I have a rough idea for each of the cards, but i also search the card's symbols and meaning as i do them (i initially knew pretty much nothing about Tarot lol) so each idea is pretty much subject to change

I also try to fit the lore or gameplay into the card's meaning as much as i can, currently the idea I have for Death is a traveler grave surrounded by Bio horrors

As far as meaning goes, i found from my research that the "Death" card is actually not that bad, it means the end of something, but also the transition to something else and can a positive card

the Tower though....

When you see the Tower that's when you can freak out, it's supposed to mean chaos, upheaval, sudden change... that's where you're supposed to fear death of loved ones and stuff like that

and i kid you not, it fits really well with the NMS universe because it's the card number 16

Any suggestions on what to use to edit pics for the latest Rainbow Sky category? I download my screenshots onto an iPad but I’ve never done any editing, just use the in game filters
I personally use Gimp, a powerful image editing application (sort of like Photoshop) on Windows, since it's free and available on most PC platforms. No clue what to use on iPad although I'm sure there are tons of free apps available. I think there are multiple apps Photoshop (Adobe) makes available that are free to use in part but they may restrict the outputted image quality if you don't pay for their upgrade subscription (example PS Express).

In case anyone else has suggestions, I thought some of you in this channel could help too Please ping @dusty sierra with suggestions. Ty.

I do want to print them when i'm done but i don't know how long that'll take, i've done 14 out of the 22 major cards, and then there's the 56 other minor cards lol (although i don't think i'll make them as detailed so it should be faster)

I want to print at least two decks, one for me and one to send at hello games, i'd gladly make more for other people but i don't know how that would work legally

Like, i'm not really planning on making a profit out of them, but i'd still need to take money to cover the cost of printing and shipping and i don't know if i can do that without hello game's approval 🤔

This is a WIP.
I watched a greyscale art tutorial on youtube and the guy in the tutorial was drawing a Michelangelo statue as an example for his tutorial and I’m trying the same with another classical statue which depicts the Greek Goddes Athena.

This is the reference image of a replica of the statue (I thought this one was more suitable for greyscale practice than the original because the original was pretty yellowed). I drew it without using a grid.

I guess you don't know, it's sort of spoiler material but during the 2020 weekend mission storyline ||Ariadne went missing, later we discovered that their ship crashed and they were taken by the Abyss and replaced by some impostor entity.|| ||That entity has been lying to the rest of the anomaly guys and posing as Ariadne ever since, and we still don't know why they infiltrated the space anomaly or why they were sending people to feed materials to the Abyss.|| ||We also don't know what happened to the real Ariadne||

That's why i put them as the Devil 😉

The anomaly missions have story?

Not anymore but they had for a short period of time, it was kind of like a story expedition before expeditions were a thing. I think they did two seasons of those ? each lasting around 2 months. During that time each week you had to go speak to a specific character in the anomaly, and they would progress an evolving story. Some characters in the anomaly would go missing for a week, then come back the next to explain what they found, and that's when the things i mentioned about Ariadne happened

My attempt to recreate one of the ancient sites from the game. It was modeled in VR with the app Gravity Sketch on my Quest 2.

I'm guessing you wanted the character to stand straight, but it feels like the body is slightly tilted to their left while their head is slightly tilted to the right, it's like they're doing a soft Jojo pose while shooting if that makes sense x)

I have a dilema about "The Star" card. The original card represents a woman pouring something in water. So i wanted to hint at ||The Void Mother whispering from the abyss|| with a shadowy woman behind a corrupted sentinel, but i'm unsure if that's too out of place for NMS since that kind of imagery doesn't exist at all in the game 🤔 So i have like two versions for the card and don't know which one to keep. What do you guys think ?

The void mother is always compared to a whisper in the dark, or something like that, so i didn't want to make her have any physicality, just a faint silhouette or illusion to represent that she's there. the underwater thingy is too physical 🤔

I might go for the hologram idea, or try to add a glitch effect although i don't know how i would do that lol

Concept of “Space Encounter” in NMS : ) Star Leviathan extracts all water from rich systems. It simply functions as a funnel and leaves planet uninhabitable. When it wanders around galaxies, it spreads spores on other planets - this way we can encounter those anomalies that looks like parasites and fungi.

It was a great option for me to get me into digital art and I’ve really enjoyed using it but I’d like to branch out a bit more and see what other programs have to offer. Trying to avoid subscriptions and such though yknow for $10 you get so much out of it. I do agree tho sometimes it’s not really all that intuitive to use

True. I can recommend Artstudio Pro if you like photoshop. But I’m also using Clip studio paint, but mostly to add lettering for comic etc x)

Thanks, I'm indeed on a Wacom lol, I guess I'm getting the hang of it now but at the beginning it was really hard to get used to not seeing the drawing directly connected to my hand if you see what I mean, which is why I was thinking about buying a tablet with a screen at some point

If you have funds for ipad or something similar, go for it - I draw a lot more when I know that I can do it anywhere.

I started off sketching on paper, tried Krita on a laptop, then eventually settled on the ipad pro (occasionally do non-digital stuff tho, ofc ). I really love using it for digital art, there’s definitely a learning curve anytime you go from one medium or platform to another but for me it’s a great fit. It’s light and portable and easy to manage, IME

I thought about something.
I came to the idea of a picture of an Anomaly race traveler sitting in the landingbay of his frighter und is putting out all of his upgrades with a screwdriver. All the Upgrades are in this light thing in the middle of his chest wich is ploppet out so That you Can reach the srews. In the background is a verry damaged ship with just the nessessary thech still running.
So he is prepareing himself to trevel to the next Galaxy. I dont know Why i thought of this or if this allready exist somewere on the Internet. I just think its a cool idea. I cant draw so I thought this would be a good place for this Idea

i did a no man's sky cross stitch 🥹 pattern was self-drafted based on the nada decal, and the fabric was dyed by me. this is only my second self-drafted pattern so i'm super proud of it, and i'm confident that i'll be doing more NMS projects in the future!

For this thing I wanted a professional print, with a box and book and metalic effects and stuff, like something you could actually buy in a store

but right now i don't plan on selling them, just make a deck for myself and one for hello games, but printing only two is super expensive, prices go down the more decks you order

For what I want the price range would be ~70~100€ per deck including shipping, so i'm looking around if i can get professional printers near where I live to reduce the cost 🤔

Thrax' biomechanical suit is getting a little redesign. Especially the head/crest area. Thrax is a "scout-class" Harvester (I will explain more about those "scouts" later on. It's a class that I made up myself) and I wanted them to stand out a little more from the classic alien pilots.

I practiced creating realistic hair, eyebrows and even eyelashes in Nomad Sculpt. This app doesn't have a simulated hair or fibermesh option, like Blender and ZBrush, but in Nomad you are able to create a very similar effect using planes with modified textures. You can even groom the hair in place!

As for 2D art, I just finished this. Harvester Queen from Independence Day.

The biggest challenge is probably that a lot of the shaping is very intricate which makes it difficult to recreate at this scale, especially since I’m going for as close as possible to a 1:1 recreation. I’m also only using spare parts so if I had access to any pieces I wanted it would be much easier

I started with the cockpit first since I’m making it to scale with a figure, so starting there really set the scale. A big tip I have is to just focus on one section at a time and make it as good as possible before moving on, in the long run it makes for a better final product

Like this seems like a small build but I’ve spent at least 10 hours combined on it over the last few days just designing and redesigning to get it just how I want it
