windows users have tested using it to run older d3d[9,10] games (on vulkan then) and they get better performance like that

save slight changes/modifications, distros are running on Linux, so most things will make sense

/home is the folder that will contain the user home folders

if you create a different partition for it, separate from the system files partition (what we call the root partition), you can format the root and bootloader partitions without fear of loosing any user data

when installing the new system

you just skip the step of formatting it, and simply mount it in the new distro as the home partition

so if i were to install another distro

this partition would be left untouched, and on the new install, i'd just create a user called bk201

the system will allow me to reuse the same "bk201" folder that was from the previous distro

i might need to chown or chmod to make sure permissions are correct and such, but other than that, all i need is to reinstall my programs again, even their config files will be there already, and they will start with same config options i had in the other distro

once you wrap your head around partitions, partition tables, why do you need them for - the choice will be easy

most distros will have a main partition (the equivalent to a C: drive on windows)

then a user home folder partition (equivalent maybe to a second hdd, D: , used for games, documents, media, etc, on Windows)

home folders can also be thought of user folders in windows, like C:\Documents and Settings<username>\

thing is windows puts all of this in the same folder

same disk

there's no way to tell it, look, all the data created by this user goes in where i want it to

which could be a different folder, or a different harddrive

Arch Linux simply leaves all of this up to you

you can do incredibly easy setups

with just 2 partitions

or even just 1

a single / , main OS partition

that will have everything inside it, including homefolder data

though this means that distro hopping is much more time consuming

which is why most people will have a partition mounted as /home

the partition itself becomes the folder

to the OS, /home is just another folder

sd[a-z] is the designation for all hard drives

first connected becomes sda

second connected sdb , and so on

the number after it, sda1, means it's the first partition on the first disk

when you create a partition, programs won't be able to use it just yet

just like on Windows

you need to format it and mount it for the system to access it

in Linux, there's not 2 or 3 filesystems, there's dozens

vfat there is fat32 filesystem, needed for UEFI bios to boot, and this becomes the bootloader partition

so yeah, having all of your files in a different partition, like you would save your documents/media on a D: drive, to avoid having to backup files to an external hard drive or something

If you are I have my ghost clan i took over from a personal friend that is as of now, researching the last of all the stuff with the one exception of colors

i started on ps4 a few years back, but then went on a break for indefinite time. most of my clan mates stopped playing before i did. i don't have the will to go through levelling again, plus i got a lot of gear on that ps4 warframe account, not to mention cosmetics, tennogen stuff, i've even invested in the game buying prime access/prime accessory packs etc. i haven't started playing on pc because i want to transfer my old save to PC - i've only considered that possibility when DE talked about it in a dev stream. and this was already before i stopped playing, so the first time they mentioned it must have been at least a couple of years ago

i was really into clans and stuff

like, into "warframe clans"

One is kinda soft- it's a minefield but if you're on a mongoose you can outrun the explosions within a certain boundary

I’m already guilty of bringing Tali for a lot of the missions I’ve gone through, how can I not, I like Tali, but I made sure to diversify the teams for missions when the time comes

Still, makes me wonder why out of all the characters, it was Tali that got my attention and ended as one of my favorites so far, and that’s tough competition when you’re in a game where Garrus and Wrex exists

Not sure if anyone here is into fantasy RP stuff, but in-case you are, I just discovered this incredible Skyrim multiplayer server called Tales From Nirn. https://talesfromnirn.com/ is the link to their site, it's incredible and I highly recommend you give it a shot, installing all the mods is actually pretty smooth and I've only frozen my game once in like 20 hours of playing on it. Really really cool if you like Skyrim but wanted to do it with other folks/have it in a realistic version without fasttravel and easy leveling and stuff like that.
