Microsoft is doing that with Minecraft. I don't know if Hytale ever really would have had that issue since they wouldn't need to develop two versions.

Minecrafts latest EULA though made a lot of commercial licensing changes that throttled serious developers using minecraft as an engine for their projects.

I wonder how long Hypixel will remain up once Hytale is out.

I can't imagine they'll maintain it in any respect

I can just see some microsoft legal team trying to argue Hytale is a rip off of Minecraft's technology and therefore IP theft, using Hypixel as evidence of intent.
