I have a ton of fun with it, but it is definitely a different style of game compared to similar PvE coop shooters. It is much more stealth focused, as going loud tends to waste resources, as the enemies hit like trucks

There's really no excuse for the developers not having a working idea for how the game will be on launch, whether it's subscription based or otherwise. There are reasons to not tell people but there's no excuse for not even having it nailed down.

Their excuse is that they are still discussing it. I call bs.

If they tell people it's going to be flat subscription, they lose a lot of players. The game is a sandbox. It doesn't even have what most sandboxes have, so telling people this unfinished game will charge people a subscription to sandbox will drive people to stop playing, making it that much harder to develop a playerbase necessary to justify paying a subscription to play with on launch.

They need players to make the game functional and one proposed payment model charges people more for having more land. While this sounds like a good idea on paper, having more land typically means you have more opportunities to provide resources and services the game doesn't come ready with so consumers paying more are also working more - which discourages playing.

This game will be DOA come launch day.

It's unfortunate because the game itself shows promise.

I don't think I can give Pax Dei justice. It is a mp sandbox with crafting and homesteading. The maps are static. The world is enormous. Players can claim a plot of land that becomes persistently claimed in a single instance of this massive world with limited resources. Everything from a lack of purpose to clans both exploiting mechanics to harm gameplay to coveting the only metric (resources) for advancing the only feature complete system in the game (crafting) plague early access while future plans teased by the developers paint a potential launch that charges property taxes in a subscription based payment plan which scales based on land claims.
