To a degree - at the scale MS operates at, it's also about efficiency of investment. If the next xbox is gonna cost, idk, 4 billion to develop, but only return 7 billion (games etc. excluded), then they may take the view that that 4 billion would be better of spent in the AI division. Especially when they dual publish on PC anyway. Would drive more sales to gamepass, more sales of PC's...

I just can't see them only doing publishing, that means they would be placing themselves in a subservient position to Sony. Unless they only published on PC windows which would limit them even more. I think they are going to move out of most exclusive games and start selling Halo and Gears and such on everything they can.

But at the same time a lot of the bad stuff is linked to the setting and their approach to it imo
Like the writing isn't great in most Bethesda games but at least in TES they have existing lore to draw from
Which is why skyrim is memorable despite the main quest

ES6 has no release date yet, so they could just declare it to be 2026 if they liked
