nothing will beat ac1 combat for me ac wise because of the shock and awe system and enemies being able to counter you, the hidden blade counter kill requiring actually good timing, no hidden blade blocks, and a much nicer combo system based on timing an attack after your sword hits an enemy sword

It feels a bit too easy so far tho, I get that they needed to make enemies move slower bc the player has to divide attention between movement and hacking minigame, but the game has only two difficulty settings; casual and standard. it could really use hard

I'm still very much worried about the optimization of the game. The graphics are cartoony so hopefully not very demanding. Similar concern when it comes to the size of the game. Unreal engine games are known to be hogging a lot of space, especially when developers are terrible at optimization

I use frame generation, but I usually get upwards of 150 FPS with it. Additional fluidity on a high refresh rate screen feels good, and even if there are artifacts, I don't see them.
Outerworlds 2 frame generation was splitting the reticle for me into six dots, but frame generation served me well in Satisfactory for long hours.

Upscalers and frame generation have their use, for example, if you have a 4K and/or high refresh rate screen and a machine capable of hitting high but not quite maxing them out.
If you can hit decent performance natively then it will help take full advantage of your display's capabilities

They removed using hidden blades as melee weapons but now you can use them as finishers against weakened enemies.

Ok, I said earlier that this game could've used a harder difficulty setting, but turns out it can bite even if only in optional areas. Game isn't as easy as I initially felt, when they start throwing in enemies with additional gimmicks, stronger variants of enemies you already met (e.g. Floating drone that can track you better and shoots bursts instead of just one projectile like it's base variant does).

Juggling weapons seems to be a pretty good tactic, your base gun has very limited ammo but recharges automatically, additional weapons are discarded once ammo runs out and have pretty low rate of fire but some of them have interesting effects like knock down so you can use them to deal a lot of damage or do crowd control and then switch to your base gun to keep dealing damage while special weapon goes on cooldown

All AC games are mechanically similar. Unity had the highest number of animations for the purpose of parkour in the entire series with over 4500 dedicated entirely to travel alone.
The "standards" that people assign to these video games in order to rate them or delegitimize their title claim or gameplay mechanics are qualitatively ludicrous.
Everyone has an opinion. Opinions are great for making fertilizer, but they don't do anything to service a Ubisoft game because Ubisoft also has an opinion and it's usually "money?......"MONEY!?...MONEY!!!@@".
I like all of the AC games for different reasons (except for any that ask me to play a templar because fuck those guys).

Unity's mission layout is crap
Not a huge fan of most of the AC game mission layouts. I can't think of a single AC game where the mission layout felt like it was designed with more than story in mind...and then Ubisoft was like....side missions? (MONEY!?) which introduced a way of derailing the primary structure of the games narrative pathing and they never even tried to preserve that.
So each and every game got progressively more convoluted.
Side mission? Achievements? Cosmetics? Side hustle? YOU ARE A HOOKER NOW...SELL YOUR BODY
They spent more time trying to figure out a way for you to live in the game than they did asking if you should
Worse, they stopped caring about plot depth in a bid to make the game more all encompassing.

In AC you don't even get to see the real Altair. You're introduced to the version interpreted through the personality of Desmond, who understandably has a huge ego once he A) Learns he can do shit and B) Is walking through the life of someone who has been dead a long time.
According to Nolan North, the original plan was to have Desmond as the main character in all of the AC games where he'd jump into these characters and get their abilities and then in the last one he'd be the ultimate assassin and he'd be able to travel through time.
