Eh...it's not that bad as how I portrayed...it works out well for game purposes.
But the worst part is the handling...
In MW, any car could be your work-horse and beat the fastest cars of the game.
Carbon = cars separated into 3 tiers on 2 co-ordinates.
One is tuner/muscle/exotic.
Other is performance...your T1 car is limited to low upgrades and low performance...
Which means you're forced to buy faster cars rather than take your Golf GTi against Darius' Audi Le Mans Quattro.
And, of course...handling's ruined. in MW, the Viper, for example...RWD, high power, low grip...
But...you could still drive it.
Carbon = stereo-types...muscles always burn out no matter what.
And drifting corners = suicide.
OTOH, grip tyres won't even let you slide properly.
Like magnet boots on a metal ship.
They also mis-labelled the handling bars, so over-steer = under-steer and vice-versa...at least on PC.
No round ring-road to drive for hours on, unlike MW...
Roads aren't smooth...all turns end up abrupt. Short-cuts are designed to flow, but don't work well enough unless you've practiced a lot.

Black Box became 'unprofitable' (Carbon was the last well-received game)...ProStreet was ridiculed for no cops and 'bad' handling...Undercover was shit on for 'bad story' and so on...'The Run' was their last game...again, for 'bad character/story/car handling'...
So they 're-booted' NFS with HP 2010...that apparently was great (and sold great too)...so everything was handed over to Criterion, since they made HP 2010.
Of course, MW 2012 was hated by people for not holding true to the original MW, Rivals was hated for 'bad characters and story and handling' (again)...2015 was another re-boot, but...not that great.
Payback didn't have open-world cops, and as usual, haters for characters and story...
And upgrades being loot-boxes.
