They didn't mean to get license for the IP, just wanted to make a free fan made game

Yeah but as soon as you want to publish it to the world and it hasn't gone through the stringent checks to make sure it adheres to the IP, which is likely more than fan made stuff it becomes a bit different.

Small example, if you're making a game and working with a publisher that has history, you could add some content that is reminiscent of their old IPs or logos/branding. However, when the publisher is checking over that content they might ask for it to be removed because they have to get a green light from the people involved with that IP.

It's like working with retro stuff, someone still owns it and they are still alive. Still need to send an email and wait for a reply.

I found the sirene area to be a little unnerving believe it or not. I think it's the fact that there are these weird dancing creatures that are perpetually dancing to this beautiful music. If you heard or read the logs, the other expeditioners tried playing their own music to disrupt them, but it's like those characters don't hear it and continue to dance.

It was still an awesome area nonetheless

I think the illuminate turn the voteless into overseers, just so they have an intelligent unit that’s loyal to them but they aren’t sacrificing their own. The process is presumably quite traumatic, so it results in a lot of deaths (those big piles of corpses you see) and the flesh mobs are whatever biomass that can be recycled from the failures
