So far, my take on Control: Combat is fun as hell. Love the tactical options you get with all these powers. Destructive environments are beautifully chaotic. Lots of hidden secrets. Find the story disconnected and poorly written...It's like an episode of the Twilight Zone that never ends...and that wouldn't be a bad thing if "finding your brother" felt like a more compelling agenda. My character acts like she barely gives a shit about him.
By far the worst actor in the entire game is the main female lead.
Everyone else felt like they belonged in the world.
Their characters, some quirky, had a reckless abandon you might expect in that scenario...The main character, she acts like an outsider from the onset...and the game opens with you in a position that does not make any sense.
It reminded me of a mission in Rage 2 where you become The President of the United States and every time you open an ark they're like "Welcome Mr. President"
It felt as contrived as that.

My opinion: David is the real villainy here and Ridley Scott is changing the movie he made in 1979 to reflect a deeper sci-fi fantasy script. Scott doesn't care that you liked the universe he made and James Cameron really brought to life. Scott cares about the world he is building post-xenomorph. And because everything is backwards he is making the prequels in his own post-Aliens mindset.

Let’s say that you’re playing a permadeath survival game. And this game has plants that you harvest for food. However, after a while there’s a chance a plant will become diseased, and if it’s not caught early, it will spread to other plants, and the plant will stop producing food, and when dig up it will just be destroyed. And let’s say that the only way to tell if a plant will become diseased is that your character will say something suggesting it’s sick. And there’s also a finite amount of berry bushes to plant. Disease can also happen off screen. Also, plants are non renewable, and your character will only say that it’s diseased if you harvest it within a week before it gets diseased, even though plants take over a week to grow. Once it becomes diseased it’s gone forever. This is also a multiplayer game where you could have up to 8 mouths to feed, and berries are essential to make good or decent food, since your only other option would be eating raw meat, which is not a good food at all. What do you think of this mechanic?

Like the biggest issue with a lot of survival/building games is you end up grinding & building these empty structures where nothing happens, but they look pretty cool.
Minimize the grind by tasking other folks to do the gathering & building, then get the fun of watching however they nearly obliterate the place

@spiral shell Yes, that Cardi B song is copyrighted and that copyright license is included in the video, which is permissible under copyright law for the copyright owner to distribute their own content (in this case on Youtube). If you're not aware, you can check the "show more" drop down list to verify copyright ownership information of the video and music. Youtube's algorithm picked up the music copyright on the stolen movie you posted, but the distribution copyright is nowhere to be seen.
For the record, 20th Century Fox owns the distribution rights to the stolen movie you kept posting.
Whether you agree with youtube not taking it down yet or not is irrelevant.

Personally, I find it kind of funny. The way they comment, you'd think I hated all videos that didn't have strict copyright management control on them and that couldn't be further from the truth. I really don't give a shiiiit about 90% of the copyright grey crap on youtube. Entire movies are where I draw the line.

I finished the game "Control", and for once, I don't feel like I lost out on anything in finishing the story and then just uninstalling. It wasn't particularly in-depth and most of the fun was in the journey from start to finish, which is rare. I often find the journey is either too long or too short for my play style and will generally feel discouraged purchasing a game if it's too short. This game was shorter than I'm used to, but it was genuinely fun. The environments were beautiful. There were moments of absolute incredulity. There was a genuine experience to be remembered. Something to write about. Control is a rare gem that is structurally designed with a razors edge focus on marrying design concepts and game-play mechanics in a loose narrative such that, you can get what you want out of it no matter what kind of player you are.
