I feel like I haven't shared much art here lately. I got a new phone recently (upgraded S9+ to S23U), so now i have an actual stylus instead of "fingerpainting" lol...marginal improvement tho if im being honest.

I did this one pretty quick as a demo to my mom. I think most of it was done in like 20 minutes or so, then i spent way too much time trying to get the mist over the mountain effect. One of these days I'll figure out a proper work flow.

I tend to just do a new landscape portrait when I want to try another feature, so this was after I saw some asperitas clouds. I really didn't do it justice, so I recommend looking up example photos, theyre really cool. Its like ocean waves of clouds.

I'll say straight-up, this was inspired by a google image search result that I can't find anymore. I think I was just trying to relearn some minimalist techniques (separate foggy hill gradients) but I went a little off course with the clouds.

Sorry for the art dump 😅, been so busy irl that I haven't spent much time on the server lately.

I think this’ll help solve the neck/no neck debate, because I’m done with the rest of the design, just need to settle on what I like more. Also, an image of the item this character is based on, it floats and some of the pieces look like static.

I say this because I’m getting a majority of no neck, but those who like the neck have some nice points with it.

Its an Interstellar Travel Vechile for a fictional race I made in my imagination , inspired by the ISVs from Avatar

The lore is that warp drives in this universe need a warp gate in the system they warp to as a beacon that tells the warp drive where to warp .
You cant explore new systems without warp gates , you need to get there with an actual vechile first .

They usually travel in a fleet , with a warp gate traveling with them as well

This is what this vechile is for

Oh and if youre wondering , those 2 transport ships at the front are comparable to earth's largest cruise ship in size .
In fact , this thing is supossed to carry 4 transport ships but I didnt have enough paper to make a drawing THAT long

Ships can also be equiped with warp drives , but they need a gate as a beacon for the warp engine to lock on , because planets and stars are always moving .

The range of the warp drive/gate may be limited by what technology they use communicate . Depending on tech , changing the destination of a warp drive or gateway can have a delay or limited range

The (inter planetary transporter/explorer vechile) IPTEV - 42 "Galileo" is a large fictional spacecraft made for transporting a large ammount of cargo and people and exploration missions between different planets (or solar systems with access to a warp gate)

The Galileo also works with the ISV (interstellar travel vechile #no-mans-art message ) to discover new systems without a warp gate .

The ship can achieve VTOL by using gravity manipulation . Gravity manipulators are also used to make artifical gravity in space .

I definitely learned a lot from it! I started with a different idea in mind but got wicked frustrated with the base coat (it was originally gonna be midnight blue), so I just let the base dry, grabbed the airbrush, and kind of started over lol.
Other lesson I learned was to not paint in the 36F garage. Had to keep thinning down the airbrush pot to keep things flowing. Also, airbrushing with craft paints was not ideal, I need to get actual airbrush paints so I don't have to spend so much time getting each color thinned correctly.

The reflection in the water came out way better than I thought it would. Stars aren't perfectly reflected, but I was using a combo of flicked brush and airbrush spatter to get them on there in the first place

look into learning procedural shaders, they'll look a lot better than general pbrs

i like the usage of (maybe?) backface for outlines (cant think of a compositing trick that would outline the inside of the engines lol) and the color blocking is reeally good
