So. I started disco elysium today. Holy shit there's a lot of voice acting....and it's very good voice acting. I don't know how it progresses as I'm only a few minutes in but so far, very strong sense of setting

I enjoy the dice rolling that effects the outcome of events. I can see that pissing me off, but at the same time adding some flavor.

Perfection is never guaranteed. It humanizes the character.

How long did it take to get to taming animals?

Is that a technology thing?

Most animals require you knock them out and feed them berries or meat while they're unconscious to tame them, and depending on your settings and the animal you can just punch one out if you really want. Like, you can easily punch out a dodo but good luck trying that on a rex or raptor 😆

With higher tech tiers comes more efficiency. First thing you unlock for taming is tranq arrows for bows and crossbows, then later after you have basic firearms you can craft tranq darts that knock things out faster than arrows

Much much later after you've gotten modern tech you can make cattle prods on steroids that'll zap a mfer out 😆

-Tranq arrows have less toxin on them and do more actual damage, so they're not great to use on smaller/weaker creatures
-Tranq darts have more toxin and do less damage, but the first rifle you get is only single-shot and takes forever to reload so it's generally only good to use the darts on weaker creatures
TLDR; Use arrows on bigger creatures that don't care about damage cuz crossbows are faster, use darts on weak or slow creatures cuz the reload takes a while

There's different work stations you can build that make doing things in larger quantities easier (industrial grill cooks ridiculous amounts of meat fast af, the big-ass smelter melts metal into bars hella quick) but you still have to go shove materials into them

And shit like bullets that require materials from separate stations? Good luck

You'll still be using a mortar and pestle to make gunpowder for the first shitty firearms, lol

Here's the process for making tranq darts:

1. Make gunpowder with charcoal (get it from any source of fire)+sparkpowder (combine flint and stone) at your mortar and pestle.
2. Make narcotics (combine rotten meat and narcoberries). Also with your mortar and pestle.
3. Make metal bars out of metal ore you've mined by using your medieval af refining forge
4. Bring the gunpowder and metal bars to your smithy and make bullets
5. Bring your narcotics to your smithy and combine with bullets to make darts

Best to make all these materials in large quantities when possible. Makes life easier

But overall it was a lacking and soulless game. Amazon doesn't really know anything about gamedev. They just hired a bunch of devs to fill specific criteria. It was basically just checking the boxes for what's addictive/trending in these type of games

ark and minecraft < vanilla sucks but modded is awesome

i usually make custom Ark server and boost the mobs levels to 1200 , and carry weight easier
add some quality of life mods like compass and extra buildings etc... , its tons more fun when game is many times harder

I kinda took a break around the time Sister of Parvos came out so I have tons to catch up on. Already did the New War and been working on getting all those new weapons and have Caliban building
