Quick update: I was able to track down the issue in the driver and write up a fix. I misunderstood the comment above as I assumed it was data collected on a Pascal-class GPU. The problem is actually that Vulkan doesn't advertise compressed DRM format modifiers, which means Gamescope doesn't either, which means Xwayland also doesn't when running on Gamescope, which in turn confuses our GLX driver when running on this configuration, as it was expecting both compressed and uncompressed modifiers to be available when running on Xwayland.
