The base game had foreshadowing as far as Summerset, and after that is when the story kind of disassembled. I ADORED morrowind through summerset. Story chapters are still lit but definitely not linear or related like at all.

I feel like the yearly stories are standalones with little connecting them

Yep :). The base game main story is intact, building up to Summerset. But after that I think is when the story is no longer building into an overall arc. The starter hall is kind of a weird change tbh but doesn’t ruin storylines

Tons of weird af people seemed to gravitate towards me. Couldn’t join a guild without getting harassed or receiving DMs, and it got really lonely since I didn’t have a big consistent group to play with and couldn’t count on people to be chill. Like even in dungeons people would say creepy shit in the group text chat. I think I was just unlucky maybe, but it was draining. That plus some insane community-wide toxicity and gatekeeping. Like I totally get serious groups that just want to get shit done, but when I played it was really hard for people to enter the endgame because of the gatekeeping, toxicity, unhelpful attitudes, etc. it was like no one ever wanted to do teaching runs. I did find a good guild that I was able to clear a lot of things with, but there’s a reason I did almost all solo content lmao

there are some op PvP sets and builds that everybody copies from each other

so you end up fighting with the exact same builds against each other

Oh my lord, yes. This has been a massive problem forever. No one uses the majority of overland or dungeon sets. I didn’t like that in ESO everyone fell into the same setups - you had pretty much no room for personal preference or creativity

not really - but the game itself, like armor, shields, damage types, have been reworked

so happy to find that abating link is now +60% armor removal on linked enemies instead of the 40% it used to be
