Since when do gifs play sound
If you open original it should go to imgur I think
Since someone repackaged mp4 as gifv
Point of order. That's a bathroom, not a locker room.
I like how the comments figured out what state they're in by their casual wear
isn't repacking mp4 as gifv "rename .mp4 to .gifv"?
i cant hear sound on my end
Lol, I got another server into a big H.R Giger discussion
What sanity? What limit? It's a free-for-all. Nothing is real, nothing is fake. Something's amiss. Happy thoughts. Gale Empathy.

A little annoying that Stranded Deep is still in early access so long
That company would've flat out died if it didn't sell EA copies
A part of me wants to get Valhalla because reasons...and then there's another part would rather take my money and save it for Vive Cosmos....torn af
Jahnri almost convinced me I don't like VR as much as I do, but I do.
VR is fun.
I want one so bad x.x
That tobii idea seemed compelling, but I'll be honest...The HMD isn't the selling feature that gets me with VR
It's the hands.
The VR hands.
Tobii + Valve Index controllers would be my ideal situation, if it worked together
Development hell is a place where good ideas go to die.
Yep
There’s a small team of Russian game devs that were working on a car combat game in the vein of Vigilante 8 / Twisted Metal that’s basically gone silent. The game seemed like a great modern take on car combat but it’s basically dead at this point.
I mean Stranded Deep also went up against Subnautica
I just wish Subnautica was a little better in the optimization
Otherwise it’s a great game
To many scary fricken underwater monsters x.x
3/10 too much water
I sent an email to the developers of the Tobii eye tracker, hoping to discuss the prospect of a tobii variant that can track hand controller inputs and positioning in the same vein in which they track eye movements.
Probably not something possible with the tracker alone.
Perhaps some integration with an independent positioning tracker exclusively for the controllers and positioned relative to track them
Though I wonder how disorienting it would be to see your real hands moving while the hands of your character move ingame
It would present a problem
yeah external depth sensing cameras would work well - thinking of the constellation tracking that oculus gave up in favor of built in cameras
Your hands would get in the way of your view of things ingame
mmm, so two different overlays? what advantage would that have over simply getting position and applying it to a model ingame
because quest games with handtracking simply track your hands and make it available through the sdk without options for irl overlay
Coding wise they could make it so when you look at your hands irl, the camera offsets a bit to view the character hands without lining it directly with your irl hands. That way the game would know that youre looking at your characters hands and not obstruct the gameplay , while still allowing you to look at your irl hands. I mean, technically it's possible to do but not sure it would feel good
yeah i'm sure a passthrough+ adjacent could do that, but not sure what benefits that would bring
Imagine looking at your irl hands and your char looks at theirs, but then you raise your hand up to block your irl view of the game screen and it moves the orientation of the hand to face view so that in order to properly see your hand, now you have to move it out of obstructing your view
meh, the more I think about it, the less enjoyable it sound
yeah the largest issue we have with vr handtracking is.. mostly with haptics. there isn't any feedback for gripping objects or anything like that, so the universal interact action is just denoted to pinching
Though I suppose you could have more sensitive hand controls that respond more exagerated to hand movements.
Then you could look at your irl hands and never necessarily obstruct your char view
One of the granddaddies of modern sitcoms, and with one of the best theme songs to boot. An album/soundtrack version of it never existed, so I made my own for our enjoyment. And will I answer how I did it?
Of course not, don't be ridiculous!
I did it I got to lv 100 of skull cavern without cheats!
@crisp sparrow Never heard of skull cavern
its unlocked after reaching floor 120 of the local mines
then you just go there once you unlock the bus system that can take you to the desert
In surprised at how fast I forgot cyberpunk even existed tbh
What a hot steaming pile of bullshit. After all the complaints Ubisoft got for language barriers playing the Division, The Division 2 has the EXACT same issues, with foreigners flooding the game on every region and the game being full of Russians and Chinese
Welcome to the MP aspect of Division 2
Lol
I am SO glad I never purchased the DLC.
I got this game for free.
Sad part is, the game could be easily made SP offline and avoid all the bs, but they want to create a microtransaction market
Oh well. This is what you get from me Ubisoft
sounds like they removed language barriers
You can see all the languages
and it would be one thing if it was isolated, but that chat is flooooooded with russian and chinese. Everything from outrage for being horrible at the game due to lag, to Chinese selling leveling services and gear
It's like each country agreed to corner a market
Heh
where's the texan representing america
The one guy from Texas with the racist epithets screaming about liberals
Damn liberals puttin Chinese people in my vidyagames
where any character that's american will be texan or californian
cats are assholes sometimes
I can't believe someone spent time and/or money making a Flashback remake, but somehow it looks worse.
It looks like a mobile game.
I remember when Flashback first came out. That game was awesome.
Now it looks like someone fond of the original had mental diarrhea.

tried Monster Sanctuary on gamepass, actually very fun
I thought about checking that one out
would definitely recommend
it's basically pokemon with a bit more strategy and metroidvania-ish aspects
every monster has a "field move" that does something outside of battle, letting you do stuff like make small platforms, glide for a bit, burn things, break things, push things, etc
Oooh
you have three battle slots and the monsters always act in order of position, so positioning plays a big role in how the battle plays out. Putting buffers up front to add damage/build up combos and leaving heavy hitters in the back to deal more damage as a result
also every monster has a skill tree with mutliple branching paths
so you can have two of the same monster with different focuses potentially
Damn it Ryan. You're so great!

I literally spent all night when I was sleeping downloading and installing that pos game (Division 2). Fricken waste OF TIME
pokemon ranger anyone?
pretty similar to that yeah
I absolutely loved this mechanic and wish more games had it
Played on thei5 4670k (overclocked to 4.2 ghz), GTX 770 GPU, and 8 gb ddr3 ram. Blade mode insanity seems to drop the FPS to 30 (add 5 fps for the recording). Yet the GPU usage stays around 50%. Cutting physics must be CPU bound.
Rising is a batshit game, lol. Fun af
Imagine The Witcher 3 with that slice mechanic
I'd turn into a total psychopath
"You're not very nice."

"There. Now at least you're amusing"

imma say something i just found out in ED that makes me happy
all the cosmetics that used to be real money have a currency now and I get it just for exploring
Aparently Odyssey could have been a standalone game... but they didnt do that cash grab, they made it a season update instead! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgwhlgzvI5M
Elite Dangerous Odyssey was featured in a recent issue of MCV. The article contained a lot of information we’ve heard previously…however there were a few new bits and pieces, which I will look at here. So, aside from the ability to walk around, one of the things about Odyssey that has interested me the most is the new planetary tech. Dr Kay R...
and for the people that dont know... you can actually "land" into those rings
if you drop into the dark side of it.. and turn on night vision... its really good looking 😄
land like this? xD
I once got caught up in a battle in one of those rings and ended up smacking into an asteroid and bounced off another one and exploded.
I was laughing so hard I nearly pee’d myself
sure i mean im just in the middle of nowhere but im also just MsAethena on there too xD
Ok
tlou2....gd ||seraphites||
I apparently have the attention span of a gnat and now I started a third game, lol. The remaster of Arkham City 😆

like this ring view?
Amazing
I forget where that is but there's a station basically in the ring there
I cant remember where it was, but I ran into a ringed world once who had such immense rings that they covered your visible horizon
I can find the date on that shot and look back through my logs if you want to figure it out
I always loved the bizzare worlds of ed
The two I love the most are on the far rim in a region you really have to travel awhile to get two. Two naturally life sustaining worlds in the same system, with two moons, one moon sustains life.
If the game had alien races like the original ED did, I imagine that would be some home world lol
ah right I found it, that's right near the station Titan's Daughter in the Taygeta system
another IMO pretty shot I took of that game (Kepler Orbital after the NMLA attack)
Found a system with 2 elws orbiting each other the other day
I swear profitable worlds come in pairs
Found a couple of waters orbiting each other but never Earth likes
Yeah the earth likes I found are still listed as some first, I forget what
I know it was probably just a first for the region
Definitely would make a ideal home for humans
one worlds basically earth level biological with near earth atmosphere and temps
I say near earth, because its a tad warmer
the others more polar-temperate
Feels good being the first to discover it and can't wait to hand in the exploration data
New ship time hopefully
I hope that ED's odyssey is so much better than I expect it to be. What are the odds? Do we have any early releases of beta tests or something
Maybe some gameplay?
I think there is will be to a select few
They've shown some gameplay already
The first in a series of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey dev diaries One Giant Leap explores how commanders can experience light atmospheres and break new ground with exploration on foot for the first time.
Stay tuned for more dev diaries on combat, missions, environments and co-operative play over the coming months.
Elite Dangerous: Odyssey arrives ...
These series of videos cover it
Honestly, with anything done by frontier for ED, its always take the bare minimum expectations
and your pretty close to how it will be
I wonder if Odyssey will be forced pvp
Yes
In theory you could say start out at the started space station
fly to any world you can walk on
and engage in solo merc work
You can't walk on all worlds?
Not all
Atmospherics clearly not
Anything thin or no yes
So what does ed offer, go to planet, kill people in bases
Scavenge crashed ships
find plants and sell the data scans
Thats about the core
Essentially it just adds stuff to do on the planets you can walk on, not to to much
Eventually it will be just another glory hole for microtransactions
Well in function its just like mining in space, scanning in space
Just a new area to do it
Its not bad
Also you could in theory just work on planets
since you dont need ships to fly between planets now
Space taxis
It is nice though since I live in one system most of the time
Mine there
work there
Now I can go to planets and explore them for a profit in a new way, it makes the planets feel a bit less barren
I'm eager to see Dying Light 2 as well

lol
holy shit he really went into that raid shadow legends proper
....
not just memeing around
Talking about Dyling Light 2, Raid Shadow Legends banana pole dynamic spaghetti mixer. ...I always skip that part of their video. It screws with their youtube statistics
and if I can get what i want in under 5 minutes, their whole 10+ minute video is almost useless
In his case it looks like he contracted to stuff that add into his own video so utube doesn't get any of the revenue for it...
probably has a raid shadow turdgreement
well, here's hoping they won't just have announcements for more announcements
I can't wait to see what happens with game development integration between AI and story
I'd love to see a game that writes a dynamic story in 3D using an AI that impacts content
Then you can literally type to a NPC and they can respond and change the game fundamentally
A conversation with AI I had today....
Have you played the game Cyberpunk 2077?
No I haven't, I have just seen footage of it.
Do you have any opinions about it?
Id rather be a walrus.
Me too. Me too.
Meanwhile, Im playing way to much Cyberpunk
Same
Call me the Pacifier
Lol
Im doing a mostly non-lethal run
Stun batons all the way
I got a mod that turns my guns non lethal, so I can just brrrrrrr them and they won't die.
Stupid really but hey it works.
Pax
They have a cybernetic eye for that as well
Non lethal rounds are a thing of course.
I like the insanity of running into a room of enemies and just getting so close they have difficulty reacting
I passed 100 hours playtime today.
On my 2nd playthrough cause I feel I missed a lot of stuff my first run.
AI: Do you mind if I try an experiment?
ME: I do not mind if you try an experiment.
AI: You are not funny.
ME: This is true.
AI: What are you thinking about?
ME: Being unfunny.
AI: You succeeded.
ME: Thank you.
AI: No problem.
First run took me 81 hours though, I didn't rush it.
I'm just thinking of all the situations that could arise in a game with an AI you speak to with inputs rather than pre-designed messages
Just random text....
and the AI can act out based on responses
I imagine eventually we'll see something similar.
I want a game where the tech manifests in a 3D world and not in the manifestations of a limitless imagined one
Hell. The replayability of a game with such an open ended concept...
Feels almost endless
I imagine there would be limits at least in terms of end-result
There's only so many ways an AI can kill off a character....
Though, it's possible the AI could bug out and share the results between different NPC meaning a single hive mind might turn into a psychopath with a full on agenda
Turns out Agent Smith wasn't a virus...You were. You didn't tip the taxi driver. You were mean to the pizza delivery guy...that shit built up over time...and the AI governing the entire universe started to hate you.
ahem Sorry. Fantasizing about game design
i don't know what would be my perfect game
Star Citizen?
Honestly, for me, yes.
potentially
Remember when that was on the shop floor and just fresh and there was so much hope?
I wonder if there's still hope after all this time.
I mean...Technically it's got a better track record than Cyberpunk
So it's got that going for it
lol
The technology in game will definitely lead to new games and scopes of games being born.
A tech demo
The render engine is so ridiculously easy in concept that I imagine others will work out their own methods, leading to LoD being a non issue.
that could be interesting game where you create a city, Cities Skylines like then have the ability to go ground level and walk around with procedural type missions or even missions you could create
something like that anyway
That City planet would be cool

Frankly no game trumps kerbals for me
Since, I can do... well anything
Star citizen frankly s so buggy, so hard to use and generally so unfleshed out, its not fun
Its like trying out a bunch of tech demos taped together.
i was watching a SC stream last night for the first time in years and 10 mins in there were bugs
his ship starting bouncing as he got out so he thought closing the hatch door would stop it, nope, it carried on bouncing then the hatch door wouldn't reopen
still hyped as fuck for this tbh
Dear gamers,
Below, you’ll find CD PROJEKT’s co-founder’s personal explanation of what the days leading up to the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 looked like, sharing the studio’s perspective on what happened with the game on old-generation consoles. https://t.co/XjdCKizewq
I've been waiting for so longgggg
i am just gonna put this right here, dont mind me

holy shit 😄
my son has a hot wheels garage and it flings the cars around that so fast
moves it away from oled
is that a hole where the car was or is that the car stuck in the cieling?
looks like car stuck halfway
its stuck
ok because god damn
imagine what that would've done to a human
does whatever a spider car does
I wish it had sound. Hilarious
i saw those hot wheels in a store last year Before and they had blast shields up at either end
car-pig next
yeah
Imagine putting worse-than-PS1 audio in your game but also spending lots of money putting stuff like this into it

Ever wondered how @AssassinsCreed works with Tobii Eye Tracking? ⚔️
We spoke to a developer from the Assassin's Creed team to walk you through the features!
#LikeAViking https://t.co/COglUnEPQR

why would you play with eye tracking
is that like for people that cant use their hands?
"Immersion"
New open world Star Wars Game has been announced apparently
Ubisoft: Puts fucking awful audio quality in their game that gives me a headache if I try playing it
Also Ubisoft in the latest title update:
I guess that’s a good and a bad thing
The open world could end up being huge and empty and pointless
Inb4 they record the entire game's audio with a Kinect
dev priorities are weird
To be fair, they can't fix the audio issue. They actually thought it was a good idea to record shit in that quality 🤢
CDPR broke their silence then
They'd have to re-record the sounds for the entire game
v1.1 within 10 days
it saved 8-9gb in an 80-90gb game, very worth it
"As it turned out, our testing did not show many of the issues you experienced while playing the game."
they need a better qa team tbh
LMFAOOOOOO
"our testing conveniently excluded PS4/Xbox One"
can't believe they're throwing QA under the bus
For the eye tracking by the way @bold crag I love it, I use tobii on Elite dangerous all the time. Allows me to look around my environment without mouse input. That way Im able to say check a spaceship behind me, middle of a dogfight.
Frankly its a ton better then VR for me.
you have an owl head?
hehe, you dont have to turn your head that much silly goof
oh boy what an image
Your head becomes a input
So imagine you turn your head a little, the game screen turns, its very natural
Its pretty damned good in Star citizen as well
Well frankly most space games
flight sims and such
just jahnri sitting infront of his monitor, suddenly the head twists 180 degrees and looks at a screen directly behind him
Hahaha
In truth you can set the input levels to wherever your want
I find it really liberating to be able to look around my cockpit naturally with my head
Makes mining pretty damned awesome
Hrmm, curious how it would work on foot
Like in AC
it mite rock
As for Cyberpunk, man what a clusterfuck
I love the game, but the company is just ... not doing so hot. At least I can give them credit for fixing stuff though.
Where have I heard this before
future projects, not current projects
OOF
imagine calm game dev deadlines
that wont happen
That would require realistically telling people when delays happen
LOl
Well, that or pulling a HG and just shutting up
Im not even against crunch. Its prolonged crunch that is a issue.
I cant tell you how many times unexpected events pushed my company into really difficult corners where i worked 2 or 3 18 hour days in a row
It happens. Its when you work that way for months and your disposable to the company where issues arise
My bf just called my character in GTA "financially obese"
How rude. Smh.
as long as it’s not crunch forced upon creatives by team leads
that's a stellar phrase
if it’s their desire to crunch then that’s fine
A lot of creatives are obsessive and like to work unhealthy hours
Well, that's a tricky area in all honesty.
yeah
up to the person, if it isn’t, they’re slaves
does financially obese mean rich
Not everyone agreeing to crunch hours are necessarily doing so because they fully understand the consequences. And when they do, sometimes, it's very late. Health-wise. Mental-health wise. Source: My old self.
😇

really no point in working when you’re mentally exhausted. you’ll get so much more done after being well rested
Hey it's Erik
Hi Erik
and be happier
Corporations are top 1% with very well trained management teams experienced in manipulating their workforce. A lot of times making it sound like it's a "choice" when it really isn't.
which sucks
Hi!!! I was informed I was being called out, so I had to defend myself if necessary haha
Lmao!
couldn't 'afford' to let it pass
Yep. Plus more mistakes happen and that ultimately creates even more work.
Haha indeed
Exactly. We can make a lot of assumptions as outsiders. But I've also been on the inside. And have also seen colleagues suffer consequences. So at times, it's hard to gauge how much was "choice" and how much was deliberate manipulation.

space legs are hard, that's why you start as a floating camera that appears to be holding a gun and then add third-person and then add legs in first-person (at least for VR)
At least we have em now plus the atmospheric worlds, the views and screenshots that will come from this will be breathtaking

Ugh. While I like they're using Snowdrop, I hope this new star wars game doesn't turn into The Division: Star Wars edition

I didn't realize there'd been an official apology from the co-founder. I still feel bad for the devs. I'm glad this video helps clarify who's normally at fault, even if it doesn't fix the issues.

I assume that's not the movie character yoda
It is. It's a few hundred years before the prequels though
oh, later than the old republic? Huh
It's between the Old Republic and the prequels
Like, 300 years before the prequels
So Yoda will be in his prime
OK maybe not prime (he's pretty old, lol) but definitely able to beat more ass 😆
Ang grogu doesn't exsist yet iircv
Nope, he was born and started being raised during the Clone Wars
Yes please!!!😁
So I feel bad, I fell on a pedestrian in cyberpunk and squished him
Literally missed a jump between buildings and landed on a guy sleeping on a sidewalk
I look down.. just goo everywhere
Odd, I know we been talking about EDO, I actually have ED ignored for some reason, idk why
Imagine having to drive from inside that. 😄
Got reminded of the talk how some of the cars have insane interiors, and that you can't see shit from inside em. Dunno if it was here or not even, but this feels relevant. 😄
In other news, what the fuck goes into these slots fkn hell.
there's 15 more slots, filled 3, got all this iconic shit inside, nope, none of those.
K one's panams rifle, but I'm using that so na ah.
but rest's empty and I'm lost.
I think I have an idea for one.
ah fuck I bet I know of 2 pistols that go on display... the one from yorinobus apartment, and Dying Light. No clue why I don't have em anymore.
Just barely got away from that last dogfight apparently 😬
huh, so that's what those are for, thanks!

Ubisoft open world Star Wars game; I hope people have realistic expectations because Ubisoft open worlds are usually the same formula every time
While I enjoy it ik a lot of other ppl don't

And it whips the originals ass I think 🤣
song slaps pretty hard imo
found this band pretty recently and I'm loving this whole album
Why do they keep delaying everything
Movies, games everything keeps getting pushed
yeeeeep
willing to bet UK Techfest 2021 gets canceled this year as well
which sucks because I want the goddamn video of Slice the Cake playing the entire Odyssey to the West album live, damnit
because I can't afford to fly there and UK will probably be in lockdown when it happens x.x
delaying it last year was fine, there is going to be a slew of delays in 2 months from now
everything scheduled for may and surrounding periods is going to be delayed
... Yes.
I'm fine if Odyssey gets delayed I bought the alpha build one
Plus youd think people would be ok with game delays this soon after 2077
But ppl never learn I guess
2077 is weird to me. I went in expecting to have issues and had none and it turned in to the literal best game I ever played.
I can't stop playing it. 😭
I'm excited for ED:O though.
i just want star field, ED:O and sq42. i will probably sink a lot of time in those 3
I was having fun in space yesterday
sq42 probably will never release tho
👌
ED had a better approach tbh
They've finished an aspect of the game (space) and now are adding in the walky bits
No atmosphere planet first, now atmosphere; I'm sure later on Earthlike and water worlds n stuff
People don't really see the game being in dev either because the part they released was finished mostly; but walking and stuff was always supposed to be in ED
Views are lovely 😉
I wonder if my ship has a place to sleep on it and also... Could I theoretically take a cat with me
Id like to imagine I just float around in deep space with my cats lmao
Trying to get back to the cave nebula so I can sell a bunch of cartographics its just gonna take a year 😔
no FCs you can land on with the UC service active?
FC?
There’s a DSSA program that permanently anchors carriers strategically, for explorers
I would have no idea how to do any of that its all new shit since I was playing
If you look up your region in the table here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/1/d/e/2PACX-1vTevQUcLThqo4emXE4nowJeasI07gFio4fETwevAXKIA18NhlDzbnZzRMVUOAT26OROfHG7fCXvTLgY/pubhtml?gid=0&single=true
I doubt theres one in 50 jumps of me
Only 50? Maybe not yeah
Anyways, they’re just mobile starports, though best not to log out while docked at one. Some have cartographics.
you don't need to own one, just find one with the UC service active and you can sell your data, although you lose 25% (12.5% to FC and 12.5% to UC service provider) but you can sell data for systems within 20 Ly
I haven’t visited any yet but I haven’t gone very far either
Well the cave nebula is 50 jumps away too tho
Its just I don't have a lot of time so I only got through like 6 yesterday
Ah, yeah.
Between scanning and photos and stuff
I am on a mates FC and I just loaded up the game, launched went to SC FSSd the system and then landed and sold the data
I was heading out to heart and soul but it's obnoxiously far
Well selling one system ain't that much
Id just like to sell the stuff I acquired 6 months ago or so
my point is, you normally have to travel >20 Ly in order to sell system data ... not with a FC you don't 😉
I get the point
does the cave nebula have a station you can sell at?
That's why I'm backtracking there.
well the Heart n Soul ones do
That's like 200 jumps or something
even on fastest route?
No but that's anathema to what I'm doing
I'm taking the slow route to accrue cartographic data
well more systems visit = more data to sell and also the chance to find undiscovered systems
And more things to see
just don't die 😉
Well I'm avoiding neutron stars and i learned the easy way to land so I should be safe
Hard to die
I imagine atmospheres will make it harder in the future
Prolly can't just stop and drop down
I hope more interesting, technically challenging
But not like supercharging which works 99/100 times and once in a while kills you
I was on my way back from Colonia and using the NH and got stuck in a cone and ended up back in Colonia ... when I started the trip home again I didn't use Neutrons at all ... visited more systems though
Its why I avoided the most recent one
It might have let me get to cave faster but no thanks
Back when I had my Asp I had 3 months worth of data and got fucked on a supercharge and quit the game for quite a while
The problem is I had no intention of going back till I had reached the center, and I had no reason to think id die
stardew 1.5 big spoiler ||yeess finally the island farm||
should have contacted support, a mate of mine had a similar problem been using neutrons for ages then suddenly gets destroyed by one so contacted support and had his rebuy cost refunded and all his data restored, only thing they didn't restore was the system data so if you view the system from the galaxy map it'll say discovered/mapped by you but it'll still show unexplored on all the bodies
Yeah this was before FSS I think?
It was a while ago
At least now I know I can hop back to the bubble and stuff
As I understand what y'all were saying I could jump back to civilization and then back out to where I left off?
no
Then its kinda useless
if you die you get the choice of the ship you were in at the last station you were docked at ... or a sidewinder in a system in the bubble (not sure if this is still a thing with the starter systems as you'd require the permit for them, which you lose when you leave them)
I know how death works
I guess I misunderstood the point of FCs then
As I said before there's travel distance regardless
A FC is just a mobile station, I took mine and a few people to Colonia to unlock the engineers up there a little while ago ... does 3 jumps per hour so it takes a while to get there
does 500 Ly per jump though
I have everything on mine apart from the black market and the outfitting, so people can store ships on it if they want ... refuel/repair and rearm and then sell exploration data or bounties
I just have my humble Krait
I have 2 of those I know one's outfitted for Goids not sure what the other one's used for ... main ship I fly is the Anaconda and today is only the 2nd time I've played since last year. Waiting for my mate in California to decide what he's doing with the FC heading to Colonia or returning to the bubble?
I'm never buying an anaconda xD
i'm tempted with one
Its like a living ship to me
or something like a clipper becuase they look cool af
I have 8 on the Xbox and 7 on the PC 😉
Everyone has one so I don't want one
Stardew seems fun
my main gripe with the Clipper is it should have been a medium ship and the internals are just horrible ... I have some I use for module storage
I might get a hauler or a transport ship someday just for something different to do
Python
i do when i get back want to look into doing some mining
hmmmm
You mentioned VSauce @crisp sparrow, most of their key songs are done by Jake Chudnow, I particularly like Shona, Prelude to Shona, and Olive. But here's the main one, Shona: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBAIyY9y3HM&ab_channel=JakeChudnow
The wonderfully warm and punchy analog synth on this track is a Juno 6. I've been sleeping less and making more ever since I set it up next to my bed.

not as cool as the Compaq Proliant 1600 I have though 😉 which I cannot even give away ... wouldn't care it still works just no need for it now

dammit why do amazon insist on this week by week format for the expanse
They're using it to promote site visits
:/
Visit site more, more sales.
Maybe not for you specifically, but they really only care about scraping 1% of the fans
....and since nobody really complains.
Same reason Disney+ does it with Mando
And Amazon does it with The Boys too

upcoming game...
God damn that's a good deal
Battlefront II has a fun campaign and decent Battlefield-style multiplayer
I started Injustice 2 cuz it's on Game Pass, not sure how to feel about the campaign's story so far. Supergirl is.....older than Superman in this???
Battlefield-style
I mean, the series is a battlefront subseries...
Yeah but it feels more like Battlefield
@quaint escarp 😏
BF4 best battlefield don't @ me
waiting
o.O
Feb 4th new map
new map is Vietnam
P sure Richthofen is in it
Agreed. Hopefully a bit harder this time
almost there
...why is ubi streaming scott pilgrim?
Cuz it's their game, lol. And just got re-released
I just finished watching Bladerunner (the original one) last night. I'd seen the second one with Ryan Gosling, but not the Ford one...
I did not like the Ford one.
I barely enjoyed the Gosling one.
I love the theme...the world it's in, but holy shit they do not put much work into justifying the universe.
Welcome to the future...Ignore everything.
It's dirty.
The End
I can't hate on it tho...I think that's intentional.
They want to inspire thoughts and opinions and ideas.
Like a prophecy trying to convince you it's worth making come true.
Altered Carbon has a good Cyberpunk theme, 2nd season was shit though
AGREED
I miss the dude who played the main character in the first one
he had an awesome voice
He's technically still alive in the second, no?
Second season bored me so much that I didn't finish it
well the sleeve he wore anyway
They just never got the actor to agree to return
First season was top tier
i had to finish the second season
Same, got to the 4th episode n that was it
eventhough i did not want to
They did it on purpose, Kovac was more or less on the run
Suicide Squad 😬
oh shit
well, oof
Yep
oh no
And he's the dad in Hanna
I would've loved to see an Altered Carbon with the original Kovac played by Will Yun Lee as the only main protagonist.
Amazon Prime show @bold crag
that would defeat most of the point of the plot
oh, thats why i dont know it
He's a good actor, he had physical issues before Altered Carbon so he was stuck not doing action roles til he got fixed through a big surgery
but oof robocop and suicide squad
I didn't mind Robocop, but they could've done a lot better. The story was played out. I don't need what amounts to a movie resume.
I'd rather had seen a new story.
wow
oh, that medical condition
Wow
Mad respect for him filming a badass action series like Altered Carbon while having that done to him
that sounds extremely painful
its so forgetable
Don't they have to break every one of your ribs in sections so that they heal in the proper alignment later?
Well, all the points connected to the bone
My favorite character in Altered Carbon is Poe...but I may be biased in favor of alcoholics who die in the gutter.
Better explanation
I liked the hotel AI, forgot his name
Poe
Loved Poe
Torchlight 3 is on Game Pass now, goofy lil Diablo-like game
One of the characters you can choose is a......train summoner???
is it fully released now?
I picked the barrel robot, lol
Yeah altered carbon's futuristic hellscape feels soooooo much more lived in than bladerunners or even cyberpunks
Everything has some fucked up history of corrupt abuse tied to it
I think I know why I can't get into Watchdogs Legion...and it might be something psychological.
I fucking hate driving on the wrong side of the road.
Hate it.
...Tried driving on the right side and crashed into cars every time.
Like...learn to fucking drive, Britain.
😛
I had GTA London 1969...I couldn't get into that, either.
I just can't get used to driving on the left side of the road.
Which is weird, since I've never driven a car.
It may sound stupid, but that phrasing has always thrown me off, "Driving on the [x] side of the road"
Like, you drive on both sides, and either side, you're going forward...
A mix of relaxing music from Nintendo water-related levels. It also features a gentle water flowing sound. I think the result is pretty enjoyable! It's been a long time since I've done an 'element' themed mix...

@cinder vessel I drive with the traffic.
but the traffic goes either way!
Try driving on the right side of the road in britain. Traffic will be driving into your face.
Two lanes. Relative to your position. Left and Right.
Britain drives on the left side, North America drives on the right side.
It feels like I'm on the wrong side of the road which sends me careening into traffic
Yeah, I get what you're saying, and I'm saying the phrasing is as confusing to me as that driving situation is to you
I just don't prefer to drive backwards.
Because regardless of which side is the "driving" side, you drive on both sides
Semantics.
Unless when you're in the "non-driving" side you think you're not driving
It may be semantics but imagine trying to explain to someone who speaks English as a second or third language, lol
When I worked nights, we had a guy on staff who spoke english third language. I couldn't.
Half the shit I learned about writing and speaking english, I couldn't explain
Upon reflection, it felt like I'd been programmed and forgot what I was programmed for.
And that's been me since like forever
I have a hard time with English because I don't know what the fuck it's doing, I just try to emulate recognizable communicable patterns
Kind of makes you wonder if education is the problem or the reason for it.
Imagine if you only had to learn the things that helped make you better at what you wanted to do.
and the price of admission for doing something different, of course....learn the new things.
Instead of learning all of this information as fundamental and only retaining 30% that will almost never be used.
that's not how it all is already?
that's how language acquisition works, its much better to submerge yourself in the language than to study it if you just want to learn how to speak
would you prefer "starboard"?
oh oh, like this https://twitter.com/MattAndersonNYT/status/772002757222002688
And in this image you'll see a rare sight. Truly, remarkable. A 'The Colony' grenade launcher outside of its natural habitat, braving the wilds of pve. This type of behavior is unprecedented in Crucible natives.
I use what I have, lol
Keyframes, VFX and concept art for the Elden Ring E3 Announcement Trailer.
Art Direction by Adrián Bajusz
Client: From Software, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment
Studio: Digic Pictures
This was the first project I got to work after I came to Digic in January 2019. To be honest, I had no idea what it was. I just knew it was From Software and that ...

maybe, if I could ever remember ship terminology 😅

NMS needs some truly horrifying space monsters. All these giant galactic skulls are teases
I want to see the one that didn't somehow rot in a void
for what you wish from NMS, the lovely #nms-the-future awaits
wut
in NMS?
is that some unofficial name for the thing?
lol
meteor child made me think of some Risk of Rain or Starbound thing
I wonder who ever thought of referring to something as bullshit. I mean, in what context....did bullshit, become bad
do you realize how many things that could apply to in NMS, lmao
We need some metroid powers for your NMS character. I wanna turn into a ball and roll around.
jetpacks suck
i want a sword
you mean the launchable arm blades
Prototype, lol
crossfade, in good music players since forever 😎
I really enjoyed Prototype 1, but 2 felt contrived. Like, they made it just because they could. The story barely expanded...the technology for the game was not new...and didn't do anything to expand on the map. Prototype 2 felt like a total cash grab. I want a Prototype 3 that's NOT a cash grab.
I can't stand using spotify for any length of time due to the ads 💀
I've never used Spotify on purpose.
whaddya talkin' about, desktop app also has ads
well, ya lucked out i guess, lol
every time i use it i may get through like 2 songs and then ad
at its worst it's between every damn song
I wonder why Metal Gear Revengence's slice and dice mechanic didn't make it into any future Kojima projects. I absolutely loved it.
MGR is just a ripoff of Musashi Samurai Legend don't @ me
Musashi Samurai Legend....never heard of it.
maybe
It was a pseudo-sequel to Brave Fencer Musashi, terrible voice acting, but solid gameplay
Observing the Musashi Samurai Legend gameplay video...Yeah no. Same mechanic, which is fantastic, but really....
That's like calling Batman Arkham Asylum a rip off of Final Fantasy because it is in color.
Oh I know the comparison is silly, that's why i made it, lol
lol...but the game looks cool so, that's a plus. Always enjoy seeing a new game
Well...new to me
....Because it is
It doesn't
But yeah, the slice & dice mechanic existed earlier than MGR which is always something cool to find out in games, like which game had this or that feature first/earlier
Your PC does not speak
I love how Mega Man Zero games animate the destruction of enemy bots with the z-saber, nice slice & dice visuals
I wish you could dodge in Starbound like you dodge in "Blackthorne"
and go passed stairs without being forced to go up them
Blackthorne had a fucked up narrative. You could kill people who weren't even bad...they were cuffed to walls. They referred to you as their messiah...and you could blow their heads off.
"finally"
The Riemann hypothesis is the most notorious unsolved problem in all of mathematics. Ever since it was first proposed by Bernhard Riemann in 1859, the conjecture has maintained the status of the "Holy Grail" of mathematics. In fact, the person who solves it will win a $1 million prize from the Clay Institute of Mathematics. So, what is the Riema...

This year, two teams of physicists made profound progress on ideas that could bring about the next revolution in physics. Another still has identified the source of a longstanding cosmic mystery.

i don't get some of these maths problems like this. What does solving them accomplish?
I at least somewhat understand solving scientific problems, how they can help solve other problems and/or devise new tech and/or improvements to tech, however general maths problems? Just end up going, so...What?
I'm really digging this channel
@cinder vessel To quote Simons Foundation in summarizing the significance of this discovery
A solution to the Riemann hypothesis — and to newer, related hypotheses that fall under the umbrella of the ‘generalized Riemann hypothesis’ — would prove hundreds of other theorems. In one fell swoop, it would establish that certain algorithms will run in a relatively short amount of time (known as polynomial time) and would explain the distribution of small gaps between prime numbers. In short, a solution would solidify humanity’s understanding of some of the most fundamental objects and relationships in mathematics.
The practical application of solving this problem has yet to be found because we have no technology that needs this mathematics to function. The practical application of these problems won't be discovered for hundreds if not thousands of years.
That of course depends on how fast our technologies develop.
Maybe we'll find a practical use for using this math in formulating technology to unify relativity and quantum mechanics.
That's the beauty of mathematics.
It's a light switch into nothing but possibility
yeah see that still told me next to nothing
mathematics, especially on that level, is a lot like philosophy, just instead of concepts & ideas expressed in language it's a bunch of concepts & ideas expressed in numbers
which i suppose for some folks is beautiful, but for me it's just like, what the fuck even is a number really
Of course....because there are no proofs yet. Once a proof exists it goes from philosophy to psychology.
The whole objective is to find a way of applying the math in such a way that it can be used to predict other things without needing to necessarily calculate infinity, which clearly we can't do
Lets say for instance you have an algorithm that dictates how your game renders buildings. It would be even nicer if your algorithm could also dictate how the game renders avatars, and light, shadows, etc....The fewer independent mathematics necessary, the less overhead in calculations.
I'm using coding as a poor substitute for pure math
Application wise, understanding a simplified foundational basis for mathematics just makes everything that uses them more efficient....
And I don't myself understand how the math works. I can appreciate your frustration.
As I listen to the complex explanations, my brain picks up on bits and pieces that fit together, but I don't see the whole picture.
Sounds a bunch like sorting out solutions searching for problems to apply to, lol
Math is way ahead of practicality. Always has been.
Because it's not limited to simple utility

Solving math problems leads to more math problems leads to more math problems leads to useful things
Look how far figuring out pi brought us
my poorly edited gif
Even when the og xbox/ps4 came out they could barely hit 1080p, they were never that fast to begin with
Knowing how to calculate circle dimensions and density is huge, and iirc led to trigonometry
@sariety#3710 Yes, figuring out pi. Pi can be calculated. The fact that it can be calculated, even if it can not as yet be calculated to a common fraction does not diminish the fact that it's figured.
and...for the record, it will never be figured to a common fraction. Welcome to the universe of three dimensions.
What in the hell is this thumb
tapered
Its beautiful.
i like the end of nail art that makes it look like it's disrupted
what is that cloak sleeve from? that's a really neat angle-shape
Phantasy Star Online 2
oh neat
That thumb is a finger drawn by someone who can't do hands.
I used to do thumbs just as poorly
At least they're finally doing hands right here soon
This 8ish year old game is getting moving fingers when New Genesis hits

one of the doctors i've been seeing does a certain procedure so continuously, so often, that the side of her thumb has given up and is now flat
"no one will ever zoom in on these hands"
"No one will ever check to see if these sailors are real" - said no Spiderman game developer ever
Phantasy Star 2 New Genesis will hopefully have better hands
that actually move....
these .. sailors?

i want to ask "is this faked" but i .. no, i won't
well i tried to figure out what was in the original game and instead there's https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/626675

so, i'm kind of enjoying Rebel Galaxy Outlaw? At least when I can get into dogfights that don't murder me right away.
But to get better stuff, you have to do a lot of side stuff, and the side stuff just...Isn't great.
Part of it's that the side missions that might be more interesting seem to inevitably get you ambushed. The others are working with cops, or pirates, both of which screw your rep up one way or the other.
So you end up with bland fetch quests or clearing minefields which are inexplicably strewn about the place.
So far, none of these side missions have had any meaningful story associated with them. It's just some filler text that soandso wants whatever done, here's the objective, here's the reward, go at it.
I blame Ubisoft for this /s
Speaking of that guy. According to Netflix's Swear Words series, he's the actor who's officially cursed the most in film or television. 😆
Highly recommend the series for the record.
First episode alone is focused on the word Fuck.
Nicolas Cage is the host. But they have a lot of fun celebrities doing their fair share of cursing. 😆
@fleet moat Spirit and I finished watching it today, it's great 🤣
I'm a cat.
Just kidding. I'm not a cat.

His skits are always cute
messing with the Bless closed beta. It's pretty fun.
Kinda slower BDO
It's an mmo, not a gacha
lol
wait.
isn't BDO notoriously slow/grindy as-is? the hell?
i forgot the roguelite side of everspace was bad, help
the combat is fast and flashy
the progression is slow
hey just like everspace
and a bunch of other games
i hate progression systems
"to pick this lock, do whatever else a stupid amount of times and then put points in the lockpicking tree/skill/perk"
You would HATE Far Cry 5 🤣
I keep trying to get back into games that I apparently suppressed the memory of having really bland & annoying progression systems
At what point is the satisfaction of "earning" the unlocks not just like some weird sunk cost fallacy thing
I like slow progressing games
probably why I liked bdo
Mind you I was running a business making ships
I loved the social side of it
Not to mention managing my business was rather fun
I like games where I'm not actively put in a screwed position to justify a progression system
fresh feeeesh
did...did they just slap high-res photos down for the wall textures? lol
The last couple games I've been playing have me feeling that way. Everspace tries to cover it up with being a roguelite, and I dunno what Rebel Galaxy Outlaw's excuse is.
Classic game challenge? 🤷♀️ Thing is, I know when I'm facing an enemy on even footing, it's fun. But left & right it tosses up tougher ones or too many and it's blagh
Everspace does a similar thing, mainly with enemy count tho
lol the squid almost looks like it has a smiley face
yeah, it's cute
@charred badge We want to welcome you to....munchkin laaand!
The Lollipop Guild welcomes Dorothy to Munchkin Land.
Hrmm
As far as natural progression I loved Ancestors Humankind. The entire world was always brutal no matter what.
Realistically you only survived being more clever then your enemies. Using the terrain and tools available.
Overall, I dont have to suspend much belief in areas with inherently more risk though, how games approach it isnt to far from reality, just to artificially used.
I suppose I would prefer natural progression, but either way I enjoy most kinds of games
I think what irritates me is when people call people out for a design and dont offer any logical means to maintain current game qualities people want, while introducing them to new ones
Its very difficult
||-looks in NMS-||
I think my frustration point with games & progression systems, at least recent ones, is when they're transplanted in different genres that don't benefit from them and may in fact hurt them
Such as?
Everspace is a good example, I think
It tosses in this perk system atop classic ship upgrading and sorta bundles them together in a clunky way
I imagine that may be why 2 is a permanent progression game
I guess ED does it well
Oops, I forgot that was up
but also CoD is rife with that crap, lol
Lots of Ubisoft games tack on weird progression systems
I mean you start out as a noone
Personally I like progression, I like .. ooh shiney
Its why I played mario
or any game for the last 30 years
There's a difference between repeat boring shit to get thing and hey collect stars tho
Everspace 2 being permanent rather than roguelite makes some sense. Work on the game controls while players run with minimal content creation
Not really
Yes really
Since said stars opened up stuff and artifactds and such do as well
Then make a full game sequel
Imagine if instead of overcoming the obstacles you just sat there farming bowser's minions
Yeah, there's just a difference between progressing through a platformer and RPG character progression
Square snuck a FF optional boss into a mario rpg
Not to me
I mean for me, progression is progression. Which is why I like genshin or say ancestors
I dont differentiate
There is to me. In a platformer I'm actively enjoying the moment to moment play. In a RPG I'm tolerating the moment to moment play to get to the interesting places/story progressing moments
So then when you say, blend the two, I'm just like whhhyy
Legend of Zelda games have sorta strayed into that territory and it kills me
Its like say , Im finding treasures because I know there is a known grind to find them all
Or defeat all the bosses of a said kind
That type of stuff gives me center points to operate around
Usually with smaller goals to keep me going which I achieve the big ones
Like Zelda as you put it
Black Desert was like that to a extent, thogh I found it less restricting
Generally if I played well, I could approach most areas with intelligence over brute force
Ill admit though, one reason I loved kerbals was, there was no strict goal
Just... grow , learn, build
No limits except what I could concieve
Elite dangerous was a bit like that
It honestly thinks your just wired differently Leon. To enjoy your games differently.
Which isnt bad. Your just part of a much smaller subtype
😄
The AI running this simulation?
shrugs
Whatever you want to explain it as
I think youd probably like some of my more esoteric games though
Im huge into organic simulations
How do you feel about games like Cities Skylines?
Ha, some of my favorite games growing up were Simcity, Simfarm, Simant
Basically game toys as wright called them
My main fun with SimCity for awhile was just loading up premade cities and tossing down disasters, lol
Hehe
Mine was designing cities with really interesting styles
Mind you I took a lot of classes for such designs
Cities Skylines really took it a step further.
At first I was sorta into them for the citybuilding/design stuff, but I've then lost some interest as it's just tossing down prefabs, and I'd like to design some of the structures to make up the city
Spore almost had that, but it was literally just for that one stage.
