guy has, uh, definitely declined a TON since stuff like Firefly (though apparently he's always been something of a dick)
The cozy style of starship
what game?
Outer Wilds
also, star wars squadrons is -50% off this weekend, imo, its more than worth the price
Oooh too bad I already got it 😖
Outer Wilds is super chill exploration, lovely game style
Got so many weird things to find its like "I wonder what's over here"
...wonder if I can run it because that aesthetic is nice

Its a game I actually waited years for
And was 200% of what I was hoping for
I waited almost a decade for Diablo 3 and then they insult me by not including Necro in it until an update years later
Q.Q
now to check if it will run on my fancy potato
Found a new place on the starter planet yesterday by being reckless
I can run it on min specs xD
Also maybe maybe not got launched off a stellar body along with my ship and by the time I turned around it was 8km away
And as I chased after it I got pulled down into the sun
i do wonder what the unreleased diablo 3 was like.. cause the devs of diablo 2 did have there own diablo 3 they were working on before it was cancelled and production handed off to another team
@cinder vessel if you're ever curious btw https://amp.reddit.com/r/outerwilds/comments/e5s520/wow_i_just_found_the_original_alpha_build_not_the/

so
it may be because im semi addicted to this game recently, but this is a really good deal, i suggest giving it a try
watching Raya and The Last Dragon. It's pretty good so far. They picked the perfect voice actor for the dragon.
@winter yew Is that show on Netflix?
no, its a Disney+ thing
On March 5, join Raya on her quest to find the last dragon. See Disney’s Raya and the Last Dragon in theaters or order it on Disney+ with Premier Access on March 5. Learn more: http://disney.com/raya

Outer Wilds makes me "no no waaaaaiittttt!!!!" a lot haha
I'm waiting for that Disney movie to leave Disney+ Premium so I don't have to pay $30 for it 😬
A developer behind Control says making games at a cross-generational point "sucks," and that resource and tools challenges are why next-gen games aren't blowing us away yet. https://t.co/Z75UHziYJl

Were you burning retrograde?
On the one hand while it's certainly more challenging making a cross generational game for lack of technology - If you pull it off, your game, your company and the profile of your developers turn into god damn superstars.
Look at how insanely popular Notch got after Minecraft.
Minecraft became the ancestor of every voxel game since
Just make your game so well-tuned that it can be easily modified to run at 60 FPS on basically anything including Switch, lol (DOOM Eternal)
Easily one of the most well-optimized games I've ever seen
To be fair, Doom Eternal has an advantage not a lot of games get....
His name is John Carmack
Lol
The man is a fucking genius in development
I hope CDPR have something up their sleeves for next week because damn that cutesy blog post they did has not been well received
id is insanely good at optimization. They helped optimize the new Wolfenstein games too
I don't think CDPR could possibly know how horribly they're burning their futures down, by not fixing cyberpunk quickly.
It's not like fan bois aren't paying attention to this, for when Witcher 4 comes out
Even if it only creates hesitancy for a small percentage of buyers, that's a huge hit
I don't understand how they can go from releasing the witcher 3 and all it's DLC to cyberpunk
It's like two different studios
They physically can't fix it faster. Their devs have been crunching for over a year at this point (or two, if you believe Schreier). They'd have to replace their entire team with fresh faces
It's almost like Cyberpunk was the brain child of a child brain.
So the developers are burned out.
Not surprised, honestly.
As far as I'm aware their devs teams haven't even gotten a holiday after release cuz of the patches they've been trying to put out
Pretty sure everyone there has been ran into the ground at this point trying to release then fix that abomination of a game two years earlier than planned
This is what happens when your devs are great at coding but horrible at keeping notes....
I once worked on a game as a level designer and got a peek at the notes in the code left for future developers...They were cryptic af...
Expecting people to update code using cryptic notes in a mess of spaghetti code...
I think calling it an issue with code quality is oversimplifying it a bit
Yum
At this point it's clearly a design/management failure
I don't disagree.
Things like the poor police AI isn't bad coding, its an affirmative decision to implement it like that
The shit has piled up so high it's virtually going uphill now.
I applaud Sony for telling em to fuck off and removing it from the PS Store, that was beautiful
I think Sony took a calculated risk removing it. Something tells me they knew what the code must be like for it to have been released in this state...which takes a considerable eye for integrity
Like, yeah your window has water damage on it...but uh, that means the water damage is in the wall, which could mean the wood is rotted out or there is a hole somewhere...and oop, gotta replace the foundation here.
I love how the hype died a month after release. The amount of people who care about it anymore is basically none, it's just a meme at this point. I personally think CDPR should fuck off and refund everyone and let their devs take a four month vacation for what they've done to them
Play Yakuza instead
Just......trust me, lol. Yakuza does everything Shenmue does but 10x less clunkily with 10x less QTEs 😬
I hate QTE
Oh god, you would despise Shenmue 🤣
Just play Yakuza if you're curious about the Shenmue kung fu life sim experience
I wish Valhalla or Odyssey were MP even if for only Co-op
Been playing so much Valheim, I've become partial to the genre
Honestly if they haven’t sorted it this time around I’ll be looking for a refund myself. There’s no way I expected it to take this long.
I saw Satisfactory on sale and almost bought it until I read the MP reviews
I wanted to play it almost exclusively for MP building and allegedly, it's a rubber banding whore
Valhalla can fuck off with its horrid sound quality
@thorn dawn Bruh in the 1.2 update the biggest thing they're fixing is cop spawning 💀
wtf, I didn't know Baldur's Gate 3 was Early Access. I thought it was the 1.0 commercial release earlier this year
My housemate is Welsh and let's say the atmosphere isn't amazing after the rugby :(
Make your house mate wash the everything
Divinity Original Sin 3 Baldur's Gate 3 is stupidly large
Like god damn that is a big map
Will it launch on console at any point?
Divinity Original Sin 2 is on my buy list
Probably, Divinity did
Game looks fun
Love divinity
I'm not a huge fan of the combat style but I also don't hate it.
The RP is what looks cool to me
How everything ties together
It's weird. Tho you can be an undead lizard person, get drunk, start stripping, then scare townsfolk with your ugly face so they attack you
Undead aren't well-liked in the game, lol
My #1 bucket list item
Every other sunday, in Divinity
I'm not entirely sure why you start removing clothing if you get too drunk but I'm entertained by it, lol
No. Shenmue is a landmark title, but it's better left as history
Shenmue drunkenly stumbled around and scored goals against itself so Yakuza could run, LMAO
Valheim is quickly approaching my Skyrim level hours of play
Hope that it comes to console one day
Would be excellent for gamepass
Probably won't be on it tho
Though I'd bet Microsoft will offer as soon as there's word of a port
I hope Microsoft buys out EA
One less platform for them to release on I guess
Holy shit gamepass is getting absurd
?
Just poking around the ea play freebies
Oh, fyi I had a mass effect game downloaded through origin and it wasn't showing in ea play.
Went to the store page and hit Download, and it seems to have located it
State of Decay 2 multiplayer...Wonder if it's worth it
So I'm watching Us right now, and why tf has the family barely aged between 85 and present day
They're all related to sir Patrick Stewart
Lul
Literally this girl was like 10 at the start of the movie and no more than 18 now
Elves have taken over Hollywood
Wait nvm it's meant to be the mom in the flashback
Her character and her dad just so happen to look basically exactly like her mom and her husband
Damn good game
I have like 200 hours in it solo
Solo. Impressive. What about MP?
I'm trying to find a game to play with two others.
I know SOD2 is MP but I worry about banding
rubber banding
Haven't bothered with multiplayer cuz you're tied to being a certain distance of other players, iirc. That and I don't wanna share my loot
I mean, just gonna point out, most of the stuff in the first part was outsourced, EaW was petroglyph, galaxies was day break, Kotor was BioWare iirc?
so the meme is a bit misleading
No it's not. Disney sold EA an exclusivity license. That's the point of the meme
ahh, it looked to me more like the meme was trying to say look how much more Lucas arts made, my bad
It's not just a shot at EA for being slow, but at Disney for being stupid
Disney doesn't exactly need the money.
also, I'd argue empire at war is still one of the best star wars games
Question: Can you play SCUM with MP on a private session?
Like, maybe you only want to play with a few people
Well this is a dumb good mod
blagh, i couldn't help myself and decided to try Generation Zero again
I was like, let's at least try to get through the intro missions, and apparently I was on the last one of those, so that worked, but then the next set of missions?
Operates identically to the intro missions of go from point a to b and I'm just like...
castele from behind looks pretty neat tbh
Check out my newest video! Creating the entire map of The Skeld from Among Us: https://youtu.be/tstUwGxWTXE ------ I can't believe it's finally finished, the world map from Super Mario World! I had so much fun, and also learned so much from this creation! I really want to create more maps, let me know in the comments which maps you would like to...
this was randomly on my feed
also surprising me today im shocked that bandainamco is still making shit for Xenoverse 2 xD
they added evil Toppo and Pikkon because for some reason everyone always wants Pikkon
aka bootleg Piccolo
@prisma geyser's favorite
orks are stealing the imperiums shit again
unfortunately this is still selective based on the person(s)' bias
they just selectively choose which 4 years because it conveniently skips Squadrons
and Fallen Order
it would be like choosing the 4 years where Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi exist as "lucas makes star wars" and then contrast it with 4 years containing The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker as "disney makes star wars" basically omitting Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones to avoid Anakin cringe

Neat. I exported my 3ds games to PC and now I can run them there.
I enjoy this discord channel.
Didn't Dorkly do that? Animating shitty zelda game graphics for skits?

You poor soul
I like how the description for Rebel Galaxy Outlaw on the Xbox store is basically the same as the one for Elite Dangerous
lol
RGO tries to sound more ambitious than it actually is
I bought it awhile back but couldn't get into it as much as I thought I would
I enjoy the music a lot but the repetitiveness of the gameplay just bored me
the 'radio chatter' from npc's is a nice touch at least
I only ever really read it as space dogfights with a ridiculous paintjob customization suite and that's basically what it is, so I'm cool with it, lol
I don't think console gets the robust customization bit tho
does anyone play DnD ? i need help with a background for a character
The description for it is all like "Be a pirate, miner, cargo hauler, bounty hunter, etc"
so to start off i really wanted to do a fire genasi with a love for melee and fire so i decided to go with a desert storm herald barbarian but i cant think of a background that deals with fire
i meant as in like hermit charlatan etc you know the ones that come with feats etc
No no, his father was a renowned smith, who one day had a psychotic break and smashed his wife’s head with a red hot hammer
And so he’s determined to scorch his father with the very same heat he once used on his mother
pick one that has most of the things you want, change the name, and then change one or two of the bonuses for equivalent ones
the rulebook says the backgrounds are just examples
trading bonuses is fine, as long as you're trading like-for-like
dm has to agree ofc
btw i started this character idea because my rogue just got one hit by a hill giant throwing a dead guards body at him and critting
so i wanted a character to embue my rage you know how painful it is to suffer through lvl 1-4 as a rogue only to have it die in one hit
anyone playing loop hero here?
Cause I wanna do it, but I don't know if I really wanna do it.
Well good enough then.
oh, yeah, i guess so. I just followed the early marketing stuff & didn't skim the store page so never really saw this bit:
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is an open-world space combat adventure game, spread across the nearly 40 systems of the Dodge Sector. Play as a mercenary, a trader, a pirate, or whatever mix of the three you feel fits you best. With an engaging storyline and a full conversation system, you can follow the narrative, or ignore it and forge your own path at any time.
I saw more of this, lol:
Strap into a variety of spacecraft, settle a score in a filthy space-bar over a game of 8-ball, rock out to over 24 hours of music, and engage in white-knuckle dogfights.
i think it's worth that personally, certainly more than some bigger budget games but i also caught it on sale so i get it
caught it on its, "hey we're now on this store" sale, lol
"In Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, The Galaxy is a Rebel Outlaw. You...well, aren't you cute"
Man, I played Astroneer tonight with some friends, got myself stranded on a planet when my rocket borked....
Took 30 mins to advance my technology enough to craft a new engine
Had to make a small replicator, then a generator, then a medium replicator, then a platform, then a smelter, then smelt some aluminum, get ammonium and BOOM....done
This week Yahtzee reviews Rebel Galaxy Outlaw on Zero Punctuation.

"rubble gubble wubble lacks both the energy for short term fun and the depth for long term fun. Play it for precisely a middling amount of time for a middling amount of entertainment and then go eat a bag of plain crisps while sitting on the middle part of a see-saw."
😴 i stopped caring what zero punctuation said ages ago
Name that show “That legendary place that the end of the map reveals...”
In an alternate universe, Disney gave a chance for Rebel Galaxy devs to make a Star Wars pew-pew smuggler space flying action game.
end of an era? 😦 https://www.thegamer.com/ps3-vita-psp-stores-permanently-closed/
That is unfortunate. Maybe they're going to release a new play station portable thingamajig.
Developer Mundfish shows off the highly detailed Photo Mode in the studio's upcoming first-person shooter, Atomic Heart, which is in development for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and Xbox One.

gimme
Playing Astroneer with friends. Must be nice.
Playing ||anything|| with friends. Must be nice.
@coarse swift aw man, they could have added Astroneer on the list of play at home on PSN
If they do another round, I'm pretty confident it'll be selected.
I love social games (with you) and they're so much more fun when they're free
Screw playing with others. All they do is make me wait 😛
After many years of playing games with friends, I finally gave up last year. I realized half the times I disliked a game, it was due to friends borking my experiences.
Best choice ever.
Hrmm.. well with the exception being Monster Hunter World and Overwatch. THose two games Ive found people I could play with.
I just don't go into a game with expectations. I'm not a completionist. I play with family and friends just to screw around
Not to succeed.
If I have fun, I win
Last night we just borked the physics for an hour, making ridiculous gravity defying statues of garbage, and threw each other off mountains
I can play with @coarse swift just fine, obviously
However, yeah, I haven't had too many solid groups of people to play with. Most ended up being problematic.
Needless drama when Arc and I are just trying to play a damn game.
We had one guy and his friends kick their feet because we left their 100% dead Destiny clan, however normally everyone was chill and just played together as friends
Personally I could careless about clans or cliques, I just want friendly people to play with
that enjoy each others company
I guess that wasn't the case.
Then they had tantrum and removed anyone who still talked to us too. Lovely people.
I just hate how poorily prepared people are.
I play a lot of survival games. Most of my time is spent with people whining how hard it is.
Seriously, how hard is it to just collect for instance air in NMS and stay alive. Sheesh.
I don't mind if someone doesn't know what they're doing, I only care if they start getting aggressive
Ive been through maybe 100 people. Only one was remotely prepared.
People just hop from one game to the next, complain its to hard.
Whats even the point?
If you spend 90 percent of your time, not even experiencing the game.
Hrmm, that is except valheim. Actually its pretty damned fun with friends . Bit of a new experience.
I've been wanting to play that one
Its definitely.. Man, I just enjoy taking it slow, exploring, see the sights.
Day one of my base, its a early prototype
Day 4
I love the art style

Like what the heck, its so pretty
ikr
Your totally welcome to play on my server if you want. I know youd be chill.
I'm stuck on console atm
so I just get to look at other people playing
Awww
THAT is the issue. I see
Repairing pc's and building them is very expensive now
We have a comp, but Arc gets first dibs on it and I want us to be in a better place financially before we get me a comp
Do you and arc live together?
Yeah
Ha, I didnt know that!
Aweeessssome! I thought you were single and all alone. Turns out you have a floof of your own, plus the arc 😛
Two floofs and an Arc
This is good!
Yeah, getting another pc would cost at least 850 now
For a crap one
Yeah, prices are awful 😩
Your almost better off with a laptop, which I never dreamt would be a thing
I got a Ps5, which was fine because I have a lot of games from my Ps4
I wish I could mod

I almost bought an Xbox
But I need God of War
😩
And HZD
Laptops are a no for me
I had a bad experience with one
It caught on fire

I can still turn it on and it smokes
Only kept it because it has all my baby pictures of my cats on it 😩
I'd buy an Xbox if they weren't unicorns 🤬
hehe
We manage to get Arc a Ps5
blessing
I almost had an xbox
but Gamestop decided I was a bot
and banned me
Thats dumb
Yeah, all because I refreshed the page too quickly. THAT was the ONLY way for the button to refresh
LMAO
Wow
so now I can't check gamestop at all to this day, which sucks because I'd like to see what I could get for turning in a ps4
and sometimes they get exclusive amiibo

meh
speaking of amiibo, I got a new nerd shelf and I'm putting my nerd things on it
Is there a way to contact their support and be like "Hey I'm a real person but you banned me cuz you thought I was a bot"
Probably, I was gonna ask in store
Ah
I read about some other people having the same issue and they got ignored, so idk what will happen
They cant call you a bot to your face
what if I beep boop at them
Well damn, idk
I like how anything besides $700 bundles with extra controllers and crap sell out within less than a second 🤬
Bestbuy is the most solid option for buying
even if it says not in your area at a certain store it can change
Our best buy is Pickup only and over an hour away
Lets be honest, the market is flooded with people with money. To much demand, to few consoles.
ya just gotta fight for it and wait to see if locations load during checkout
I'm annoyed by Best Buy doing pickup only
I actually managed to get a ps5 from a store, then sold it to my friend at cost. I knew hed want it.
i do that a lot lately it seems
Also, I totally agree about laptops Winter. I loathe them, unfortunately they are cheaper pound for pound then a pc.
The whole gpu situation is sadly not something that will go away ever.
AMDs CEO said consoles will have shite stock til at least June 😔
Yup.
Hrmm, Im considering selling my 5700xt and getting a 6700xt. I know Id hsve no issue selling the 5700xt for 400 bucks.
Hell, its a good 5700xt at that, it actually runs well LOl
Although, if it was a friend, id probably sell it at cost, 320.
If you want valheim, let me know winter. Ill grab you it
Even if you only get to play it rarely on arcs pc, that or play with arc.
I appreciate the offer, but I'd feel weird accepting it
I get too nervous about people spending money on me, even when its family
Meh
There is a reason I got 12 games bought for me when the stim checks showed up
I do it for many.
That being said, I respect the awekward feeling.
It took me months to convince my friend in brazil to allow me to buy him some ram for his pc.
You made me remember I own one game on steam
temtem lol wow its been a while since I logged in
Anyways you're very kind
I try
Woah i got 5 dollars
You are a very nice person @glass plinth
I should get it for you Arc, so she cant say no. LOL
That being said, I think a lot of the reason I get games for people is how much I percieve they appreciate something about it
ANyways, dont worry, not pressuring 😛
I think your right though, art styles like valheim are rare.
I wish more games went out on limbs like that.
i wonder this so much too. Minecraft never had to tell anyone to punch trees and yet somehow it's harder to interact with everything in NMS, smh
Ha, I usually make it to my ship with a full load of life support, running around and peaceful
Well save for the rare times i start a new save with a world with no oxy plants
I had one where all the oxy was locked in rocks, bizzare world.
I took a look at that and passed, mostly due to the fact its inspired by pokemon... isnt it?
Hrmm what was the one i got from epic like that..
Umm.. man I havent used epic in ages lol
on the plus side, by then maybe they'll have a few more good titles to justify the purchase
I mean, I already have over 200 games to play on it and a bunch of them have Series X enhancements already
Yeah but you know what i mean
Ranch Simulator. For people who want to pretend to work as a poor person trying to afford games.
It was once your grandfather’s pride-and-joy, but your family ranch has fallen on hard times and it’s up to you to turn things around. Sitting in a remote forested valley, the dilapidated homestead will test all your abilities as you attempt to turn it into the most prosperous ranch in the region – either alone or in up to four player co-op mult...
another to tag as work sim on steam, lol
Profit or value?
Profit
Ngl, I saw Ranch Simulator and assumed the game was about a tasty condiment.
A lot of the ranchers here raise cattle for japanese firms.
I like some sim games. Had a farming sim where you got to cut down lumber
That feels vaguely graphically like 7 days to die lol
i just like work sim as a flexible term for games across the board that feel more like work than play, lol
After all, if we have walking sim as a term, might as well have its opposite
@glass plinth ooblets is pretty good, I recently hopped back in and it's a really nice chill game
Always was fun Zoid. I justs quirky
def quirky lol
I played BDO a lot like a rts game.
Some work games are good, some arent. Depends on the person and the game.
i played a good amount when it launched but stopped cause there wasn't too much content
Im the same way zoid
yeah I don't think there's really anything in the cards for that atm
Im pleased to see my friends game is developing well. He has been working hard and steady for a year now after his kickstarter and he is 3/4ths done. Man, I admire single developers
i kinda don't, must be a pain in the ass to pull everything together
like trying to sail a larger vessel in Sea of Thieves, lol
Man, Im hungry
Someone is burning oak nearbye, it makes my office smell like a smoker room lol
I want ribs!
Baked beans, ribs, garlic bread
Noooom
heads are rolling at CDPR
One of them
It does not look like heads are rolling. Where are you seeing that?
You think he might've been "mutually fired"?
Either mutually fired, or jumping ship before 1.2 gets released and things turn really ugly
Leaving the week before a major patch is due to drop is...
sus
Weird
Indeed
Indubitably
hmmmMMMmmm
That or his part in the development is done aqndhe decided to cut and run
Saw that happen a few times with devs in wow
Not bad thing, people need breaks lol
Not always anyways
so would it be inappropriate to drop this here? ^^;
sony is giving away a bunch of free games: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/sony-giving-away-350-worth-191906608.html
horizon zero dawn is the big name, sadly i already have it ^^;
nothing sounds more appealing than leaving the overstressed lifestyle of working at a AAA studio to join or create an indie studio
the witness is awesome if you like puzzles
Honestly I dont have a console, so useless to me
I would love to try Horizons zero dawn, but im busy with other games
Oh~ Play it
It's super fun
unless you're colorblind or hard of hearing
Id play it winter, but i tend to spend 1000 hours per game, in a row
So still got awhile to go with valhiem
how
i usually hit something in a game that puts me off or stumps me before even exceeding 10 hours, lol
Well a thousand, is the low end.
Well, game by game, but you get the idea
I guess I dont get stumped..
The least I ever played in a game was maybe 300 hours.
Like it took maybe 20-30 hours before i hit some stupid boss in DQXI that wanted me to go grind
I don't understand that at all
Especially in RPGs where it's turn-based monster bash a hundred times
I can't argue with that, although none of the audio or colour puzzles are required iirc
I think some might be, but yeah, I honestly can't remember either
I think it depends on long term goals Leon. I enjoy grinds where I make incremental progress over a variety of tasks, building things. Some grinds, I loathe.
Single task grinds, I loathe
When I'm talking grind I usually mean the type where you're just grindwalled/gated basically
You may have a variety of tasks available, but they're all going to the same stupid thing like leveling or getting a single piece of equipment or something
Im thinking grinding like in BDO, where i explore multiple regions to unlock resources to say build a ship. Then setting up NPCs, supply chains all that
Not like, kill x monster 100 times.
I love setting up networks
All those sexy designs
Well, even say you have the option of kill x monster 100 times or do some side quests, but they all feed back to that same thing of leveling or getting enough money for some equipment, that's all some garbo grind imo
Hrmm
Specifically when there's something gated behind doing those things
Yeah, I dont see that as garbo. I see that as fun. Feeding a system, which changes, non static, Im ok with
That is, leveling/getting equipment
Static can fuck off
It's static imo since it's just a treadmill usually
I enjoy say, go to region 1, kill things, gain materials, make a better set. Break into region 2
repeat forever
HOWEVER
The region has to change.
Static regions like world of warcraft make me puke now.
It also largely has to do with time scales and play periods.
I prefer getting different functionality most of the time, and changing/varied environments
The longer I have to play, the less I enjoy it.
Ideally I enjoy grindy games say for a hour or two a day, spread over years.
So its like hrmm, a fun distraction which builds up
There's the weird spot where the environment can be roughly the same but different functionality is attained, as in some roguelikes that I enjoy, but the ideal is differing functionalities & environments
Yeah, that is cool!
Doesnt matter if its grindy or not!
Having a world you can redo, with new tools, and see it again from a new way rocks!
I just get so booored of grindy games where the activity is exactly the same damn thing but slightly higher numbers
Yeah your focus is longer term
Mine isnt
I cant really get bored if I break up a activitiyver months o
I wont remember the past moments
Its just how my brain works
Yeah, if I do something in grindy games for just an hour or two it just feels like nothing is happening or going anywhere to me 'cause on a certain level, it kind of isn't
Have you heard of this game it's one of the most innovative shooters I've played in years https://store.playstation.com/en-ie/product/EP2477-CUSA08144_00-EUSUPERHOTGAME00
Superhot's wicked stuff, yeah
😎
Shame I generally dont play shooters.
Superhot's like more of a puzzle shooter than a standard shooter tbh
Yeah I guess in BDO , Id gring, slowly over years, and a lot changed, over the course of that time. A lot of systems..
That wasnt really how the game was intended to be played though.
I sorta ignored 40 percent of the content i disliked
Now, Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing is exactly the sorta thing designed for what you're talking about
Yeah you got to wait for the right time so you're not filled led
But it's largely due to being timegated to hell & back
Ive yet to ever play that
My friend pam is into that game
I just dont buy consoles, so not much chance to play those long term games for switch
Animal Crossing is the most work sim game i've ever played and i've tried EVE,
Animal Crossing expects you to actually be awake during the day and what the fuuuuck
PUT THAT IN THE DAMN GAME THEN

Valheim is a odd game in that, I dont really care about the goals.
Or rather, put that back in the game
I just build my house, farm, setup roads and little outposts.

Hrmm
Hmmm
Raft was another game I enjoyed, pointless long term exploration
OH!
Subnauticaaa!
Large oceans freak me out
Literally the only survival game Ive played with a end!
Subnauticas a great game for those with a fear of the ocean
I fell in love with the fact, it had a point your done. It felt... so unique.
I get that one for free soon so I'll finally play it 😩
Lets be honest, everyones afraid of something in subnautica
Oh that's scary
Being in a mini sub escaping a larger sub, as it creaks and breaks, trying to get high enough i can abandon it and survive.

Giant's Deep 😏
All of it was fantastic
The grind was interesting, you build to survive, but the worlds ending, so your survival has a timescale so to speak
that sense of urgency changed the games context
is it grind tho
like do you have to get an excessive amount of crap for this or that?
Well, you have to collect materials, process it to make stuff
Like, a sub isnt made from thin air
Its just practical reality
Albeit, I did find much of the stuff could be salvaged.
So the route to the end sorta varied.
Like building a castle in any survival game, part of the joy is setting up the supply chain to make it.
sure, but if it's not excessive like x10,000 of each resource and said resource is hard to find i wouldn't call it a grind 🤷♀️
Hrmm
Depends on what mode
Like my house in valheim, very hard to build. I built on a hill and backfilled with rock
That was immensely time consuming
But also, in that case, largely optional
Right
exactly
The lack of repair costs is immense in valheim
Once you build a item, you own it, you just need vicinity to a repair bench to fix it
imagine them adding a hardcore mode with repair costs, can't imagine any but some masochists would play that, lol
The fact you wont die from not eating directly
Oh shush
I already have a mod that adds repair costs
😛
you ever play The Long Dark?
sounds about right, lol
Honestly, the repair costs arent terrible with the way I have it tweaked
It pushes me to find new metal sources
They are diminshable
So as such, you have to keep exploring
yeah, i'm just so used to devs taking the "cheap" way out with harder difficulties, just making numbers stupidly high
So I was thinking along those lines
I make tools, I collect materials
I enjoy that cycle
I suppose some people enjoy the thrill of exploration to continue the journey.
For instance, I used up my small islands supply of copper.
So I made a boat, explored maybe 20 islands, survey them
Then I build outposts
Build roads to the resources
Ship them home
Eventually I get so well setup, I dont think Ill run out ever
Maybe in real life years
I enjoy that
smells like the factory games i love
I'm more of the explorer researcher sort than explorer exploiter sort
I like to explore & learn/gather info more than loot/gather resources
I've been playing Outer Wilds lately & loving it for that
Hrmm
Yeah I love exploration games.
I just never found one rich enough.
They all lack .. diversity
One could argue The Witness is somewhat in that vein too, but it's just raw mechanics littered with quotes
Lovely island though, that said
hehe
Outer wilds reminds me of kerbals , meets ground hogs day
Frankly, its a damned good game
KERBALS!
Ok, thats a exploration exploitation game
Figuring out how to fit all the bits and bobs together to make stuff to get places, to make more stuff to get more places
I could play that game foreverr, because Im learning real life principles I use in real life
I cant tell you how many times Ive ran into real life issues and come up with kerbal solutions I used in the game
When you realize how many moving parts are in a system, balancing hundreds of things together to achieve a goal, thats fun
Pure absolute creativity
Frankly, I cant think of a single game that remotely achieves the same level of creative ambition.
Not one.
Not even Minecraft? 😛
Also it's hitting me that at least in some respects, a lot of visual novels/point & click adventures could be described as exploration researcher types of games, since some are puzzle games involving investigating environments and piecing together info to solve puzzles
Oh hell no
Mine is a bland pile of poo
Mind you, A fun pile of poo
I just never felt even remotely interested in doing some of the mega projects
Sure you can do music simulators, basic computers and such
Why would I do that when I can create a entire colony on a asteroid with farms, mines, fleets of ships, satellite networks, probes
I mean.. I make it all down the smallest detail
Some of my best gaming memories were of sending a large colony ship to Jool. The ship got struck by a meteor and sending out a rescue vessel would mean years of prep. If it were even possible. So I had to figure out a way to get the vessel to a place I could save the people, salvage what I could
It took me weeks to plan out the operation.
You should have seen the Drawing board of plans lol
Now mind you, this is maybe 100 years future tech wise of where we stand.
You said this was in vanilla too, right? Well, base game + expansions?
Aye
@hearty nimbus i think you missed memes 😛
no im just seeting a reminder for myself for 5 quantum minutes from now
Well, base game and one mod Leon. I did use future tech propulsion and local resource collection and construction.
Basically what kerbals 2 is aiming for
Mods really made kerbals what kerbals is. Half of the content in later parts were made by the mod artists that got hired.
Kerbals 2 is largely based off the end product of those mods and releasing with them included and ironed out.
That and a entirely new engine for lighting, materials and maps
That picture oddly sums up almost everything the mods added save for propulsion
On site construction. Being able to make parts on site from local materials.
https://youtu.be/olBOncln0Ik This is where kerbals 2 is basically at with the new rendering engine.
New power generation modules for colonies! Your nuclear power options will progress from compact fission reactors to giant fusion tokamaks to next-generation Z-pinch fusion reactors. hmm i like those visuals
Game Pass go brrrrrr
oh damn yeah i considered getting that awhile ago
RIP lead gameplay designer for Cyberpunk
Dude just ran for it, LMAO
lol, I just found...An ending for Outer Wilds...
Sort of
Well that was weird.
Fallout has an ending. It's called fallout. Welcome to the ending.
That's pretty cool
I just finished Outer Wilds, and it's so, so, so good
I just went in the, uh, less obvious directions
Although one way I went was sort of on accident by exploring Timber Hearth
Well, really, both ways I ended up pursuing were from poking around Timber Hearth now that I think about it
So in a way, maybe not entirely backwards
Oh I see
I uh
I did a few things out of order, solved a few puzzles that I shouldn't have completely by accident
Funny thing is, I coulda done similar had I just gone a little further here & there, lol
yes
Idk why I went to giants deep first this time; for obvious reasons both that and dark Bramble or hugely unsettling to me 😓
I fell off the island on giants deep and was like nononono cuz fpr some reason I thought I was getting sucked down to the center
Damn irrational fears.
it's kinda ironic, I don't think I have thalassaphobia (sp?) but deep open water in NMS is kinda unnerving to me
but Sea of Thieves underwater doesn't bother me at all, which is kinda odd
Opposite for me
Meh
Dont understand why everyone posts updates to 2077 haha
Its highly unlikely to be a redemption arc
don't look a gift Shrödinger in the mouth

so does a pandemic lmao
I don't like hugs
-_-
I'm like the opposite, I despise people who give like very loose handshakes
it's like touching a corpse
usually I ignore them for the rest of my life afterwards haha
but yeah, being on Discord so long, I've met a lot of people who are like "don't touch me" and blahblah
🤷
I don't know many people like that irl
consent is important c:
hehe
looking forward to the Companions in ESO
what would be extremely lazy is that they'd do your surveys for you
I have like 400 banked and you have to do them all manually 😭
I hate handshakes.
I don't want to touch the thing you touch everything else with.
Fucking pleb.
ugh
i like when someone gives me a moist handshake. this means they care about me and don’t want me to be dry and waterless and want to bless me with their moisture
sweaty palms omnom
must be fun being in a relationship with you 😄
"you are my spouse, but you have to stay 3 feet from me"
Ew marriage
Yeah I sleep separate from my roommates usually lol
I sure hope so 😮
I never had a roommate I wasn't in a relationship with
I prolly won't miss too much
🤨
Ok
👍
If this goes on moving it to #off-topic-bond-james-bond
I was just about to say it 😄
VR game where i get to moisten my hands and shake peoples’ hands when
... fuck...
hla released a year ago to this day
it feels like I played it for the first time last month
Cool
Time to try this Immortals demo
HL:A is fun when it isn't giving me a headache
where do you find the cutest gifs, Moon?
Just did the Immortals demo and now I understand why ACG liked it, it's stupidly fun to play and pretty damn funny to boot 😆
I will now kill hordes of vicious llamas in a big-ass mech
Anyone played this?
https://youtu.be/rTHVY6hUn3E
is this not out yet? I feel like I've seen so many trailers for this yet never actually seen anyone play it
yeah it's out
huh, I saw a ton of trailers and stuff for it then when it released it just kinda went poof
that's about all I remember about it though
Yeah same I just picked it up for £4
The llamas shall die
Binge played through Alien Isolation in hard mode this time and it was so fun
Hell I managed to not kill a single human, and never used the revolver
It was definitely hard though
So I decided to skim a wiki for Generation Zero, see if the missions get any better, and at least from the looks of their structures, the answer is no.
As to the narrative, well, it's delivered through logs and audio logs, so.
Somehow they seem to stretch out the robo-invasion thing on and on with different locations & organization's responses, which...Could be interesting, but from what I've seen so far, and what I skimmed just now...Doesn't seem like it gets much better.
Kind of a bummer, as they do nail a number of other parts of the game imo, nice looking environments & bots, good sound design, guns feel pretty nice to shoot, bots feel nice to destroy.
But the scavenging/exploration feels very...Bland. Lots of empty normal houses & cars, or nearly empty littered with ammo/medkits, sometimes a weapon or utility item.
It's this weird thing where they have all this big open space but from what I can tell, it sounds like nothing particularly interesting to even see/find. Here's desolate Swedish city/village #5, here's desolate Swedish military installation/bomb shelter #4, etc.
But soon it'll have base-building, cuz that's totally its main issue 💀
I don't know why I keep feeling drawn back to it
That's the only reason I've kept digging up info on it
Ez fix, never buy it in the first place cuz you read all the reviews and watched gameplay 😌
I've also played it though
So I know how it plays, and it's not bad but it's also like...There's nothing interesting going on there, nowhere interesting (it seems) to see, and yet
More games should have demos
I wasn't expecting Immortals to have one, I defo wasn't expecting it to have an actual hand-crafted demo seperate from the main game
Oh it does?
Yee
Nice
It's pretty entertaining, the demo is a short story being told by Zeus and Prometheus that they keep arguing over and changing. Prometheus keeps changing things that happen cuz Zeus is full of shit and making everything "historically inaccurate", lol
It just hit me what Immortals reminds me of btw
Immortals reminds me a tad of the ol' game Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
Albeit with less slapstick gameplay
Zeus: "And then she fought Cerberus!"
Prometheus: "Cerberus was guarding Hades at the time"
Zeus: "Fine, it was a minotaur!"
Prometheus: "There weren't any minotaurs on the island"
Zeus: "Well I don't know, it was a bunch of chickens then"
The whole time they're arguing you get to watch the thing you fight transform a bunch until it finally turns into big hostile chickens, lol
I like it, I thought the humor was gonna be Borderlands-y but I actually laughed a couple times 😆
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is great as it's one of the rare games to bake the comedy into the gameplay that I can think of. When you play as the Mummy, you're playing a more puzzley side of the game, where you use the Mummy's undead nature as a means to solve the puzzles.
So that obviously means lighting them on fire, electrifying them, flattening them, etc.
Immortals takes the BoTW approach to puzzles where you can do outside-the-box goofy shit to solve em if you're creative enough, lol
Honestly it's just trying to be fun, which I appreciate. It's an open world but not full of standard boring shit, it actually rewards you for being like "I wonder if that's climbable?". Plus it has an actual friggin art-style that's fun to look at and it isn't full of repetitive loot
You can tell that it's the game the AC Odyssey games wanted to make before being stuck with an AC contract, this feels like them actually having fun making something
lol
That's sortakinda how I've felt about Starlink
I genuinely think someone at Ubisoft just wanted to have fun making something StarFox-esque and some nifty toys at the same time (but mainly they wanted an excuse to get a StarFox/Arwing toy)
Which, really, if you had the opportunity, wouldn't you also get [insert franchise here] toy made?
If it were me personally and it was related to Nintendo, I'd go more for Metroid personally, but that's just me, lol
Argh. You reminded me of a zombie survival game that's oriented like a top down strategy game where you choose a starting profession and skills and then need to survive as long as possible.
The heck was it called.
Remember Nintendo has very little confidence in metroid.
It sells poorly.
And didn't they drop star fax zero around the same time?

does nintendo even bother to market Metroid? might be some kinda correlation there, i dunno 😛
Feel like the same sorta thing has happened with other series they infrequently release new entries in, e.g. F-Zero, StarFox, etc.
@full pivot btw, since you've been enjoying Outer Wilds, I think you'd also enjoy In Other Waters (it's UI-driven, so depth isn't conveyed as in Subnautica), and Heaven's Vault.
Just started In Other Waters and am enjoying it. It's more open than I'd expected.
Is that the weird "you're a suit AI" one?
Not really, no, lol
They tried at one point, though
And they give use turds like federated force
somethin' like that, yeah
You've the dual mystery of what happened to this person the character you're guiding is seeking, and also, wait, just what AM I?
So, maybe you're a suit AI? 🤷♀️ Gotta play to find out!
Hah

I'm gonna commit a sin and try to play Recore again
hah. I can see why that would work. Hilarious.
By building the wall then deleting it, then moving the cooking station without deleting it to where the wall was, the other players position tracks the move, but didn't track the wall deletion, resulting in a collision calculation assuming clipping, but then shitting itself...

that reminds me, i think i have that!
I'm sorry, LMAO
i mean I think i might like it which is the only reason i got it
on sale, mind
so like waaay cheap
Do you like empty open hub areas with godawful stunlock-fueled combat and way too many fetch quests 💀
So many damage-sponge enemies, it hurts
The Steam reviews describe it better than I ever could, LMAO
It's so close to actually being good too, it's like the devs randomly fucked with it on purpose whenever they started heading the right direction
I think cdpr have missed a trick by not releasing 1.2 today while reddit is down so no one can complain about it

I just had an idea for a game
It's single player until you beat its primary story. The primary story shapes the world, the characters and how they respond to you...and the game turns into multiplayer with an extended story that explores other dimensions of the same single player extended experience in other dimensions with slight deviations that are entirely shaped by other players single player experience up to this point.
You play the single player extended story in multiplayer with upto three others, continuing the story arc in an entirely different players save game from a repository of gamesaves that are cycled regularly. How you resolve the extended story elements in multiplayer is different for each playthrough as the elements in the game differ significantly based on that initial single player setting of the world you now share.
Further, as the story arc is loosely based on the concept of finding a single point in space and time, even if your friend did the same thing as you did in their save, if they didn't do it at the same time - how that would impact the world may be significant, resulting in different consequences because of timing.

I saw Cyberpower selling these nucs
Not this specific one...just nucs in general. Looked interesting
Wargaming is hosting an intel nuc tournment and I guess some games are gunna be played on nucs
I've decided I want a new computer but my requirements are stupid high, considering just to get an improvement on my high end last gen system is looking at an i7-10th gen or a Ryzen 7 5800
Everywhere I look these CPUs are stuffed into stupid expensive setups
I did do my own build (with Computerman's advice as well), but even then....The idea of building my own kinda scares me.

I think the W stands for Whine.
Because he can't find decent GPU at a reasonable price anymore.
Mind you not a lot of gamers can afford an 80 inch experimental 4k resolution TV to play their games on.
I'm so excited for tomorrow

@rigid haven it's basically just a rental service
Ah I figured it was something like that
nothin' against folks that use it, just not how i like to handle my games
I like it cuz I don't wanna have to buy all the games I wanna try. not arguing, just my reason for liking it
Yeah I'm against it because I feel iffy on how it works, not a fan of rental thingies even if I'd only play a game on it for a day or so regardless
Oh yeah no
It's good to try out games for sure
Good to play the games fully if you want, too
Mmhmm, especially if there's no demo available
I just don't like the idea of renting games perpetually or paying for a pseudo-demo service. Plus frankly I already have a stupid backlog to sift through
Been digging through that lately and finding that damn, I've been sittin' on some gems
I have that feeling but with books more than games
oh relax, it's only two months
I'm doing something I haven't done in quite some time

Playing NMS for a change
Rng loves me too
Tertiary star system right away, and robot right away
But that's a convo for #no-mans-sky
@rigid haven it’s free if you just play games and collect the points and do the Microsoft rewards
Play games to play games huh
Trust me as long as you play you’ll get more than enough points
Yea essentially I haven’t paid for Xbox for over a year and a half now
You do get some weird ones like the quizzes or 50 searches on Bing but those go by quickly enough
And if you don’t mind playing new games you’ll get the 3 achievements one done fairly quickly most games have achievements you can get without doing much
That's fair yeah
Though before I even so much as consider that I gotta clear my own backlog
game@pass is decent
you can find for as cheap as £4.99 a month and some of those games are banging
I agree
Plus with the Bethesda acquisition it could get even better

haven't really followed the game much so don't know how significant but are they really locking an entire class behind a preorder?
i have no idea, but that would be dumb
although it’s a bigger reason to preorder compared to what other devs offer
They replied to some comments saying it'll be available after launch as well
I don't know why they'd lock it behind a pre-order then, unless it's just like a late-game unlock or something? Seems like poor messaging when no one knows enough about the game yet lol
could be. doesn’t really seem like something they’d wanna do for their first big title
i’ve never cared for preorder perks honestly
idc when they're just like, dumb skins or starter gear that's marginally better than the first thing you get in the game. but limiting it to digital + more expensive physical editions is kinda lame no matter what. they haven't replied to any comments that ask if it's a purchase after release either which makes me feel like it'll be paid content
