I mean, it's all good as long as it's fun
Thing is that with some games that have advanced systems you might get yourself into a situation where it stops being fun and becomes tedious and frustrating if you go against the flow without adapting to the mechanics
For example cover in RT is quite fragile, some weapon types can just straight up ignore it, las weapons reduce cover efficiency of the target iirc
Heavily relying on it can lead to getting exposed and getting your ass beaten, some combat situation don't even offer that much cover
