They're very....programmed

The world looks nice. The NPC feel very plastic.

It would be easy to forget the world if one were to just follow the narrative and limit exposure to the nuts and bolts

I tried to get back into cyberpunk some time ago. I couldn't. I wasn't feeling it. Beyond the annoying bugs and glitches, the secondary story that the world represents is poorly realised.

Sure they made a nice playground, but I saw no reason for the social cuts that defined different regions. Some were impoverished looking, but lacked any real indication why. I wanted to feel something for the world I was exploring to motivate me in trying to fight against something and ended up instead murdering homeless people and drug addicts.

I can't imagine the game really getting any better.

It would require them to have done better from the start.

I remember buying this game as a teenager called Propher and Assasin 2: Secrets of Alamut
the cover looked cool

and the description on the back was pretty cool as well about how you are notorious that even your enemies fear you and how it is a story of revenge and etc.
Basically, MC is a crusader knight who had turned into a bandit, but after a while started regretting it and looking for salvation. He hears about this prophet who founded a city in a desert where all kinds of people can live together and find forgiveness for their sins. So he goes there and finds the city is half-dead and the prophet abandoned it. So now MC decides to go on a quest to find and kill the prophet for giving him false hope.
Actually all of this happened in the first game, but the shop only had the second (which is the one I got) where the guy looks for the prohet
unfortunately the gameplay itself was kinda shit, it was basically a walking simulator without actual walking and with a bunch of puzzles everywhere

I got stuck on one of the puzzles when I played it but recently looked up the game on youtube to find out how it all ends

anyway, trying to come to terms with the shitty plot in the game I came upon its wikipedia page and it mentions that it was reviewed by Masha Arimanova from GAME.EXE
it was one of few gaming magazines I would get my hands on on a few occasions, which was basically the only way to find out about games for me back then
I remember reading it as a teenager and it would often times feel weird cause the text authors would start going on long purple prosed tangents about society and etc. and at times I could barely find any actual info about the game
I thought I just was too low iq at the time but in recent years I learned that the mag is actually notorious for it, it was basically an /r/iamverysmart of gaming mags

The reviewers were interesting characters too, like there was some "Mr. P.G." who looked like an old guy with santa beard and he kept going on random tangents about how computers were in 60s and 70s and shit
and Masha Arimanova would be the one who reviewed basically all Adventure Games. Actually I got a bunch of them after seeing those reviews. Oftentimes tho it would feel like she is just typing up her weird fantasy/fanfiction about the game and not how the game actually is
But yeah, going back to more recent years, apparently all these weird characters, including Masha Arimanova and Mr. P.G. were fake people, and one or two of the staff writers would just write under their names and even editor wouldn';t know about it till much later (edited)
Most interestingly, that Masha character was created after the only actual female writer quit the mag staff. The two male writers talked about themselves how point-and-click adventure games are "female stuff" and started writing reviews from that fake name, even chaging writing style (like they did for other characters). They even illegally donwloaded pictures of some hungarian american porn star (SFW pictures) and put them in the magazine pretending it is what Masha Arimanova looks like

I play(ed) SC, I enjoyed it for what it is. Graphically it's unbeatable, very beautiful.
Bugs are horrendous and piss me off to the point of rage quitting and get this, I've bought zero ships since my initial purchase.

After closer examination, it looks like a problem that was just bound to happen based on how it was assembled.

The clip that holds the spacebar button in was rotated in the wrong position. It was designed to sit a specific way so as to avoid the support bar nicking it after use

I rotated it 90 degrees and now it no longer sticks at all.
