Something I’ve learned in HD2 is that the combat hatchet is actually more viable than the stun baton for bugs

It staggers them just enough to prevent them from attacking

The only downside is that you can’t beat the shit out of chargers without risking getting smushed by one

If you wanted really hard you could have a hive city with a democratic government and citizens with a lot of personal freedom.

Imperium won't really interfere as long as you follow the Imperial creed (The Emperror is the true and only God and Master of Man Kind) and pay taxes.

Problem tho is that humanity has a lot of enemies and internal politics.

I’ve heard DUSK is good, ULTRAKILL is also really good but it’s not really comparable to Doom Eternal

I’ve played a decent amount of Doom Eternal, and I just didn’t like it too much

I could never get in the flow of it

There’s a difference between shooters like Doom and shooters like Dusk and ULTRAKILL that I don’t think many people realize

Doom-like shooters rely on resource management and killing in the most efficient way while also giving the player a bit more durability. Shooters like ULTRAKILL are more about movement and trying to kill shit in the most entertaining way possible

Dusk is more Quake inspired but it actually feels closer to its inspiration than Doom 2016 felt to Doom for me.

Like I said Doom 2016 just made me think of Painkiller more than anything.

My problem wasn't necessarily the linear levels -- and by linear I do mean in the sense of limited paths, I know classic doom was still linear in the sense of like fixed keycard progression, but the geometry branched out more -- per se, more... yeah I probably didn't like how the movement and combat felt, and it did seem like it was really herding you between major combat setpieces.

ULTRAKILL is worse about the linear level design, you’ve mostly just got corridors going between open arenas, but each stage is visually interesting to look at and has its own hazards to navigate

Not to mention in that game you move absurdly quickly

The linear level design isn’t a huge issue if the rest of the gameplay feels interesting. Having unique environments also helps break up the idea of a linear level

Simply go to coldharbour, pick flowers, get a gold lead after 10 drops, then scry it on that uber char and excavate on the one I wanna level. Excavating golds requires only a level 4 in excavation which isn't hard to get to

Can power level any characters scrying up that way, since excavation grants both scrying and excavation xp

and gold can easily pump you up fast

I don't have the highest excavation yet. I'm too lazy and don't care about furniture leads

The ultimate leads that you can get in the game are almost all furniture that I don't care about
