieze and make the grainy texture. With chocolate: low and slow is the way to go!
Temperatures and powdered sugar?
Mashed potatoes from regular and sweet potatoes, one was purple. Sauce is caramelized onions and these pea protein strips, mix of spices and oatcream. It was a bit weird in colors but good.
Oh 😮
Yummy yummy yummy in mah tummeh
why do i like goat vindaloo so much

Air fried cauliflower wings use an almond flour as the the outside like the shell or whatever and a slice of Edom cheese
Hameggeddon 🤯
Is that a cookie?
Chocolate and Peanut butter fudge
I made ricotta myself and now I'm going to make some kind of gnocchi broccoli creamy curry sauce thingy, with homemade tortillas or whatever that dough wants to turn into.
I'm using purple sweet potato among other things for the gnocchi so colors will be interesting :D
cake for mother’s birthday and brownies cus i love brownies
I saw only the second image and thought it was a really badly made steak 😂😂
My first time cooking, made egg fried rice with barbecued garlic prawns and I am quite proud of my self
looks scrummy!
yes
that’s how a grilled cheese should look
i want to lightly tap the crust with a fork
It would tap back
@tired stump did you use mayo on the bread?
Just butter this time but I have done mayo
yummy, not well versed in grilled cheese lore, what’s the soup you made with it?
it is a potato leek soup
ooh
Nothing I cooked, but something I’m thoroughly enjoying.
Here’s some food:
Detroit style, done in glass because I don’t have any metal pans handy, used a high hydration focaccia style dough, autolyse, mix to gluten formation, wet fold x4 twice during 90 min rise, decent oil in the pan, authentic brick cheese on the right, non-dairy cheese on the left. Crumb was proper, every slice consumed.
i'd like to play frisbee with those and catch them in my mouth
I liquified a chicken and turned it into soup
homegrown and homemade tomato sauce with air fried chicken and green beans
What was in the middle
nothing
I got a "contains blocked content" from trying to put a corgi gif as a reaction to the delicious apple tarts! 😂
Oh wait, were gifs not okay here?
No and it’s my fault lol
I used to do the same thing
Lol
Butter parmesan noodles
I wish I could eat those
Yum!
Im addicted to pudding
I decided to try a new recipe. No eggs, just a suspension of cornstarch, sugar, water, disolved tell completely clear almost
then add milk and butter
then berry jam
You end up with this divine almost jello like texture. Must continue experimenting!
Weird panna cotta
Yeah, of sorts
I let it come to a pudding stage
then steam it
Im just taking ideas from other recipes and fusing as I do often
ITS ME
I vote you do a nickname here for no-mans-fry 😄
Damn, I keep making food and forget to take a picture!
Made more gnocchi. Definitely want to keep making more, different kinds.

Thinking of adding harissa to a soup
It's vegetable based but I'm not so sure how much I should add
o7
It's more colourful in person
Basically changed a minestrone recipe around
But put too much pasta in lol
Good though?
Yeah it's the best soup I've made, loved it!
