I have used a few different "cure" mods and i even made my own mod for it

There are some mods that it's simply an item you can take to prevent turning if you got bitten or scratched and suspect infection, with very low spawn rates

There also something that is prevention pills which reduce the chances

My favourite mod for that to play with was "The only cure".
Basically if you get bitten on your arm or legs, you can cut it off.
You get the corresponding negative perk to reflect missing a limb... Things become hard to do, but it was kinda fun
