I think if you spent the part where your train moves on gathering resources and doing your crafting at stops it works pretty alright, you get your resources and later upgrades without needing a lot of repairs bc you run around shooting the void shark, you can also leave a solid chunk of gathering to the sillies, but all stops look almost the same, I assume stops which don't have any story elements are all the same with the same enemies.

On the one hand I can see how this might err on the side of the user for their decisions who are clearly experiencing a mental health crisis but I'm also of the mind that we're obligated as a species to not deliberately exploit people, least of all those who are weaker in some way in a way that hurts them or profits us at their expense.

I believe this scripted algorithm exploited this individual's mental health crisis in its algorithmic responses to drive more engagement in the here and now as it was operating. Even after the script claimed to be offloading responsibility to a human by providing contact information to help lines, the script continued to encourage the crisis.

If a human did this they'd be in prison.

I've only been to Blue Gate twice. The first time I got stuck in a village surrounded by Hornets and Spotters, the second time I used a keycard to open the Evidence Room in the tunnels and got dogshit loot then smoked by a rando after I saved him from being pinned down by a sniper bot and a horde of Poppers 💀

Also I avoid Buried City like the plague now cuz it's officially pvp hell. I did a couple hours of runs there last night and every single time ended with PvP as soon as I saw other players

The only map I've been on lately that even has a hint of friendly players is Dam

1. krafton didnt fire any devs of subnautica 2, they fired 3 execs of UWE (the company who made subnautica 1 and below zero, and are developing subnautica 2). the execs were not focused on what they should have been, but thats all we know about that situation.
2. krafton's "ai first" statement will not impact subnautica 2 whatsoever. there will be zero generative ai in subnautica 2, as per the devs' statement.
3. krafton provides tools for uwe to use if they choose to do so. they do not force them to use them, but they provide them to help.
4. subnautica 2 will not include any micro transactions, battlepasses, or paywalled content (potential dlc are still an unknown topic)

How'd you rate the game so far?

I think it's pretty good, obviously I'm having fun with it

I said here that it gets monotonous pretty quick but as I progressed a bit some new activities opened up and it added some variation to the gameplay. Main gameplay loop is rather simple but I'm enjoying it. You travel with your train gathering resources and you get some encounters, you reach a stop where you can upgrade your train, fight some enemies, craft in peace, progres the main story and you repeat.

There is a lot of nordic mythology themes of which I'm usually a fan of

Game tends to railroad you a lot

But I think it's fine, I like that for a change I don't have to go to random places who knows where to progress the game

You simply reach those places bc your train just follows the track

Yeah, Phantom Liberty was brilliant.

At the point where you have to chose whether you are going with Songbird's plan or Reed's I picked her. My reasoning was that I was hired for this job by her, not by president, not by Reed and no symbolic gestures or appeals to patrotism to a derelict nation are going to change that. She was my client, not them.

And later after she reveals that || she has no cure for V || I didn't go back crying to Reed. I went this far and I'm not abandoning the job right before the finish line and I don't care how many dogs like Reed I'll have to put down to accomplish this.

Nothing in the main story made me feel that way, except for maybe the short part of the secret ending, before reaching the actual end. ||Storming Arasaka Tower solo felt like a badass choice and something I wanted to do the whole game since they got Jackie||. I liked theme of the main story even tho it was poorly written imo. V thought themselves invincible, entering the big leagues, going to the top or dying like a legend and then it went wrong and V is dying, not in a glorious way but in a process of slow deterioration and has to come to terms with that. In a world where after you die all traces of you get lost in everyone's chase to the bottom and nobody will remember you. Cyberpunk as a setting is essentially about etching your name somewhere and even tho no one will be left to read it that's still a proof you existed.

But I didn't like the execution of it.

You gotta go in the harvester, pry open all the wall sockets til you find the funny cylinders, plug the cylinders into different sockets, and shoot the angry buttons that spawn partway through the process. Oh yeah, and every minute or two the thing will start heating up and you'll have to run back outside while it cooks its insides in an attempt to purge you

And after every purge it'll set you back a cylinder and you'll have to plug that one in again

It's a pain in the ass, but it's how you get the blueprints for the legendary weapons. Unfortunately said blueprints require Queen Cores, which is a whole different problem 😆

Finished playing Where Winds Meet for now. Game is fun. There are a lot of mechanics and there is an item shop and pretty sure there is gacha but I haven't seen it first hand yet. Companions relations and characters are a bit underdeveloped in ME1, but when you meet them in ME2 and witness their reaction of meeting an old friend you know their full development over 3 games and it can feel like you too are meeting an old friend as the player

Combat is fun. You can change the combat controls to mmorpg point and click or action rpg with the directional camera. It has a deflection system, block, dodge and stealth. I haven't found out yet if stealth kills exist.

Difficulty scaling is enormous. You can make the game as easy or hard as you want, upto and including plans coming for a difficulty mode that permanently kills your character if you die.

PVP I haven't experienced but the game has an interesting bounty system that invites PVP for being mean to npc.

Basically you can play the game single player or multiplayer in teams, or just on public instances. If you piss off enough NPC no matter what you're playing, the bounty allows other players to invade your game and hunt you down.

Fantasy MORPG. I disagree with the sentiment it's a massive mp online rpg. The only areas where you see other people are instanced locales and when you specifically summon someone to your instance.

The theme is ancient chinese mythos

Think Black Myth online

This game will likely be competing with Crimson Desert when it is released.

If Crimson Desert nails the amount of PVE content and online MP, it will win out

The two weakest areas of this game are it's limited multiplayer and absolute pig stye amount of "content"

Non-Main Story content is loosely related to the narrative. There is a TON of story content. Almost too much.

It does not help the game also has AI in it.

Some of the NPC I've spoken with have two options of communicating with them. One is through a heavily scripted dialogue and the other is basically talking to a character in a scripted algorithm

Example: I bumped into this one kid in a village and he cried because it hurt blah blah blah you stepped on my foot...and I bought him a honey pear ball or something like that...

Turns out making friends with the locals results in an affinity rating, like a social credit score.

So now because this kid loves that shit and he thinks I'm his friend, he sends me free shit...

PS: The bumping into thing, not scripted at all

I literally walked into him and it prompted this whole narrative.

So I finished the VoidTrain story and ending sequence was pretty cool, boss fight had some interesting ideas.

In general pretty fun little game with emphasis on "pretty fun" and "little game". I don't think it has enough content to play it extensively, at least not to me, but it was fun while it lasted. I finished a playthrough in around 30h and while I took my time in be beginning I ended up speed running last 1/3 of the game bc I researched all technologies and gathered way more than enough fuel to set the train on high speed and just ignore everything. While I was doing so game tried to introduce some extra side activities and while they had pretty cool visuals there was no incentive to me due to already having everything. Like I mentioned, last boss fight had some cool ideas, sort of "zero gravity" phases, but i don't think they really capitalised on it as it is the only fight in the game like that.

5+ offers a chance at super samples tho rare. so i just do that to have fun and gain it over time instead of grinding all out for it on hardest diff

dude my current loadout eruptor, revolver, on hit nades
stratas: mech missiles, 2 sentries, and recoiless

i mostly play bots

for boosters i chose between hp, the stamina, or ammo fillup

I’m always rocking the turrets. Usually main. But if I mix it up I bring a rover or sheild gen. I think the orbital laser is my fave airstrike tbh

I can’t remember the assault rifles name I use. But it has both burst and auto, and 650-850 rpm selection iirc.
