Its interesting, the part about character attachment, due to availability though, I could counter is beneficial

paid for or not.

Since the character model limits what you can have, what you have always feels valuable. Whether its paid for or not.

The choice to invest into a character is purely a choice. Even if you dont, your characters can still play through and win the game and as long as your rationale enough, your at no risk to gamble.

Of course going into Genshin with a rationale emotional state may be why I can enjoy it the way I do, without falling prey to any of the necessarily predatory practice. THAT is a issue for those aren't rationale .. which is where I am not so keen to recommend the game to many

Id say overall , the games a solid 8 out of 10 for me enjoyment wise though.

It's so hard to recommend longer games, or even long series to folks, but for different reasons

Didn't play Genshin for much of the same reasons he illustrated. But primarily I'm just not attracted to gacha games in and of themselves.

I guess Genshin just drew me in for .. well a lot of reasons

it was easy to sit for 20 mins, play it, and not feel the need to continue to play

I hated games like Wow, which drew you in and rewarded giving up your life

Whereas Genshin really doesnt do that

Like I like the art style, the open world and just the chill vibes it exudes. What really borks it for me is the whole gacha aspect

The gacha for me, was shit, spending

BUT

the random character selection, I loved

its a odd one for sure

I like not having power over the characters

I have to admit, now that Im back into kerbals, its had a pretty crazy impact

Fortunately at 41, I have self control I didnt all those years ago

The only thing I reliably play nowadays is NMS

Crossniq+ is get same color tiles vertically/horizontally to form a cross to score, Mixolumia is matching up symbols in diamonds or further along to score, and Equaline is crossing tiles with numbers & maths operators to equal the given value 😂

it's definitely fun combat, though very stylized and more simple. almost kinda hack n' slashy. I'd say one of the best things so far is just how you traverse the map

I never got to play Breath of the Wild, but the climbing and the verticality of everything seems very inspired by it
